42-year-old Beau Admire, owner of Badger Combatives martial arts school in Galesburg pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal sexual assault and aggravated sexual abuse. Admire made the plea Tuesday and demanded a jury trial after testimony was heard from Monmouth Police Investigator Terry Hepner. Hepner summarized the victim's statements to investigators and a forensic interviewer. Warren County State's Attorney Thomas Siegel tells WGIL the victim described numerous incidents of abuse, three of which serve as the basis for the charges Admire faces. All three incidents allegedly took place in 2010 and 2011 in Warren County, when the victim was between 13 and 14. Siegel says that Admire is 16 years older than the victim, and held a position of trust or authority over the victim, in that he was her martial arts coach. It's alleged that one instance of sexual penetration took place at Admire's home and the other two offenses allegedly took place at his gym. Admire will next be in court for a pre-trial conference on Mar. 15. He's being represented by former Knox County and Warren County Assistant State's Attorney Andrew Stuckart, now with the law firm of Bougher, Krisher, and Associates. Admire posted the required 10 percent of a $100,000 bond. Siegel doesn't expect that the implementation of the SAFE-T Act on Jan. 1 will affect Admire's bond situation.
