Attack was clearly absolute barbaric in nature , so they have barbaric in nature, so they have an absolute right to defend themselves. We have asked them to ask us when they need anything specific. They say, and those those conversations are ongoing. But you know, i think ongoing. But you know, i think the main thing that they need is understanding and support from the rest of the world right now , because what happened was unprecedented and frankly, pure evil. Evil. Im sorry, sophie. Nobody warned you. Weve got an impostor in the house, but it is lovely to have you here. Great to be here. Great to be here. Fantastic. You know, im sure well find some reasons to be cheerful today. Its bleak cheerful today. Its a bleak news situation there. Of news situation out there. Of course grim. Course it is grim. Absolutely horrific. Its absolutely horrific. I mean, you cant imagine mean, you just cant imagine unless about what unless you think about what would if london, would happen if london, a thousand londoners were killed in three days. How we feel in three days. How would we feel . Yeah, absolutely. Well, of course, well, this is, of course, what were talking about, because there is a one place to start this morning. Is the start this morning. That is the shocking about the massacre shocking news about the massacre of children, babies, of families, children, babies, grandparents in israel. The defence secretary, grant shapps spoke this morning. Spoke to gb news this morning. Hamas behaviour and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. That has no place in beheaded. That has no place in the 21st century that is at a different and completely different and completely different moral scale to a country defending itself. Actually we typically trying to give notice before, for example , a building is hit what they call knock and drop. So theres actually opportunity for people to get out. To get out. The response, richard , that the response, richard, that was grant shapps on gb news this morning has been unequivocal, really, hasnt it . Just absolute condemnation. Absolute condemnation. And frankly, anybody who doesnt condemn it, youve got to ask serious questions their serious questions about their own of those own motives. Some of those demonstrate cities demonstrate shooting in cities up the uk , i think, up and down the uk, i think, have actually horrified most decent, people. It really decent, sane people. It really has. Just utterly , utterly horrific. It is horrific. And i dont it is horrific. And i dont know about you, but i very much worry about where this goes. Now worry about where this goes. Now were going to have Liam Halligan in the studio later actually to talk about oil actually to talk about the oil price because this is price effect, because this is where the reverberations will be felt as well. Here. The geopolitical implications are absolutely massive because weve not but two weve now got not one but two possible regions , all conflicts possible regions, all conflicts and if youre the leaders of israel , you are and if youre the leaders of israel, you are steaming mad, youre absolute lutely fuming, youre saying, and enough is enough. This has to stop. But theyve got a serious geopolitical responsibility and theyll be very aware of that. And some Big Questions i want to ask simon about is actually how much interaction they have. For example, with the us. Yeah, thats simon dunkirk , yeah, thats simon dunkirk, whos be in the studio whos going to be in the studio in just a moment. Of course, its been very interesting to see america, see the response from america, from biden, but also, from from joe biden, but also, of from donald trump. From from joe biden, but also, of here from donald trump. From from joe biden, but also, of here isom donald trump. From from joe biden, but also, of here is whatonald trump. From from joe biden, but also, of here is what the. D trump. From from joe biden, but also, of here is what the formerp. From from joe biden, but also, of here is what the former us and here is what the former us president had to say. President had to say. But the same people that attacked israel are pouring into our once beautiful usa throughout our totally open and southern border. Theyre coming southern border. Theyre coming in at record levels. Well heres in at record levels. Well heres what hes trying to raise. What hes trying to raise. Awareness there, of course, is if you have lots of undocumented people arriving in your country who malicious your country who have malicious intent towards the west, we might see something there and here. Thats right. And of course, Suella Braverman. She Suella Braverman. I mean, she was in her was criticised heavily in her speech in washington saying that actually multiculture realism has she wasnt the has failed. But she wasnt the first. Tony blair said david first. Tony blair said it. David cameron Louise Cameron said it. Dame louise casey said it. She got a lot of criticism. But i think thats what were seeing. And i think this is the shocking scenes that were on our own streets, were seeing on our own streets, our its i think our own cities. And its i think its really, really divisive and people have got to be incredibly careful. Absolutely. Weve got were seeing pictures from gaza , seeing pictures here from gaza, but actually some of the pictures which i found really shocking have been the pictures in this country. The roads shocking have been the pictures in this country. The roads were in this country. The roads were brought to a stand still at the weekend with with palestinians. Weekend with with palestinians. And it is important to draw a distinction. I think, between Hamas Terrorists and palestinian people. The majority of whom would want to live a peaceful existence. Yes, absolutely. And actually, i went to the back end of one of those demonstrations on night, demonstrations on monday night, just people, i just spoke to some people, as i say of it. And they say, at the end of it. And they werent actually palestinians, but they were arabs. And they were out their were sort of setting out their case. Do think they case. But i do think they refused to condemn the actions of hamas. That, i think, is of hamas. And that, i think, is just reprehensible. And so its just reprehensible. And so its so shocking for anybody. Yeah so moving on, of course, the other big story this week, the Labour Party Conference and work out actually well trying to ascertain what a Labour Government would look like what sir keir starmer took to the stage yesterday for stage yesterday to pitch for your were seeing the your vote. Were seeing the footage a protester covered footage now. A protester covered the Opposition Leader with glitter ahead of his speech and i mean just unbelievable, starmer promised a decade of renewal under labour. Labour therefore, assuming that hes going to win two terms, said he aims to create a britain that is built to last. Thats right. One thing that keir starmer said that caught my attention richard tice tice, leader of the reform uk, was this know some people dont this i know some people dont like the word reform , but i tell like the word reform, but i tell you now there is no other option i how wonderful of him to endorse your party like this. There. Ive written a part of his speech. I mean, weve had a bit of fun with that, its fair to say, on social media. Just couldnt resist it. Can i ask you where the word reform came from for your party . Because it is very clever because there isnt a politician that the word reform that doesnt use the word reform and nigels idea. And it was nigels idea. Nigel farage. Nigel farage was back in 2019, actually was idea back in 2019, actually , always wanted , it was already always wanted to very clever. He to do. Hes very clever. He worked out and also. Worked it out and also. But you recently i saw it your conference youve actually added brexit at the added the brexit party at the end it. End of it. We have indeed, because we wanted to highlight the link that to be the that actually we used to be the brexit party hard building a brexit party is hard building a brand. People werent aware brand. Many people werent aware of its an important of that and its an important linkage. The linkage. Its part of the debate. Labour want to take us closer back to the eu and were saying actually no, the opportunity its opportunity is there. So its important linkage. Important to make that linkage. Okay, fantastic. Right . Joining in right . Joining us now in the studio labour simon studio is former labour mp simon danczuk. As mentioned before, danczuk. As i mentioned before, we speech we talk about starmers speech yesterday, simon, can i get yesterday, simon, can i just get a you what is a reaction from you on what is happening israel . Happening in israel . Absolutely oh, its absolutely devastating more we learn devastating and more we learn about done in about what hamas have done in israel. It becomes more terrifying. Murder of terrifying. The murder of babies, festival goers. I mean, babies, festival goers. I mean, the situation is truly awful and its spilling out onto the streets in britain, isnt it . And which is horrifying for the Jewish Community. I think we need to see some tough action. And i will be pleased to see some arrests in the uk in terms of the protests that are going on in the uk to firmly show these protesters , these people these protesters, these people who are backing hamas, that were not going to be were not going to put up with it here in the uk. So you would youd actually like people who are protesting even if is peacefully if even if it is peacefully if theyre waving a flag, want theyre waving a flag, you want to them arrested . Theyre waving a flag, you want to well,em arrested . Theyre waving a flag, you want to well,em. Not;ted . Theyre waving a flag, you want to well,em. Not necessarily , well, not not necessarily, but but a lot of it isnt peaceful. We saw the israeli flag being removed from Sheffield Town hall. That was shocking. Yeah, its absolutely shocking. Yeah, its absolutely shocking. Yeah, its absolutely shocking. And attempt to put up the palestinian flag. An arrest the palestinian flag. An arrest should clearly be made in relation to that. And there are other incidents that i would suspect warrant arrest and prosecution. And thats what we need to see. The government, the police have to be tough on this. Its an incredibly fine line, isnt it . Simon between the right to free speech in a democracy like ours, but actually, this is a proscribed terrorist organisation. Perhaps the bbc should learn that, frankly, because they to frankly, because they seem to not be willing to make that point. And is the balance, point. And that is the balance, isnt it . Yeah. And it comes back to this issue and touched upon this issue and you touched upon it richard , about it earlier, richard, about multiculturalism. So Suella Braverman was absolutely right. Braverman was absolutely right. It is multicultural ism has failed in this country. Weve imported a particular view in terms of the middle east. Weve brought that into the country. Its predominant, not completely, but predominantly held in the Muslim Community in this country, whether its arabs or in the pakistani, bangladeshi or in the pakistani, bangladeshi or other communities in this country. And its coming to the country. And its coming to the fore now. So when we see issues and problems in the middle east, it flares up as we are seeing now. And thats not acceptable for the Jewish Community. Have to say, its and i have to say, its frankly, you go of these frankly, you go to some of these demonstrations, scary. Its demonstrations, its scary. Its terrifying. Of the video terrifying. Some of the video footage in centre of london footage in the centre of london and you think, what is going on . I mean, its just truly shocking in our country to have that level of fear demonstrating peacefully is one thing. But actually, once youre letting off fireworks, huge , huge noise off fireworks, huge, huge noise and creating a sense of fear on our streets and bringing that International Conflict , which International Conflict, which is, you know, very much of that region here. Simon yeah. What so what i guess what a lot of people are raising the question and donald trump was saying the same thing, is how do we how does this work . What the risks to british what are the risks to british people now . What are the risks to british peo oh, now . What are the risks to british peooh, real now . What are the risks to british peooh, real risk . What are the risks to british peooh, real risk because and oh, real risk because and i reiterate the point, we have imported this problem. We because we such so strong in support in free speech, we allow people to say what they want, but people take it too far. And thats what were seeing. So peaceful protest is acceptable. Peaceful protest is acceptable. But creating fear, as youve described , is totally described, is totally unacceptable. And more unacceptable. And more intervention from the police as they do in france would be welcome. Welcome. Do you think the police are sufficiently on it in terms of the risks to the Jewish Community across the uk . But here, particularly in london, it doesnt they are, it . I dont think they make enough interventions. I think the and sadiq khan, who the police and sadiq khan, who has responsibility for the met police, asked to direct them more strongly. He should be saying expect to be saying i expect arrest to be made and that will put a marker down. We have to be tough on this start as we mean to go on. Khan was very slow off sadiq khan was very slow off the mark to even condemn sadiq khan was very slow off tidont rk to even condemn sadiq khan was very slow off tidont knoweven condemn sadiq khan was very slow off tidont know whether demn sadiq khan was very slow off tidont know whether you noticed i dont know whether you noticed Mark Drakeford in wales was very slow the mark. Humza yousaf slow off the mark. Humza yousaf as well, who actually has family in palestine. He was a little in palestine. He was a little slow off the mark to condemn. I think thats not appropriate when youre in positions of power in this country. Power in this country. Listen, was in the labour listen, i was in the labour party nearly 30 years and the reality is that the labour party relies heavily on particular communities for votes. This is the reality of it. So they are hesitant , the reality of it. So they are hesitant, some of the reality of it. So they are hesitant , some of them the reality of it. So they are hesitant, some of them in the labour party are hesitant about being too critical or too negative in relation to palestine. And thats where this hesitancy comes from. Its all about votes. Thats the reality of it. And talking about fear , the i and talking about fear, the i mean, keir starmer , actually his mean, keir starmer, actually his speech when he was essentially assaulted by a protester, a brief flicker of fear on his face. But i thought all credit to him, he dealt with it incredibly well. But if i was him, i would be steaming, raging at their own security procedures i yeah, the security looks to have been exceptionally poor at this. How can he have been that close to him for that long . And eventually its the woman in the back who jumps out and takes him down. Simon dereliction down. Simon its a dereliction of the security duty at that conference. Yeah, absolutely poor. I mean, its ironic, isnt it, that that i think its done him some good. I think hes recovered from it. It helped him to the point about were to make the point about were a party power, not protest. So party of power, not protest. So i think hes recovered from it. All the headlines today are about mr glitter and Everything Else. The shine from starmer and all the rest brilliantly. But ive been a lot of these rallies when i was standing alongside nigel farage and, you know, he obviously has to have security at these events. But those personnel , all those security personnel, all they outwards. They are looking outwards. Theyre the theyre not looking at the speaken theyre not looking at the speaker. Looking speaker. Theyre looking outwards any threat. So outwards at any threat. So theres no way that could have happened rally that that happened at any rally that that nigel and its nigel had been out. And its just extraordinary. Breach makes the labour that breach makes the labour party bit amateurish in a way. Yeah, you would have thought theyd moved closer to being more getting to more professional. Getting on to the thought it was the speech, i thought it was a very professional speech, very well prepared. Probably the best conference keir starmer Conference Speech. Keir starmer has ever made an exceptionally good performance, you know, almost providing a vision in terms of rebuilding the country. But you would have hoped that the organisation of the conference, the professionalism from the speech would have been replicated in organising this conference. It just shows a kind of new means of protesting now, doesnt it, as well, which think is a it, as well, which i think is a shame because i dont want to live in a world where all of our elected officials to have elected officials have to have guys in their ears guys with mikes in their ears stirring were stirring around. Were not america. Guns. America. We dont have guns. I dont like that. But obviously it shows. And i was interested. I presumed at first he was going to terrorist. To be an eco terrorist. I thought i thought hes going to be an eco. Eco protester. I be an eco. An eco protester. I thought he was going be just thought he was going to be just stop obviously a stop oil. But obviously at a different it was about democracy. Lovely see democracy. Simon, lovely to see you. Good to see you. Thank you. Bizarrely, its as that protest keir protest gave actually keir starmer extra confidence through his so his speech. He dealt with it so well. He then did, he well, what he then did, he took jacket off. And as we took his jacket off. And as we know, keir is very happy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes is very happy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes got is very happy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes got his is very happy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes got his jacketry happy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes got his jacket off appy took his jacket off. And as we know, hes got his jacket off and when hes got his jacket off and hes got his sleeves rolled up and looked more comfortable and he looked more comfortable then, despite then, didnt he . Despite the slightly distracting glitter in his hair. Right moving on, labour plans to labour has unveiled plans to teach calling real teach what theyre calling real world maths in primary world maths skills in Primary School. Education school. Shadow education secretary school. Shadow education secrsayy a that will say in a speech that children as young as four should learn literacy, learn Financial Literacy, including budgeting and Currency Exchange including budgeting and currency exchang editor hannood Political Editor tom hannood joins the labour joins us now from the labour conference liverpool. Tom, conference in liverpool. Tom, this sounds completely this just sounds completely bonkers. As rishi sunak said, he bonkers. As rishi sunak said, he wants teenagers to learn maths and thats fine. If you want to understand Exchange Rates as a teenager, makes some sort teenager, that makes some sort of. But a year old of sense. But a four year old does need to know to does not need to know how to apply for a mortgage. Tom whats she talking about . Were all waiting i think were all waiting with bated breath to see the actuality of this speech this morning, because certainly some of the briefing beforehand might have been little bit have been a little bit overzealous trying to really push back against the vision of rishi sunak doing maths in later life. The labour party wants to present a clear alternative , present a clear alternative, saying actually its the early years that counts, although using the phrase Financial Literacy might well have been a little bit too far when in fact it may well be as simple as, you know, teaching Young Children about pocket money and the importance of budgeting in that sense, not letting everything run away with you. But certainly it will be an interesting point. Its Bridget Phillipson up first this morning and then its wes streeting, the Shadow Health secretary as well. Two of the secretary as well. Two of the biggest names speaking today, but of them might well feel but both of them might well feel like its a little bit of a struggle after the festivities of last night. Unlike in the conservative partys conference where the leaders speeches on the last day, the labour party has the leaders speech on the penultimate day , meaning that penultimate day, meaning that the last night of conference really people do let their hair down a little bit more. And i have to say it was interesting looking at half the shadow cabinet getting up on stage at the Party Last Night the mirror Party Last Night singing karaoke. Now, i believe weve got a little bit of a clip to give you in the audience. A little bit of a feel of what last night was like. Dumas given last night was like. Dumas given the rules. The rules. So right. The rules. So right. You sing in liverpool, come. On oh, scarlett liverpool, come. On oh, scarlett mccgwire. Hey, she knows. Its mccgwire. Hey, she knows. Its late to aidan magee lord balfe bucha ive never seen so obe. Bucha ive never seen so obe. Ipp. My well. Ipp. My well. Oh, well, well, were all a bit speechless here, tom, to be completely honest. Theres nothing more cringe, is there, than to be than politicians trying to be cool stage. How was it . How cool on a stage. How was it . How was. How was the week been was. How was the whole week been for you . The labour party has been trying to not be complacent this week. They know theyre 20 week. They know theyre 20 points ahead in the polls. They know that things are going well for them as things stand. But the watchword caution the watchword has been caution in cautious speeches. Caution announcements, trying to not look too triumphalist, trying to say that this is a party that wants to earn votes rather than believes theyve already got them in the bag. But i think when perhaps the partying gets a bit hard, its hard to sort of keep back the general sense of positive unity there is at this Party Conference. This is a Party Conference. This is a party that believes they are heading into government and perhaps they were celebrating a little bit early last night. Little bit early last night. Okay. Thank you, tom. Thank you very much. You bring us all the latest. You wouldnt get me dancing, thatis you wouldnt get me dancing, that is for sure. Not on one of those. Can you just not definitely Prime Minister, definitely a Prime Minister, richard . Richard . Ill there the oh, no. And joining us now in studio is Marco Robinson, actor, producer , star of number two on netflix movie you dont look much like a movie you dont look much like a movie star this morning. Thank you. I cant lie. Harsh. Thanks very brutal. Very brutal. But we listen, we had you on a few weeks in talk. We a few weeks ago in the talk. We were talking about the fact that you were to do this. You you were going to do this. You did try to get me to join you. Obviously, have obviously, i would have done. But here this but i had to be here this morning with richard. How was it . It was fabulous. Yeah. I mean, obviously, ive been there on the streets. Ive been homeless. Ive in homeless. Ive been in situations where i felt hopeless. The great hopeless. Yeah but the great thing last night was the thing about last night was the people that with were people that i was with were campaigning some of campaigning with me. Some of them been in them hadnt been in that situation, them was situation, so for them it was a first yeah. And you first experience. Yeah. And you know, were not saying that one night being homeless in any night of being homeless in any right makes you understand it, but it certainly gives you an insight. Yeah. And the great thing about last night was we met a lot of Homeless People and we stories. We heard the stories. Just remind us so what just remind us briefly what your briefly in a nutshell what your story was, how you ended up homeless. Tell a little homeless. But tell us a little bit people met bit about the people you met last well. Bit about the people you met lasiso well. Bit about the people you met lasiso i well. Bit about the people you met lasiso i was well. Bit about the people you met lasiso i was homeless at two with so i was homeless at two with my mum. My mum, my dad was a gambling addict, so she left him. Was was two. She him. She was 23. I was two. She moved north of england. Moved to the north of england. It cold. It january to it was cold. It was january to live her and stepdad, live with her mum and a stepdad, but go there. But she didnt want to go there. That was like a last resort. And on doorstep step dad on that doorstep her step dad said mum, its either me said to her mum, its either me or them and her mum said, you cant here right now. What cant stay here right now. What i didnt was my mum was i didnt know was my mum was sexually abused she sexually abused since she was four old by stepdad four years old by her stepdad and was sorry when she and when he was sorry when she was 12, he put his hand on her breast and said, it didnt marry your mum your i married your mum for your mum. I married your mum for your mum. I married your mum for your mum. I married your mum to get to you. Thats pretty horrifying. Is sort of and is that is that a sort of typical tragic story that you hear talk people . Hear when you talk to people . Yes, night. It is. Yes, it is last night. It is. And marco , we dealt better and marco, we dealt better with people during the with Homeless People during the covid crisis. Why is it slipped back . Mean, seeing far too back . I mean, im seeing far too many all central london, many all over central london, Oxford Street down in victoria. Why have we allowed it to slip back . Well, covid was the answer to every homeless persons dream a five star hotel, all meals paid right to clean up the streets, so to speak. But now everyones back on the street because no government in the world has any system. Give aired to help people in situations. Nations where, for situations. Nations where, for example, they lose the job, they cant pay the rent or the mortgage. The Mortgage Rates gone through the roof, as you know right now. And the cost of living. W absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. People would say so but some people would say we very a very generous we have a very a very generous benefits system this in this benefits system in this in this country. Is there. The country. And it is there. The safety People Safety net is there for people if reach out and if they want to reach out and get why is that not working . Get it. Why is that not working . Its not working because there is of housing and is a shortage of housing and theres a shortage of Affordable Housing for people to get on the first of the ladder. First rung of the ladder. Theres also a shortage but theres also a shortage of for Housing Social housing. But theres also a shortage of for you sing social housing. But theres also a shortage of for you know, icial housing. So on day five of israels war on hamas, shocking details are emerging of a massacre during which the terror groups assaulted israeli commandos. Amenities. A warning, commandos. Amenities. A warning, these images are disturbing. These images are disturbing. The military told reporters that entire families were found deadin that entire families were found dead in their homes, including unbelievably babies. Unbelievably babies. Thats right. Israels Bombing Campaign on gaza continues this morning. And hamas have also fired rockets into. Into israel. The casualty numbers are mounting , frankly, by the hour mounting, frankly, by the hour on both sides as israel put their death toll at the moment at around 1200. And the gaza Health Ministry reporting at least 900 people have been killed in airstrikes. Killed in airstrikes. Were joined now by gb News Reporter charlie peters, who is in tel aviv. Good morning, charlie. Just just let us know really what the situation is like there on the ground in tel aviv. Aviv. Well, there is an atmosphere of terror here. The civilians local to tel aviv are disturbed, as you can imagine, by the general sense of unease over the last five days since the terrorists invaded the country in the south early on saturday morning. But many of the people in tel aviv are not local. Theyve been sent here after extracting from southern israel , where they have endured some of the atrocities that you have just mentioned. The attention now turns to what israel will do next as they move to the next phase of this war. As you can see, obviously, they are conducting those airstrikes in gaza very heavily. Dozens of aircraft rotates in and out of the area, almost constantly. We can hear fighter jets flying over us even just before we came on air, several jets were flying oven on air, several jets were flying over, headed south towards gaza. This is clearly the sustaining and the shaping phase of a potential Ground Invasion. Can potential Ground Invasion. Can they prepare the ground to launch the first invasion of the gaza strip since 2014 . Its a big question. And idf commanders ispoke big question. And idf commanders i spoke to last night said theyre just not sure if they can do it now. They might need a couple more days. Clearly since saturday, there has been a ginormous security challenge , an ginormous security challenge, an intelligence challenge in particular, with many terrorists crossing the border unexpected, using new technology, new training and new tactics and new procedures. They will now have procedures. They will now have to assess if Hamas Terrorists have the capability to resist the might of the Israeli Military. But around the world, Israeli Soldiers are returning to israel to support that effort. They have activated 360,000 reservists. But even though the worlds of Israeli Forces are returning, they still have to contend with the new threat of a new front. The lebanese threat. Now fire has come across from southern lebanon into northern israel in the last few hours, and there has also been shelling across from syria. From syria. Charlie, charlie, to these threats. Threats. Theyll have to see if they can contend with two fronts and a potential invasion. And so charlie, who actually makes now because and so charlie, who actually makesare now because and so charlie, who actually makesare massive now because and so charlie, who actually makesare massive decisions, ause and so charlie, who actually makesare massive decisions, is|se these are massive decisions, is it the Political Leadership under netanyahu and what role do the leaders of the idf play and how many people get involved this this talk of a sort of almost like a coalition of unity, but actually, is that a pipe unity, but actually, is that a pipe dream . Whos whos really pipe dream . Whos whos really in charge in making the decision as to how they respond . As to how they respond . Well, the government of the day, i mean, netanyahu is under significant criticism after the security challenge faced on saturday. But idf commanders and other intelligence and Security Professionals is clearly feeding into what is being described now as a unity government. Only as a unity government. Only a week ago, there were serious protests against this government in this city, against their proposed plans with the judiciary. And weve also heard judiciary. And weve also heard reports earlier in the year of some soldiers going on strike. All talk of that has been cancelled. This is a united cancelled. This is a united front against the situation in gaza , against the incursions gaza, against the incursions into southern israel. And as i said , support from idf said, support from idf commanders very clearly about how they can sustain this potential Decisive Action with a Ground Invasion into the gaza strip. Strip. And charlie, how much role will the us have in that decision . Will they listen to decision . Will they listen to the us . I mean, theyve got a series aukus geopolitical responsibility as well as also looking to protect their own citizens. Well theres no doubt citizens. Well theres no doubt that the us is already providing intelligence support to israel, as it always does , but its as it always does, but its going further now since the un precedented terrorist attacks starting on Early Saturday Morning last night, the first munitions from the us arrived at a southern israeli airbase. These are advanced munitions and the israelis accepted them very gladly, saying that they would use them in the next phase of their plan and that their mission could now be carried out. But at the same time, the us is sharpening the israeli spear. Theyre also trying to extend a humanitarian hand. This morning the Us National Security adviser said that they were looking to secure a new humanitarian bridge between gaza and egypt. Thank you, charlie. Charlie peters there in tel aviv. In israel. Were joined aviv. In israel. Were joined now by the editor of the jewish chronicle, jake wallis. Simons good morning, jake. Thank you very much for joining us. Good morning, jake. Thank you very much forjoining us. First of all, our sympathies , our of all, our sympathies, our condolences for what is a horrific time for your community. Just first of all, before we talk about the situation here in the uk, which i really do want to have your take on, just reflect on the absolute barbarity of what unfolded over the weekend masquerading just murderous intent massacre , raiding as intent massacre, raiding as politics. Well i think the masquerading as politics part comes from the useful idiots in the west who just refuse to see hamas for what it is , which is hamas for what it is, which is a terror group from the same ideological origins historically as the Islamic State and carrying out the same types of methods on the same types of victims. Victims. You know, yesterday was a particularly grim day with, you know, babies was found beheaded, children found beheaded, men, women and children, the elderly, corpses mounting up. Even the death toll hasnt been correctly assessed yet because new bodies are being being found all the time. The atrocities are similar time. The atrocities are similar in approach in nature and in ideology to that perpetrated by isis and indeed by al qaeda. All three have roots in the Muslim Brotherhood , which has brotherhood, which has influenced heavily by propaganda influenced heavily by propaganda in the middle east during the second world war. Now this really, i think, is no exaggeration to say that its the worst jihadi atrocity in history, certainly against any western style democracy. It western style democracy. It needs to be recognised as such. Needs to be recognised as such. Theres been some comparisons with 911, but this is bigger than 911 proportions. Ali. The number of israelis killed in that very small population is equivalent to about 7500 deaths in britain. In britain. And thats the point, isnt it . Actually, jake, when you compare it to london, which is about the same size in population to the whole of israel, a thousand londoners israel, if a thousand londoners were slaughtered were killed and slaughtered on our the space of our streets in the space of three i mean , we would be three days, i mean, we would be utterly , utterly outraged, as utterly, utterly outraged, as well as being very, very fearful and demanding serious revenge, serious retribution on what is the greater emotion at the moment in israel , jake. Is it moment in israel, jake. Is it fear . Is it revenge or a huge combination of the two . Well there are extraordinary pictures coming out of israel last night of people in their apartment blocks singing and cheering, flashing their lights on and off, reminiscent a little bit of what happened during covid, when people expressed solidarity in that public way. So theyre trying to raise the morale across the country. The morale across the country. The thing is, you know, the jews are an ancient people and this is for us. And these is not new for us. And these massacres, these atrocities evoke memories of the pogroms of Eastern Europe and russia , evoke Eastern Europe and russia, evoke memories, of course, of germany and the einsatzgruppen, who went from village to village shooting people. Even further back people. And even further back into times well. So into mediaeval times as well. So we have long memories of this kind treatment and the advent kind of treatment and the advent of israel changed the attitude of israel changed the attitude of jews. But no longer are we to going see ourselves as the victims or go like lambs to the slaughter. But were going to stand up and fight back. And so i that israelis, you know, i think that israelis, you know, that more than anybody that spirit more than anybody else, and they are marshalling that today at the moment. So amid all the fear and the horror and the grief and the shock and the trauma , of course, whats the trauma, of course, whats coming out is this National Solidarity that just wants to be allowed to live to defend their homeland and to live as a free people in their land. In the words of the Israeli National anthem. Just let me ask you, because i think some of the pictures i found the most shocking have beenin found the most shocking have been in the protests, the celebration actions. And im going to use that word in sydney, new york, in london, sydney, in new york, in london, actually, the palestinian flag being raised by young women celebrating what is by any definition, the murder and military rape of other women. I find that utterly mind blowing. Find that utterly mind blowing. Just reflect on what its like to be jewish in this country at the moment. To be jewish in this country at the moment. At well, i mean, this is this is finally people are seeing what israel has been contending with all these years. Israel is all these years. Israel is on the front line of this battle, which is derided as a culture war, but is important. Which is derided as a culture war, but is important. You know, war, but is important. You know, people who celebrate that the murder of more than a thousand men, women and children on the streets of london are part of the problem, not just for israel, but for western values and western civilisation across loss, across the across the west. And they are seeking to undermine the things that we all hold dear. Israel is the only democracy in the region , in it democracy in the region, in it upholds the rights of women and minorities in a way that no other country does. In the middle east. Those are values that we share and an attack on those values in britain is an attack on us all. And no one feels that more keenly than the british Jewish Community who at the are enduring extra the moment are enduring extra security measures around schools and and so forth. And synagogues and so forth. And wrote important and you wrote an important article the article yesterday in the spectator , jake, the spectator, jake, about the united , as was sort of United Nations, as was sort of riven with israeli phobia. Just touch on that because it was, i think, a really significant article you wrote. Article you wrote. Well, israeli phobia is the title of my book, which came out a few weeks ago. The subtitle of it is the newest form of the oldest hatred and what to do about it. And that is clearly seen at the United Nations statistically , israel has been statistically, israel has been condemned last year by the Un General Assembly 15 times for its supposed indiscretions. By comparison , every other country comparison, every other country in the world cumulatively we have been condemned 13 times from russia to iran to venezuela to north korea to china and so forth. There is a very clear bias against the jewish state by which principles of International Law and fraternity, International Fraternity, International Fraternity are being weaponized to destroy israels and undermine israels right to defend itself. Calling for a separation barrier which has protected israel from suicide bombs , calling that an apartheid bombs, calling that an apartheid war, calling the sealed gaza border, which has protected israel up until the other day from jihadi violence, calling that an open air prison. This sort of social justice language is rife throughout the un, where in the United Nations Human Rights Council just on monday , Rights Council just on monday, they refused even to say the word israel, but instead stood for a minute silence with the supposed palestinian victims. That was before the war had really come to gaza. This is outrage bias at the un. It filters out through many of our international and National Institutions through sort of piggyback on the suite of luxury beliefs that dominating the elites of our culture in the west, including gender, ideology, perspectives on slavery, sex, colonialism and our history. And added to that is a very, very biased and partisan view on israel and palestine. Im sorry to interrupt you, but i do want to hear your thoughts on this. Is this the end, do you think, of a potential two state solution briefly . Briefly . Well, thats a big, big question. I think the two state solution has been floundering really for quite some years, ever since it collapsed into an intifada in the 90s. Its very difficult to keep an eye on the big political picture. Now, when things are so fast moving and when there are existential threats to israel, not least from iran, which is pulling many of the strings in these atrocities, atrocious events. I mean , look, i think i stand with mean, look, i think i stand with all the Jewish Community in britain and around the world in saying that we respect and wish to protect the lives of Palestinian Civilians as well as israeli civilians. And we want israeli civilians. And we want peace for both sides , peace in peace for both sides, peace in the region. But when you are contending with the jihadi butchery that weve seen, its very difficult to know how a partner for peace is possible jake. Thank you, jake. Thank you, jake. Thank you, jake. Our thoughts are with you. Jake Wallis Simons there from the. Jewish chronicle. Risteau the. Jewish chronicle. Risteau were going to be hearing from the chair of the Jewish Labour Movement, jeremy newmark, on labours response to the israeli hamas we are gb israeli hamas war. We are gb news britains news channel the Camilla Tominey show sunday mornings from 930 on. Gb news is. News is. Hello. You are with britains newsroom here on gb news with myself, richard tice and bev turner. So sir keir starmer took the stage yesterday to pitch for power during the Labour Party Conference, but of course it was disrupted at the beginning by a protester covering the Opposition Leader with glitter ahead of his speech. He held on ahead of his speech. He held on to him for a very long time, in my opinion, before security. In fact, the woman in the background, just fact, the woman in the b. Steward. D, just fact, the woman in the b. Steward. She just fact, the woman in the b. Steward. She doesnt just fact, the woman in the b. Steward. She doesnt even ust fact, the woman in the b. Steward. She doesnt even look a steward. She doesnt even look like security got involved. A steward. She doesnt even look like its urity got involved. A steward. She doesnt even look like its unbelievable. Lved. A steward. She doesnt even look like its unbelievable. Lve starmer its unbelievable. So starmer promised a decade of promised us all a decade of renewal under labour and said that he to create a britain that he aims to create a britain thats built to last. Joining now is a local so joining us now is a local councillor, but also former chair of the Jewish Labour Movement , Jeremy Jeremy movement, jeremy newmark. Jeremy really good to see you this morning. Thank forjoining morning. Thank you for joining us. Talk to you about us. We want to talk to you about the situation middle east us. We want to talk to you about thnthe uation middle east us. We want to talk to you about thnthe moment. Middle east us. We want to talk to you about thnthe moment. Weveddle east us. We want to talk to you about thnthe moment. Weve just east us. We want to talk to you about thnthe moment. Weve just seen at the moment. Weve just seen that of keir starmer. That footage of keir starmer. How do think did how do you think he did yesterday under that of yesterday under that pressure of that . That protester . Well, i think his response was absolutely the right response to use the protester to highlight the way in which this party has changed under his leadership from a party of protest to the party that will form the next government of this country. Country. Just explain to us what you mean by that. So people who didnt see the whole speech, he he it, as you say, to he did use it, as you say, to his what he his advantage. Explain what he did. Well , you know, he he did well, you know, he reacted instinctively. He reacted instinctively. He completely in character for keir and absolutely took this in his stride and turned around to the audience. And he said that is audience. And he said that is the sort of action that is the sort of idiocy that he, under his leadership , has moved this his leadership, has moved this party away from away from being a party of protest, party away from away from being a party of protest , towards a party of protest, towards being a party fit for power. Bizarrely , actually, it bizarrely, actually, it almost gave him extra confidence. It seemed to me , in confidence. It seemed to me, in the way that he dealt with it. He just sort of rolled his sleeves up and just pushed on through adrenaline i i i think youre absolutely right. Fantastic so but he talked about being rebuilding britain. All of these new, new towns that he wants to build. But in reality, 1. 5 build. But in reality, 1. 5 million homes in five years, we havent built 300,000 homes a year for at least 50 years. Do you think thats seriously credible or is itjust a you think thats seriously credible or is it just a just a good slogan for a Conference Speech . Speech . Well, i do think its credible. And i think its clear credible. And i think its clear from the emerging policies that have been coming fonnard at this conference that labour does and will have a plan to do that. I know as leader of a Borough Council just on the outskirts of london, that the most significant problem facing our residents today is that of housing, particularly the lack of decent, Affordable Housing, enabung of decent, Affordable Housing, enabling families to live in the same area, enabling parents and children to be able to and grandchildren to afford to live within the vicinity of their own families and this is the issue of the day. And i believe that of the day. And i believe that under keirs leadership, labour does have a plan and solution to be able to deal with that. But jeremy, i know its difficult with these sorts of speeches because often leaders of parties dont want to upset anybody, so they try to play with safe bat. But it with a rather safe bat. But it was little bit word salad, was a little bit word salad, wasnt it . Things your wasnt it . Things like get your future what does that even future back. What does that even mean . Mean . Well, you know , the nature of well, you know, the nature of Party Conference speeches is that people forget that first and foremost as well as being a speech to the nation , they are speech to the nation, they are a speech to the nation, they are a speech to the party faithful, to the delegates in the conference hall. They have a role to inspire people come to hear these speeches for their annual shotin these speeches for their annual shot in the arm , to go back to shot in the arm, to go back to their constituencies, to pound their constituencies, to pound the doorsteps. Theyre looking for their injection of inspiration to keep them going for the year ahead. And thats for the year ahead. And thats what i think keir set out to achieve first and foremost. And what i think keir set out to athinke first and foremost. And what i think keir set out to athink in rst and foremost. And what i think keir set out to athink in contrastoremost. And what i think keir set out to athink in contrast to most. And what i think keir set out to athink in contrast to hisst. And i think in contrast to his immediate predecessor, you know , he did that well effectively , he did that well effectively, the atmosphere in the hall was electric. This was a speech that provided the inspiration that delegates were looking for. Jeremy, lets lets pick up on that point about the difference between him and his predecessor , the horrors were predecessor, the horrors were seeing in israel. Huge, huge questions now about how israel respond ads. And theyve got a massive responsibility, obviously, to their own citizens, but also geopolitical response ability because i mean, heaven forbid this could head towards a second regional conflict after ukraine. Well, look, i think first and foremost, the thing that struck me about the response, not just of keir starmer, but the entire labour front bench and delegates at the conference over the past 48 hours in reacting to these monstrous atrocities committed by Hamas Terrorists in israel , by Hamas Terrorists in israel, is that the response hasnt differed significantly from the responses of britains other mainstream Political Parties , mainstream Political Parties, because at the end of the day, this is about humanity, humanitarianism, humanitarian ism, the rights of israelis to live in peace , the rights of live in peace, the rights of jews in diaspora communities like our own , to live in like our own, to live in security without fear of reprisal and copycat type attacks. And what were seeing attacks. And what were seeing in the Current Labour Party leadership is a mainstream , leadership is a mainstream, responsible attitude, no disgrace bribing hamas as our friends or welcome guests, as weve seen in the past. But an atmosphere in which, together with the other mainstream Political Leadership of this country, labour is standing side by side in solidarity with israel, in solidarity with the british Jewish Community. Thats where jeremy is. Thats where the political mainstream is. Jeremy, can i just pick up on that point about the british Jewish Community . Are the police, particularly in london, doing confidence, doing enough to give confidence, to prevent that fear amongst jews, particularly here in london . Well, i lead a council , as well, i lead a council, as i say, just on the edge of london. Thats home to one of the uks largest jewish communities. And ihave largest jewish communities. And i have to say, the response of our local police has been fantastic. Ive been in constant dialogue with our local chief inspector, who has put extra resources on the table to patrol jewish buildings , jewish jewish buildings, jewish institutions, particularly dunng institutions, particularly during the jewish religious festival weekend over which these terrible events occurred. These terrible events occurred. So, yes, i think the police do recognise the severity of the situation. Ian, as we heard last situation. Ian, as we heard last night from from our shadow home secretary , yvette cooper, this secretary, yvette cooper, this is not something that is going to be solved overnight. This is a problem that we are to going be contending with both in the middle east and here in the uk and in other countries with jewish communities. Weve seen anti semitic incidents triple over recent days in my own constituency. We have stories of jewish families afraid to send their children to local Jewish Schools and Jewish Schools, advising people not to attend in their School Uniforms as its too identifiable. So i think the initial response from the police has been fantastic. And i hope and pray that theyll be able to sustain this level of additional response and additional resource in the weeks to come. All right. Thank you, jeremy. Thank you so much for joining all right. Thank you, jeremy. Thank you so much forjoining us this morning. Former chair of the Labour Movement the Jewish Labour Movement there. The there. Jeremy newmark, on the final the party final day of the Labour Party Conference. Come , the conference. Still to come, the massacre children weve just massacre of children weve just been hearing. Hamas has killed women, babies and children in one of the last villages to be recaptured from terrorist recaptured from the terrorist group. According to the Israeli Military. Passengers experience a holiday from hell as all flights to Luton Airport have been suspended until the afternoon after a huge fire ripped through the terminal car park. That and much, much more after your morning news with sofia wenzler. Sofia wenzler. Its 1032. Sofia wenzler. Its1032. Im sofia wenzler. Its 1032. Im sofia wenzler in the newsroom. Explosions are in the newsroom. Explosions are continuing in gaza this morning as israel prepares to escalate its response with a ground offensive. More than 200 targets were hit in a neighbourhood used by hamas to launch its attacks. By hamas to launch its attacks. Israeli troops killed at least 1000 palestinian gunmen who infiltrated from gaza. Sirens infiltrated from gaza. Sirens were heard in the north of israel this morning, warning of a possible incoming aerial threats from lebanon or syria , threats from lebanon or syria, raising fears the fighting could spark a broader International Conflict. These pictures are conflict. These pictures are coming to us live from gaza where you can see smoke filling the sky. Medicins sans frontieres describes the situation there as catastrophic, with ovennhelmed hospitals struggling to cope amid intense bombardments and dwindling supplies. Gazas Health Ministry says at least 950 people have been killed. Israel puts its been killed. Israel puts its death toll at 1200. The uks defence secretary, grant shapps, told gb news this morning that International Support for israel is crucial. Is crucial. Attack was clearly absolutely barbaric in nature , so they have barbaric in nature, so they have an absolute right to defend themselves as we have asked them to ask us when they need anything specific. They and those those conversations are ongoing. But, you know , i think ongoing. But, you know, i think the main thing that they need is understanding and support from the rest of the world. And right now, because what happened was unprecedented and frankly, pure evil. And all flights at london evil. And all flights at London Luton Airport are suspended until 3 pm. And people are being asked not to travel there after a large fire in a terminal car park. Car park. Videos on social media show flames and smoke tearing through cars parked at the airport terminal last night. Cars parked at the airport terminal last night. The fire terminal last night. The fire service says the place suffered significant structural collapse and that more than 1000 vehicles may have been damaged and five people were admitted to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation. And around 140 flights have been cancelled. And you can get more cancelled. And you can get more on all those stories by visiting our website, gbnews. Com. Im our website, gbnews. Com. Direct bullion sponsors the finance report on gb news investments that matter. Investments that matter. Its me and richard tice here this morning. Nice. Are you all right . Im fine. Im enjoying it. Im fine. Im enjoying it. Coffee, milk . Coffee, milk . Coffee, milk . No sugar, thanks. Oh, here she goes again. No you played right. Still to come this morning, gas prices are on the rise. Of course , but is there an element course, but is there an element of sabotage . Also to blame . Of sabotage . Also to blame . This is britain. Newsroom on gb news. Is Patrick Christys weekdays from three on. News you know, from three on. News you know, with britains newsroom on gb news with me richard tice and bev turner. So a leak in an undersea gas pipeline connecting finland to estonia has caused european gas pnces estonia has caused european gas prices to surge. Finnish prices to surge. Finnish authorities are reporting this could well have been sabotage as damage was unlikely to have occurred by accident. Thats right. So lets cross over to our economics and Business Editor Liam Halligan in liverpool this morning. Good morning, liam. We morning. Good morning, liam. We thought talking to you thought wed be talking to you about and gas prices about oil and gas prices going up because events in the up because of events in the middle east. And then this happens. Explain what we happens. Just explain what we know. Know. What we know, bev, is that Energy Prices have been going up steadily since the summer and too not many of us here in the western world want to talk about it because the idea we might be in for another winter of very high Energy Prices would undermine the whole notion that inflation is coming down. Interest rates are soon going to come down, were going to come down, and were going to hit the economic sun sunlit uplands. But reality, im afraid, is imposing on that scenario. The opec energy scenario. The opec Energy Exporters cartel, the Oil Exporters cartel, the Oil Exporters cartel, the Oil Exporters cartel, theyve been squeezing supply for several months now. Large due to their concern about the war in ukraine. They dont see the war in ukraine the way the west sees it. They see it from russias point of view. Oil prices have gone up from 70 to around 90 a barrel in the last couple of months, as any van driver will tell you, diesel and petrol have gone up a lot in price and now gas prices are starting to go up too. Have a look at some of too. Have a look at some of these numbers just last friday, bev richard , gas, natural bev and richard, gas, natural gas was £0. 88 per therm and yesterday it was up 120 £0. 05 £1. 25 thats a more than 40 increase. And as you say , thats increase. And as you say, thats because of concerns about sabotage on an important gas interconnector between finland and estonia. Thats been failing. The authorities are investigating that and also violence in the middle east. Of course, thats leading to concern about oil supplies more generally. A lot of oil generally. A lot of oil obviously comes from the middle east. And if this violence between israel and hamas escalates , then we could be in escalates, then we could be in for further energy price rises. Absolutely. And liam, this sometimes you can get a sort of speculative bubble from the traders on the back of this if they think its a one way trade upwards. I mean, 42 in just a couple of days on gas. This has serious implications in the west on inflation, ian and then everything that flows from that, i think this is a much, much more dangerous moment than anybody is giving it credit for. I think so. You know, i think so. You know, richard, youre a businessman. Richard, youre a businessman. You and i have been talking literally for months, havent we, privately, about our concerns about these energy price rises . And now here we are price rises . And now here we are talking about them on national television. A word on gas. Television. And a word on gas. We just use gas to , you we dont just use gas to, you know, heat up our baked beans on toast. Accounts for 40 of toast. Gas accounts for 40 of all Electricity Generation in the uk. Gas all Electricity Generation in the uk. Gas fired all Electricity Generation in the uk. Gas fired power stations the uk. Gas fired power stations are the real engine room of where we get our electricity from in the uk. And when the wind doesnt blow and the sun doesnt shine, its always gas fired power stations , which then fired power stations, which then take up the slack in renewable energy. So the price of electricity for both households and for firms already more expensive in the uk than anywhere else in europe, could go anywhere else in europe, could 9 up anywhere else in europe, could go up more. Anywhere else in europe, could go up more. This is anywhere else in europe, could go up more. This is an anywhere else in europe, could go up more. This is an awful thing for me to have to say. I know this will worry a lot of households, a lot of firms whove been looking fonnard to lower Energy Prices this autumn, but both on the front of gas and oil, the combination of what the opec Energy Exporter cartel is doing, the concerns that have emerged over the last 48 hours about more sabotage of pipelines in the baltics, of course , the in the baltics, of course, the pipeline between russia and germany was blown up. No ones quite sure who did that. Plus, violence in the middle east. Im afraid that unless things change, it points to higher Energy Prices as the as the nights draw in and winter comes i so let me ask you a stupid question. If you dont mind. Who benefits from this pipeline being damaged . Well thats a being damaged . Well thats a difficult thing to speculate about. Just, you know, just eyeing it from here. If Energy Prices are higher, obviously the Energy Companies benefit from that. I dont really want to get into the geopolitics of whether russia benefits or ukraine benefits or america benefits because were literally. Bev, because were literally. Bev, wed be here for about half, you know, half the morning discussing that to give that stupid that that complex set of ideas. The fair hearing that it needs. But look in the here and now theres going to be well it looks like there are going to be higher Energy Prices this winter than we envisaged they may even be high as last year. Than we envisaged they may even be high as last year. That, be as high as last year. That, of course, has implications for governments because theyre going start going to have to then start subsidising going to have to then start s1time sing going to have to then start s1time when governments are a time when governments are pretty cash strapped. Look maybe it wont come to this. Maybe energy come down. Energy prices will come down. But least, there are but for now at least, there are some worrying signs that some very worrying signs that were another winter of were in for another winter of expensive energy. Okay. Thank you. Liam, isnt it thank you. Liam, isnt it extraordinary that we dont create our own energy . Create more of our own energy . Tice. Richard tice. Richard tice. Maybe we should use our well, maybe we should use our own treasure our own Energy Treasure under our feet, and oil and feet, like shale gas and oil and gas. Unbelievable. Maybe we need to experts. Well to go to labour experts. Well we what do. What we will do. Pound, were not but stephen pound, were not talking yet. Sorry talking to them yet. Sorry sorry, guys. Sit tight for sorry, guys. Just sit tight for a have a moment because we have this huge broke yesterday. Huge story that broke yesterday. Weve heard from the chief fire officer in bedfordshire, Andrew Hopkinson, officer in bedfordshire, Andrew Hopkins at, officer in bedfordshire, Andrew Hopkins at Luton Airport. Take the fire at Luton Airport. Take a look at weve currently got four fire appliances and a couple of other sort of specialist crews, but we are very much focussed on getting a handover, very much focussed on getting a handover , you know, in terms of handover, you know, in terms of ba. 2 and getting this airport open as quickly as we can. And you know, we hope to do that in terms of advice for travellers, it remains the airport flights are not going to resume until the 3 00 pm at the earliest. But if you are scheduled to have a flight before then , then the advice is before then, then the advice is not to travel to the airport, but to check with your all travellers, to check with their airline as to when whether your flight is due and when its likely to do. If you have a car in any of the car parks, go to the Luton Airport website and they will signpost you and give you advice on what to do. Okay. So that was the very latest there and my brother does have a car in one of those car parks me this parks and has messaged me this morning car park is morning saying which car park is it . Has my car gone up in smoke . Has my car gone up in smoke . I mean, be of i mean, therell be a lot of people hearing this people on holiday hearing this and thinking that their prized possession gone boom. But actually, it was the but actually, it was the short park at luton. Short stay car park at luton. So probably people who were more likely dropping off, maybe likely to be dropping off, maybe and opposed to and picking up as opposed to gone on a two week holiday, knows . Absolutely sure. And what sort of car it . Sort of car is it . Who knows . Who knows . Who knows . Who what you mean . Who knows what you mean . The electric thats youre speculating. They tend not to blow up to be joined by, as we can see. Marvellous. Pound, marvellous. Stephen pound, former the former labour mp and the uk director sense director of common sense society, tend society, emma webb. What tend not up electric not to blow up electric cars . Well, i mean there have been rumours, been rumours, there have been theories odd has theories that the odd one has tended shatter small tended to shatter into small pieces, reality what pieces, but in reality what blows car up is actually blows up a car up is actually petrol i would petrol and gas. So i would imagine that theyre less flammable. Be very interesting itll be very interesting because its once once because actually its once once an electric car does catch fire, you cant put it out. You read my mind. And i was thinking, i bet this is a lithium battery, because if one car has set on fire, even if its a petrol car and sitting next to car and its sitting next to a car with a lithium battery, when those in flames, those things go up in flames, they up flames. They really go up in flames. Yeah, it is pure speculation, but the combination of the two, its a pretty dangerous mix, thatis its a pretty dangerous mix, that is for sure. Can we reassure your millions of viewers, please, that at the moment everything is safe at luton . Luton airport . Yes, but not Luton Airport . Yes, but not necessarily. If youve got an electric car in the garage. Im joking. Im slightly joking. Electric car in the garage. Im jokingaren slightly joking. Electric car in the garage. Im jokingaren sligiinv joking. Electric car in the garage. Im jokingaren sligiin which]. There are cases in which electric cars are bursting into flames once, particularly once youve had an accident, but also the people who park the scooters in their front hall, you know, scooters and, know, those scooters and, you know, those batteries hot. Yeah, batteries get very hot. Yeah, right. But obviously, the fire authorities do the work authorities will do the work that and find that they have to do and find out whether right out whether we are right or wrong. Moving on, stephen, wrong. Right moving on, stephen, lets the issue in the lets go to the issue in the middle east. Horrendous pictures still coming out of the bombardment. Now on both sides. Bombardment. Now on both sides. Your your response . Your your response . Yeah, a couple of things. Firstly, i think every single person, every single human being actually has huge sympathy for the victims of this , victims of the victims of this, victims of both sides. But theres in reality, its almost like weve reached the sort of the nausea overload level. Its almost horrific and its beyond horrific. We thought horrific and its beyond horri isis, we thought horrific and its beyond horri isis, actuallnght horrific and its beyond horri isis, actually reached with isis, wed actually reached that peak. But one thing that peak. But theres one thing that peak. But theres one thing that infuriate me. One, that really infuriate me. One, if you see the demonstrations yesterday in the day before, did you see the banners were you see the banners that were out there . Were by out there . They were produced by the party. Out there . They were produced by the were party. Out there . They were produced by the were handing party. Out there . They were produced by the were handing outirty. The they were handing out from the river sea. Palestine will river to the sea. Palestine will be free, you know, so the socialist Workers Party are the french politics. Socialist Workers Party are the french lice. Politics. Socialist Workers Party are the french lice. Theyreolitics. Socialist Workers Party are the french lice. Theyre parasites. Theyre lice. Theyre parasites. I mean, how dare they turn up to Something Like this and start handing out their posters with socialist workers this socialist Workers Party and this poon socialist Workers Party and this poor, innocent people are actually you they probably actually you know, they probably dont theyre doing. Dont know what theyre doing. So can we actually so how on earth can we actually take a party that take seriously a party that leeches onto the back and gets onto people onto the back and gives people these posters to and these posters to carry and chanting that is chanting a slogan that is straightfonnardly genocidal . That because thats what that means. Getting means. It means getting getting jews out of palestine from the river jordan to the mediterranean sea. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, how do you think they actually realise what theyre shouting . Do you think theyre shouting . Do you think they damage are they realise the damage they are doing very fabric of our doing to the very fabric of our society, of , of different society, of, of different communities . The fear in the Jewish Community, have they any idea what theyre doing . I think that it is nigh on impossible to take a charitable view of the people. So for view of the people. So for example, who were outside example, those who were outside of the Israeli Embassy , those of the Israeli Embassy, those who we saw in other western countries, like outside of the sydney opera house, who were shouting , sydney opera house, who were shouting, im sydney opera house, who were shouting , im not going to say shouting, im not going to say it because its breakfast television, but straightfonnardly anti semitic views, should say. Views, perhaps i should say. So people aware, but they can people are aware, but they can look it up online. The sydney one, emma for me, that the steps the that was on the steps of the opera are people shocking. The reason why i think that its nigh impossible to its nigh on impossible to be to give a charitable interpretation to these people have to say, oh, these people have just they just come out because they support palestine is because these people have seen the same things theyve things that weve seen. Theyve seen being seen that babies are being beheaded theyve that beheaded. Theyve seen that old women are being kidnapped and taken to gaza. One lady who was murdered in her own room murdered in her own living room and was on private and it was posted on her private Facebook Page her to Facebook Page for her family to see. Barbaric , see. These are barbaric, inhumane atrocities and anyone who looks at that and still goes along with a crowd of people who say free palestine , quote, by say free palestine, quote, by any means necessary , these this any means necessary, these this is not. And the same with the bbc referring to them as militants rather than as terrorists , because these are terrorists, because these are people that have committed the most abhorrent crimes. And we most abhorrent crimes. And we have people in british streets and western cities who are and in western cities who are going and celebrating those going out and celebrating those actions. And what disgusting and what shocked me, emma, was actually i went to talk to some of those people at the back end of those people at the back end of demonstration the of the demonstration outside the Israeli Embassy to ask them whether or not actually whether or not they actually condemned hamas condemned the actions of hamas and couldnt it, could and they couldnt do it, could not do it. Were going the whole they were going the whole whataboutery about history they were going the whole wha all utery about history they were going the whole wha all that. about history and all that. Yeah, theres context that yeah, theres no context that justifies whatsoever. Justifies this, none whatsoever. But to condemn i but that refusal to condemn i just thought awful. Just thought was awful. Shocking. Absolutely shocking. Absolutely shocking. I think Credit Credit to you for that, richard, because i think more people should actually do that. And think we actually do that. And i think we have this out. We have have to call this out. We have to call it out. We have to say, do you realise what youre saying . That saying . Do you realise that youre actually proselytising saying . Do you realise that yotgenocide . Y proselytising saying . Do you realise that yotgenocide . Y pros doising for genocide . There do you actually happening actually accept whats happening there . Of there . Are you on the side of there . Are you on the side of the murderers that people there . Are you on the side of the cutting iurderers that people there . Are you on the side of the cutting thezrers that people there . Are you on the side of the cutting the throats1t people there . Are you on the side of the cutting the throats of eople are cutting the throats of babies . Yes. We also need i think we also we need to talk about the fact that this is a for this a serious problem for us in this country because if you were a jewish now in the street, jewish person now in the street, particularly visibly particularly if youre a visibly jewish person, should be, you would feel terrified to know that there are thousands, possibly who either that there are thousands, pnveryly who either that there are thousands, pnvery overt who either that there are thousands, pnvery overt way, who either that there are thousands, pnvery overt way, supportither that there are thousands, pnvery overt way, support hamas a very overt way, support hamas or people who are very happy to or 90 people w h 0 are v e ry h a ppy to or people who are very happy to go along with it. And then a much Broader Group of people, including people outside, you know, people, people who are from all sorts of communities who broadly acquiesced or at who are broadly acquiesced or at least supine and willing to contextualise these kinds of horrors and now feel empowered. Horrors and now feel empowered. And this is now feel emboldened. They feel that they emboldened. They feel that they are now in the right and that they have historical justification and also current justify action to take retaliatory action against jewish people in this country. Jewish people in this country. Steve, if you look at state television iran and i television in iran today, and i dont you do , but ive dont recommend you do, but ive seen some al jazeera has actually some clips. Guess actually taken some clips. Guess what showing . Theyre actually taken some clips. Guess wha know, showing . Theyre actually taken some clips. Guess wha know, theyre ing . Theyre actually taken some clips. Guess wha know, theyre ing . Showing you know, theyre not showing these babies. Theyre these murdered babies. Theyre showing in london showing people in london and sydney york brussels sydney and new york and brussels actually hamas actually supporting these hamas stroke. Strokes, whatever stroke. Isis strokes, whatever the much Mainstream Media the main much Mainstream Media seems to be leading on the israeli retaliation rather than focusing on what they should be focusing on what they should be focusing on, which the focusing on, which is the massacre of innocent civilians , massacre of innocent civilians, is on keir starmer is just touching on keir starmer his speech yesterday , it was his speech yesterday, it was almost helped by that idiotic protester at the beginning. What are your thoughts on the overall speech . Very difficult to segue, isnt it, from whats happening in israel the labour party in israel to the Labour Party Conference starmer has conference that keir starmer has basically hes going basically said that hes going to opposition, the to ignore local opposition, the nimbys, to nimbys, local opposition to building new houses and to build 1. 5 million homes what he 1. 5 million homes on what he calls grey belt land, which is green belt land, but its car parks and so on. I think thats not going to go down very well in red wall areas. Of course, people need housing, but people are also very conscious to predict the countryside. So he seems struggling to seems to be struggling to present himself as a kind of almost more tory than tory. And i dont necessarily think thats going to play very well for him. But the reality sparkles were nice. Yeah, but reality is, yeah, but the reality is, stephen, weve never built 300,000 a single year 300,000 homes in a single year in the last 50 years. No , proportionately. Harold no, proportionately. Harold macmillan did it. Harold macmillan did it. Harold macmillan in the 50s in macmillan did it in the 50s in proportion population proportion to the population at the time. Whats the particular time. But whats fascinating richard, fascinating about this, richard, can you and gb news can i just say you and gb news should actually be given credit for labour for actually making the labour party, party of capitalism, party, the party of capitalism, because within half an hour of that incident , the gaffer that awful incident, the gaffer covered do you know covered in glitter do you know what was on sale in labour what was on sale in the labour party . Stalls Liverpool Party . Stalls in liverpool sparkle starmer t shirts. Sparkle with starmer t shirts. We embraced capitalism. We have embraced capitalism. Were out there in the marketplace. Marketplace. Thats what i like to do. I like shape influence and like to shape and influence and there lot of it was a lot there was a lot of it was a lot of word salad , though, wasnt there . Stephen is there are in these speeches. Does what speeches. What does what does get future back mean . Get your future back mean . I lets move down from the headune i lets move down from the headline into the actual the meat you know wheres the wheres that wheres wheres the beef on that wheres looking what hes doing, what looking at what hes doing, what hes actually saying area hes actually saying in area after area. And after area after area. And this morning Bridget Phillipson morning with Bridget Phillipson speaking on education and wes streeting speaking on health, you really get down you will really, really get down to the nitty gritty and see the basis i felt that basis of it. I felt that building, over and over building, building over and over again. Thing , again. That is the key thing, because its not just building houses, its actually building confidence. All, its confidence. But above all, its building building of building the Building Blocks of society, health service, the society, the health service, the police, prisons, everything society, the health service, the poli we prisons, everything society, the health service, the poli we arejrisons, everything society, the health service, the poli we are going;, everything society, the health service, the poli we are going to verything society, the health service, the poli we are going to ierything society, the health service, the poli we are going to i hate ng society, the health service, the poli we are going to i hate to that we are going to i hate to interrupt stephen, but interrupt you, stephen, but we have move a little bit. Have to move on a little bit. Weve got lots time to weve got lots more time to talk to talk to you hes talk to talk to you guys. Hes the boss today. All know. Know who we all know. We all know who the is. The boss is. I like think so. I like to think so. I like to think so. More to come this lots more to come this morning. Were going be morning. In the 21st century. And closer to home at sir keir starmer his labour Conference Speech, he said that he aimed to create a britain thatis he aimed to create a britain that is built to last. The fire service says the place suffered significant structural collapse and that nearly 1500 vehicles are in the affected car park. Its believed it was caused by a diesel car. Five people were admitted to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation. Chief fire officer inhalation. We are very much focussed on getting a hand over in terms of ba. 2 and getting this airport open as quickly as we can and we hope to do that. The party will outline plans to boost maths teaching in Primary Schools and encourage stronger lifelong numeracy. Stronger lifelong numeracy. Children would be shown how numeracy is used in the world around them , like through around them, like through household budgeting. Current Exchange Rates and cooking recipes. Last week the prime recipes. Last week the Prime Minister said he would make maths compulsory for the age of 18. But Bridget Phillipson says labours would lead to labours plans would lead to Higher Standards in schools. Higher standards in schools. The problem with rishi sunaks ideas is that they start way too late. Its no good at 16 trying to get children involved in a love of maths. We need to in a love of maths. We need to do it much earlier because the problems start earlier, which is why today im talking about labours to sure that labours plans to make sure that our fight our youngest children and right throughout get throughout Primary School get a really Firm Foundation in maths that really enjoy it and that they really enjoy it and that they really enjoy it and that support teachers in how that we support teachers in how theyre maths, theyre teaching maths, education and embedding some of those real world examples into the teaching of maths to bring it to for children and it to life for children and young its labour whos young people. Its defence; on gaza overnight. Its Defence Forces say that around 200 targets have been hit in retaliation to the hamas atrocity. Atrocity. Liz, these are live pictures now that are coming in from gaza following those attacks. A casualty numbers are mounting on both sides as israel put their death toll at 1200. And the gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 900 people have killed in ai rstri kes. Well airstrikes. Well , were joined now by gb well, were joined now by gb News Reporter charlie peters, who is in tel aviv now with us. Charlie, a very good morning again , anne. Just i mean, were again, anne. Just i mean, were seeing these pictures coming in from gaza, hearing more stories , more atrocities in in israel. The mood amongst people that youre talking to, how what are people feeling and what sort of sense of response do they want from their government . From their government . Well, ive just arrived here at tel avivs expo centre. Its at tel avivs expo centre. Its a Convention Centre in times of peace. Its now become a war room. It has been taken over by civilian volunteer organisations , persons who are gathering suppues , persons who are gathering supplies and organising to deliver aid to civilians and soldiers in the south of israel, where the majority of the atrocities from Hamas Terrorists have been conducted since saturday morning. Now this organisation here, all of them, they used to campaign against they used to campaign against the government as late as last week they were organising protest sites against the government, but theyve all come together now in this location to support the governments war efforts against hamas. They say it is a great moment of solidarity for the israeli people as they gather supplies, as they look for missing people and as they Work Together to secure for this very existential threat to israels security. To threat to israels security. To my left, just here, there is the Main Operations centre of this Convention Centre where so many people have gathered behind the scenes to register names to hear whatever people can offer to the israeli war effort as volunteers. And hundreds are coming through our car took us outside to a ginormous queue. We had to walk in a few hundred metres away where most people are still queuing with supplies. Queuing up with their supplies. And right they have and then to my right they have another , a packing room another room, a packing room which stacked the brim which is stacked to the brim with boxes full of with cardboard boxes full of vital supplies, hygiene products, blankets, clothes and Everything Else you might need to within the sort of barbaric assaults that the Israeli Forces and civilians have faced since saturday morning. Youre sort of painting in hangar 11 at this location. Oh, go on. Sorry, location. Oh, go on. Sorry, charlie. You sort of painting a picture of extra ordinary resilience, i suppose. What resilience, i suppose. What people are more used to it than if, for example, such an attack took place in london. But there must be a great deal of fury. Anger, dismay , stress and anger, dismay, stress and wondering what happens next. What comes next . One week, one month down the track . Sure month down the track . Sure well, i think the general mood is that people are expecting the Israeli Military to move into a more decisive phase of this war. In the five days they have been reacting to secure their borders and the people here now expect the idf to launch into more strikes on the Hamas Terrorists inside gaza. Now, the idf is obviously been shaping that attack through airstrikes, but civilians can shape those attacks, too. That is what people are saying here. They can shape them by volunteering their products, their time, but also so the hunting of missing people, which is going on behind me in hangar 11. This is a really serious piece of work thats doing a person just before we came on air told me that they had 200 people in that people gathering in that location just hunting for missing people 24 over seven, because sadly, as we know , because sadly, as we know, hundreds remain unaccounted for i unimaginable. Thank you, charlie. Charlie peters there in tel aviv. Youve been getting in touch from home, rachel said about the process here in the uk or celebrations is why or the celebrations is why arent police doing their arent the police doing their job . Jackie got in touch to say the atrocities are beyond belief in responsible be in those responsible must be condemned. And chris said our condemned. And chris said our right protest must be right to protest must be protected. But increasingly were seeing protests that are totally outside the uks sphere of influence. And jane has of influence. And jane has pointed out that she thinks the army should show a presence on the streets. When youve got demonstrations like the pro palestinian , pro palestinian protests, e mails coming. Unbelievable , isnt it, that unbelievable, isnt it, that we should be contemplating Something Like that . Its a its a massive, massive wake up call for all of that. A massive, massive wake up call for all of that. All of us here for all of that. All of us here just seeing these demonstrations would be interesting to hear. Would be interesting to hear. It really is from our next guest, actually. Lord john mann is adviser on is the government adviser on anti semitism. Good morning, anti semitism. Good morning, lord mann. Thank you forjoining lord mann. Thank you for joining us. I know you spoke to my colleague, andrew pierce, earlier in the week. Reflections, if you will, broadly on the situation in the middle east and how things have changed really in the last three days. Well , i days. Well, i think people are still in the shock mode. Still in the shock mode. That will turn to anger. Im not sure thats quite turned yet. I think theres still huge trauma and shock and of course, from with my role advising government within the british jewish. Community, 80 british jewish. Community, 80 British National was murdered. British national kidnapped , British National kidnapped, and people with relatives in the same. And so this cuts deep into. The 300,000 strong british Jewish Community. And thats exacerbated by these appalling. Exacerbated by these appalling. Pubuc exacerbated by these appalling. Public escapades ads purporting to be supporting the palestinian. Owns. What theyre supporting are two terror groups , hamas and are two terror groups, hamas and hezbollah, who are proscribed armed organisations. There are illegal and to promote them is illegal. Im pleased to see the home secretary has reminded strongly police forces, Police Leaders across the country of what the law is that was passed out on a consensus basis in parliament. All the parties in parliament, labour , liberal, parliament, labour, liberal, democrat, conservative and the small parties were in favour of these laws , as we need to use these laws, as we need to use them and people in our country who are giving open support and encouragement to terrorist organisations should be should be arrested and prosecuted and that should be happening now. So, lord mann, that is that is what you feel these these sort of free palestine protests appearing in cities up and down the , would you be basically the uk, would you be basically banning those and arresting people wanting to take them . Because obviously a its because thats obviously a its another step this another big step in this process. Is that where youre at with it . With it . The police have been given the have got good the police have got good guidance on what the law is and what is acceptable in a democracy, whether we like it or not, in terms of free speech and what isnt when it comes to proscribed terrorist organisations, actions and hamas like hezbollah, is proscribed. I like hezbollah, is proscribed. I hope as well well get the Iranian Revolutionary guard proscribed. I think that now proscribed. I think that now needs to happen and i hope government will do that. But but these two are proscribed organisations promoting them and anyone familiar stating that any outlaw or any organisation, any building that giving a facility for that should also be prosecuted , looted. We need to prosecuted, looted. We need to see prosecutions because the Jewish Community in our country truly amortised by what its seen in from its own community, murdered and amongst family relatives. Friends need needs to see that support. Relatives. Friends need needs to see that support. The only see that support. The only protests there should be at the moment are are free. The hostages. Thats what the demand hostages. Thats what the demand should be on the streets of britain. Free the hostages there are babies. Tiny children grab are babies. Tiny children grab mothers. A whole range of people. It is extraordinarily horrific. And, you know, any horrific. And, you know, any decent people seeing anyone protesting about anything other than that should give their opinions. In my view. Opinions. In my view. Well, and lord, what troubled me when i went there to was absolutely appalling. And thats absolutely appalling. And thats what shocked me, lord, man, when i went to speak at the back end of the demonstration on monday evening outside the Israeli Embassy complete embassy was the complete unwillingness by those at those free palestine demonstrations to condemn the atrocities that had taken place. I have to say that was i was truly stunned and shocked, complete unwillingness. Instead, just to sort of rant. Instead, just to sort of rant. I mean, it is it is. Instead, just to sort of rant. I mean, it is it is. Its not i mean, it is it is. Its not unbelievable. Its sickening. Unbelievable. Its sickening. And if they break the law and some of the things are the things ive heard in my view, breaks the law. Lets have them breaks the law. Lets have them arrested. Lets have them prosecuted. Lets not tolerate it. Support for terrorist organisations , actions in this organisations, actions in this country. Instead said, let us support our Jewish Community impacted by that with big Jewish Community in london, a big one in manchester, but across the country there are small jewish communities know im going to a vigil tonight. Communities know im going to a vigil tonight. Right. And i know vigil tonight. Right. And i know people will not be cowed into standing in that vigil in solidarity with the people of israel and in solidarity with the british Jewish Community. Im going to be going to synagogue and others are as well. Id encourage all our political leaders to be doing that. All our Civic Leaders to be doing that. Weve seen some of them out taking the lead, doing it, and i commend them. Whats encouraging is thats on a cross party basis, were seeing this from all the main parties. Lets see all our parties. Lets see all our political leaders standing by our own Jewish Community, and lets see that over the next few days. Lets see that over the next few days. So nows the time to show days. So nows the time to show i agree entirely the people of israel, and were with our own Jewish Community. Lord man, thank you so much indeed for those thoughts at this difficult time. Well, lets just see what some of our viewers and listeners have been saying about labour and about this , lee says. Labour and about this, lee says. I watched the labour leader yesterday his little speech yesterday give his little speech. I must say i dont and cant believe a single word. Mr flip flop says. Lee says it as flip flop says. Lee says it as is david says id like to be able to give labour a chance, but i cant find myself being able to trust any any of starmers policy announced moments. Keep hearing this all the you keep hearing this all the time from inbox , people time from the inbox, people saying want to vote saying i do want to vote elsewhere. I dont feel even people who voted conservative 20 years are disillusioned with what they see now. And they say, i want to vote for labour, but i cant. And its so its something that you reform. Im sure well be delighted to hear. But i think everything is still to play for at the moment because there is not a consensus out there that keir starmer is a better to rishi sunak. Leslie steve said the speech yesterday not contain one yesterday did not contain one specific just the usual specific policy, just the usual vague rhetoric and aspiration lines. What are they going to do about Legal Immigration . Well, i think he literally had about ten words on immigration. And the one thing he say about one thing he did say about building 1. 5 million homes in five years, weve not built that number, which equates to 300,000 homes every year. We havent done that for 50 years. And i just dont think its possible. And i know im a property guy. Absolutely and we had Marco Robinson in earlier about sleeping out overnight in london. I actually did to him, didnt talk did say to him, we didnt talk about air, but we said, about it on air, but we said, didnt get any sleep . Didnt we did you get any sleep . And he said, no, because when youre were off. Youre sleeping out, were off. You with one you constantly sleep with one eye are so eye open because there are so many threats to you on the streets of london. Terence streets of london. But still to come, were the were going to be talking to the principal of fascinating principal of a fascinating project, israels only integrated arab and jewish high school. Theres any glimmer of school. Theres any glimmer of hope for the future. It is this hope for the future. It is this story you are with britains newsroom on. Patrick christys on gb news. Im. Gb news good morning. Its 1123 with britains newsroom on gb news with richard tice this morning and bev turner first time youve been here with me enjoying it . Yeah, im behaving despite not getting the coffee in time. Wonderful. Now jerusalem. Wonderful. Now jerusalem. Usually the bustling capital of israel, has become desert dotted amid the war in gaza , casualty amid the war in gaza, casualty numbers are sadly mounting on both sides. As israel put their death toll at 1200. And the gaza Health Ministry reported at least 900 people have been killed in airstrikes. Killed in airstrikes. But this is a story that i really wanted us to cover because joining us now is the principal of the max rayne hand in hand school, efrat. Mayor, good morning. Efrat, thank you good morning. Efrat, thank you so much forjoining us. Good morning. Please just tell our viewers and our listeners who you are and what your school is. Good morning, everyone. My name is efrat meyer. I live in jerusalem and the principal of the arab Jewish School high school in jerusalem i i i dont know if people know, but in israel, the Public Schools are separate between jews and arabs. So were all jews and arabs. So were all citizens. But we study in citizens. But we study in different systems so we dont get to meet each other , to know get to meet each other, to know each other, to learn others language and thats part of the problem. And my school that im very proud of the hand in hand school is part of six different schools , Elementary Schools that schools, Elementary Schools that bnng schools, Elementary Schools that bring together jews and arabs from a very young age, from age three. And im the principal of the high school, the only high school that teaches kids from age 12 to 18 together in one classroom. It is it is so heartwarming. It is it is so heartwarming. And its one of the few stories that ive seen that bring any sort of hope for the future. Actually efrat, when were seeing these pictures , how seeing these pictures, how difficult was it for you to get these schools open in the first place . It was difficult, but not as difficult as you think. Um , groups of parents started um, groups of parents started asking themselves , why cant asking themselves, why cant their kids study together . Why is it so natural for people in israel to separate jews and arabs in the Education System . And now there are about six schools of the hand in hand of handin schools of the hand in hand of hand in hand, and also two other schools, Elementary Schools in Wahat Al Salam , neve shalom and Wahat Al Salam, neve shalom and beersheva that also teach together jews and arabs. So i think what youre actually saying is that its a grass roots request from parents to say, we can do this better or weve got to take a long view. And for our children at a very young age to study together, to understand each others different cultures. And others different cultures. And that gives more hope. Yeah, exactly. And this is exactly why i send my daughters to this school also, because i believe that they will grow to be better people when they meet other people when they meet other people that are different from them. They will learn different them. They will learn different culture, different language , culture, different language, different religions, different opinions. Its widen your soul, its making you a better person i it is. And any war actually is a failure of humanity , in my is a failure of humanity, in my opinion. Any war. And im interested to see that you are the principal. You are a woman quite clearly. And how many women and mothers are behind this movement to bring people together and start education at the lowest level, to bring those individuals to each others cultures . Cultures . Our call our community is all oven our call our community is all over. Israel has thousands of people , and i know that we have people, and i know that we have many more supporters all over the country. I think that a lot of people know that no ones going to go anywhere. Were going to go anywhere. Were going to go anywhere. Were going to stay here. Jews and palestinians , and we need to palestinians, and we need to find a way to live together. Find a way to live together. Absolutely right. Because actually most people wouldnt be aware at what percentage of the population in israel actually are palestinian. And its about are palestinian. And its about 1. 6 million, isnt it . Out of over 9 million in total , 20 of over 9 million in total, 20 of the population, i think even 21 is our palestinian citizens of israel. Israel. And most of the population are jews and some others also. Are jews and some others also. Um, and do you see this as a growing opportunity . Will you get support from the authorities or will these atrocities over the last few days make it harder for. Im separating your question to two parts. We get a lot of support. We need more support. Always people and the government are supporting it. Were a part of the ministry of education. Of the ministry of education. Were not big schools. Its not a huge project, but its growing. And i think that this is the solution to whats happening right now. The second part of your question was about war times, and it is very, very difficult moments for us, but its difficult moments for everyone , both for jews and everyone, both for jews and palestine lions, whether they study in a mixed schools or not, mixed schools. Its a its a terrible moment for all of us. Very sad moment. Cant we live together . We suffer together. Together . We suffer together. But we in hand in hand feel that we take a leading role in developing the next generation and the future. The possibility of different future for this place. And we think that there is a policy, a possible duty for a just peace and for equality and for good life, both for jews and for good life, both for jews and palestinians in this place. How many families are you having to support at the moment in your school . Efrat, whose families have been touched by the violence . The violence . Um, about 10. They have direct, um , people that they direct, um, people that they know that were affected by the violence from both sides. But i violence from both sides. But i think , like everyone right now think, like everyone right now grieves for their own people and for the other side, there is a huge grief right now. Huge grief right now. That number, i mean, that if 1 in 10 of your, of your pupils , i mean, that is a huge number that just brings in , i mean, that is a huge number thatjust brings in someone , i mean, that is a huge number that just brings in someone one of ten know someone who got hurt. Yes. Yes. It just shows how how massive this is. It touches us so many. Its so hard for us to be able to understand that. But i guess what youre doing, its one of those few beacons of hope that everybody sort of tries to tries to rely on and have resilience from and some form of hope for the future. The future. Yes, we have a big role in reality right now. And were not going to keep doing what were doing no matter what. Were in the doing part. Doing no matter what. Were in the doing part. We dont deal so the doing part. We dont deal so much with whats happening right now. Were thinking the staff is now. Were thinking the staff is thinking , now. Were thinking the staff is thinking, what are we going to do . What are we going to do with the students . When schools will be open . How are we to be open . How are we going to support them and the families . Support them and the families . And lot of support from and we get a lot of support from the students, from staff , from the students, from staff, from families from around us, because we know that were part of the solution and not part of the problem. And just just a little bit just were a very short bit short on time. But your pupils are taught to be bilingual, so they speak hebrew and they speak arabic. That is very rare in that area. That area. They speak arabic , they they speak arabic, they understand arabic when they walk on the street and they hear someone elses language, they dont think its the language of the enemy. They think its the language of their teacher or their co friend in the classroom whom they grow in a different way than other children in israel. Israel. And that. Thank you so much indeed. And that. Thank you so much indeed. Our best wishes to you indeed. Our best wishes to you at this difficult time. Its such an important project. Really good to speak to you. Thank you so much. Keep up the amazing work and we our love. We thank you all of our love. Remarkable well, amazing story. I that we needed some hope i knew that we needed some hope to that school. So weve been hearing about the fire at Luton Airport all morning. Joined now by all morning. Were joined now by gb News Reporter Theo Chikomba. Hi theo. Whats the very latest . Yes , well, a very good yes, well, a very good morning to you. Its i dont know if you can see theres a steady stream of people coming from my right heading in towards Luton Airport. So the airport is still open for people to come in. Many of those came early this morning and they were anticipating that there would be flying at some point today. What we do understand, though, from the airport is that there are no flights flying out of Luton Airport and its estimated that there will be flying again after 3 00 this afternoon. But the 3 00 this afternoon. But the problem, of course, is that they have to get all the crews in the staff, airport staff in as well to ensure that people can at least fly. Its not just affecting people coming here to the airport, but its people coming from other countries who are returning back to the uk. Weve heard reports of some whove had to go to different airports in the uk and then come back to Luton Airport as they live in this area. I got in live in this area. I got in touch with ryanair this morning and they said this in a Statement Due to temporary closure of London Luton Airport today , we regret to advise today, we regret to advise passengers of possible delays or cancellations options on flights to and from luton. And they said affected passengers will be advised via email, push and sms as soon as possible. Ryanair advises all passengers to monitor the day of travel assistance section of the ryanair app for the latest information regarding their flights. Its estimated at the moment that around 25,000 people are affected by this, and that could be more throughout the day. Thea, thanks. I mean, its now about 1130. Presumably the fire is out. Why is it taking so long to reopen the place . I mean, if theres any other country, any other sensibly well nation, the place would be open. Whats whats the delay . Problem . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire problem . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire still problem . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire still going problem . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire still going so blem . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire still going so i. Em . Or is would be open. Whats whats the del. Fire still going so i dont or is the fire still going so i dont know if you can see just over my right shoulder is the car park. There. So theres two car parks here. The one on the left is not the one affected, but its the one on the right. And its the one on the right. And its right by the main entrance of the terminal. So there are some concerns there could some concerns that there could be collapse. All the be further collapse. All the press been moved back to press have been moved back to where we are at this point at the so that the the moment. So that is the concern. So its not necessarily the inside of the the issue inside of the terminal, its what could terminal, but its what could happen an issue where happen if theres an issue where theres been that problem, where that massive fire sorry , pretty that massive fire sorry, pretty just pretty shocking , actually. Just pretty shocking, actually. So essentially one car park can shut an airport for the best part of a day and this could go on and on. Serious questions to be asked. It feels to me, theo. Be asked. It feels to me, theo. Yeah, plenty of questions to be asked. Weve heard from the local police that there are questions to be asked about sprinklers, for example. There sprinklers, for example. There werent any sprinklers in that car park. Its a new car park as well. So its shock really to well. So its a shock really to too many people. The car park we the fire, should i say, started just before 9 pm. Yesterday. And we understand there were some rumours that it could have been an electronic car or electric car, should i say. But its actually from a diesel car. Thats what bedfordshire fire and service chief officer and rescue service chief officer said this morning when speaking to the press. And this happened on the third floor. But interestingly , though, on the interestingly, though, on the bottom floor is where people come and drop off family , come and drop off their family, friends, relatives and so on. And was impacted , which and no one was impacted, which is when you look at it, its quite astounding. Theyve described it as a miracle. But many people are still coming here to the airport and theyre hoping to fly away at some point today. Of course , there are today. But of course, there are many those questions about many of those questions about how this happened. But there how how this happened. But there are the fire and are praises to the fire and rescue team and police and so on who were able to get here so quickly that no one was injured. Okay theo, so much. Okay theo, thank you so much. Chikomba there luton Theo Chikomba there at Luton Airport. It actually airport. It is actually remarkable was hurt. Remarkable that nobody was hurt. Look i mean, yes. I mean, you look i mean, terrifying pictures. Absolutely terrifying. Interesting that it appears car terrifying. Interesting that it a butars car terrifying. Interesting that it a butarsdoes car terrifying. Interesting that it a butarsdoes seem car terrifying. Interesting that it abutarsdoes seem to car terrifying. Interesting that it abutarsdoes seem to take car , but it does seem to take a long time to get everything back to up and running again. But well, welcome to britain and welcome. Welcome to stephen powis. Were back in and im aware were back in the studio us. Hi both. The studio with us. Hi both. Now, want talk now, listen, we want to talk about this that happened about this story that happened in sheffield last night. So sheffield hall, weve got Sheffield Town hall, weve got the here. Somebodys an the footage here. Somebodys an idiot. The footage here. Somebodys an idiot. Scaled the footage here. Somebodys an idiot. Scaled the the footage here. Somebodys an idiot. Scaled the building to remove the israeli flag that the council had raised in support of the israeli people. He tried to bnng the israeli people. He tried to bring it down and it was a pro palestinian rally in the in the city centre. They tried to get a palestinian flag up. Oh, get a palestinian flag up. Oh, they did. In fact, were just watching it now. If youre listening on the radio, the israeli flag was thrown the israeli flag was thrown to the ground palestinian ground and a palestinian flag was sheffield was raised above Sheffield Town centre. Emma webb, let me come centre. Emma webb, let me come to first. What makes my to you first. What makes my blood boil . These are completely these people are completely despicable. Have seen in the despicable. We have seen in the last 24 hours or more, weve seen footage of Migrant Workers in israel and hamas fighters trying to behead them with garden equipment. Weve seen those same workers taken as hostages. Weve seen women being hostages. Weve seen women being raped, as if that is some kind of legitimate weapon of war. And yet mysteriously , all of the yet mysteriously, all of the people who are usually the usual suspects to speak out against any kind of sexism or perceived fascism ism or even in favour of migrant rights, suddenly theres tumbleweed everywhere. And instead we have all of these people out in the streets. None of the usual people who would call those kinds of abuses. Call out those kinds of abuses. Give us some names. Emma webb, are thinking of webb, who are you thinking of specifically . Specifically . Gary lineker well, gary lineker tends to be an opinionated fella, be quite an opinionated fella, and hasnt said anything. And he hasnt said anything. Ive his ive just had a look on his twitter he complete silence twitter and he complete silence , posted something it in , posted something about it in relation podcast. But he relation to a podcast. But he hasnt spoken out hasnt he hasnt spoken out against abuses women as a against the abuses of women as a as of war or anything as a weapon of war or anything like that. So i find the silence from the usual suspects particularly. I was going to say incriminating. Thats not the right word. But i just think right word. But i just think that this is absolutely despicable. It must be terrifying people like terrifying for people like i said earlier, for those particularly people who are visibly to jewish, see just how many are willing to many people are willing to support are committing support those who are committing these atrocities against men, women and children, there was a devastating story that was published in the last 24 hours of a couple who managed to save their ten month old twins by fighting to the death with the terrorists as they entered their house, they managed to save them by hiding them. And those babies are orphaned, were left for are now orphaned, were left for 12 were found 12 hours before they were found by the israeli authorities. What by the israeli authorities. What has happened in israel is horrific. And these people horrific. And these people who are not only celebrating it, but raising flag , an raising the flag, an unbelievable celebration a unbelievable celebration on a pubuc unbelievable celebration on a public building, it is despicable. And that man should despicable. And that man should be arrested. Absolutely. Lets hope so. Absolutely. Lets hope so. Seems a hierarchy there seems to be a hierarchy of and trumps of outrage and israel trumps everything thing. It everything thing. I mean, it trumps sexism, misogyny , racism, trumps sexism, misogyny, racism, everything. Im everything. Israel. But im actually surprised that Sheffield City council did raise the flag in first place. And the flag in the first place. And i think thats not necessarily a good look. Sheffield has got one good look. Sheffield has got one of the biggest ukrainian communities in the communities anywhere in the united remember united kingdom. Remember the history in Ukraine United kingdom. Remember the hi ally in Ukraine United kingdom. Remember the hi all based in Ukraine United kingdom. Remember the hi all based in in Ukraine United kingdom. Remember the hi all based in around kraine united kingdom. Remember the hi all based in around sheffield is all based in around sheffield. Them flying. I dont remember them flying the flag when ukraine the ukrainian flag when ukraine was under. Thats a good thing. The flag, surely. They raised the flag, surely. They raised the flag, surely. Think . So, what do you think . So, because, as far as because, i mean, as far as i think, i think of support think, i think a show of support and solidarity is how they feel. Mean, because i mean, why not . Because i think maybe it could be think its maybe it could be perceived as a provocative, i dont know. But all im saying is that once you get into this business about raising flags, you set up the counter. You know exactly whats happened here. We put up our put up flag. Our flag, you put up flag. I think perfect, i think its a perfect, appropriate time be, quote, appropriate time to be, quote, provocative. Appropriate time to be, quote, prov0 is ive. Appropriate time to be, quote, prov0 is speaking out against doing is speaking out against the barbarity, against against innocent. This is not a innocent citizens. This is not a point about , innocent citizens. This is not a point about, you know, the politics of it. This is this is about atrocities that have been committed by terror committed by a terror organisation, not a militant group , a terrorist organisation group, a terrorist organisation. I dont think that people should pull any punches in condemning that. I dont like gestures. I mean, i think these gestures, to mean, i think these gestures, to me its too much like virtue signalling. I we should signalling. I think we should actually offering to actually be offering to assistant to help and provide financial support, economic support, support. Support, political support. Theres actually theres more to actually supporting than flying supporting israel than flying a flag. Supporting israel than flying a flagbut unfortunately seems but unfortunately it seems that a at least i think that there is a at least i think theyre doing more than the likes lineker, like emma likes of lineker, like Emma Thompson , some of these others. Thompson, some of these others. Thats thats a i think thats a thats a given. T given. Its i think its but i think its i think its really important. Got to really important. Weve got to call these people out when they say that, which not. Call these people out when they say i. Hat, which not. Call these people out when they sayi think hich not. Call these people out when they sayi think weh not. Call these people out when they sayi think we need not. Out i think we need to point out in the future when they cry fascism at every turn and when they out for they are calling it out for various things they find various things that they find problematic our own society, problematic in our own society, i think we need point out to i think we need to point out to them in the future that they have their credibility have lost their credibility because didnt speak because they didnt speak out when were when innocent women who were just a peace loving just attending a peace loving rave near the gaza border were raped and murdered. Raped and murdered. And theres a football match at wembley. Is it a wembley . This weekend . And there is a suggestion. Thank you. Because suggestion. Thank you. Because you know, steve and my sporting knowledge is not brilliant , but knowledge is not brilliant, but theres an international theres a an International Football should be football match. Should they be raising the israeli flag at the match . Should they be shining the symbol of israel . This is one of the suggestions. Well, its interesting. Youve got players like manu solomon you who is an solomon who, you know, who is an israeli for spurs and israeli who plays for spurs and youve brighton, youve got players for brighton, you ive that you know, and ive noticed that sometimes players sometimes the israeli players actually have the star of david sometimes the israeli players actlinto have the star of david sometimes the israeli players actlinto their the star of david sometimes the israeli players actlinto their hair. Star of david sometimes the israeli players actlinto their hair. You of david sometimes the israeli players actlinto their hair. You knowid sometimes the israeli players actlinto their hair. You know , i sometimes the israeli players actlinto their hair. You know , i cut into their hair. You know, i think wrong think theres anything wrong with been just with that. Youve just been just as much would a poppy. As much as i would wear a poppy. But wembley, for example, its ukrainian last its on the ukrainian flag last year ukraine. I year in support of ukraine. I think it did the same after the ballon atrocity back 6 or 7 years ago. So i mean, its got a record of showing solidarity. Record of showing solidarity. Im not sure they did after bataclan. I know some people tried to have the french flag but and then the flag of paris was actually know the actually flown up, you know the fleur de lis. Look, just fleur de lis. But look, i just i think you get this think once you get into this competitive flag waving , i think competitive flag waving, i think theres problem. Theres a problem. Certain rules as there are certain rules as well prevent football clubs well to prevent football clubs and so on. Theyre not supposed to be political. I just think that politics theres a reason why people have argued, myself included, should included, that politics should be of sport. Be kept out of sport. But when hull owned a but when hull was owned by a palestinian, he palestinian, you know, and he wanted have the wanted to actually have the palestinian their palestinian flag on their shirts, well, it becomes an issue compelled speech, issue of compelled speech, and thats. Thats a problem. Shall talk a little bit shall we talk a little bit about keir starmer speech yesterday . He didnt quite say build better but was build back better, but it was a bit that rebuild the uk, wasnt it . What did make of it . Emma, what did you make of what it . Emma, what did you make of whihe seems to be trying to he seems to be trying to garner votes by being more tory than tory. Oh, stop it. I mean, i think having watched the footage of the Labour Party Conference, i think particularly i hate to say it, but i think Rachel Reeves is delivery was fantastic , even if i dont agree fantastic, even if i dont agree with the content of the speech, i think that the tories should be viewing them as a real threat. But i also think that there policies are bit naff , frankly. Well, the only policy that starmer mentioned, building 1. 5 million homes in five years, weve never done in 50 years. And i, you know, i know thats naive. I think its completely naive i i i mean, frankly, itjust shows actually, theyve got not a clue they talking. A clue what they were talking. I think they have got a clue. And theres one thing i think, which a real bit of which is a real a real bit of meat and this is meat in that. And this is unfortunate. Called it the unfortunate. I called it the labour to going create labour party is to going create something called gb news. I actually because actually meant gb energy because they that idea. I know it they stole that idea. I know it was idea was a freudian energy. The idea he committed to he said. We are committed to setting up gb news. I said, well, fair play. But actually he also said he was keen reform, even but actually he also said he was some1 reform, even but actually he also said he was some peopleorm, even but actually he also said he was some peopleorm, eilike it. Yeah, i was actually taoiseach you. Ill taoiseach that up for you. Ill tap them down in the box anyway. Look, the point being that one of problems have look, the point being that one of Energy Problems have look, the point being that one of energy security. lems have look, the point being that one of energy security. Weve have look, the point being that one of energy security. Weve just ave is energy security. Weve just seen situation in seen that with the situation in finland and the cost of energy. Seen that with the situation in finliild and the cost of energy. Seen that with the situation in finlil think the cost of energy. Seen that with the situation in finlil think theidea of energy. Seen that with the situation in finlil think theidea ofhaving. And i think the idea of having a National Energy provider is a first and i think first class idea and i think i think its an excellent one. And certainly was certainly what bridget was saying about the saying this morning about the maths phonics maths and about phonics and maths and about phonics and maths various things, maths and various other things, theres can do, but theres a lot we can do, but above is this above all, immigration is this huge issue which i think will sink and what were sink the tories. And what were saying instead wasting saying is instead of wasting money futile money on ludicrous, futile gestures like rwanda, which the israelis tried ten years ago and didnt work, then we should actually employing more actually be employing more people home office, people in the home office, getting determination made people in the home office, gett getting determination made people in the home office, gettgetting dething1ation made people in the home office, gett getting dething dealt made people in the home office, gett getting de thing dealt withe and getting the thing dealt with at source. But there was almost there was almost nothing in starmers speech about immigration, which is issue is actually a huge issue for people service. People in public service. Immigration the if immigration will sink the tories, then immigration will torpedo the labour party. If they because they get into power, because behind all of this they there are there is a socialist backbone, if you can call it that. Backbone, if you can call it that. If there is a backbone , that. If there is a backbone, but there is a but beneath, beneath , beneath the thin beneath, beneath the thin veneen beneath, beneath the thin veneer, there are still all of those objectionable socialist policies. And i dont think that policies. And i dont think that the labour party , we have a plan the labour party, we have a plan to deal with immigration other than just talking points. Even than just talking points. Even if they have talking points on this, if the conservative party have failed to deal with immigration, imagine how much worse it would be under the labour party. Long. I want weve not got long. I want to touch on james bond now. We have the real life james bond sat beside me. Mean stephen pound. Oh, oh, i mean stephen pound. Oh, whats going on, everybody . Im whats going on, everybody . Im oddjob you walked right into that one time. So would it make a difference if james that one time. So would it make a difference ifjames bond was a difference if james bond was black or female to recruiting people to mi6 . I that is not what fiction is supposed to be about. Its not you shouldnt be factoring in record movement to the Civil Service when youre trying to put together a good film or a good piece of fiction. Well, i have to say, after emma webbs slipping the knife in there so brutally, shes like ollie gunner solskjaer, the baby faced assassin. You know, i faced assassin. You know, i think quite clearly the new jane bondis think quite clearly the new jane bond is there. Bond is there. Oh, the new jane bond. Youll be. Oh, i think james bond should be a man, right . Well, to another jane, you can identify another james bond in studio. Matt longhurst is in the studio. Matt longhurst is here to tell us what hes got to talk about today with pip.
