Straffen took mid bedfordshire with a 20. 5 swing. Thats the largest labour by election win since 1945. Sir keir says its history in the making, but these are huge victories. These are either of these results would have been extraordinary. Both together, extraordinary. Both together, they are historic. Look, these they are historic. Look, these are seats that weve never won before or rarely won before. And weve had swings of over 20. And weve had swings of over 20. And weve now had four by elections with swings of over 20. If you take selby and rutherglen as well. So, you know, that is a well. So, you know, that is a very , very important in vesting very, very important in vesting of confidence and trust in a changed labour party. Changed labour party. Well, conservative Party Chairman greg hands is less impressed. He says labours wins are not that significant. Are not that significant. Labour hardly improved their vote at all and in fact went down in mid bedfordshire slightly. But i dont think that slightly. But i dont think that will have an impact on the general election. Clearly we need to recognise that a large number of our conservative voters did not come out yesterday in mid bedfordshire and tamworth despite having excellent candidates in Festus Akinbusoye and in andy cooper. So we need to work harder. We need to make sure that people get the government message that we are delivering against the five priorities, making progress i west Mercia Police says a man in his 60s has died after getting caught in fast flowing floodwater in shropshire. This is gb news across the uk on tv , in gb news across the uk on tv, in your car, on Digital Radio and on your Smart Speaker by saying play gb news. Now lets get back to Lee Andersons real. To Lee Andersons real. World welcome to Lee Andersons real world. And tomorrow its going to be two weeks since hamas launched their surprise attack on the people of israel. Attack on the people of israel. And tonight, im glad to be joined by robert fox, whos the defence editor of the evening standard. Were living in a changing, changing and dangerous world. Robert, this this attack certainly took many of us by surprise. And some of the surprise. And some of the reporting weve seen over the past 24, 48 hours has done nothing to help. I think it was nothing to help. I think it was always going to be like that. Its quite an easy touch to say, you know, that the messenger has got it wrong. This has been i know a lot of the people involved. I mean, on the people involved. I mean, on the reporting side, it has been acutely difficult because theres a lot information theres a lot of information they at. And they simply cant get at. And there are Big Questions which need to be investigated forensically by reporting. And, you know , the way media operates you know, the way media operates these days , they dont allow you these days, they dont allow you these days, they dont allow you the time to be forensic. For instance, lets talk about the bomb on or the projectile on on the hospital. Ive seen things the hospital. Ive seen things like that before , but not to like that before, but not to that degree , particularly in that degree, particularly in sarajevo, where we had three occasions. It took weeks to identify what projectile was done and where it came from. Now its understandable that you rush to judgement because that is the way in the social media world it comes around. But i do think the more experienced reporters could do better in hoisting the health and safety warnings about this kind of material. So do you think the more experienced journalists , as more experienced journalists, as you say, should take a little bit more care or are they actually bothered, robert, because we see im not going to name names of channels and people that actually done this, but they seem far too quick to get that headline out there rather than check. And this rather than fact check. And this creates no end of problems, not just this country, but around just in this country, but around the this been the world. Well, this has been ive game for just ive been in the game for just over 56 years, and ive done all media, including social media, funnily enough, and social media has changed the game. And you have to and its comment have to rush and its comment andits have to rush and its comment and its a Virtual World very often you can see it. Ive read the twitter feeds on ukraine, on russia , on palestine, and on and russia, on palestine, and on and on gaza. And the whole the old maxim does stand. Theres that world and theres rw in the real world. For me, its been extremely interesting having the odd 24 or 36 hours gap where you can reflect rootle among the material and say , look, this is material and say, look, this is what we know now. This is what is being speculated about and this is what we dont know. So a common thing thats often said to two children is and certainly my mum and dad would have said this to me many, many years ago is do not believe everything you read in the papers and that i never really thought much about that. Know, as you that. And then, you know, as you get and you see life get older and you see life a little bit more, that is certainly true. But with the false headlines , thats just the false headlines, thats just the starting point. It is a starting point. But whether the false headunes point. But whether the false headlines you see like weve seen over the past 48 hours, surely theres going to come a time when people just not believe anything they see on social they social media or anything. They read papers. Well, thats read in the papers. Well, thats the needs to be done, the job that needs to be done, because really it should be in the curriculum. They dont the core curriculum. They dont talk either side of talk about it on either side of the actually how you the house. Actually how you handle information in the virtual information i talk virtual information era. I talk to schools. I robert to kids in schools. I do. Robert peston, schools and peston, speakers in schools and they engaged in it. They they are engaged in it. They want to know they want talk want to know they want to talk to first is to to people. So the first is to know theres a gap. Thats know and theres a gap. Thats whats happening. What were reporting like after reporting is things like after the incident in the hospital, im going to go into the im not going to go into the whys and wherefores. Who was to blame. But palestinians blame. But you get palestinians on streets across the world, on the streets across the world, you them in west bank, you get them in the west bank, but them the north but you get them in the North Country the campuses. Now, country on the campuses. Now, should reporting those as should you be reporting those as an to events to what an equivalent to events to what is actually going on in the middle east . Big question. So guess whos behind it . There is a sometimes the press a message sometimes the press want get out because want to get out there because each different media outlet have probably their own agenda. Probably got their own agenda. Well, but well, we know that happens, but also the consumer, the reader sometimes believes what they want to believe. Robert thats the thing, isnt it . Theres also that and theres also, im afraid, lee, an ever shorting, ever shorter concentration span. So you get the soundbites. I mean twitter frankly or x as we now have to call it, under mr musks leadership now is an absolute curse because first of all, it was 240 to 245 characters. Well, this is nonsense for a very, very complicated story. Some people, it must be said , have been it must be said, have been brilliant at handling and one Vladimir Zelenskyy has been outstanding. By the way, the palestinians are also very adroit at this, particularly from their media centres. And from their media centres. And this is part of the thing youve got whats going on in gaza, but a lot of the political and thought action and propaganda is coming from beirut or qatar or somewhere else in the gulf. So the outlets the Media Outlets that are putting there misleading putting out there misleading headunes putting out there misleading headlines and youre quite right, sometimes right, what you say sometimes the article is the actual full article is nothing the headline is nothing like the headline is completely different. This completely different. But this does nothing to restore peace. It nothing to help the it does nothing to help the people of israel or palestine. All does stoke up hatred all it does is stoke up hatred around world. Weve seen around the world. Weve seen demonstrations different demonstrations in different countries. Had one on on countries. We had one on on whitehall last night. People whitehall last night. People are coming some of coming out because of some of these headlines that theyre reading in the newspapers. I reading in the newspapers. I dont necessarily dont think its necessarily theyre the theyre being driven by the headlines. Headlines headlines. The headlines are a useful can we put it like useful tool. Can we put it like that . Have to remember the that . We have to remember the great its not original great saying its not original to bill clinton denial to him. Bill clinton denial aint in egypt. Aint just a river in egypt. What difficult about this what is so difficult about this and worked in israel for and ive worked in israel for 30, 40 years and the occupied territories in gaza and territories and been in gaza and got there, with got stoned there, not with marijuana, rocks. But marijuana, but with rocks. But the fact is that ive travelled backwards and fonnards and this is what im showing my age here. Sorry to that. People arent talking to each other in the way that they did in the past. Theres no theres no no silver bullet, if you like, for this, for this, for this problem. But if you were tasked, robert , in if you were tasked, robert, in solving this problem, if you could wave your magic wand, what would you do . Just get people talking around the table so we get people talking . I would get people not talking both down both sides of the street. I think theres a very sensible element in the middle of the israeli now with element in the middle of the israeli like now with element in the middle of the israeli like benny now with element in the middle of the israeli like benny gantzvith element in the middle of the israeli like benny gantz ,th element in the middle of the israeli like benny gantz , benny people like benny gantz, benny gantz, and one of his predecessors was ehud barak, who has been talking in the economist, actually. And that thatis economist, actually. And that that is those are sane words. You can read in the british press. Youre silver bullet. The arabs , the serious arabs have arabs, the serious arabs have got to Start Talking instead of running away and finding excuses. We heard because of the hospital thing and with joe biden running away and saying, were going to talk, they were not going to talk, they are response they are response able. And they i mean, the qatar , but mean, the qatar, but particularly arabia, egypt particularly saudi arabia, egypt , that and of course , the , that and of course, the authority on the west bank with its 87 year old president. We have got to talk the worlds a better place. I think if people talk from from all from all sides of the argument, no easy solutions. But that part of the world, as i would dislike and im being kind now to actually live in that part of the world. The uncertainty, the, you know, the deaths, the bombs. I mean, youve been there loads of times, robert. I mean , out of times, robert. I mean, out of the people really think living with day, day after day. With that day, day after day. Well, become a strain. Well, that does become a strain. And thats british and thats a british understatement. But the other understatement. But the other thing the two. Thing is going between the two. Jerusalems going to jerusalems of going to concerts, kinds things concerts, the kinds of things that edward said and Daniel Barenboim did tremendous fun. And the thing is that i think that the youth on both sides and theres a vast well know, considerable liberal youth. By that i mean secular who are willing to talk to each other. Theyre interested in each others music, but theyve been restricted on the israeli side and undoubtedly oppressed by this terrible al regime, which is a military regime of hamas in gaza. Yeah, i mean, i had the pleasure to go last year. I spent three days in tel aviv. I think three days in jerusalem. Its a beautiful country, beautiful people, very welcoming. We spent a little bit of time on the west bank as well. And i guess our prayers are with every bodyin guess our prayers are with every body in that part of. I will say one thing with the journalists and look you straight in the eye. And i would say to politicians, journalists, commentators myself , stop commentators like myself, stop reinventing the past. Theres far too much. If you hear people at length, you know, in the posh programs and in the posh magazine , oh, this happened in magazine, oh, this happened in 1917 with the balfour declaration, with the Peel Commission when bernadotte was killed and so on. No no circumstances physically in terms of number and attitudes, the balance is so totally different. Youve got to address that and not find excuses from the past. Okay, so some wise words from from robert. Thank you, robert, for joining words from from robert. Thank you, robert, forjoining me. That was really helpful. Look, do not go away, because coming up next, weve got Sir Vince Cable and weve got richard tice, the leader of tice, who is the leader of reform theyre head to reform uk. Theyre going head to head. Could get a spicy. Head. It could get a bit spicy. On mark dolan tonight, in my big opinion , following the tories opinion, following the tories double by election loss. A Labour Government is coming. Be careful what you wish for in my take at ten. With the world on the brink of war, we need a proper leader in the white house. Joe biden must be impeached on the grounds of ill health. My mark meets guest is tv and radio legend pat sharp. Plus mike parry, edwina currie. Tomorrows papers and my top pundits. Were live from listening to gb news radio. Tonight im joined by the leader of reform uk. Thats richard tice. Thank you, richard, for coming along. Im back is our left in the corner. Hes been here a few times. Thats Sir Vince Cable the former leader of the liberal democrats. Thanks, guys. Look straight it. The world is straight to it. The world is a dangerous place at the moment. We have the war in ukraine and we have now a war, a possible war in in israel that as richard, some serious knock on effects, not just around the world, but in the uk as well. World, but in the uk as well. Oh, it does. Lee and its horrific. Absolutely horrific. We all know about whats gone on in ukraine. This this Israeli Palestinian war is an absolute horror show. And the key thing is to try and prevent it from spreading elsewhere in the middle east. And the unbelievable thing is there are, of course , some of these militia of course, some of these militia groups , these terrorist groups, groups, these terrorist groups, who actually want it to spread. They want to cause more destabilisation in the middle east and further afield. And thatis east and further afield. And that is a really , really that is a really, really dangerous situation for the whole world. As you say, not not just for the regional conflict. And thats why youre seeing huge diplomatic efforts from the us president , from rishi sunak going to israel this week and yeah, the impact on us in the uk, we think its a long way away now. Theres already discussions about what happens to humanitarian aid. Should we to humanitarian aid. Should we take a whole load of refugees . How much money should we be spending there . And actually spending there . And actually i think many, many people here in the uk will say, hang on, weve just taken huge numbers of refugees from ukraine. Were sending huge quantities of weapons to ukraine. Where does this end . Actually, weve got to this end . Actually, weve got to look after our own. Weve got to look after our own. Weve got to look after our own. Weve got to look after our own british people. And i think that is the sense that im getting from people and down the country. People up and down the country. Vince, conflicts around so, vince, conflicts around the can we do more to the world, can we do more to help . There isnt a great deal britain could do. We were right to condemn appalling attack to condemn the appalling attack on israel. And were not right now to demand humanitarian assistance. Assistance. Yes. But as far as britains concerned, there may a modest concerned, there may be a modest refugee issue, but actually the countries that are going to be faced refugee crisis are faced with refugee crisis are countries turkey and libya, countries like turkey and libya, not not the uk. I mean, what countries like turkey and libya, not not the uk. I mean, what may affect us further down the road is if iran gets dragged into this crisis , they shut the this crisis, they shut the straits of hormuz. We get straits of hormuz. We get a massive new energy shock cost of living crisis. I mean, thats how it will eventually affect lis. Us. Us. You see, richard, you know, wars around the world, we sort of left this behind 80 odd years ago. We thought that was the end of it. Weve seen wars around the world, but its always a long way away. And we dont get personally, you know, we dont feel personally involved in it. But actually now with but this actually now with russia these two russia and these these two conflicts, ukraine is actually its in the heart of europe. And this middle eastern war. And the truth is , the world is and the truth is, the world is a smaller place. Yeah and the impacts on us and vince is quite right. I really worry about the risk of a major increase in energy prices. Oil, gas prices of petrol and diesel at the pumps. All of these things this winter could soar. Thats where weve got to be really careful. And of course thats what the likes of iran and others in the middle east. Thats what they want. They earn more cash out of that. Serious questions have to be. But think weve got be asked. But i think weve got to clear about this. You to be clear about this. You know, fund know, frankly, those who fund these iranians and the these wars, the iranians and the like, they frankly, there are consequences to this. And i think the i think the americans President Biden signing that deal with iran that does look as though thats had very serious direct consequences here. So in next year, vince , we so in next year, vince, we could have a change of president in the in the United States. We could have trump. I personally think hell probably win on the back of whats happening in america and whats happening around the world. Would that be around the world. Would that be a thing, do you think, to a good thing, do you think, to happen . Because you know, people sort a sort of accused trump of being a being , but they seem being a warmonger, but they seem to bit more peace to be a little bit more peace around the world when he was in charge . Well the probabilities of winning are certainly high. And be rising. I think it and may be rising. I think it would disastrous for one big would be disastrous for one big reason that his main instincts are to withdraw into the United States and not to become involved. I mean, the United States historically, post wars played a generally very positive role in helping to stabilise things, set the rules. Theyre currently doing all the right things in ukraine, for example, and trumps instincts will be simply to withdraw from all that. And create even more chaos than we currently have. So, richard, i mean, the United States is traditionally the police force of the world. And im crystal clearly, if trump had been in power, the ukraine war would not have happened. Lets remember, happened. And lets remember, many argue even some of his critics greatest critics say that his greatest successes actually were in the Foreign Policy area. Some of his achievements in the middle east start to bring countries together had never come to together that had never come to any form of diplomatic arrangement or agreement. Arrangement or agreement. Actually, those were real achievements. I dont think trump would have allowed afghanistan withdrawal to happen in the way that it happened. So in the way that it happened. So he is a very strong , tough guy. He is a very strong, tough guy. And frankly , you know, i and frankly, you know, i subscribe to the view. The best subscribe to the view. The best way to guarantee peace is to prepare for war. And that was trumps mantra. And i think it would have been led to a much more stable place than weve got at the moment. Vince i mean, the middle east got massive problems. Ive actually been went israel last year been i went to israel last year and spoke to people on both sides of the argument. I think most ordinary people, wherever you are the world, just want you are in the world, just want peace. Want live side by peace. They want to live side by side, harmony. Know , side, live in harmony. You know, Work Together or whatever. You know i mean . Ive asked know what i mean . Ive asked before, vince, i said before, what can to try and what more can we do to try and stabilise that region . Because what palestinians want and what the palestinians want and what the palestinians want and what maybe the israelis want, theyre never going to come together with certain parts of this this argument. This this this argument. Think that analysis well, i think that analysis is right. This is a problem without any obvious solution. And we can do at the moment and all we can do at the moment is try to stabilise it and is to try to stabilise it and prevent the, you know, atrocities is mounting on both sides. I mean, we were right to take a firm stand in defending israels right to protect itself against terrorism and we should be equally firm that there now needs to be proper humanity, syrian assistance, that its completely wrong to cut off food and water from civilian populations. You know, weve got populations. You know, weve got to be balanced in the way we deal with this. And, you know, arguing that although israel is absolutely right to protect itself and to fight hamas , you itself and to fight hamas, you know, they mustnt overreact. They mustnt react through rage rather than justified anger. But this has been going on for 70 years, as vince has alluded to. And somethings got to change. The only way this changes , frankly, is if you changes, frankly, is if you destroy hamas. And i think thats what israel is probably trying to do. The issue is, is that proportionate . And what that proportionate . And what tragically is the Collateral Damage . Very odd to empathise with people in a country like that because we dont know what its like to be there to live there, to see those rockets coming oven to see those rockets coming over, to see schools and hospitals destroyed, you know. Right around you. So its a terrifying time. And sometimes i terrifying time. And sometimes i think that people around the world dont always empathise and sympathise with whats going on in countries. But its so in these countries. But its so important that we that we recognise the struggles theyre going through and recognise that they do need support on both sides. You say the children and the residents in the normal residents in palestine that probably need that to get through because that aid to get through because theyre the victims as well. Empathy is important, well, empathy is important, but important is that, but even more important is that, you know, there are rules governing war. I mean, its the one that protects us from one thing that protects us from complete barbarism that, you know, conflict is governed by certain rules, including the protection of civilians and thats the one thing that we as as a i cant get me out of ground rules in the tragedy is, of course, hamas dont abide by any rules whatsoever. And the truth is they nick our humanitarian aid. They nick the water pipes. They nick the food. And this is what were deaung food. And this is what were dealing with. They control the whole of the gaza strip. Be under no illusion. That is the reality. And sadly, many people reality. And sadly, many people are sort of fed into the hamas machine and youve got to cut the head off the whole machine. Okay. Do not go away. Coming up next, weve got the yes or no quiz. Ive got richard and ive got vince. This is the part of the show, guys, where there is no cowardly behaviour. Theres no cowardly behaviour. Theres no scurrying about hiding behind a answer. Its a politicians answer. Its got to yes or no. Its not, to be yes or no. If its not, you get marked down. So well start with you. Richard should footballers be taking the knee . No. Vince. Yes if they choose. Vince. Yes if they choose. Well that was a three word answer. A nswer. Answer. I think i might just give you i think i mightjust give you off for that one. Okay vince. Should the bbc licence be scrapped . No yes. Yes. Yes. Straight answer, richard. Do you think we should have pr voting in the uk . Yes, definitely. Yes. Yes, definitely. Yes. Yes, definitely. Yes. So i wonder why jones number four, vince will donald trump be the next us president . The next us president . Yes, i fear so. You fear so. Yes, i fear so. You fear so. Same question to you, richard i no, no, i dont think you will. Okay. And last question number five, richard. Should the house five, richard. Should the house of lords be scrapped . Yes, definitely. Yeah yes, definitely. Yeah why . Solid answers. There you did struggle a little bit. Why . Solid answers. There you did struggle a little bit. Yes. Did struggle a little bit. Yes. No, i wanted to add you wobble. Wobble. Wobble. I mean , no, it wasnt a i mean, no, it wasnt a qualification. It was just giving my reasons. Youve done this quiz before. Its ive done this yay or nay, but anyway, do you want to come back on one . No, im not going to change my answer. I just like to add a bit of decoration. Irans thing. Qualify irans thing. Qualify irans thing. Right. Yes. Right. Yes. Right. Come back on one. So ill come back on one. So ill come back on one. I think the democrats i think that the democrats i dont think biden will be on the ballot paper in the president ial election. There be election. I think there will be a late coronation of a different democratic candidate, someone like gavin like Michelle Obama or gavin newsom. Why think newsom. And thats why i think that against a candidate, i that against such a candidate, i think trump struggle. Think trump may struggle. They if they manage yeah. If they if they manage to like youre to organise it like youre right. But that requires quite a lot of political adeptness. Theyre playing the tough guy events. Well, that could that do it for him . It could, yeah. I mean, the one thing that really surprises me about trump is that he hasnt given up on his friendship with putin. Youd have thought putin. Okay. Youd have thought that states. Yes, that in the United States. Yes, thats , bad position to be thats a bad, bad position to be in. But hes not given up on it. Well, is it a friendship, richard . Richard . Whatever it is . Whatever it is . I think its i think its two strong men face up to each other. And i think trump has a reputation. Dont mess with me. And actually , when he was and actually, when he was president , that worked. As president , that worked. As i said earlier in the program, he prevented wars and i dont think wed be in the situation were in now if he had been president after the 2020 election. So but after the 2020 election. So but a chest thumping this what do not go away because coming up next, weve got vince back around the table. Hes here with daily mail columnists Quentin Letts. Thats a versus right. This is gb news radio show. Where right. Its time for right versus left with Quentin Letts and vince cable. Lets go for it. Guys close together. But you it. Guys close together. But you know, lets not get too argumentative. Women sports. Weve seen this week again , weve seen this week again, gentlemen, weve seen the offensive competition in america where, lets be honest , a bloke where, lets be honest, a bloke has turned up and hes took on women in this over 70s competition. I think it was. And competition. I think it was. And hes actually beat a finnish lady and it was i think shes won this competition many, many times before. But basically vince the blokes turned up is competed against women and hes won a title. Should this be allowed to happen . Well, i would hope that the Fencing Association of america stop the number of over stop it. But the number of over 70 fencers the world, i mean, 70 fencers in the world, i mean, it must be in single figures. I mean, this isnt exactly a massive problem. And you know, this whole issue, it really depends what kind of sport were talking about. If youre talking about football, athletics, swimming. Yeah male characteristics. If characteristics matter. If youre about eventing or youre talking about eventing or horse racing, it clearly doesnt. Or brain sports, you know, bndge. Or brain sports, you know, bridge and chess. So its up to the Sporting Association to sort out not politicians. I mean i mean, youre right, vince. I mean, its not coming up on the doorstep. People arent complaining to me or emailing about about about this sort well, they are similar sort of. Well, they are similar issues, quentin, obviously issues, but quentin, obviously be back in the 70s there was sort of during the World Championships and the Olympic Games we probably remember i remember as a kid we had sex testing. They actually literally had to check some of these. I had to check some of these. I think it was eastern german, east german athletes, the women, the shot putters. The shot putters. Yeah, the east german shot putters. Yeah. Many of them were strange looking souls. But there was renee richards, who was a tennis player who started off life as a man and then competed in womens tennis and i remember at that time i was watching a sport as a youngster. I thought it was all a wind up. I thought i thought, this must be a joke. Yeah and it turned out that it was serious. And then it sort of that practise seemed to go away. And now its come back. And its not just in the fencing world. Where i come, by the way, fencing means putting something in the field to stop the cows getting out. But this is a different type of fencing. But but know a few. One of my one but i know a few. One of my one of sisters was fencer and of my sisters was a fencer and they are very serious about their sport. And its a sport of terrific skill and also stamina. But to me its also a sport not necessarily against the person youre fighting. Its within themselves and youre trying to do best, and thats what do your best, and thats what strikes about story. The strikes me about this story. The man or the former man who competed and won, where is the self satisfaction for that person in beating a woman . Because surely in sport youre competing against yourself. Competing against yourself. Yeah. And if youre going to be honest, you should be taking on people. And theres a reason vince, why we have mens sports and womens sports now , i did say on womens sports now, i did say on gb news earlier this week that if this continues to happen, we could have a situation and it might sound ridiculous. But, you know, we live in a ridiculous world at the moment. We could have a situation 20, 30 years have a situation in 20, 30 years time where we world time where we have a World Championships, non Olympic Games where theres no biological women because these women competing because these men have to keep this. Men have to keep doing this. Theyre going think thats an theyre going to think thats an easy world easy medal. Thats an easy world record. Ill compete record. Ill ill compete against women. Against the women. Did continue to well, if it did continue to happen, right. But happen, youre right. But actually, sports, now actually, most sports, its now very mean , the swimming very clear. I mean, the swimming people, athletics people people, the athletics people have said cant have men have said you cant have men competing women theyve competing as women and theyve drawn line and thats it. I drawn the line and thats it. I mean, you know, fencing is such an sport. I mean, you know, fencing is such an sport. I mean, mean, you know, fencing is such an sport. I mean, there an obscure sport. I mean, there must be two schools in britain that teach it, Something Like that. And its about speed of reaction. Id have thought that, you could you know, men and women could probably compete against each other. Know. Does other. I dont know. But does it matter . Really matter . Matter . Does it really matter . Well, i. I, i think going back to your point about in 30 years time, maybe i dont think any geezer is ever going to be able to take on the likes of Nadia Comaneci for agility or being supple. There certain yeah, there are certain things gymnasts its always going to be noticeable where youve come from, so to speak, but also what strikes me about this, its a terrible own goal, to use another sporting metaphor in know couple in that i know a couple of youngsters who are transitioning and sensitive , and they are sensitive, vulnerable souls and what this sort of thing does, it makes people angry and it makes people angry against trans. And thats unfortunate and it makes people recoil from trans as opposed to trying to help them. Yeah, and thats whats thats whats the pity thats whats thats whats the pity about. I think thats exactly the right reaction. I mean we shouldnt penalise trans people as a group. Theyre very but theyre victims in this 1 in 200 or something of that order. We shouldnt penalise them as a group because they often have real problems adjusting because of 1 or 2 people cheating trying to people cheating and trying to play people cheating and trying to play games in sport. Yeah, play silly games in sport. Yeah, its selfish. Its just very selfish. This lady or not so lady this this lady or not so lady fencer is just being very selfish. And i looked at the stuff online of the after there was an interview after the competition and there was just a tremendous self satisfaction in evidence from this person , evidence from this person, rather sort of selfish, but was he was he proud of himself because he or satisfied because hes actually won a medal or won a title or because he cheated the system . I think just self absorption. Yeah, self absorption. Yeah, basically. And youve got to be careful. Youve got to be careful. Youve got to be careful. Lee anderson, youre going to have to be future with the pronouns if theres the pronouns because if theres a government, then the a Labour Government, then the pronouns, youll get pronouns, you know, youll get taken to chokey. Youre taken off to chokey. If youre not think, oh come on, not well, you think, oh come on, you think thats true, but you think theyll be knocking on my door if i misgender absolutely. If i misgender somebody is, is proposal. Yeah. Yes well, its a proposal. But the chances of it being acted on are zero. I mean, i this is one area where i think this is one area where hopefully we get across the political. So it is a proposal. So it is a proposal. This isnt going to get out of control. Is a proposal . And whos is it a proposal . And whos proposing nonsense . Is it a proposal . And whos pro well,| nonsense . Is it a proposal . And whos pro well, i nonsense . Is it a proposal . And whos pro well, i dontjnsense . Is it a proposal . And whos pro well, i dont know;e . Is it a proposal . And whos pro well, i dont know whos well, i dont know whos proposed it, but its certainly not well, i cant speak for starmer, imagine for starmer, but i cant imagine for a hes seriously a second that hes seriously advocating it. So, quentin, do we need some training . Going to be in are were going to be in trouble . See you wandsworth. Trouble . See you in wandsworth. Except 2 full, so we except its 2 or 2 full, so we wont get there. Wont get in there. Yeah, good luck. Yeah, well, good luck. I think. I mean, i guess some people watching now would people watching this now would be quite angry. Will be people angry. There will be people angry. But the is it but thats the trouble. Is it hypes anger against hypes up anger against a Vulnerable Group because of some silly silly silly idiots. A few silly idiots. Think thats fair. Yeah, i think thats fair. Yeah, i think thats fair. Wheres it all going to end, vince . This. This nonsense, this. Competing this. This man competing in womens i actually think womens sport. I actually think its a of a wind up from its a bit of a wind up from some them. Dont think they some of them. I dont think they i think thats probably right. Ive had trans in my ive had trans people in my surgery the surgery talking about the problems they face. Ive surgery talking about the probsome they face. Ive surgery talking about the probsome in they face. Ive surgery talking about the probsome in everyday ce. Ive surgery talking about the probsome in everyday life, ve surgery talking about the probsome in everyday life, but had some in everyday life, but this does them no favours at all, it . All, does it . Favours at and then no favours at all. And then it also becomes problematic when you impinges of you get impinges on freedom of speech and the jk rowling business social media dont business and social media dont help. I think just help. So i think we all just need to keep very calm. But also hope that the sporting authorities just stop to authorities just put a stop to this nonsense. Think theres another i think theres another thing, never comes up thing, vince. It never comes up on doorstep. Again, it on the doorstep. But again, it is important talk about is important to talk about it and is, i look at and it is, i think look at people like my mother and my sisters. Eroding sisters. Its sort of eroding their rights. Young girls as well. Well, it doesnt come up on the doorstep. Maybe, maybe not. But it comes up a lot in social media and at Labour Party Media and at the Labour Party Conference the conference outside the conference, walking along conference, i was walking along and was this big and suddenly there was this big fight protest, and and suddenly there was this big fi group protest, and and suddenly there was this big fi group of protest, and and suddenly there was this big fi group of feministsirotest, and and suddenly there was this big fi group of feminists weret, and and suddenly there was this big fi group of feminists were being a group of feminists were being surrounded by a group of trans protesters. And things got really very nasty. Really nasty, very nasty. And the had be there to the police had to be there to maintain Police Maintain the maintain the Police Maintain the peace. You know, it may peace. Yeah. So you know, it may not doorsteps, not come up at the doorsteps, but causing some political problems. Yeah, its real life, isnt it . Happening. It . Its happening. That is nonsense. But no, that is nonsense. But i think you you pitched it correctly. I mean , in 20 years correctly. I mean, in 20 years as an mp , i think ive had 3 or as an mp, i think ive had 3 or 4 cases of people whod changed. And, know , were really and, you know, were really struggling psychologically with some of the problems. And these are the people that need our support and need to wrap our arms around these people give give them people to give them give them that and make sure that that support and make sure that their service is are their best service is are available for them. But i keep their best service is are availa back. R them. But i keep their best service is are availa back. Quentin, ut i keep their best service is are availa back. Quentin, the keep their best service is are availa back. Quentin, the thisi going back. Quentin, the this bloke a bloke whos bloke whos who is a bloke whos in a womens competition, hes doing them. No favours at all. Hes creating resentment , doing them. No favours at all. Hes creating resentment, but no, at all. No, not at all. Then you wonder how far and then you wonder how far it goes in sports, like boxing, for instance. Former for instance. We have former blokes getting involved in female boxing matches. Well, i female boxing matches. Well, i mean, one certainly hopes not. But you know, it could get really nasty. Yeah and young girls, ive said it before, theyve trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 theyve trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 or theyve trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 or 5 theyve trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 or 5 years yve trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 or 5 years old trained and young girls, ive said it befor4 or 5 years old toiined and young girls, ive said it befor4 or 5 years old to be d from 4 or 5 years old to be swimmers. You know, they pull a shift in every single day. The parents up everything for parents give up everything for them. You know, fast them. And then, you know, fast fonnard 15 years. If fonnard ten, 15 years. If theres championship or theres a championship or whatever, up , whatever, some bloke rocks up, you know, whos probably not in the 500 of swimming events the top 500 of swimming events and then jumps in a pool and beats them by half a length. And he thinks thats good. It happens in and it happens in weightlifting as well. It would be if that happened, it would be a and doing a travesty. And im doing weightlifting confess, weightlifting. I must confess, if theres 70s if theres a over 70s weightlifting championship , i weightlifting championship, i worry about steel. Worry about steel. Yeah. Pure steel. Yeah fitted boxers, arent you . Listen, weve got. Thats been a great conversation , but ive just been conversation, but ive just been told that theres some common sense incoming. Weve got gary, sense incoming. Weve got gary, the cabbie, and going on the road with him next. Great news back in the cab with gary. The cab. Its been a few weeks, gary, but yes, driving around london week , theres been london this week, theres been a few hot topics, some interesting conversations. What are people talking about in the back of your cab . Gary well, unfortunately, the main one theyre talking about is israel and palestine at the moment. So whats the sort of moment. So whats the sort of feeling out there . A lot of sympathy, people angry people concerned , gary, angry people concerned, gary, all of that like the concern for what could, if anything, could happen over here. Yeah, theyre on tender hooks and people are asking me, is it safe . Are we all right . And safe . Are we all right . And reassure , bring all the tourists reassure, bring all the tourists that theres more police about than youre ever liable to see. Yeah i suppose thats one thing i do forget about sometimes is gary, is that the amount of tories that you get in your car . Probably a lot of americans and people from there. So they must be really concerned as well. Yeah, they are. But you know, theyre quite the americans are very just get on very good. They do just get on with it. They are. She once you say them, oh, look, theres say to them, oh, look, theres police, see police, even if you cant see them, theyre there. Im fine. Them, theyre there. Im fine. Yeah, its a fair point. Gary, you think the tourists gary, do you think the tourists obviously, lot them obviously, you see a lot of them feel london. Feel safe in london. Yeah, do. I do, because is yeah, i do. I do, because is more so now. Um, although you more so now. Um, although you dont see as Many Police Officers about in the main things around parliament and the main Tourist Attractions there is plenty about. And i also see that a favourite friend, mayor khan , hes obviously bought in, khan, hes obviously bought in, hes expanded the ulez scheme , hes expanded the ulez scheme, which he will argue will help clear up the atmosphere and make it healthier for drivers and for people that live in and around london. And thats the sort of argument he would put fonnard. So we have to listen to that. But theres been a bit of a up this past few weeks over some of the on the cameras. The charges on the cameras. As believe so. Like i as yeah, i believe so. Like i say, it doesnt affect us because black drivers dont because black cab drivers dont have to pay the ulez so i dont really get involved with that. But the and that, but through the news and that, but so that people are but the more so that people are moaning the silvertown moaning that the silvertown tunnel easily built yet tunnel that easily built yet yeah hes put the prices up already for power that it isnt even built yet so let me get this right its not been built theres people not travelling through the tunnel. Theyre not paying to go through tunnel. But already through the tunnel. But already theres price increase, theres been a price increase, price increase 4 to £6. But price increase from 4 to £6. But i guess, i guess for a bit of balance there, that would balance there, gary, that would be that that be mary khan arguing that that price is good for price increase is good for peoples health. So thats gary the cabbie back in cab, more the cabbie back in the cab, more of same , hopefully, gary of the same, hopefully, gary next week. Oh well, that must be last orders at the bar and tonight im joined by the very lovely lady, victoria hervey. Hello. Thank you for having me. Thats a right pronoun , that me. Thats a right pronoun, that is. I dont really do the pronoun thing, but if we do, do it, thats it. Lets talk about the press and the royals as the press. Been a little bit harsh on on meghan if you ask me meghan you know if you ask me that, a couple of years ago i would have said, yeah, they have been really harsh on her. But i think that everything that has come out with a lot of the fake stories that she has put out in the media, like the fake car chase , these are all fake car chase, these are all things to gain sympathy that have backfired. So does one really feel sorry for that . Well i was actually let into a secret , victoria. I was actually in new york with nypd on a trip when the with the nypd on a trip when the alleged car chase took place. And they told us that its impossible to have a car chase in new york because the traffic is bumper to bumper. And it was it took it took an age. So why would she that , it took it took an age. So why would she that, playing it took it took an age. So why would she that , playing the victim . So playing the victim card. And this is a very woke thing. This victim that they this is the victim that they like they to always be like to they like to always be become victim to gain become the victim to gain sympathy. Why . Sympathy. B ut why . Sympathy. But why . What does it achieve getting that sympathy . Well, i dont think it has done anything for her, particularly. But harry as well, like hes become hes just a bit of a moaner and people dont like that. You see, harry used to be a Firm Favourite into the role he was. I used to love harry and loved him and as a great bit of a lad, you know, he does does his duty for the country. A lad, you know, he does does his duty for the country. Um, you know, hes a sort of like he could have gone have a pint with and another laugh with and then you whinges. Yeah. You look at whinges. Yeah. I mean at meghan. I think mean look at meghan. I think a lot of the British Public actually feel that weve been that taken away that harrys been taken away from that harrys been taken away frorwell, he has. I think well, he has. I think literally word taken like literally that word taken like his mind has been taken and completely brainwashed by her. I dont think he has his own identity anymore. Its all her her, her. I think she pulls all the strings about like what he does, how he acts , who he sees does, how he acts, who he sees at. And its really sad, actually , to see someone like actually, to see someone like him who was so outgoing and so loved by this country. Loved by this country. Be lets talk about his uncle, right . Andrew is he going to make a return to being what they you know, what they call a working royal at some stage . Will you become a working royal . Well, i think lets see. I will probably i think things will probably change in the public domain. How the public does think about him as more and more comes out. Hopefully there will be a way back for him. So a lot has happened to the royal family over the past five, ten years. Weve no longer got a queen, which was probably left which was that was probably left a massive hole in whole of a massive hole in the whole of the is it time , the country. But is it time, victoria, do you think, to modernise the royal family . The royal well, i think the royal family is modernised. I think william are doing william and kate are doing a really job. I think theyre really good job. I think theyre very popular. Obviously like charles, you know, he he waited for this role all of his lifetime. Hes waited a long, long time for it. And i think it will be easier when it is time for william and kate to take oven for william and kate to take over. I think the younger generation, they they the appeal of william is more than charles. I dont think the younger people really connect with charles as much as they do with william because hes got like the fairytale princess at the side of him, hasnt he . Exactly who was, you know, a normal girl, you know, not titled from a, you know, middle class background. And shes living the fairytale. And shes living the fairytale. So weve got wilkie of the week, victoria , i know youre looking victoria, i know youre looking fonnard to this. Fonnard to this. This is where we got three woke organisations or people thats probably done something outrageous or silly throughout the week. And the first one weve got is the Royal British legion. Now theyre saying that they sell poppies they cant sell poppies in brighton because theyve got no organisers go out sort organisers to go out and sort out the sellers on the out the poppy sellers on the street. Im thinking street. Now im thinking to myself, street. Now im thinking to myself , theyve about 100 myself, theyve had about 100 years this , right . Years notice for this, right . Mean, this is something i mean, this is something that every single year. That happens every single year. So they figure so how did they not figure that out . Seems a very lame out . That seems like a very lame excuse. Are the other two . Excuse. Who are the other two . And they get enough money, by the. The other one is the the way. The other one is the i dont how to do this dont know how to do this without swearing. Its the list. So i guess youre going to bleep that this is a list of that out. But this is a list of 50 people who the magazine think called the new european have decided that these are the worst people in the country for whatever reason. Now, im pleased to announce that im on that list. Im number. In fact, im on it. Actually, i think its probably like a big thing to actually make get on that list. Its quite well done. Its a badge. It means that you have affected people in a way and so they are showing it and also on they are showing it and also on the list, weve got james obrien. Hes a well, he calls himself a broadcaster, a journalist , but a broadcaster, a journalist, but hes a nuisance. A broadcaster, a journalist, but hes a nuisance. He a broadcaster, a journalist, but hes a nuisance. He presents a hes a nuisance. He presents a show on lbc and he he seems to make this list every week. I make this list every week. I think what it wants. He spends think what it wants. He spends his time having a go at people like me and some of my colleagues in parliament. And hes just an irritating little man. I hope youre watching this, james. So youve got three. Youve got three to pick from. Youve got the bell, youve got the list. Bleep that out youve james obrien out and youve got james obrien right . Right . F n t right . I have the gosh, would i have the wokeist of the week . I dont know. James obrien seems like the most annoying. The most annoying. Well, ill go with that. James obrien , you are wokey of james obrien, you are wokey of the week. Why are we on the subject of victoria of royals . Is he a bit of wokery in the royal family, do you think . There a little bit. I is there a little bit. I think the fact that um, you know, the queen never meddled with anything besides her sort of role. She stayed away from politics talking about things that Climate Change thing is a big thing. And so is charles still talking to plants and flowers . You think . You think . You think . I dont know. I dont know. I dont know. He i dont know. He likes i dont know. He likes to garden. I hear that. I hear that he does. Like his gardening. Um, i wish he would stay away from that whole Climate Change talk. Um, that would be right. Weve got you behind the bar for a reason. So weve got for a reason. So weve got a pint pot. Pint pot. Ive never done this before, by the way. Okay, youve got. Okay, youve got. I havent. And youve got to pull it. Youve got to pull a pint in 30s. No cheating. Theres no blowing the froth. 30s 30s. And then when its full, you have to bungit then when its full, you have to bung it on the bar, and then well get crew to tell me well get the crew to tell me when we going go for it . When are we going to go for it . Ill do a countdown. Ill do a countdown. No, you can go for it. Now. Just. Just pull tap back. Just. Just pull the tap back. Okay . Okay . Put pint pot in. Put the pint pot in. Put the pint pot in. Okay. Thats not bad. Okay. Thats not bad. Actually, think a actually, i think youre a little bit too quick there. Oh oh, wow. Oh, wow. Ive got to go it right ive got to go fill it right to top. Normally, we have we to the top. Normally, we have we have people doing this, but have two people doing this, but right, right, okay. Right, right, right. Okay. On the bar and so put that on the bar and yeah, not very is it . Yeah, its not very good, is it . Is that not good . Is that not good . Thats not good. Thats you would it too fast. Would probably did it too fast. Yeah. Mean, can i try one more. Yeah, go for it again. Okay. All right. If i serve that to somebody. Victoria i think theyd probably not the pub. Theyd not come back in the pub. Theyd probably you. Youd probably leave and you. Youd probably leave and you. Youd probably leave and you. Youd probably leave in shortly after with your cards. With your cards. Why is it. Oh dear. Oh no. Why is it. Oh dear. Oh no. Why is it. Oh dear. Why is it doing this. Oh its. Oh its. I think actually thats, well i think actually thats, thats probably worse than the first one. Yeah a little bit quicker. Is it just too slow now. Okay. Got it. Got it right at the top. So no. Wow. I mean, youve done the impossible. Ive actually done the impossible. Actually done the impossible. I dont see. I dont see. Im gonna ask somebody in the crew. To actually mark that. Crew to. To actually mark that. This ones not good. This ones not good. What do we think, guys . In fact, you can mark both, and then well add them together. And i still dont think youll get one. So did i do it too slowly . I dont know. I dont know. Too fast. Too fast. Victoria. Lady. Victoria. Lady. Victoria, youve got two for the okay. The two. Okay. Not going to be working im not going to be working in a pub. Its a shocker. Its a shocker. Youre on the board. Youre going on the board. Youre going on the board. To meet you.
