IN THE SPIRIT OF THE NBA PLAYOFF SEASON, Gucci's latest collection dips into athletic attire, and the European brand has chosen Clutch City as one of the markets to launch its most recent drop. The luxury label clearly knows its audience. If you know anything about Houston's Galleria, the Gucci storefront is seemingly one of the more popular stores in the multi-story mall.
This past June, the brand launched its Gucci Basket sneaker, a color-blocking high-top designed by Creative Director Alessandro Michele. The shoe fuses together a luxury and streetwear aesthetic, which arguably is one of the many descriptives that makes up Houston's fun and eclectic fashion scene. As sports have closely reverted back to allowing crowds into arenas, it's only tradition that the fashion industry designs pieces to celebrate the return. The genderless sneaker is inspired by the NBA's most popular dunks and features a distressed mockup and mixed materials including mesh, blue soles, green laces, and more.Â
