H.R.W. says removal of Judge Sawwan makes a mockery of justice' and is an insult to the victims – Ya Libnan

The Court of Cassation decided to remove Judge Fadi Sawwan the chief prosecutor investigating last year’s massive Beirut port explosion and replace him with another judge . According to Al Jadeed TV a meeting was held at Baabda presidential Palace which was attended by caretaker justice minister Mary Claude Nejm, Judge Ghassan Ouidat , President Michel Aoun and his advisor Salim Jreisati and they decided to replace Sawwan with another judge who is closely associated with president Aoun . The name of the new judge was mot released to the media . Human Rights Watch the New-York based watchdog, said the decision to remove Investigating Judge Fadi Sawwan “makes a mockery of justice'” and is an “insult to the victims.”
