Governor Andy Beshear spoke to high school students in Lexington on Tuesday regarding the COVID19 vaccine for the 12-18 year old age group. Governor Beshear praised students for their sacrifice of their normal school year in order to help stop the spread of COVID19. Beshear called the students heroes, saying that they have shown selflessness, and that all that is left to ask of them is that they get the vaccine. Lexington Mayor, Linda Gorton followed these statements saying that this is the opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year by getting a vaccine, and noted that Lexington has vaccinated 150,000 people, over 53% of the 12-15 population of Lexington. Both Mayor Gorton and Governor Beshear stressed the importance of collaboration and team work in a situation such as this, and said the vaccine is the best way to stop the virus in its tracks.
