Susan Aitken said that she was glad police used public order legislation to disperse the crowds tonight.
Taking to Twitter, Ms Aitken said: "I’m glad to see Greater Glasgow Police put these powers into action.
"The scenes we’ve seen in George Square - again - are utterly unacceptable at any time.
"At a time when Glasgow is in the midst of a Covid spike, it is unforgivable.
"No one has the right to abuse our city like this."
