The final stage in a £1.4bn major regeneration project in Clapham, south London, has been granted planning permission.
The York Gardens project, a joint venture between Taylor Wimpey and Wandsworth Council, will include 2,550 new homes as well as a new leisure centre, a community centre, a library, and a children’s centre and nursery. HTA Design’s plans will also see offices, a health centre and a new 2.5-hectare public park built.
The JV said the development of the Winstanley and York Road Estate will create 3,360 construction jobs.
Construction on the new homes that have been granted planning permission is expected to start this year. Taylor Wimpey has already made progress on site, having completed two separate blocks of housing, known as Mitchell House and Duval House, which were given approval in September 2018.
