The Duke of Edinburgh accompanied the Queen on a memorable visit to Whitehaven in June 2008.
They were the guests of honour at a special day to mark the 300th anniversary of Whitehaven town and harbour, as well as opening the newly-refurbished Beacon.
Thousands of people, including school children, flocked to the harbourside area and Union Jacks were distributed to youngsters, which they waved enthusiastically at the sight of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
Businesses were decorated in the town with a red, white and blue theme on the day.
It was a big year for the town and talks took place between the Whitehaven Maritime Festival Company and the Whitehaven Harbour Commissioners to celebrate the special anniversary in style.
