A now-former Greenville County Schools teacher has had her teacher's license suspended after being charged with two felony crimes involving children, according to court documents. The State Board of Education in Columbia suspended the teaching certificate of Amy Haugh on May 11, disciplinary documents said. The public index shows Haugh was arrested and charged on Jan. 15 with two counts of unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person by a legal custodian."The SCDE has reason to believe that, due to the serious nature of these allegations of misconduct, Ms. Haugh may pose a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of students, who may be under her instruction and that emergency action is required," the Order of Suspension said.At the time of her arrest, Haugh was a teacher for the Greenville County School District, the order said. She was placed on administrative leave at the time of her arrest and has since resigned from the district, effective April 1, the order said.GCS Director of Media Relations Tim Waller said Haugh taught at Sterling School and is no longer employed there. He said he could not release any other information. The suspension order said it was alleged that Haugh unlawfully caused bodily harm to a minor under her custody and that she put the minor at "an unreasonable risk of harm by exposing the minor to amphetamines."The suspension is in effect "until a due process hearing is held and/or this matter is otherwise resolved," according to the order.
