Golden Harvest: Flour Sacks from the Permanent Collection Perhaps the most versatile and reusable food product packaging ever, flour sacks are the focus of the MAC’s next showcase of artifacts from its permanent collection. Cloth flour sacks on display for this exhibit date from the late 1800s and early decades of the 20th century, featuring artistically designed and colorful imagery honoring Eastern Washington’s wheat-growing legacy. Vintage and antique collectors should enjoy this showcase, which also includes clothing and other household objects made from flour sacks repurposed by thrifty homemakers. Still today fabric flour sacks (and similar animal feed sacks, especially from the Depression era) are a coveted item for collectors, both to display or even remake into modern clothing pieces with a unique, vintage flair.
