Pennsylvania receives an extra $100 million each month to provide low-income residents with federally-funded food assistance benefits, but the state’s human services secretary said that aid would disappear a month after Gov. Tom Wolf’s COVID-19 emergency declaration ends.
In a virtual news conference on Thursday, Human Services Secretary Teresa Miller said she wanted to raise awareness of that possibility if the pandemic-related declaration expires. Miller said such an outcome would affect nearly 600,000 Pennsylvania households who rely on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits.
