The current Trudeau government, elected on October 21, 2019, hasn’t delivered a budget for 504 days and counting.
That’s longer than the 483-day span between the March 2, 1943 and June 27, 1944 budgets of the Liberal government of William Lyon Mackenzie King — during the Second World War.
When the Trudeau Liberals introduced their last budget on March 19, 2019, Bill Morneau was finance minister, the deficit was estimated at $19.8 billion, debt at $685.5 billion and the debt-to-GDP ratio (a good number is 27%), 30.7%.
Today, without bringing down a budget, the Liberals have permanently changed Canada’s finances because of pandemic spending, with the deficit estimated at $381.6 billion, debt at over $1 trillion, and the debt-to-GDP ratio, 50.7%.
