GPS a must for pay-day: BBMP’s 2021 resolution

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is yet to implement the much-needed mechanism of garbage collection from every house, despite contractors allegedly using auto tippers meant for one ward in another. The
BBMP Commissioner, in a meeting held on November 30, made it clear that no payment should be made for the contractors based on manual attendance register from January 1, 2021.
“It is mandatory for all the first and secondary vehicles engaged for transporting garbage to have registration number and fitness certificates. Payment should be made to the contractors based on the attendance notified through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and Global Positioning System (GPS),’’ the BBMP Commissioner said during the meeting.
