A proposal was okayed on Wednesday for exporting 50,000 tonnes of granular urea fertiliser to Nepal after procuring from local producer KAFCO.
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved a total of four proposals, including fertiliser export proposal.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal chaired the meeting held virtually.
Briefing reporters virtually after the meeting, the Finance Minister said the government would first purchase fertiliser from KAFCO, Bangladesh and then export it to Nepal. He said that such kind of trade with a neighboring country would further brighten the image of Bangladesh in the international arena.
