ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIC CHOICE. PORSHA: THEY SAY SHE IS EXTREMELY SMART AND THE PERFECT PERSON FOR THE JOB. SHE PLAYED A ROLE BEFORE STEPPING DOWN FROM THE VOLUNTEER POSITION BACK IN JUNE. GOING ON TO SAY, SHE PLAYED A CRUCIAL ROLE IN GUIDING AND PROTECTING OKLAHOMANS DURING THE EARLY DAYS OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. >> I DON’T TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILITY LIGHTLY, AND I WANT TO THANK THE PRESIDENT FOR PUTTING ME ON THE LEADERSHIP PATH. I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR HIS MENTOR SHIP AND HIS FRIENDSHIP. PORSHA: SHE RUNS OKLAHOMA STATE CENTER FOR HEALTH SCIENCES SINCE 2013. THE UNIVERSITY IS SAYING THE HONOR MADE HER THE YOUNGEST AND FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT AND DEAN OF A MEDICAL SCHOOL IN OKLAHOMA. UNDER HER LEADERSHIP THE SCHOOL SAYS, THE PROGRAM HAS SEEN INCREDIBLE GROWTH. ONE OF SEVERAL REASONS MANY IN THE COMMUNITY ARE RALLYING BEHIND HER AS THE 19TH PRESIDENT, THE FIRST WOMAN TO ATTAIN THE POSITION. >> SHE IS AN EFFECTIVE LEADER, AND INNOVATIVE THINKER, AND SHE UNDERSTANDS THE VALUE OF COLLABORATIONS AND PARTNERSHIPS. WHOLE WORK LED TO THE ESTABLISHMENTS -- HER WORK LED TO THE FIRST TRIBAL AFFILIATED MEDICAL SCHOOL OPENING THIS YEAR IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CHEROKEE NATION. HER FUNDRAISING EFFORTS WERE KEY TO THE ADDITION OF THE STATE-OF-THE-ART MEDICAL ACADEMIC BUILDING. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.
