Google says it paid phone makers to pre-install Google Search just so Android can compete with Apple

Google is facing a record fine of 4.3-billion-euro ($3.7 billion) from the EU Commission for paying phone makers to have Google Search pre-installed. It says it did so just so Android can compete with Apple.
