THERE is just so much to enjoy in this photograph taken at the junction of Ainsworth Street and Salford, Blackburn, around 1960.
On the left you can see the Art Deco-style Woolworth’s building and behind it, what was then the Royal Cinema. And on the right hand edge of the picture you can just make out part of the sign of the Bay Horse on the corner with Penny Street.
But just look at those advertising hoardings - does anyone remember Old Charlie rum? - and how about the clock by the bus stops. It would be interesting to know what happened to that.
