With a career that spans nearly two decades, Ghetts hasnât faded into the background in 2021. Heâs still firmly in the limelight, and the Plaistow donâs long past legendary status as he consistently delivers irreverent flows that tell vivid stories of being an east Londoner. And he injects his mystical melancholy all over his first major label album, âConflict of Interestâ, which showcases a high-quality UK talent at its best.
Eschewing the brash grime production that imbued the likes of 2015 fan favourite Rude Kid collaboration âOne Takeâ, new track âHop Outâ is a bouncy, end-of-the-party tune. With an eerie wheeze in the back accompanied by simple 808s, the song proves that the 36-year-old remains a student of rap: whether heâs learning from todayâs minimalist production or his long-time friends (thereâs an effortlessness here comparable to that of pal and fellow grime legend Merscton), Ghetts can fit anywhere in todayâs market â no easy feat.
