BERLIN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Revenues of Germany's agribusiness companies declined by 1.7 percent year-on-year to 234.3 billion euros (285 billion U.S. dollars) last year, according to a study published by global consultancy firm Ernst & Young (EY) and the Georg August University of Goettingen on Tuesday.
Agricultural businesses in Germany were confronted with major challenges -- the COVID-19 pandemic, the detection of African swine fever (ASF) and the summer drought -- which "the industry as a whole managed well," the EY noted.
The country's food industry, the largest subsector of agribusiness, increased revenues slightly to a new record high of 186.3 billion euros. Meanwhile, revenues of meat industry declined slightly.
