The New Zealand Raptor Trust’s Ron Lindsay gives background information on hawks to his young audience.
About 50 children had the rare chance to get up close to three birds of prey in Timaru on Wednesday.
The New Zealand Raptor Trust brought two hawks and an owl to Pet Central, so children could learn more about the birds.
“Everyone enjoyed it, and it raised a bit of awareness,” shop manager Kimberly Wederell said.
“Some got to hold them and pat them. It was all unique.”
