Well it remains our top story this morning. Day five of israels war on hamas. Shocking details are now emerging of a massacre dunng are now emerging of a massacre during the terror groups assault on israeli communities. Assault on israeli communities. Reporters have been shown the scene of a massacre at a village close to the border with gaza. Close to the border with gaza. And a warning, you may find some of these images disturbing. This is the village of kfar azar. Its a kibbutz where the military told reporters men , military told reporters men, women and children were shot dead by hamas gunmen. Well , the military also told well, the military also told reporters there that entire families had been found dead in their homes, many of whom were babies. And israels Bombing Campaign on gaza continued overnight. More than 200 overnight. More than 200 buildings were destroyed in gaza and the United Nations is reporting that 260,000 civilians have been displaced and that entire neighbourhoods have been destroyed. Meanwhile, hamas has continued to fire rockets into israel and casualty numbers are mounting on both sides of the conflict as israel put their death toll at 1200. And the Gaza Health Ministry reported at least 900 of its civilians and citizens have been killed in airstrikes. Killed in airstrikes. Well, israel has also cut off water, Food Supplies and electricity into gaza after a european meeting last night. The eu Foreign Policy chief said he opposed the blockade of gaza. Opposed the blockade of gaza. The world has the right to defend, but it has to be done accordingly with International Law, humanity and law and some decisions are contrary to this. The International Law. The palestinian authorities, our partner, we dont deal with hamas. But yes , we support and hamas. But yes, we support and we deal and we Work Together with the Palestinian Authority. With the Palestinian Authority. And not all the Palestinian People are terrorists. So people are terrorists. So a collective punishment against all palestinians will be unfair and unproductive. Lviv and the and unproductive. Lviv and the uk and the United States have offered their full support to israel to contain hamas. The first plane of ammunition from morocco has just landed in israel. And lets speak now to two news. Charlie peters , even two news. Charlie peters, even whos in tel aviv. Good morning to you, charlie. So the front pages in britain dominated by the aftermath of what the Israeli Military are now finding in villages , anchor boxes. But in villages, anchor boxes. But whats the latest overnight . Whats been happening. Whats been happening. Well, this is an extremely complex battle space. This war now entering its fifth day. And israel is fighting off aggressor forces from several fronts. Last forces from several fronts. Last night overnight, we had shelling coming in now from syria to add to the shelling that was around from southern lebanon during the day yesterday. As youve mentioned , rocket attacks mentioned, rocket attacks continuing. Also from the gaza strip. Many civilian targets strip. Many civilian targets were hit yesterday, including the city of ashkelon, where the iron dome air defence system could not stop all of the rockets that were fired over. Rockets that were fired over. And as it resists these attacks from several aggressors , the us from several aggressors, the us did fly in advanced armaments last night. Did fly in advanced armaments last night. This is the first supply plane of weaponry to the idf since the war started and us President Joe Biden reaffirmed his support for israel in a Statement Last night. This attack is brought to the surface painful memories and the scars left by a millennia of anti semitism and genocide of the jewish people. The jewish people. So in this moment, we must be crystal clear. We stand with israel. We stand with israel , israel. We stand with israel, and we will make sure, as it has, what it needs to take care of its citizens and defend itself and respond to this attack. Attack. Well, israels im sorry, israel said that the armaments are designed to facilitate what it said are significant military operations and increased preparedness for other scenarios. Well what are those other scenarios . It seems likely other scenarios . It seems likely on the ground that in the next 48 hours we could see a ground assault into the gaza. And this comes , of course, as youve comes, of course, as youve mentioned, martin, in a very grave reports coming up from southern israel in the gaza envelope where Hamas Terrorists invaded on saturday morning. And details of the atrocities they have committed in many of the kibbutz and the small communities near to the gaza strip are coming to light. As you said, reports of infants and elderly people and women being butchered in what one minister told me last night was an isis style attack. Like. Well, style attack. Like. Well, yesterday i spoke with a woman called danielle who had fled from her kibbutz on saturday after the Hamas Terrorists assaulted her homeland. Did you assaulted her homeland. Did you see anything in the street when you drove through . Did you see bodies and. Yeah, mostly bodies. Some of them were burned. So we didnt recognise people. Some of them were terrorist bodies. Later on, were terrorist bodies. Later on, i found out that i have a few of my friends in the party in the rave that was raging at that morning. Some of them were kidnapped. Some of them were raped and taken under hostage to the gaza strip. It was really the gaza strip. It was really horrible. Well these actions by horrible. Well these actions by Hamas Terrorists in danielles kibbutz were described as inhuman and as though they were conducted by savage us. Now, as israel receives those armaments from the us and shapes for a likely invasion into the gaza strip. Youve also heard gaza strip. Youve also heard about that blockade of supplies cut off from gaza and the bombarding increasing closing in on 1000 dead there. Concern fans will of course now grow in gaza that the response to this savagery described as inhuman will be severe. Will be severe. Okay, charlie , thank you very okay, charlie, thank you very much for that report. And just much for that report. And just a reminder , really that this story reminder, really that this story is incredibly harrowing when were talking about the lives of children in all of this. Thank you for now. Lets cross back to israel and we can speak to clive hart, a british man there whos been caught up in the last few days. And clive, just take us back to the weekend when the sirens started sounding and you first became aware of what was unfolding. Unfolding. Okay. So we live in sderot, myself and my wife. We actually spent friday night at my brother in laws apartment, also in sderot. We woke up at 6 00 in the morning, obviously, when the sirens started, which obviously was really unexpected because there hadnt been any talk in there hadnt been any talk in the week of anything going to occur. The week of anything going to occur. It was a really, really occur. It was a really, really heavy rocket attack, far more than usual. When we put on the television and the social media, etcetera , we realised obviously etcetera, we realised obviously it was part of something much bigger. Um um, and obviously saturday was , was, was a crazy saturday was, was, was a crazy day. There was gunfire in sderot. We later found out that about 20 policemen had been killed in the state, in the Police Station in sderot. Um, firemen , in sderot. Um, firemen, civilians, everything. Um, we civilians, everything. Um, we had the army opposite the apartment, searching through fields looking for terrorists , fields looking for terrorists, regular bombing attacks. And regular bombing attacks. And its been like that now since basic since saturday morning , basic since saturday morning, literally. Ive got to tell you, when i was sat here waiting to come live , i had to jump away come live, i had to jump away from the computer and run into the reinforced room because the sirens went off again and there was another bomb attack. Hopefully we can get through this interview without that happening again. But its very happening again. But its a very live situation. Live situation. And clive, whats your response now, the true horrors are emerging of the scenes, the discoveries in the kibbutz and the smaller villages , the the smaller villages, the Defence Forces on the ground , Defence Forces on the ground, the israelis saying this is reminiscent of slaughters as um , reminiscent of slaughters as um i , reminiscent of slaughters as um , i think theyre right. Listen, israels quite a small country in some ways. You know, its a bit of a village. Everyone knows someone so i mentioned about the Police Station. So my mother in law is station. So my mother in law is a civilian worker in the Police Station. So 20 people that she station. So 20 people that she worked with last week are no longer alive. So you know, its everyone. People i know personally , people that have personally, people that have lost people in the army, in the last day or two, young soldiers who were probably caught up on the border when they came the border when they first came in. You know, it affects everyone directly. Its not everyone directly. Its not something that happens to other people. Its something people. Its something that happens you and people, you happens to you and people, you know. Um, yeah , no, listen , more know. Um, yeah, no, listen, more people have been killed in israel in the last 3 or 4 days and were killed in the six day war and the six day war was was against four nation state. So i think you have to understand israel is at war as far as were all concerned. You know, its not just a skirmish all concerned. You know, its notjust a skirmish ish. Um you notjust a skirmish ish. Um you were describing the reinforced rooms a moment ago and it seems to be, you know , a fact of life to be, you know, a fact of life for people who live or go on houday for people who live or go on holiday to israel that they want these safe rooms, particularly in areas that are sort of close to borders. And yet weve heard these reports in the last few days of people, even inside and these reinforced rooms not being safe. How does that play into the psyche of the jewish people who wanted a state in which they could feel safe . Could feel safe . Um, well , firstly, just to um, well, firstly, just to address your point, i think youre right that the safe rooms, which just so you can understand what we mean by safe room, its a totally normal room in the apartment. The only two differences between that room and every other room is the outside of the window. Theres like a heavy metal shutter that you pull closed and the door is a slightly heavier metal door. Other than that, its just a normal room. And yeah, listen, im sure that over the years the rockets have become more powerful and more sophisticated. And youre right, its certainly not a foolproof guarantee of anything. The safe room, its, you know, its a safer room. Its not a safe room. Um so thats just on a technical point, youre absolutely right that, you know , people you know, that, you know, people you know, the state of israel grew up after the holocaust. And one of after the holocaust. And one of the things that the thing that was most important to people, to the jewish people, was having a safe country. And israel hasnt safe country. And israel hasnt got a safe country at the minute. And you know, were going to have to do everything we can in by all means to get that back. By all means to get that back. Okay. Well, listen, stay safe. Thank you very much indeed for talking to us. Clive hart talking to us from sderot this morning in israel. We wish you well and your family as well. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Back in britain, there are worries the conflict could lead to a rise of anti semitism across the uk , jewish schools across the uk, jewish schools are increasing security and communities are supporting one another. As they wait to hear if friends and family caught up in the conflict are safe. Gb News Reporter lisa hartle has more. There are concerns of a rise in anti semitism in the uk since hamas launched its attack on israel. Community Security Trust is a charity that arranges security personnel for jewish schools across the nation. Ceo schools across the nation. Ceo mark gardner says security was already extremely tight, but more measures are being put in place. Place. You have real proper fencing, you have the school built a long way back from the road in case of a car bomb. You have protective film on the windows. Protective film on the windows. You have cctvs that feed into our own 24 seven control centre. You have infrared mechanisms that detect any movement breaking through the perimeters. You have guards on the site ,. You have guards on the site, but whatever else we can add on top, we will do so. But whatever else we can add on top, we will do so. Um, but whatever else we can add on top, we will do so. Um, theres top, we will do so. Um, theres certainly an increase in the regularity of Police Patrols , regularity of Police Patrols, past jewish schools and past places where jewish schoolchildren wait for buses and trains, etcetera, etcetera. And trains, etcetera, etcetera. Um, and there are some schools where they will now be a Police Presence at opening and closing times. Times. Since the conflict began this weekend, jewish communities across london have been supporting each other as people wait to hear for news of their loved ones. Eric elbaz has cousins serving in the Israeli Military. My cousin who sends me regular texts. He said, happy to share my information. Then he share my information. Then he goes, my childhood friend amit and his brother were killed in hazara, the son of our good friend and neighbour was killed as a combat fighter in the battle in kosovo, where my son is now with his team. A sister is now with his team. A sister of one of my soldiers from team oz who was seriously injured in lebanon and her husband, little girl, were murdered in their home in kafr , which is a kibbutz home in kafr, which is a kibbutz in gaza. So it keeps sending me in gaza. So it keeps sending me updates. But its in gaza. So it keeps sending me updates. But its a in gaza. So it keeps sending me updates. But its a true updates. But its a true reflection of whats going on. First hand. You do feel on a higher alert because there are things that are going on on our doorstep. And a friend of mine who was walking home from synagogue , um, was spat at by synagogue, um, was spat at by a just a random person an i myself when i was walking from synagogue and i was crossing the road, a car opened their window and shouted obscenities about jews. So it is it and shouted obscenities about jews. So it is it is on our doorstep. Doorstep. Rabbi meir schindler says the Jewish Community in north london is feeling helpless. There may be great distance, but in terms of our hearts, were very close and, you know, as just simply to find something that we can do, whether it to be to donate to a good cause, Emergency Services , voluntary Emergency Services, voluntary services, there , supplies to services, there, supplies to soldiers, the reservists whove been called up without, you know , without any sort of preparation and just theres not enough food and drink for them. So to donate to those causes and to pray, thats really as much as we could do with the conflict escalating. More civilians on both sides are losing their lives whilst communities in the uk pray that their loved ones survive. Lisa their loved ones survive. Lisa hartle gb news. London well sir keir starmer took to the stage yesterday to pitch for power during his speech at the Labour Party Conference and a protester covering the Opposition Leader with glitter dunng Opposition Leader with glitter during all that. And didnt he handle that incredibly well . I thought he did. He took it in his stride. It was an extension rebellion protester, of course, unwelcome anyway. Starmer starmer promised anyway. Starmer starmer promised a decade of renewal under labour and said he aims to create a britain that is built to last. Well, joining us now is to not doubt that the fire of change still burns in britain. The question is whether it lives on inside labour. And today we show it does. Today say we turn the page , answer the we turn the page, answer the question why labour with the plan for a britain built to last with higher growth, safer streets , cheap british power in streets, cheap british power in your home, more opportunity in your home, more opportunity in your community, see the nhs off its knees. A britain with its future back. Future back. Well, joining us now is our Political Correspondent catherine forster. Good morning to you. Still going strong, catherine, for last day of conference today. And i understand its been at the best attended labour conference in recent history and, you know, future Prime Minister, Prime Minister in waiting. Some people see sir keir starmer as almost making sort of an audacious appeal to conservative voters. Conservative voters who perhaps feel alienated or politically homeless. Do you think that he was persuasive with all of that . Well, certainly labour are absolutely delighted with how the speech went down. Honestly, at the beginning it felt like being at a rock concert. It was being at a rock concert. It was that sort of energy and glitter notwithstanding, i suspect in fact , notwithstanding, i suspect in fact, although of course that could have been very serious and does raise real concerns about the safety of politicians that ultimately helped him because the audience were even more onside. He responded very well. Onside. He responded very well. He was very cool and collected. He was very cool and collected. And also that picture has gone out around the country. Voters who probably didnt know much about him will probably be impressed by his response. But yes , appealing directly to yes, appealing directly to disaffected conservative voters, saying labour is here for you, saying labour is here for you, saying that they were the party for working people , giving for working people, giving a message of hope that they say that they can make things better for their central message. Lets for their central message. Lets get britains future back. Quite positive and much punchier than the tory message last week. Now today, looking fonnard this morning, Shadow Health secretary wes streeting will be talking about the nhs. Hes basically going to say its got to reform or die. He is able to say things about the nhs as a labour politician that the conservatives simply cant say. Conservatives simply cant say. Hell say we cant just keep throwing money at it. Radical reform is going to be needed also. Bridget phillipson, the shadow education secretary will be talking about mass specifically intervention in the early years, getting mass skills up, getting primary teachers , up, getting primary teachers, giving them the skills to be able to teach maths properly so that children have these skills for the rest of their lives. So for the rest of their lives. So a final morning , but for the rest of their lives. So a final morning, but certainly the mood here very, very positive at the moment. Thank you, catherine. Appreciate it. They think its a bit weird having starmer on the second day rather than the final day. Why they dont end on the big moment. Its kind of like a lot of the political sort of corresponding and people pack up and frankly, after big and go, frankly, after his big speech, rod stewarts speech, its like rod stewarts been now the been on and now heres the support know exactly support act. No, i know exactly what but must be what you mean, but there must be a for it. Perhaps its a reason for it. Perhaps its always been that way. Yeah, well, lets take a look at what is store for weather. Is is in store for the weather. Is it it has always meant to it how it has always meant to be . Aidan mcgivern with the details. Hello. Be . Welcome to breakfast on gb news with isabel and martin. And were turning our attention to Luton Airport now because flights have had to be suspended. There after a large fire at the multi fire engulfed at the Multi Storey Car Park overnight. Five storey car park overnight. Five people to be taken to people having to be taken to hospital, including a number of firefighters , others and firefighters, others and bedfordshire and rescue bedfordshire fire and rescue service a Major Service declared a Major Incident and passengers have been asked not to travel to the airport, if at all possible. Im pleased to say we can speak now to travel experts simon calder, who from Luton Airport who joins us from Luton Airport itself. Whats the scene like there morning . Simon and there this morning . Simon and are you able to shed any light . Steves touch on email steves been in touch on email saying this linked in saying was this fire linked in any to an electric or an any way to an electric car or an electric battery . I dont electric battery . I dont know if were possible were able if were possible if were able to determine the cause to sort of determine the cause at this stage. At this stage. Thats certainly a story which is gaining currency among the many people im speaking to here. But i havent got any evidence of that. So far. Im here in the main area. Im not being allowed into the terminal, which is behind me. But i am i have been in and just had a quick look. Hundreds of people there. They have been stuck overnight out because once the fire was put out and very dramatic pictures, im just looking across to where that that took place. All the flames that took place. All the flames are now out. Obviously, a very are now out. Obviously, a very large presence from firefighters access roads blocked up and very eerie scenes here, actually, because normally you would expect flights to be taking off every couple of minutes. I every couple of minutes. I calculate 170 flights will be affected by the cancellations. This morning. Nothing going until at least 12 noon and of course, they cant simply switch on the airport just like that. On the airport just like that. The security staff have to get here. The crew have to get here. At the moment, nothing going in or out of the airport. But yes, the problem for passengers is massive. This is , of course, massive. This is, of course, a really important base for easyjet, whose headquarters is just over to my right. Its very important for ryanair and for wizz air, serving lots of destinations in Eastern Europe and normally, well, there would be 10,000 or so people just here to catch the first wave of flights. Hundreds of people flights. Hundreds of people sleeping on in the airport overnight. But that was because they were effectively stuck here, ten flights due to go out, people sitting on board the aircraft. Eventually they were told youre not going anywhere. Good luck finding a hotel. And of course , that has proved of course, that has proved pretty impossible for them. So theyve been sleeping on the floor overnight. And then, my floor overnight. And then, my goodness, diversions , 23 of them goodness, diversions, 23 of them last night. Goodness, diversions, 23 of them last night. And people ended up as far away as bristol, cardiff, liverpool and manchester very late at night. Difficult for them to get home and well, 25,000 people at least affected by cancellations today. By cancellations today. Gosh. Okay, simon, thanks very much indeed for that. And i suppose a lot of people, not only being diverted away from luton, wondering if luton, but then wondering if their that theyve left in their car that theyve left in their car that theyve left in the car was burnt in all of the car park was burnt in all of that east of England Ambulance service this morning confirming four firefighters and four of their firefighters and one member of airport staff had to be taken to hospital in relation to this and that one patient was discharged at the scene. They say the Critical Incident at Luton Airport has been stood down. Well keep a close eye on developments there. And as we were hearing from simon, 170 flights cancelled. So far from busy little airport, luton. Luton. Yeah, and i think that electric vehicle theory will gather apace because these things seem to be happening more and more, dont they . Well, we have to get to the bottom of that. Lets now turn our attention now another big our attention now to another big story doing the rounds story that was doing the rounds yesterday the yesterday evening. The presenter, Holly Willoughby, has sensationally quit this morning after the itv show. After 14 years on the itv show. This follows on from a man this all follows on from a man being charged with soliciting to commit over an alleged commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the star. The mother of three took to the social media site instagram to express her sorrow over leaving the show, but says the difficult decision has been made for her and her family. Well, lets speak Showbiz Reporter ellie speak to Showbiz Reporter Ellie Phillips breakfast regular good phillips breakfast regular. Good morning whats morning to you, ellie. Whats was the writing on the wall with all of this . There was a sort of feeling post, phil, that , you feeling post, phil, that, you know, what did the future look like for holly on the show . Obviously this alleged kidnap plot, very, very difficult personally her. But was it personally for her. But was it also an opportunity to perhaps break away . Yeah, i think this was the final straw. I think for a year now its been we had this kind of king and queen of daytime. And then i think gate with the queen lying in state when they allegedly, you skipped the queue. You know, skipped the queue. They for they said it was for journalistic, you know, reasons that kind of kicked off the kind journalistic, you know, reasons th. Unwinding icked off the kind journalistic, you know, reasons th. Unwinding ofzed off the kind journalistic, you know, reasons th. Unwinding of theirf the kind journalistic, you know, reasons th. Unwinding of their status. Nd of unwinding of their status. And then obviously , there were and then obviously, there were rumours at the beginning of the year personally had year that theyd personally had fallen left the show fallen out. He left the show five months this , you five months ago under this, you know, not illegal know, unwise but not illegal affair with a younger male colleague. And all that has colleague. And all of that has kind a very negative kind of put a very negative spin surrounding show. But since surrounding the show. But since then, its been five months. Shes been on screen, shes been off screen, shes had breaks, shes come back, shes had these this kind of like whirlwind of different presenters kind of rotating next her. And she rotating to next her. And she was apparently adamant that she was apparently adamant that she was to go host it was going to go back, host it solo, move fonnard, all of their branding was very much branding around it was very much this host with these this female solo host with these rotating however the rotating reporters. However the behind the scenes its reported that shes not found it as easy as she thought she was going to. Its been quite difficult without phil by side. Without phil there by her side. They did have a very, very Strong Partnership on screen. And dont shes and i dont think shes particularly with particularly gelled with anyone on been so on screen since theres been so many ones there. Many different ones there. And then happening last then with this happening last week, absolutely week, which is absolutely shocking should have shocking and no one should have to with that, i think its to deal with that, i think its been the straw for her. Absolutely it makes you wonder, ellie, rather like top gear has the show ran of legs and show just ran out of legs and has out road . Do you has it ran out of road . Do you think . The whole brand now is tainted this morning and really this a time call it this might be a time to call it a day for the entire show . I actually said when Philip Schofield left that i didnt think at think holly should go back. At that point, i thought, do you know time is time . Its know what time is time . Its been 14 why not step been 14 years. Why not step away . Break, start away . Clean break, fresh start for everyone involved. She is a very talented solo presenter. Anyway, things her anyway, she does things on her own. Interesting thing own. And the interesting thing about she stepped away about this is she stepped away from not itv. From this morning, but not itv. So dancing on so she obviously does dancing on ice. She so she obviously does dancing on ice. She also does bits of the bbc. She did a show called the games. I think moving games. So i think moving fonnard, going not fonnard, were not going to not see willoughby screen see Holly Willoughby on screen again. Its just not going to be part this morning. But the part of this morning. But the question what do they do question is now what do they do moving reports moving fonnard . Because reports had of january, had said that as of january, there plans behind the there were plans behind the scenes the show. Scenes to relaunch the show. Again at the helm with again with her at the helm with a permanent male co host and Ben Shephards name there. Shephards name was up there. Craig there. Hes craig doyle was up there. Hes done very, well alongside done very, very well alongside her. I think hes the most her. I think hes been the most successful the people successful of all the people shes partnered with. But successful of all the people shes as partnered with. But successful of all the people shes as they artnered with. But successful of all the people shes as they do, ered with. But successful of all the people shes as they do, they with. But successful of all the people shes as they do, they havebut successful of all the people shes as they do, they have no now, as they do, they have no Strong Female lead. They no Strong Female lead. They have no Phillip Schofield. No Phillip Schofield. They have no holly what is the plan . Well, there show before well, there was a show before holly believe it or Holly Willoughby believe it or not, has always said the not, aiden has always said the show bigger than the people show was bigger than the people involved and that he believed that would go on even that the show would go on even if did step away. Itll be if she did step away. Itll be interesting see, but shell interesting to see, but shell certainly fine. Wont shes certainly be fine. Wont shes got plenty other things to got plenty of other things to fall i mean, has fall back on. I mean, she has a lot of things going on. Shes got wild moon, her brand. All sorts. Brand. Shes got all sorts. Ellie, lovely to see yeah. Ellie, lovely to see you. Thank yeah. Ellie, lovely to see you. Thank you. Welcome back. Its 634. This is welcome back. Its 634. This is breakfast on gb news with martin and isabel. And a reminder of our top stories this morning. We go inside an Israeli Border village where entire families were killed. Reporters have been shown the scene of a massacre which will be distressing to many. The bodies of men, women and children , of men, women and children, including babies, were found , including babies, were found, according to the Israeli Military. And gb news military. And gb news Investigative Reporter Charlie Peters is giving us updates throughout the morning from tel aviv. Aviv. And thats as the European Union condemns israels blockade of gaza, saying the denial of food, water and electricity is illegal under International Law. Meanwhile , the home secretary meanwhile, the home secretary is ramping up security across the uk to protect jewish communities from hate crime and elsewhere. A glittering star to sir keir starmer speech. A protester doesnt wobble the Opposition Leader as he pushes for a decade of labour in. Number 10. Well of labour in. Number 10. Well well, its our favourite part of the program. Its a headline makers. When we go through the newspapers and the things that are going viral onune the things that are going viral online were joined to do online and were joined to do that with the that this morning with the journalist andy journalist and broadcaster andy jones former editor jones in the former editor of the daily regular the daily star, regular columnist and on this columnist and appear on this channel, dawn neesom. Welcome to both good morning. And both of you. Good morning. And unsurprisingly, we start with day harrowing day five now of harrowing details coming out of this israel Hamas Conflict , andy. And israel Hamas Conflict, andy. And well just reflections really. And i think to be honest, the headune and i think to be honest, the headline for everyone is these babies and the reports of so many children being killed at this particular kibbutz. Yeah, the death tolls are rapidly approaching a thousand. The news has been absolutely full of parents desperate for news of children. Young 20 somethings kidnapped at the music event in the desert on the gaza border. They believe 260 gaza border. They believe 260 revellers were murdered there. Many were hiding in trees or trying to literally bury themselves in the desert to hide themselves in the desert to hide the source of children being having their throats cut in their beds at another kibbutz where i think another 100 or 100 bodies have been found by Israeli Forces that are breaching the area. And this this was not a political act by hamas. This was not a military act by hamas. This was a pure act by hamas. This was a pure act of terror. This was not military objectives. This was killing people who had no defence, who had who had done done nothing to them. And weve seen the position now of israel. You i know charlies you know, i know charlies been talking about the talking in detail about the military strikes. Biden has said that joe biden and president of america we stand with america said we stand with israel and they make sure israel and they will make sure israel and they will make sure israel everything that it needs. Its interesting how the Israeli Defence force comments in is not in there saying this is not a war now, this is genocide, and one of the colonels, colonel richard hecht, said this is like isis and reminisce of slaughters. Now that historical echo particularly chilling. Of echo particularly chilling. Of course it is. And ive got a friend in north london, a jewish, and her little boy , they dont they little boy, they dont they dont actually support the state of israel in any way, shape or form. But they happen to be jewish. And her little boy and hes ten and he is terrified to go to school. And i think you know, compared to what is know, thats compared to what is going and the horrors that is going on and the horrors that is going on and the horrors that is going thats going on. You know, thats a small thing, but its not a small thing, but its not a small thing, but its not a small thing because is , you small thing because this is, you know, jewish people arent the state of israel. Palestinian state of israel. Palestinian people arent hamas. Theyre ordinary people. They all want peace. Nobody wants to see children murdered in their beds. And this is whats happening now on both sides. And its utterly, utterly heartbreaking. I work with a lot of womens groups who support women in particular in the middle east and women in palestine are now theyre the ones really suffering. Isabel in particular, they are really suffering and they are really suffering and they dont want this. They dont support you know, 70 of support hamas. You know, 70 of people in palestine have never voted. They certainly havent voted. They certainly havent voted for hamas. Mean, havent an i mean, they havent had an election palestine since election in palestine since 2006. Have been in charge 2006. Hamas have been in charge as almost dictator since as almost as a dictator since then. Have incredibly then. They have incredibly oppressive modesty laws on women. Typical sort of women. The typical sort of things you see in sort of the caliphate seen in isis and caliphate weve seen in isis and palestinians will be will be victims, you know, this is victims, you know, and this is this pure terrorism. This is just pure terrorism. Is nothing more it there is nothing more to it than that. And anyone supporting what these people have done is horrific and what want. Horrific and what they want. They dont want a peaceful two state solution. They dont want israel to exist. They want the same as our isis one and as are the taliban in afghanistan. When they want one religion in one ruler, and thats it across the world that you cant negotiate with people like that. And theyve set back any negotiations, havent they, and hurt their own cause in so many ways. But you know, israel is angry, legitimately, incredibly angry, legitimately, incredibly angry it exists for angry because it exists for a safe place for jewish angry because it exists for a safe place forjewish live and safe place for jewish live and they do not feel safe right now. And yet there are questions, legitimate questions from the United Nations, from the president of america about proportionality now and what to do with the many innocents, the women, the children who are in gaza, arguably being used as human shields, but also having nowhere to go whilst these retaliatory raids and shells are taking place and discussions now and calls from aid agencies as well for a humanitarian corridor to open urgently. Do you think to open urgently. Do you think that those are those are the sorts of discussions that were going to see more of as we see these Ground Troops amassing on these Ground Troops amassing on the border . Know what, isabel these you know what, isabel these are the discussions we should have having time have been having a long time ago. Isnt about ago. This is this isnt about saturday. This has been about whats on in this region whats going on in this region for decades know, for decades now. You know, thousands have died thousands of people have died over years, probably over the years, probably millions and we dont millions by now. And we dont seem to have done anything to tackle this situation. And its heartbreaking. And, you know, the papers today representing, you know, the Horror Stories about people just waking well, not waking up on a saturday morning, an ordinary saturday morning, an ordinary saturday morning murdered in morning and being murdered in their beds just a quickly before we andy, what do you we move on, andy, what do you make of the protests or even celebrations as nigel farage called them in britain in the in the aftermath of what happened in france, for example, theyve been sending in riot police to shut these pro palestine, pro hamas, as they call them, protests down. And weve seen this this rise in anti semitic attacks in britain. What do you think about britain. What do you think about the consequence is on the streets for brits of this . Well, there arent any consequences, are there, unless youre unless youre somebody who is just almost saying to her friend whos scared to go to school, a consequence. School, thats a consequence. Theres for theres no consequence for driving Central London or driving around Central London or indeed other cities of the world, etcetera, honking world, sydney, etcetera, honking your palestinian your horn, waving palestinian flags and treating this as a moment of celebration. There is a fair and sensible a room for fair and sensible protest , and a room for fair and sensible protest, and sometimes a room for fair and sensible protest , and sometimes protest protest, and sometimes protest is loud , honking your horn, is loud, honking your horn, screaming, anti semitic songs. Thats a hate crime. And i dont understand why this is prosecuted. We saw the horrible pictures of those two idiots at a football match holding pictures of that young boy who died to talk died of cancer to talk opposition they were opposition fans. They were charged crime charged with a hate crime straight dont really straight away. I dont really see how cheering the deaths of thousands of people is not a hate while supporting hamas in this country is illegal. Its a proscribed terrorist organisation. You can end up in jail for 14 years, but its that line, isnt it, between whether youre coming out trying to show solidarity with people in palestine or if you are showing support for hamas or celebrating what has happened in israel. And it frankly is hugely traumatising for the Jewish Community. I do think what Suella Braverman appropriate, many people say absolutely. And do people say absolutely. And i do think Suella Braverman has think what Suella Braverman has said today about the potentially banning flag , i banning the palestine flag, i think thats a dangerous ground to be on because its causing more division. More division. Okay. And the thing is, you okay. And the thing is, you know , lets say in france, know, lets say in france, theyre treating this seriously. I think weve got some live shots, actually. Now, look, just come up. This is of gaza. Come up. This is of gaza. Theres been shelling throughout the night. Its been reported in the night. Its been reported in the early hours. Its continued into the daylight there. Yeah , absolutely. The sun has yeah, absolutely. The sun has risen. But you cant actually see sky through all the see the sky through all the thick smoke. If youre listening on the radio and you can just see plumes of smoke from from multiple locations. And this is the ongoing onslaught of retaliatory shells and bombs going into gaza. The idf always holding their hands up and letting people know when they will happen. And but were going will happen. And but were going to move on because we need to talk about some of the other stories making the news this morning. And then we will be speaking in just a few moments to the secretary of state for defence. Should talk about defence. Should we talk about holly seems a bit Holly Willoughby . It seems a bit of change, but funnily of a gear change, but funnily enough, my who, you know, enough, my aunt who, you know, shes sort of quite a sensible, serious person, only ever texted me a news anchor when theres me as a news anchor when theres a phil or holly scandal. And yesterday i get a message saying, whats the latest . Why she left . It is so people are talking about but know what . I think theres also a distraction thing going on here. You cope with the horrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats cope with the horrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats going with the horrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats going cm the horrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats going on inre horrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats going on in theorrors distraction thing going on here. Yo whats going on in the middle of whats going on in the middle east the moment. So something east at the moment. So something thatis east at the moment. So something that is distracting as in Holly Willoughby and cant get willoughby and i cant quite get my the fact that it my head around the fact that it was live from israel, was announced live from israel, by was announced live from israel, by but yeah, by the way. Yeah. But yeah, shes quit because shes shes quit because obviously kidnap threat to shes shes quit because obv family kidnap threat to shes shes quit because obv family , kidnap threat to shes shes quit because obv family , shednap threat to shes shes quit because obv family , she feels threat to shes shes quit because obv family , she feels she at to shes shes quit because obv family , she feels she can no her family, she feels she can no longer have a high profile position on tv and take her children school. Children to school. Difficult. Dawn difficult. Okay. Dawn and andy, from you, andy, well have more from you, hopefully after this. Were going quick break. And going to take a quick break. And after were talking the after that, were talking to the defence secretary welcome back. At 646, we can welcome back. At 646, we can speak now to the secretary of state for defence grant shapps joins us this morning from brussels. Good morning to you. Good to see you. I want to start good to see you. I want to start by talking about day five on this. What is an ongoing nightmare, frankly , israel, nightmare, frankly, israel, Hamas Conflict. Right. Nightmare, frankly, israel, Hamas Conflict. Right. And nightmare, frankly, israel, Hamas Conflict. Right. And the Hamas Conflict. Right. And the reports that were hearing of possibly up to 40 babies having been involved in a massacre at a kibbutz on the border with gaza. Just kibbutz on the border with gaza. Just your reflections on that. First of all, this morning. First of all, this morning. Morning. Well, its just horrendous , isnt it . And horrendous, isnt it . And reports of babies being butchered and festival goers , as butchered and festival goers, as we heard the other day, being slaughtered, even holocaust survivor being murdered. And survivor being murdered. And this isnt just militants or or gunmen , as im seeing it gunmen, as im seeing it described in some places , as you described in some places, as you call it, what it is. This is pure and simple terrorism from hamas, a proscribed organisation , an illegal, in other words, in this country who have gone out of their way to cause mayhem and murder in israel. And we stand murder in israel. And we stand four square behind israel and the israelis at this time look like in terms of support from the u. K, you know , we can see the u. K, you know, we can see the u. K, you know, we can see the troops amassing on the border with gaza. We think that there might be a ground offensive from israel into there. I mean, what sort of support are they asking for and what are we providing this what are we providing at this point . Well, ive spoken to israeli ministers over the last day or two, and theyre obviously first of all, the first thing says israel has the perfect right to defend itself against this kind of terrorism. And we think that of terrorism. And we think that the death toll is about 1200. Many thousands more injured. And many thousands more injured. And the attack was clearly absolutely barbaric in nature. So they have an absolute right to defend themselves. We have to defend themselves. We have asked them to ask us when they need anything specific like they and those conversations are ongoing. But but, you know, i think the main thing that they needis think the main thing that they need is understanding and support from the rest of the world right now because what happened was unprecedented and frankly, pure evil. Frankly, pure evil. Yeah. And no one could disagree with that. There have been, though, 900 deaths on the palestinian side. And we heard from the president of the United States who echoed your sentiments there, a full square support for israel. But the diplomatic language from him very carefully spoken about concerns about International Law , reports of civilians being used as human shields. And there used as human shields. And there has to be a line doesnt there, in terms of what sort of action can we condone as the west in terms of how that will affect women and children, people who didnt choose or have nothing to do with hamas . And there are calls as well for humanitarian corridor . I mean, how concerned are you about the involvement of palestinians, civilians in all of this . Of this . Well, the first thing says, i dont believe that hamas represent the Palestinian People and hamas behaviour. And we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. That has no being beheaded. That has no place in the 21st century that is at a different and completely different moral scale to a country defending itself at actually typically trying to give notice this before for example, a building is hit what they call knock and drop. So theres actually opportunity for people to get out. That is people to get out. That is completely different to what these terrorists and hamas are doing. But the responsibility lies fairly and squarely with hamas in a situation like this. Hamas in a situation like this. And i dont think there should be any question of trying to make sort of moral equivalence between israel trying to defend itself and the way that hamas have gone around butchering people. And you know , almost people. And you know, almost revelling in in murdering festival goers, for example, i think these are two very different things. Okay mr shapps, youre in brussels and joseph borrell, the eus high rep for Foreign Affairs , high rep for Foreign Affairs, has said that while he agrees with you and rishi sunak that the israel has the right to defend itself, it has to be done according to the rights of its national law and humanity, korean law, and specifically that referring to that hes referring to the concept cutting off the concept of cutting off the electricity the water power electricity and the water power to gaza. Is that the right thing to gaza. Is that the right thing to gaza. Is that the right thing to do . Because you are then effectively putting an entire country, including. Innocent country, including. Innocent bystanders, under siege . Well, first of all, as i said before, we support israels right to defend itself. I think thats the first principle. Secondly, you know, these are very early days and as much as the border only just been the border has only just been resealed, think in the last 24 resealed, i think in the last 24 hours or so. So you know, israel will have needed to take taken some steps in order to seal that border. Of course, everyone border. Of course, Everyone Needs to act within International Law. Butjust go International Law. But just go back to hamas and the way that they have behaved and the fact that none of this would be happening had they not broken out and murdered indiscriminately. Men, women and indiscriminately. Men, women and children. And were not just children. And were not just talking about, you know, the idf, the israeli Defence Forces, the army in other words, were talking about civilians being deliberately targeted and attacked. And im confident that israel will not be involved in doing that kind of thing. And can i ask you your reaction when we heard the foreign secretary urging palestinian supporters not to come out or at least to think twice about going out and protesting on british streets . And we saw Israeli Embassy and we saw the Israeli Embassy having be boarded up and having to be boarded up and there were serious concerns about, you know, tensions on the streets of london. I know youre a jewish man yourself. What was your own reaction to seeing those sorts scenes in the uk . Those sorts of scenes in the uk . Well i think the government wants to do all the British Government wants to do all it can to reassure in particular the communities in in britain , the communities in in britain, Jewish Community. Obviously , that the police obviously, that the police will take a zero tolerance approach to this. The home approach to this. The home secretary has been very strong on this subject. And, you know, on this subject. And, you know, generally, i have to say , the generally, i have to say, the communities by and large get on very well. In britain. Its one of the unique features of or impressive features of a british communal life. Impressive features of a british communal life. And we want it to communal life. And we want it to stay that way. And so we dont stay that way. And so we dont want people to be going out and doing things which are blatantly inflammatory. Doing things which are blatantly inflammatory. But doing things which are blatantly inflammatory. But worse still, inflammatory. But worse still, remember that hamas itself is a proscribed terrorist organisation in in britain. Now that means that supporting that terrorist organisation , ocean, terrorist organisation, ocean, can land you in serious trouble , including many years in jail. So we dont want people to sort of misunderstand and think that thatis of misunderstand and think that that is okay when it is not in britain, but of course, as ever, we are the home of free speech, but it should be done in a respectful way and that is what we expect of all communities. Well mr shapps, you could definitely argue that it hasnt been done in a respectful way in the united kingdom. The united kingdom. The glorification of what hamas did has been rife on the streets of london. We have jewish schoolchildren afraid to wear their blazers to school. We wear their blazers to school. We have businesses being stoved in. We have anti semitic graffiti emerging across the country. Last week, Suella Braverman was saying multiculturalism isnt working in the uk. All these types of conflicts, bringing that into view. We have import noted problems on domestic soil in france. The cops are going in and theyre stopping these protests in their tracks. Why dont we do the same in the uk. Well, i actually at the cobra, the emergency meeting on monday at the government, i was Suella Braverman the home secretary was there. And she was very clear with the police also represented there that there should be a zero tolerance approach to this. Now obviously, the police cant help when somebody breaks a window, but they can make sure that they go after prosecute the after and prosecute the persecutors of those sort of activities. And that is what we activities. And that is what we expect to see happen. People should know that they cannot go around and do those things and indeed cant interfere, date other people and intimidate other people and intimidate other communities. Theres always that fine line between free speech, the ability to say what you think and things which step over that line and start to intimidate other communities. Intimidate other communities. And the British Government is firmly on the side of keeping this civil, asking the police to do their bit. And well well continue to maintain that. And i have to say, as you mentioned, i happen to be jewish as well as our defence secretary. And i can tell you that the Jewish Community has taken a great deal of solace from, for example , the of solace from, for example, the Prime Minister attending synagogue, expressing his deep condolences and also making clear from the Prime Minister, the foreign secretary, the home secretary , myself as defence secretary, myself as defence secretary, myself as defence secretary , that our number one secretary, that our number one priority is to ensure that communities at home do feel safe and make sure that the police do have the powers that they need to follow up. Well, the Prime Minister taking a very strong position on that and indeed on another ongoing conflict that going on between russia. And between ukraine and russia. And that me to the reason you that brings me to the reason you are this morning and are in brussels this morning and you want to unveil a big announcement this morning in terms of further british support i yeah, thats right. We have a package which is another £100 million, which is a british led support, and that is in particular to deal with the mines because ukraine is now the most mined country in the world. Im talking about all those mines that have been laid down by putins troops and other money as well to deal with anti aircraft and missile intrusions. And about another £70 million there. But as you say, i am actually in brussels today to meet with about 50 countries, all of whom sit full square behind ukraine. And one of the things that were very determined to do today is ensure that not withstanding problems elsewhere in the world and of course, this terrorism is horrific. Terrorism in israel , horrific. Terrorism in israel, and we will not lose sight of and we will not lose sight of and will not be forgetting what is happening right here in europe. And it would be a massive mistake for putin to imagine for one moment that the worlds attention is in any way distracted , and that should distracted, and that should somehow give him a free hand. So were here not just as it were, in spirit , were here not just as it were, in spirit, meeting each were here not just as it were, in spirit , meeting each other, in spirit, meeting each other, but also putting money into the fight to make sure that putin cannot win this war really quickly. I just want to ask you about sir Keir Starmers speech yesterday at the Labour Party Conference, making an audacious appeal to blue wall voters, calling for anyone who might feel that the tories dont work for them anymore. How much of a for them anymore. How much of a threat do you think the labour party is to some of those people who may be feeling a little bit alienated in recent months and years . Well, im afraid because i was dealing with the situation in both in israel and ukraine. I didnt get a chance to watch his speech. But what i can say is that when it comes to do i hear there was a bit in there about housing. I used to be a housing minister and i well remember for the number of homes built under the number of homes built under the last Labour Government dropped to the lowest level since so their record was since 1924. So their record was pretty appalling on that sort of thing. What heard of the thing. What i heard of the speech like was speech that sounded like it was more and glitz than more glitter and glitz than substance. Okay secretary of state for defence, we appreciate your time. Thank you very much indeed for from brussels forjoining us from brussels this. This morning. Okay. And here is aidan magee ivan with your weather. Thats next. Hello very good morning to you. Its Aidan Mcgivern here from the met office with the gb news forecast. Its another great start the south, but brighter start in the south, but brighter weather finally in the far north whilst in between areas of rain, certainly wet conditions through the rush hour across much of wales , parts of Northern England wales, parts of Northern England moving into the midlands by mid morning and then parts of east anglia as well to the south, a few light showers after the early mist clears, but mostly dry south of the m4. I suspect some brightness coming through and still some warmth, but not as warm as it has been. 20 or 21 celsius. Meanwhile, quite a chilly feel for northern parts of the country. Northern ireland, scotland. Yes, therell be some blue skies out there, but therell also be a cold wind blowing from north, reaching blowing from the north, reaching gale exposed gale force around exposed coasts of and of northern scotland and bringing quite number of bringing in quite a number of showers across northern and western scotland in particular. Theyll continue into the evening but evening and overnight, but but mostly coastal mostly restricted to coastal parts. Plenty of clear parts. Inland, plenty of clear skies and a chilly start tomorrow with temperatures in the mid single figures, perhaps low in some low single figures in some sheltered spots. Further south, weve got lots of cloud, weve got further outbreaks of rain again, along the m4 again, running along the m4 corridor, but some outbreaks of rain further south than that, clearing. And around the clearing. And finally around the middle morning from east middle of the morning from east anglia south east staying anglia in the south east staying fairly and drizzly well fairly damp and drizzly as well as overcast for southern counties of england. This is breakfast with Isabel Webster and myself. Martin daubney. And heres whats leading the news this morning. Inside an Israeli Border village where entire families were killed. Reporters are shown the scene of a where the bodies of a massacre where the bodies of men , women and many children , men, women and many children, including been including babies, have been found as according to Israeli Military. Gb news investigative military. Gb news Investigative Reporter Charlie Peters is in tel aviv for us. In the last hour , more in the last hour, more israeli airstrikes into gaza and the response from Hamas Terrorists has started this morning with rockets fired back into israeli territory and early i we spoke to defence secretary grant shapps , hamas behaviour grant shapps, hamas behaviour and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. Bodies being beheaded. That has no place in the 21st century. That is at a different and completely different moral scale to a Country Defence adding itself. Well, thats as the European Union is condemning israels blockade of gaza, saying the denial of food, water and electricity is illegal under International Law. International law. And meanwhile the home secretary ramps up security across the uk to protect jewish communities from hate crimes. Communities from hate crimes. As elsewhere. It was a glittering start to sir keir starmer speech as a protester tried to put him off his stride , but he didnt wobble as he pitched for a decade of labour in number 10. Catherine force whats in store for the final day . Day . Yes, labour delighted with how sir keir starmer speech went down yesterday. Glitter notwith standing today its the turn of the shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson and the Shadow Health secretary, wes streeting , saying that the nhs streeting, saying that the nhs must reform radically to survive. And Luton Airport flights are suspend until midday following a fire in one of its Multi Storey Car Parks. Car parks. Thats as five people are taken to hospital with injuries. And itvs this morning presenter Holly Willoughby sensationally quit the show after 14 years. It comes as a mans been charged with soliciting to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the star and Aidan Mcgivern has your weather. Its a reversal of fortunes for much of the uk in todays weather. Brighter skies for scotland, but wetter conditions for wales and central england. Full details in the forecast. Com or you can tweet us at. Gb news. On day five of israels war on hamas , shocking details have on hamas, shocking details have emerged of a massacre during the terror groups assault on israeli communities. Reporters have been shown the scene of a massacre at a village close to gaza. Well, as a warning, you may find these images disturbing. Were showing you now the village of kfar azar. Its a kibbutz where the military told reporters, men, women and children , including many babies, children, including many babies, had been killed hamas gunmen i the military told reporters that entire families were found deadin that entire families were found dead in their homes , including babies. Well , israels babies. Well, israels Bombing Campaign on gaza has continued this morning and hamas have also been firing rockets into israel i more than 200 buildings were destroyed overnight. The united nafions. Destroyed overnight. The United Nations. Reports 260,000 nations. Reports 260,000 civilians have now been displaced and entire neighbourhoods have been destroyed. Meanwhile hamas has continued to fire rockets into israel. Well, casualty casualty numbers are mounting on both sides as israel puts their death toll at 1200. And the Gaza Health Ministry has reported at least 900 have been killed in airstrikes. Ai rstri kes. And airstrikes. And israel has also cut off water, Food Supplies and electricity into gaza after a european meeting last night. The eu Foreign Policy chief said he opposed the blockade of gaza. Well, has the right to defend, but it has to be done accordingly with International Law, humanity and law and some decisions are contrary to this. The International Law, the Palestinian Authority is our partner. We dont deal with hamas. But yes , we support and hamas. But yes, we support and we deal and we Work Together with the Palestinian Authority. With the Palestinian Authority. And not all the Palestinian People are terrorists. So people are terrorists. So a collective punishment against all palestinians will be unfair and unproductive. Lviv while the and unproductive. Lviv while the uk and the United States have offered their full support to israel to contain hamas, the first planeload of ammunition from america, having just landed in israel and we can cross to there and speak to gb news Charlie Peters , who joins us Charlie Peters, who joins us from tel aviv. Good morning to you, charlie. Weve just in the last few minutes been speaking to the defence secretary who condemned the of babies and the killing of babies and children, describing it as on a whole nother level and having no place in the 21st century. Place in the 21st century. Yes. And reports of those atrocities from southern israel floating up to the central and the northern regions where we are in tel aviv, as people fled their kibbutzes and sought refuge in hotels and the homes of friends in the city and the surrounding area. The fighter surrounding area. The fighter jets have been flying over our location here consistently overnight as they make their way down to gaza, where there has been a major Bombing Campaign overnight , as you been a major Bombing Campaign overnight, as you said, been a major Bombing Campaign overnight , as you said, 200 overnight, as you said, 200 buildings targeted. And the idf buildings targeted. And the idf said this morning that they had struck at hamas air Detection Capabilities , radars that allow capabilities, radars that allow them to track aircraft entering in the airspace and targeting them from the east east mediterranean. Now, as hamas mediterranean. Now, as hamas wakes up from the shelter that they have taken overnight, they are also restarting their own aerial campaign rockets fired into areas east of the gaza strip this morning. The air raid sirens were heard in sderot and there are reports in the last 20 minutes that one of the rockets did make a direct impact on that town. Now, this town has endured so much already in the last five days. Many of the atrocities being reported were committed there. Its just a few kilometres away from the border with gaza, which was breached so successfully by Hamas Terrorists early on saturday morning. And as this conflict escalates , as as this conflict escalates, as weve also heard, there is this question of american involvement , advanced munitions arriving last night from the us to a southern israeli airport port and the Us National Security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said last night that as this bombardment increases and us weapons are involved , they are weapons are involved, they are focussed on the safe passage of palestinians out of gaza, possibly into to egypt, they said they are focussed on this question with regards to american troops, he said there will be no boots on the ground but intelligence support to israel would continue. Israel would continue. Charlie besa from tel aviv, thank you. And its just breaking news now. The Israeli Air Force has Just Announced its attacked over 80 sites in gaza overnight, including two Bank Branches used by hamas to Fund Terrorism in gaza and also a an area used to detect aircraft aircraft over the gaza strip. So significant action strip. So significant action overnight. Overnight. Well, lets speak to the Award Winning investigative journalist now in lazareva, whos based in tel aviv. Good morning to you. In a listen, i wanted to talk to you about the latest lines that were hearing this morning. Continued strikes on both sides. Bring us up to on both sides. Bring us up to date. Date. Yes, its absolutely devastating thing in israel. Of course, the air strikes are continuing in. The rockets are continuing in. The rockets are continuing to be fired into southern part of israel. As you heard from our correspondent, a direct strike on a house in sderot on the palestinian side in gaza. Its there is israel in gaza. Its there is israel stopped the supply of water yesterday. There is no electricity. Food stocks are estimated to last only 8 to 10 days. More theres hardly any power. Diesel supposed to run power. Diesel supposed to run out any minute now. Yesterday, there was an attempt by egypt to bnngin there was an attempt by egypt to bring in some supplies via the rafah crossing between gaza and egypt. This was bombed by israel yesterday as well. The situation yesterday as well. The situation is very dire. At the same time, on the israeli side, were getting more and more devastating news as as we have been since saturday morning about atrocities committed, mass murders of infants and children. And of course, one of the biggest issues is the number of hostages being held, about 150 people, at least , who have been people, at least, who have been taken into gaza. And these are not just israeli taken into gaza. And these are notjust israeli nationals. Not just israeli nationals. There are quite a few foreign nationals amongst them as well. Nationals amongst them as well. List have been actually working with families to try and help them trace their loved ones. And ive just been reading overnight as well that americans are sending in hostage experts to try and help with that search as well. As well. Yes, thats right. Its a its a very, very painful situation for any country is in particular has a specific policy where they leave. No, no, man, woman or child behind. So in previous situations, for one, israeli soldier that had been kidnapped, there were approximately 1000 palestinians, more than 1000 palestinian prisoners that israel released in exchange. So if there are 150 people or more, you can imagine the calculus is quite devastating and devastating. And so what is your work specifically been dealing with families in trying to trace them and obviously an agonising wait for news so many people unsure if loved ones are alive or dead if loved ones are alive or dead if theyre being held in gaza or what their condition is. I mean , tell us the stories of the people that youve been speaking to. Yes, i was at the missing Persons Centre close to ben gurion airport, israels main airport. The centre was just set up in recent days and throughout the days, families just streaming in and they look haggard like they havent havent been sleeping for many nights on end. Theyre nights on end. Theyre clutching, they arriving, clutching, they arriving, clutching bags belonging with belong , belonging to the missing belong, belonging to the missing people , all with objects that people, all with objects that may have traces on them so that these can be matched with remains that are found by by israeli officials on site. So its a very a gruelling task. And for many people going into these kind of centres and going through this process, this is a very painful reckoning. The acknowledgement that their loved ones may they may be dead or indeed kidnapped , and now the indeed kidnapped, and now the families are beginning to get news from the authorities as to what happened. But theyve theyve been facing several days without any knowledge of whats been happening to their loved ones or relatives. So now there are also many funerals across the country. So its a very , the country. So its a very, very, very sad day. Yeah okay. Anna lazareva, thank you very much for joining us this morning news from tel this morning on gb news from tel aviv. You. This morning on gb news from tel aviwell, you. This morning on gb news from tel aviwell, in you. This morning on gb news from tel aviwell, in the. This morning on gb news from tel aviwell, in the last hour, well, in the last half hour, weve been to the weve been speaking to the defence grant shapps, defence secretary, grant shapps, and by asking how and we started by asking how concerned he is about the Palestinian Civilians involved in the war. There are concerns of a rise in anti semitism in the uk since hamas launched its attack on Israel Community Security Trust is a charity that arranges security personnel for jewish schools across the nation. Ceo mark gardner says security was already extremely tight, but more measures are being put in place. You have real proper fencing i you have the school built a long way back from the road in case of a car bomb. You have protective film on the windows. Protective film on the windows. You have cctvs that feed into our own 24 over seven control centre. You have infrared mechanisms that detect any movement breaking through perimeters. You have guards on perimeters. You have guards on the site, but whatever else we can add on top, we will do so. And theres certainly an increase in the regularity of Police Patrols , past jewish Police Patrols, past jewish schools and past places where jews, School Children wait for buses and come off trains, etcetera, etcetera. And there etcetera, etcetera. And there are some schools where they will now be a Police Presence at opening and closing times since the conflict began. This weekend, jewish communities across london have been supporting each other as people wait to hear for news of their loved ones. Eric elbaz has cousins serving in the Israeli Military. My cousin who sends me regular texts, he said. Im happy to share my information. Happy to share my information. Then he goes, my childhood friend amit and his brother were killed in hazara, the son of our good friend and neighbour was killed as a combat fighter in the battle in kosovo, where my son is now with his team. A son is now with his team. A sister of one of my soldiers from team oz who was seriously injured in lebanon and her husband, little girl, were murdered in their home in kafr , murdered in their home in kafr, which is a kibbutz in gaza. So which is a kibbutz in gaza. So he keeps sending me updates. But he keeps sending me updates. But its a true reflection of whats going on. First hand. You do feel on high alert because there are things that are going on on our doorstep. And a friend of mine who was walking home from synagogue was spat at by a just a random person , an i myself a random person, an i myself when i was walking from synagogue and i was crossing the road, a car opened their window and shouted obscenities about jews. So it is it and shouted obscenities about jews. So it is it is on our doorstep. Doorstep. Rabbi meir schindler says the Jewish Community in north london is feeling helpless. Yeah, there may be great distance, but in terms of our hearts, were very close and, you know , just simply to find you know, just simply to find something that we can do, whether it to be to donate to a good cause, Emergency Services , good cause, Emergency Services, voluntary services, there , voluntary services, there, suppues voluntary services, there, supplies to soldiers, the reservists whove been called up without, you know , without any without, you know, without any sort of preparation and just theres not enough food and dnnk theres not enough food and drink for them. Soto theres not enough food and drink for them. So to donate to drink for them. Soto donate to those causes and to pray , thats those causes and to pray, thats really as much as we could do with the conflict escalating. With the conflict escalating. More civilians on both sides are losing their lives whilst communities in the uk pray that their loved ones survive. Lisa their loved ones survive. Lisa hartle gb news london. Well, clearly that wasnt the defence secretary. That was our report from lisa hartle. But we can now hear from grant shapps hamas behaviour and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. That has no place in the 21st century that is at a different and completely different moral scale to a country defending itself. Actually typically trying to give notice before, for example, a building is hit. What they call knock and drop. So theres actually be opportunity for people to get out. That is completely different to what these terrorists and hamas are doing. But the response ability lies fairly and squarely with hamas in a situation like this. And i dont think there should be any question of trying to make sort of moral equivalence between israel trying to defend itself and the way that hamas have gone around butchering people. Around butchering people. And that was grant shapps earlier on, gb news moving on. Flights have been suspended at Luton Airports after a large fire engulfed a Multi Storey Car Park overnight with five people reportedly now being taken to hospital with their injuries. Bedfordshire fire and rescue service declared a Major Incident and passengers have been asked not travel to the airport. Well, joining us now from outside Luton Airport is travel expert simon cole. Good morning to you, simon. Whats the latest on five people hospitalised . Must be absolute chaos for the passengers at Luton Airport. Now well, its actually eerily quiet, martin, and thats because , well, apart from because, well, apart from hundreds of passengers whose flights were cancelled at the very last minute last night, they were on board the aircraft and then suddenly, about 11 30, they were told, youre not going anywhere, find a hotel. Anywhere, find a hotel. Now, of course, there were no rooms apart that. Its rooms apart from that. Its actually nobody can get in or out. The actually nobody can get in or out. The airport actually nobody can get in or out. The airport says do not out. The airport says do not come here. If you are planning to travel before 12 noon, talk to travel before 12 noon, talk to your airline. To travel before 12 noon, talk to your airline. And all flights to your airline. And all flights have been cancelled until this afternoon at the earliest. The trouble is, with one of the uks top five airports, you cant simply turn it on at 12 00 and hope everything is going to work okay. Youve got to get the security staff, the check in. People , flight crew, all to people, flight crew, all to the airport in order to get things to work. The fire is now most definitely under control. As you say , five people treated in say, five people treated in hospital for smoke inhalation. Hospital for smoke inhalation. Clearly a car park fire, particularly when it is so close to an airport terminal, is a very serious concern because of the problems with fuel, with the batteries and real chemical hazard. There now, there are thousands of people out of position this morning. Loads of position this morning. Loads of flights diverted last night to as far away as manchester, liverpool , bristol and cardiff liverpool, bristol and cardiff on top of that, i calculate at least 25,000 people. So far have had their flights cancelled. Had their flights cancelled. Thats 170 departures in had their flights cancelled. Thats170 departures in and out of london, luton. So im afraid its going to take some days before people are where they need to be. A comprehensive overview from simon calder there. Thanks very much indeed, joining us there from Luton Airport. Moving on now this morning, presenter a presenter Holly Willoughby, a sensationally quit the itv show after 14 years. This comes after after 14 years. This comes after a man was charged with soliciting to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the star. The mother of three well, the mother of three took to social media to express her over leaving the her sorrow over leaving the show, that the show, but says that the difficult for difficult decision was made for her and her family. Lets speak to the Showbiz Reporter , ellie to the Showbiz Reporter, Ellie Phillips, in phillips, who joins us in the studio. Good morning to you, ellie. It feels as though the writing the in terms writing was on the wall in terms of hollys role on this morning. She wanted to go she probably wanted to go soonen she probably wanted to go sooner, but this was a good opportunity. Is that a Fair Assessment . I think so, yeah. I think this was definitely last this was definitely the last straw. Actually, straw. And actually, i was thinking before thinking about it before publicly. Felt publicly. I think people felt that from this that the fallout from this morning holly and phillip morning with holly and Phillip Schofield when the queen schofield began when the queen lay the end of last lay in state at the end of last yean lay in state at the end of last year, but back in april year, but actually back in april last she left ymu, which last year, she left ymu, which was management company, her was her management company, her agency, and set up her own roxy management. And i think that actually was like, actually was when she was like, you know what . I want to strike out my i to be in out on my own. I want to be in control of my own career here and potentially be separate from phil, at time signed phil, who was at the time signed to i think thats where to ymu who i think thats where it began. And then obviously five ago, he left this five months ago, he left this morning. Was adamant morning. She was adamant that she going stay. She she was going to stay. She actually her pay packet actually got her pay packet increased a increased from what was a whopping £700,000. More whopping £700,000. She got more than that return. She has than that to return. She has returned. Of returned. But instead of returning shes returning with a co host, shes been with this been on her own with this rotation of revolving reporters alongside her, none of which shes gelled well alongside her, none of which shes and gelled well alongside her, none of which shes and now gelled well alongside her, none of which shes and now whats ed well alongside her, none of which shes and now whats happened is with. And now whats happened is obviously last week we found out awfully that she this threat awfully that she had this threat against of kidnap and murder against her of kidnap and murder , allegedly. Someone, thankfully has been with that. And has been charged with that. And now is no longer on the streets. However, for her, i think that was know what, enough is was you know what, enough is enough. Clearly not enough. Now, im not clearly not happy the show itself. Happy in the show itself. Rumours behind the scenes were that she struggling without rumours behind the scenes were that sithere struggling without rumours behind the scenes were that sithere st herjling without rumours behind the scenes were that sithere st her side. Without rumours behind the scenes were that sithere st her side. Andyut philip there by her side. And i think this her in away and think this gave her in away and out say, time is done, im out to say, my time is done, im out. Shes not leaving itv out. But shes not leaving itv just this morning. Okay. And do you think eddie, that to be made that theres a case to be made that theres a case to be made that show itself is running that the show itself is running out steam . We saw with top out of steam . We saw with top gear and what happened with Freddie Flintoff is the brand itself now so tainted its time to it a day or will the to call it a day or will the show just on . Show just roll on . Something will i think something will obviously happen that i think something will obvioslot happen that i think something will obvioslot of happen that i think something will obvioslot of a happen that i think something will obvioslot of a similaryen that i think something will obvioslot of a similar format, iat time slot of a similar format, whether they rebrand it from this to another it this morning to another name, it doesnt but mean, to doesnt matter. But i mean, to give her dues and herself, give holly her dues and herself, she statement when she she in her statement when she said she was resigning, walking away, said that, you know, theyre overseeing theyre just kind of overseeing theyre just kind of overseeing the will the show. The show will continue. Than continue. Its more than just the as eamonns continue. Its more than just the many as eamonns continue. Its more than just the many a as eamonns continue. Its more than just the many a time, eamonns continue. Its more than just the many a time, itsonns continue. Its more than just the many a time, its bigger said, many a time, its bigger than the hosts. You know, theres always someone to step in and replace. There many, in and replace. There are many, many presenters out many talented presenters out there. A difficult there. It is a difficult job to do. You have to have do. I think you have to have a broad knowledge. You have to be able to adapt. She was good able to adapt. She was very good at but i think moving at that. But i think moving fonnard show, just fonnard with the show, they just have to decide are they going to keep rotating presenter keep this rotating presenter thing going to come keep this rotating presenter thing probably going to come keep this rotating presenter thing probably ingoing to come keep this rotating presenter thing probably injanuary come keep this rotating presenter thing probably in january andie back . Probably in january and relaunch new faces. You relaunch with two new faces. You know, the helm. Know, at the helm. Interesting times. Well, very interesting times. Well, thanks much for the thanks very much for the overview, ellie. Appreciate it. Come, well be okay. Still to come, well be speaking to shadow education secretary phillipson. Secretary Bridget Phillipson. Thats n ext next now, all eyes have been in liverpool over the last few days for the Labour Party Conference. Keir starmer yesterday front and centre as he made his pitch for power. And yeah , it was a bit of power. And yeah, it was a bit of a glittering performance. You could say, wasnt it . Would it . Well, i thought that when the Extinction Rebellion yobbo chucked glitter, i it very i thought he handled it very well, frightening actually. Well, very frightening actually. Could have been much more it could have been much more serious. So good job. Was serious. So a good job. That was all resolved easily in all resolved pretty easily in this chat that you can see on screen moment was screen at the moment was arrested. Keir starmer arrested. But sir keir starmer was a decade of was promising a decade of renewal said he renewal under labour. He said he aims a britain that is aims to create a britain that is built to last. Lets take listen. Do not doubt that the fire of change still burns in britain. The question is whether it lives on inside labour. And today we show it does. Today we turn the show it does. Today we turn the page and answer the question why labour with the plan for a britain built to last with higher growth , safer streets, higher growth, safer streets, cheap british power in your home, more opportunity in your community, the nhs off its knees. A britain with its future back well , a little bit later on back well, a little bit later on this morning, labour will be unveiling a plan to encourage stronger lifelong numeracy, numeracy skills. And were going to speak to the education secretary, the shadow education secretary, bridget be Bridget Phillipson, who will be herself the stage herself taking to the stage today. Morning you, today. Good morning to you, bridget, to talk bridget, and i want to talk about a moment. But about that in just a moment. But if we could start with your boss, keir starmer. Just a boss, sir keir starmer. Just a word on on the protester invading the stage. I mean, some people obviously of people i mean, obviously lots of praise way he handled praise for the way he handled it. Think there was it. But do you think there was a sort of quite slow response . Sort of quite a slow response . It been much more it could have been much more serious, couldnt it . I thought he handled it incredibly didnt incredibly well and he didnt allow himself be blown off allow himself to be blown off course. I mean, i thought the glitter him, but course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious him, but course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious , him, but course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious , you him, but course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious , you know, but course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious , you know, itit course. I mean, i thought the glitte serious , you know, it is more serious, you know, it is a concern that someone could get that close. And im sure that issue will be reviewed to make sure it cant happen again. Sure it cant happen again. Okay. Bridget, education, okay. So, bridget, education, education, education, here we are today. Echoes of tony blair. Youre unveiling labours plan for real world primary maths to get Primary School kids interested in numeracy. It sounds like rishi sunaks plan, which the labour party took the mickey out of no , the problem mickey out of no, the problem with rishi sunaks ideas is that they start way too late. Its no good at 16 trying to get children involved in a love of maths. We need to do it much of maths. We need to do it much earlier because the problems start earlier, which is why today labours today im talking about labours plans make sure that plans to make sure that our youngest children right youngest children and right throughout Primary School get a really foundation really Firm Foundation in in maths really enjoy it maths that they really enjoy it and that we support teachers in how teaching maths, how theyre teaching maths, education and bedding some of those real world examples into the teaching maths to bring the teaching of maths to bring it to life for children and young people. Its labour whos the high rising the party of high and rising standards in our schools, and ill seeing more that ill be seeing more about that today Conference Speech today in my Conference Speech and of the plan and bridget, part of the plan seems to be the teacher training , entitlement, encouraging Primary School teachers who dont actually teach maths to increase. Increase their numeracy. And of course this has to be paid for somehow. Isnt part of the problem with the labour Party Getting into power . When liam famously left that liam byrne famously left that letter saying theres no money left , letter saying theres no money left, National Debt was a mere 900 billion. Now its 2. 6 trillion. Wheres the money to going come from . Going come from . I mean, theres no doubting that the economy is in a total mess, that the conservatives crushed it and weve got little growth to speak of. But all of the plans that were setting out, including the plan im setting today around primary setting out today around primary numeracy, a fully funded and fully costed politics, is about the choices you make and the choices that you make and the choices that you make and the choices that you make and the choice that labour would make is end the tax breaks make is to end the tax breaks that private schools enjoy and to put that into to put that money into delivering stronger, delivering a much stronger, better education because better state education because thats where the vast majority of to school of our children go to school with real push around high and with a real push around high and rising standards for our children in school. You ever stepped foot in have you ever stepped foot in a private school . I have not officially as shadow education secretary, but ihave shadow education secretary, but i have visited. Ive been to i have visited. Ive been to private schools in the past. Ive used their sports facilities more recently. Im a keen hockey player and i occasionally visit their wonderful sporting facilities as part of that team. But im not responsible for the actions of private schools. And my focus , private schools. And my focus, if i were education secretary, would be on those state schools where the 93 of children in our country go to school. Yeah, its interesting you acknowledge the incredible facilities. Lot of these facilities. A lot of these private allow other private schools allow other people to use come in other indeed state schools within those communities. And i wonder if thats something to do with the rowed back on the reason youve rowed back on your plans to remove your original plans to remove the charitable status private the charitable status of private schools . Know very schools . Because i know very quietly from schools . Because i know very quieof from schools . Because i know very quieof your from schools . Because i know very quieof your big from schools . Because i know very quieof your big pushes from schools . Because i know very quieof your big pushes against one of your big pushes against the independent sector. The independent sector. Well, of course , many people well, of course, many people will pay to use the facilities that private schools have available. They operate them and will often hire them out. Thats will often hire them out. Thats the with state schools, the same with state schools, too. Problem with that too. I have no problem with that. The push that we have is around making sure we can raise that vat and business rates. Those tax reliefs i dont those tax reliefs that i dont believe have and believe they should have and will money directly will invest that money directly into education. And its into state education. And its straightfonnard, quick way of doing make sure doing it. And we can make sure that putting more money that were putting more money into education. Thats into state education. Thats thats what its all about. Lewer he sits on the andrew lewer he sits on the cross party andrew lewer he sits on the cross committee. He said that select committee. He said that your policies clearly underline labours education views are dnven labours education views are driven by spite and the politics of envy. And there is some concern that there is a risk of legal action if you go down the route of these vat changes that could have some sort of unintended consequence for other sectors. Sectors. Look, i think those comments from that conservative mp are frankly just ridiculous, you know, completely out of touch with where the vast majority of parents are. They want a brilliant state education for their children. Thats where your viewers will be sending their children. They want to your viewers will be sending their sureen. They want to your viewers will be sending their sure we they want to your viewers will be sending their sure we got they want to your viewers will be sending their sure we got reallywant to your viewers will be sending their sure we got really strong your viewers will be sending their sure we got really strong , make sure we got really strong, high standards in the high and rising standards in the state sector. Thats what im interested in. Thats ill interested in. Thats what ill be talking this morning be talking about. This morning on better math on conference floor. Better math skills our children. Better skills for our children. Better standards. Right throughout our school got to school system. But weve got to make we want more make choices. If we want more money invest, then thats why money to invest, then thats why well tax breaks that well end the tax breaks that private schools enjoy well private schools enjoy and well use really use that money really effectively better effectively to deliver a better education. An and because we all know that education is life know that education is so life changing particular from children from from more disadvantaged backgrounds. Children from from more dis. Bridgetjed backgrounds. Children from from more dis. Bridget i d backgrounds. Children from from more dis. Bridget i went kgrounds. Children from from more dis. Bridget i went to rounds. Bridget i went to a comprehensive, very proud of that. But i also dont have a problem with private schools. One of the things a lot of people say about the labour party by by hammering the private squeezing the private sector, by squeezing the pips them for the pips out of them to pay for the comps, you would do really comps, all you would do really is the richer pupils will carry on paying, it wont affect them and youll squeeze actually and youll squeeze out actually the aspirational the hard working, aspirational upper classes who upper working middle classes who will chucked back into the will be chucked back into the state their education state system and their education will a consequence of will suffer as a consequence of you the richest pay. You getting the richest to pay. And that that will hammer and that will that will hammer people down food people further down the food chain. Why it the labour chain. Why is it the labour party seems so against private schools . It schools . I dont get where it comes from. Comes from. Respect parents i fully respect parents rights to choose whats best for their children, to choose the school that they want to educate, to see their children educated have absolutely educated in. I have absolutely no but my no problem with that. But my priority driving up standards priority is driving up standards in schools. That has in our state schools. That has to where our focus is. I to be where our focus is. I recognise that parents want the best children. Of best for their children. Of course so many course they do. But so many middle parents have been middle class parents have been pnced middle class parents have been priced of private schools. Priced out of private schools. They put fees up way they have put their fees up way beyond inflation over the course of last decade, thats of the last decade, and thats why increasingly, middle class parents know that the parents want to know that the state to state sector is going to continue improve they continue to improve because they simply afford private simply cannot afford private education. Way beyond the education. Is way beyond the means people. Means of most people. Its interesting. Many but its interesting. Many sort just about managing sort of just about managing independent schools, the sort of affordable day schools that often get very good results have said that they simply dont think that most of the parents that send their children there will be able to absorb any sort of increase in fees that this would about. Its just would bring about. And its just its just a really interesting situation because we dont hear your colleague streeting situation because we dont hear your ccwereje streeting situation because we dont hear your ccwereje siimprove saying were going to improve standards the nhs by forcing standards in the nhs by forcing the closure of some the the closure of some of the private hospitals. You know, surely are using the surely if people are using the private takes private sector, that takes stress off the state, lots of our viewers actually have been emailing and getting touch emailing and getting in touch saying send their saying parents who send their children schools children to private schools should some kind should be getting some kind of tax for taking pressure tax break for taking pressure off the state sector. And in fact, got it the other fact, youve got it the other way round. Average fee across the the average fee across the country for a private school place is in the region of 16,500 pounds. That is way beyond the means of most of your viewers. Means of most of your viewers. And in a climate where lots of the people i represent and where voters right across britain are facing some really tough choices week in, week out about whether they can afford to feed their kids that they would kids in the way that they would like about putting things back when checkout. When they get to the checkout. I think private schools could really looking some really be looking to make some economies. To cut economies. Everyones had to cut back times, and i back in recent times, and i dont think private schools can be some that. Be immune from some of that. But the evidence around the impact it would have, institute it would have, the institute for fiscal studies have done a really thorough an really thorough report. An independent that really thorough report. An indesaidient that really thorough report. An indesaid this that really thorough report. An indesaid this policy that really thorough report. An indesaid this policy would. Hat really thorough report. An indesaid this policy would raise has said this policy would raise 1. 3 to £1. 5 has said this policy would raise 1. 3 to £15 billion in net terms. And i would put that towards more teachers, better standards in our state sector. Okay. Bridget phillipson, shadow secretary of state for education. Youll be making her speech in liverpool today. Thanks much indeed for your thanks very much indeed for your time. You. Thanks very much indeed for your tim okay, you. Thanks very much indeed for your tim okay, itsrou. We said yesterday it was it was turkey that were were was turkey that were also were up for as well. And then they up for it as well. And then they decided you know, decided actually, you know, were go with italy were going to go with italy because confirmed because thats been confirmed for euros. That. So it for the euros. After that. So it is to be uk and ireland. Is going to be uk and ireland. The first game is going to be in cardiff. Gareth bale was out cardiff. The gareth bale was out there. So its something to look fonnard to. Got to look fonnard to. Weve got harry kane was there with sadiq khan and also gareth southgate. I trying out which i was trying to work out which of three will actually still of the three will actually still be there time 2028 comes be there by the time 2028 comes round. But harry says to round. But harry says wants to still be and then hell still be playing and then hell be his late 30s, wants to be in his late 30s, wants to play for as long he can. Play on for as long as he can. Im getting a little bit concerned there. Already concerned there. Theyre already clearing their throats for a rendition coming home rendition of its coming home because is saying because harry kane is saying that theyre going to win the tournament the ghosts of tournament to bury the ghosts of 96 2021. Already 96 and 2021. Already expectations getting expectations are getting artificially raised. Course we are. Mean, how of course we are. I mean, how many have we got to erase many ghosts have we got to erase every time weve got to go back . And the of this one. And its the ghost of this one. Its the ghost of that one. So hopefully, hopefully, harry kane will home. Im bit will bring it home. Im a bit tired of this song, be honest tired of this song, to be honest with you . With you, arent you . Its coming i mean, you its coming home. I mean, you didnt i born tired of didnt like i was born tired of that did you . That song, did you . Didnt even like it when it first in 96. But but first came out in 96. But but anyway, its something to look fonnard to. It will be a festival of football. Its going to hopefully no to be terrific and hopefully no problems like there were. We talk rugby . Can we talk rugby . Can we talk rugby . You know, i always like to talk. Yeah, absolutely. Although its story. And its a bit of a naggy story. And poor sales for england in poor ticket sales for england in rugby union. Theyre saying about well theyre saying about 2500 Still Available for 2500 tickets Still Available for the fiji game, but its the england fiji game, but its being played in marseille now. Theres easy to go, theres its very easy to go, oh, england havent been very good actually wants to good to nobody actually wants to good to nobody actually wants to go see them. Situation, go and see them. This situation, lets honest, my sail is lets be honest, my sail is right down in the south of france. Its a long journey playing fiji. Is that going to be tie that were be the glamour tie that were looking to . With looking fonnard to . With respect, think so. If it respect, i dont think so. If it had been new zealand, if it had been south africa, it had had been new zealand, if it had been wales, l\frica, it had had been new zealand, if it had been wales, then , it had had been new zealand, if it had been wales, then there had had been new zealand, if it had been wales, then there would have been more ticket sales. And if had further up north if it had been further up north as i dont know how the as well, i dont know how the bedbugs, i was just, you know. Do you think thats what it is . Every sort of yeah. Every time i sort of think, oh, love to go and think, oh, id love to go and see that or itd be great if we get into the final. Youre a hardy rugby fan, arent you . The atmosphere. You know, my husbands hes mad for husbands welsh, so hes mad for it. It bedbugs. It. Yeah. Yeah. But it bedbugs. Know thats affecting i know thats affecting ticket the ticket sales, but maybe the answer is, is you go there and watch the game. You just dont sleep, you just keep away sleep, you know, just keep away from them. Book a hotel. Dont dont book a hotel. Dont book a hotel. Awake night. Book a hotel. Awake all night. Stay trip it. Stay awake. Day trip it. Thats on thats on anyway, thats on thats on sunday. So weve got some sunday. So i mean weve got some great semi says great semi finals says france south which sunday south africa which is sunday ireland new zealand that would be good match to i mean be a good match to be i mean thats be no problem thats therell be no problem with sales no, with ticket sales there. No, none all. Theres still none at all. Wales theres still a Tickets Available but a few Tickets Available but because thats against because thats thats against argentina the argentina on saturday by the time semi finals. Time we get to the semi finals. Sure touch wood england get sure id touch wood england get through to the semi finals which i extremely concerned about through to the semi finals which i i extremely concerned about through to the semi finals which i i think mely concerned about through to the semi finals which i i think most concerned about through to the semi finals which i i think most englished about through to the semi finals which i i think most english fansnout as i think most english fans are. Have to are. Then well just have to see. Its going to be see. But its going to be a great weekend of rugby. They their fans there, they need their fans there, of course. Of course. Ive got one more for as you know, we for you as well. You know, we did a dog story yesterday. Yeah, ive got another ive got another story. Dog another dog story. We had a dog that playing football in that was playing football in mexico. Is lovely. Now mexico. Now, this is lovely. Now this something would love this is something i would love to see this done in this country. You know, you country. You know, when you get the out with the teams come out with the mascots. The teams come out with the ma yeah, kids. Yeah, the kids. Yeah, the kids. The come out. Now what the kids come out. Now what theyve done now have a look at this. This is in fortaleza this. Now this is in fortaleza in brazil. They have dog mascots, now the dogs are mascots, and now the dogs are all all dogs that need homes. So what done, its like the what theyve done, its like the dogs each one be dogs home. So each one will be brought player. This brought out by a player. This has donein brought out by a player. This has done in other countries has been done in other countries in well. So then in the world as well. So then people will see dogs and people will see the dogs and they say each of these dogs they will say each of these dogs need home. A little tricky one there. Dont what hes there. I dont know what hes going anything but then going to do. Anything but then it highlights the fact that it only highlights the fact that theres lots of that need theres lots of dogs that need adopted, those dogs adopted, but also those dogs are up for adoption then theyre up for adoption and then theyre pictures the screen and pictures come on the screen and then aftennards then people could go aftennards and know what . Would and say, you know what . I would love and say, you know what . I would lowno one complains about sports no one complains about sports washing talking washing when youre talking about the rights of doggies. Thats right. Not coming in its not coming out in defence of dogs. Its really. Can you imagine walking, though . Doggy did doodle. Well, this is what i was wondering. I was about to say i was found about on the pitch. I know. Can you . Very good. I know. Can you . Very good. Exactly. Well, there you go. So i dont know how i know what a lot of groundsmen are like these days, but its probably do it actually. Know, it good, actually. You know, its fertiliser, its very, very fertiliser, localised fertiliser on that there nothing worse though there was nothing worse though when though when you play football though and you skid on one. So i dont want that happen. So anyway, want that to happen. So anyway, its idea. Id love its a lovely idea. Id to love see it over here. Well see later. Thanks. Well see you later. Thanks. Somebody had to say it. Okay. Still come, more on those still to come, more on those bedbugs. Were going to take you through the front pages , first through the front pages, first of all, now, as we go into our pay per of all, now, as we go into our pay per view, starting with the daily mail and its leading with the full horror of israels 911 as hamas gunmen or indeed terrorists. Terrorists. And thats the video will be coming to you later in the pay review. But in the mirror, keir starmer yesterday offered the nafion starmer yesterday offered the nation hope for the future as he vowed the damage caused vowed to undo the damage caused by misrule. By tory misrule. Finally , the sun theyre and finally, the sun theyre going with this morning. Were going with this morning. Were not to show you the front not able to show you the front pages, to take pages, so you just have to take my for it. They are my word for it. They are reporting on how stepped reporting on how she stepped down after 14 down from the show after 14 years. Okay, lets go through the papers. Join this morning by dawn neesom andy jones taking us through them. And andy, weve just speaking to bridget just been speaking to Bridget Phillipson, whos her phillipson, whos making her speech liverpool today. Speech up in liverpool today. And also started by and we also started by reflecting really on sir Keir Starmers sparkling performance , courtesy of all the glitter yesterday. What is the mirror yesterday. What is the mirror making of it all . Course a left leaning paper. Yeah. So it was a glittering yeah. So it was a glittering speech. Not quite in the way he wanted, but lets get to the guts it, because heard guts of it, because weve heard all talking all about that. Hes talking about decade of renewal. Its about a decade of renewal. Its going take of going to take a decade of renewal to write britain on a on a axis. Hes got to get a proper axis. Hes got to get him once before he gets again him once before he gets in again and for decade. But and again for that decade. But he end the stranglehold he wants to end the stranglehold of he wants to of tory decline. He wants to build 1. 5 million so that build 1. 5 million homes. So that is basically five Milton Keynes worth of homes. Were not quite sure where hes going to build those or how hes talking about the grey belt removal of the green green green belt. This isnt the green belt lush , wonderful belt of our lush, wonderful outdoor its the sort of outdoor spaces. Its the sort of grey wastelands where were not building anything on it. Why building anything on it. And why we to reduce the amount of we need to reduce the amount of red tape to build on these things. And this is something that a lot the parties have that a lot of the parties have discussed, just the labour that a lot of the parties have discus he , just the labour that a lot of the parties have discus he also just the labour that a lot of the parties have discus he also wantsre labour that a lot of the parties have discus he also wantsre icutyur that a lot of the parties have discus he also wantsre icut the party. He also wants to cut the 8 scramble gp 8 am. Scramble for gp appointment. Again, we appointment. Once again, we dont necessarily hear how, but i something we i think its something that we all he wants all agree with. And he wants a publicly owned energy, publicly owned gp energy, an alternative to some of the public, the privately owned Energy Companies which have been ringing in our Bank Accounts dry over few years and well over the last few years and well , thats those are the top headunes , thats those are the top headlines on it. I wonder if its necessarily the policy is on how are you going to do it 1. 5 million homes. Great wall hack. Well, thats kind of the point. Grant shapps was making when we spoke to the defence secretary. Used to be one of secretary. It used to be one of his many portfolios, a few portfolios sort of pouring portfolios ago, sort of pouring cold especially cold water on it. And especially as very much in favour cold water on it. And especially as devolution. I much in favour cold water on it. And especially as devolution. Well h in favour cold water on it. And especially as devolution. Well we] favour cold water on it. And especially as devolution. Well we] favorat of devolution. Well we know at local level how much people oppose housing oppose having new Housing Developments on developments built on their on their and those their backyards and all those sorts of say well. Their backyards and all those sonwef say well. Their backyards and all those sonwe were well. Their backyards and all those sonwe were promised in advance we were promised in advance of dawn policy of this conference dawn policy rich detail and actually new homes. They we knew about that a few weeks ago and improving the nhs. We always hear about that. Nhs. We always hear about that. Did we actually hear anything that new from keir starmer . That new from keir starmer . Because there was lots of rhetoric, lots of swelling up of the chest, lots of glitter. But did we actually get any detail . Well, i think the problem youve always with a party youve always got with a Party Conferences from all parties is they are very sketchy on the detail. And, you know, i mean , detail. And, you know, i mean, keir was talking a good talk. You know, working people, respected prosecutor, had respected crime prosecutor, had ambulances wage ambulances come minimum wage enforce infrastructure gets built. It all enforce infrastructure gets built. It all sounds great. I mean, no ones going to say, no, we dont want any of that stuff. No, i mean, there was no, stop. But i mean, there was no was no detail. And the no there was no detail. And the devil is always in the detail. And was saying, and as andrew was just saying, this like, know, the this sort of like, you know, the building the Million Building of the 1. 5 million homes, it . Yeah. Well, homes, was it . Yeah, yeah. Well, i mean, didnt Boris Johnson go on about scrapping the planning laws building more homes . Laws and building more homes . And everyones been and i feel like everyones been saying since time immemorial saying it since time immemorial and no one actually seems to get it done. It done. I its really i think its really interesting that theyre sort of almost afraid to announce new policies because their is policies because their lead is so in the polls. They so strong in the polls. They just dont want to open themselves up for any thing. Its of like steady she its kind of like steady as she goes, as they can keep goes, as long as they can keep quiet working. And quiet because its working. And the one policy that they have announced, you announced, which is this, you know, sort of attack on private schools, as conservatives schools, as the conservatives see theyve already had to see it, theyve already had to u turn charitable status u turn on the charitable status and certainly look from this blue wall that they are trying to reach out to, thats not going to go down with them. To reach out to, thats not goiitsto go down with them. To reach out to, thats not goiits not down with them. To reach out to, thats not goiits not worthr with them. To reach out to, thats not goiits not worth it with them. To reach out to, thats not goiits not worth it. With them. So its not worth it. No, i think youre right. I think theyre scared of announcing because announcing actual policy because they dont need to they need to they dont need to lose them votes. And plus, the other will probably nick it. Yeah. And do you know the toll gate of this grey land. Guess where that was originally put into manifest though. Which party and what year. Put into manifest though. Which party and what year. 2015 ukip. Party and what year. 2015 ukip. Oh ukip have been saying this for years. Ukip been saying no because they dont want to go after the green vote because theyre going to lose votes to nimbys. So lets scramble around and this land. This is and find all this land. This is the ukip the recycled and reheated ukip policy so again, policy from starmer. So again, you country to you know, the country seems to be for change, no real be ready for change, but no real meat bone quite. Meat on the bone quite. I agree that. But also in a conference youre never going to get all of the micro detail across because othennise its just going be impending just going to be impending trouble. But looking trouble. Right. But looking back from speech, was from rishis speech, what was it, ten ago, a week ago , it, ten days ago, a week ago, the only things i can remember off top of my head is the off the top of my head is the smoking hs2. So smoking stuff and hs2. So i think got a bit more think starmers got a bit more meat the bones than rishi speech. Didnt get his wife to introduce him though. No, no, no. But he got glitter. Come on. Yeah he had his own version leader now. An intro. Should have an intro. Should have an intro. Were look at a were going to look at a viral now. And this one is viral video now. And this one is nonnich football club. Nonnich city. Say. Theyve city. I should say. Theyve launched, frankly , a very launched, frankly, a very powerful video, all to mark world health day. And we can take look. Oh, wow. How take a little look. Oh, wow. How are you doing . Are you good . Oh, its all right. Thank you. How are you doing . God, its exciting , isnt. As god, its exciting, isnt. As nice as the week. Nice as the week. Okay. Yeah yeah. Everythings okay. Yeah yeah. Everythings better outside of football. Better outside of football. I. Oh, wow. Thats incredibly, very poignant video. Just for the benefit of those who couldnt see that on radio, there were two football fans at there were two football fans at the carrow road nonnichs ground celebrating. One of them was, on celebrating. One of them was, on the surface, very, very happy and vivacious, and bubbly and vivacious, getting match. Getting stuck into the match. And one quite and the other one was quite grumpy. And then at the end they won the fans had won the one of the fans had taken his own life. And when you cut who was it was the cut to who was there, it was the happy that had gone. Happy guy that had gone. And i guess message, andy, from guess the message, andy, from this is on World Mental Health day, you know, what you see on the surface isnt whats going on inside a lot of men in on inside and a lot of men in particular overcome particular kind of overcome pulsate the bravado. But pulsate with the bravado. But the be very different the truth can be very different inside. Inside. Yeah, always reported on yeah, ive always reported on on suicide cases and its very often its we had absolutely no idea and thats public figures and individuals and thats private individuals and thats private individuals and from this and the message from this campaign speak to people. And campaign is speak to people. And it is as if you havent spoke to your friend. Get in touch with them, them text, bring them, send them a text, bring them. Its family members. Get in send text, ring in touch, send them a text, ring them. And that them. Its reach out. And that conversation that simple. How conversation is that simple. How are you, that five minute phone call just voice note call or even just a voice note can impact to can make a huge impact to somebody. Makes me emotional, actually. I. I. Watched yesterday and i watched it yesterday and i couldnt stop watching it. I go to football every week and so many men there will will many of the men there will will spend like half an hour discussing intricacies of discussing the intricacies of var ask them var decision. But you ask them how they are and its like, im fine. They just talk about fine. They just dont talk about it. And sort of like i think men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women. And the suicide rate is halved for women since 1981, but only gone down its the biggest gone down 17. Its the biggest killer for young men in this country. So i think its so important for nonnich to put this video out there and hopefully men get the message. Yeah, start talking. Its not all about var decisions. Yeah well done. City. Absolutely we nonnich city. Absolutely we were talking about bedbugs with paul coyte a little bit earlier on. And oh my goodness on dawn. And oh my goodness i think hes gone. I was gonna say, does paul have a particular problem with this one. Well he was itching the last few but all few days, but in all seriousness, there sort seriousness, there was some sort of footage now of of picture and footage now of these being spotted on the london underground, but theyre tiny weeny like ladybirds to me. Convinced theyre im not convinced theyre horrible. Horrible. This is. Have you got them as well then . Ive got ants in my pants. Ive got ants in my pants. Right. Okay. Yeah. Right. Okay. Yeah. Already on your pants. Were already on your pants. Marvellous. This is. Its been in papers for quite a few in the papers for quite a few days but page five of the days now, but page five of the daily has done big story daily mail has done a big story about are invading about it, and these are invading from france and they theres, theres, theres horrific pictures from the streets of marseille where people are just chucking out mattress onto marseille where people are just chu streets ut mattress onto marseille where people are just chu streets because nattress onto marseille where people are just chu streets because theress onto the streets because the infection so high, high. And infection is so high, high. And they now spread across the they have now spread across the channel and are and channel and they are here and they london they are on the london underground. And you know, theres a 65 increase in theres been a 65 increase in bedbug infestation for the year. September and theyre really, really hard to get get rid of. And luton actually is the Bedbug Central of the uk at the moment. Now quite why theyre all going to luton i have no idea. But they are actually on now most of they are actually on now most of the time they want to worry people. Most the time a buyer people. Most of the time a buyer is youre going to is harmless. Youre going to get bit etcetera, bit red bit itchy, etcetera, etcetera. But you can have an allergic reaction you can allergic reaction like you can to or a but to a bee sting or a wasp. But theyre incredibly difficult to get out. The main problem. Thats the main problem. Thats the main problem. The its not so much the irritation they cause, its just that years get that it can be years if you get literally, if you get them in your house, you have to the your house, you have to have the whole house fumigate. That not. And even that might not. And even that might not. Yeah, whole house has to yeah, the whole house has to be yeah. Be dismantled. Yeah. Horrible footage be dismantled. Yeah. Screen horrible footage be dismantled. Yeah. Screen bedbugsle footage be dismantled. Yeah. Screen bedbugs on ootage be dismantled. Yeah. Screen bedbugs on public on screen of bedbugs on public transport. Interesting about luton because theres a huge conversation, tv star in conversation, a tv star in france whos been cancelled because he said theyre coming from the third world. Theyre coming people from luton, coming on people from luton, obviously an airport obviously being an airport terminal. There could be something other. Its actually something other. Its actually because the world is warmer because of the world is warmer and theyre prospering and breeding and they just happen to be hitching a lift on people. Eurostar next thing they know, theyre on the underground. Next thing they know theyre your thing they know theyre on your paul leg. Next thing you paul coyte leg. Next thing you know, theyre your know, theyre theyre in your hands. An antique bed for my daughter. Into daughter. Weve moved house into a house, i wanted a really old house, so i wanted to that of fitted to get a bed that kind of fitted and with a mattress. And and it came with a mattress. And so put mattress in. And so i put the mattress in. And suddenly, i was driving in suddenly, as i was driving in this listening this morning and i was listening to suddenly thought, to it, i suddenly thought, i mean, weve had it a few months now bites. But did now and no bites. But i did think know, second think maybe, you know, second hand arent really think maybe, you know, second han nice. Arent really that nice. They are. They are actually hotspot. The interesting thing is we lastly got of bedbugs after lastly got rid of bedbugs after the world war using the Second World War by using a chemical. This new bedbugs chemical. But this new bedbugs are to chemical. Are resistant to that chemical. And this is why theyre so and so this is why theyre so hard to get rid of. And also was a horrifying scenes in paris of people chucking out all of their furniture, all their matches, people chucking out all of their fur|oere, all their matches, people chucking out all of their fur|oere, a bedstheir matches, people chucking out all of their fur|oere, a bedstheir whole es, all of their beds and whole streets with peoples streets blocked up with peoples furniture chucking out. Very glamorous for paris. Theyve had fashion theyve just had paris fashion week. The world cup week. Theyve got the world cup going on and all eyes of the going on and all the eyes of the world france. World on france. Oh, god, im so grim. Oh, god, im so grim. Oh, god, im so grim. Well, that french airport is set fire to them all and get rid of andy moving on to this of them. Andy moving on to this story, what is going on at a posh restaurant with chicken pies, whats this, pies, including whats this, a head . Head . And have you got the image of this . Of this. This . Theres an image of this. Its a its a chicken. Its a posh chicken restaurant called le grand coq. £22 for a pie. And le grand coq. £22 for a pie. And its filled with chicken hearts, livers and all sorts of bits. But like the scene of but rather like the scene of alien in Sigourney Weaver film. I have a look see if can i have a look and see if i hold it up . Coming out of i can hold it up . Coming out of the show, the pictures today, which camera would you like that . Oh, weve to try not to oh, weve got to try not to the way round. The wrong way round. Go. There go. There we go. There you go. There we go. There you go. Here weve got here we go. Weve got a little head coming out of that, which camera would like, which camera would you like, megan . In megan . You want anyone in particular, right . Can there just down. You can see. There you can get chicken on a you go. You can get chicken on a stick with a with a leg sticking out it. Out of it. Seems. It seems very, very it seems. It seems very, very gimmicky, very grotesque. Im all be clear, all for. No, just to be clear, this head plucked out. This head is plucked out. So its sort of a fleshy. So its sort of a fleshy. You just have you know how you just have the on it . Pie aerators . The beak on it . Pie aerators . Thats right. The open beat. Thats right. The open beat. Thats yeah, thats right. The open beat. Blackbird. Thats yeah, the blackbird. Rather than a black bird, but rather than a black bird, a black bird beak out of a black bird beak made out of pottery, a real chicken pottery, its a real chicken said come in out of of the said come in out of the of the pie open. It looks horrible. This this cost you £22 by the way. Its a london pop up restaurant and the thing is, this popping up in their defence, they are saying that were using all parts of the bird so theres no waste. So its actually quite an environmentally friendly that are they theyll take that out of their pie and put it on the side. I dont accept that argument. Were using it all know youre going to stick that in the bins. They also they also do a kebab thing with ozzy osborne in it. They also do yeah, they also do a drumstick with the foot still on it. So you get the foot as well. So you get the foot as well. And you can even get a creme caramel chicken top caramel with chicken fat on top of which a bit extra to me. Have you ever eaten chicken feet . Yes. Its not for me. Yes. Its not for me. I have. Yes. Its not for me. I have. Ive yes. Its not for me. I have. Ive gnawed yes. Its not for me. I have. Hamas behaviour and you talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. That has no being beheaded. That has no place in the 21st century. That is at a different and completely different moral scale to a country defending itself. Country defending itself. And in the last few moments, weve been hearing that the Israeli Military have claimed hundreds of thousands of troops are massing near the gaza border and israel is now expected to launch a ground offensive on the gaza strip very soon. The eu Foreign Policy chief saying that he opposed the blockade of gaza. Israel has the right to defend it, but it has to be done accordingly with International Law, humanitarian law and some decisions are contrary. This is the International Law. The the International Law. The palestinian authorities , our palestinian authorities, our partner, we dont deal with hamas. But yes, we support and we deal and we Work Together with the Palestinian Authority. With the Palestinian Authority. And not all the Palestinian People are terrorists. So people are terrorists. So a collective punishment against all palestinians will be unfair and unproductive. Well early we and unproductive. Well early we spoke to defence secretary grant shapps started by asking how concerned he is about the Palestinian Civilians involved in the war. Hamas behaviour here. And we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered , people being bodies butchered, people being bodies being beheaded. And i dont think there should be any question of trying to make sort of moral equivalence between israel trying to defend itself and the way that hamas have gone around and butchering people. And people. And well, the uk and the United States have offered their full support to israel to try and contain hamas. The first planeload of ammunition from america has landed in israel and we can get an update from our gb News Reporter Charlie Peters, whos in tel aviv. And weve been hearing about troops massing on the border with gaza over the last few days. The idf talking about armoured soldiers, artillery corps, 300,000 or so reservists. Its close to the reservists. Its close to the border. Have we reservists. Its close to the border. Have we had it reservists. Its close to the border. Have we had it confirmed border. Have we had it confirmed yet that there will be this land invasion in which for so many years the authorities have really been trying to avoid . And really been trying to avoid . And does that increase the pressure to try and create some sort of humanity korean corridor for civilians in that very tiny strip of land . Strip of land . Well, talk of a Ground Invasion into gaza by the idf is now extremely common. It is expected its highly likely in the next 24 to 48 hours. As you said, over 300,000 idf reservists activated in the last three days, many of them flying in from overseas. We have seen convoys of heavy armour, light armour , air defence assets all armour, air defence assets all moving south, all typical shaping activity for what is likely to be the Decisive Action in the next phase of this complex war. Here in tel aviv, though, this is the relative shelter for israelis fleeing the devastation in southern israel, but also rocket attacks further north behind me, the skyscrapers of ashdod were targeted by rocket attack yesterday. Many of rocket attack yesterday. Many of those rockets landed successfully and some even came as far as tel aviv, where we are, where the air raid sirens went into activation a few times and people took shelter. What are they escaping . Well, there, escaping the butchery of Hamas Terrorists in the south. The stories of , as you have referred stories of, as you have referred to, are truly horrifying. They to, are truly horrifying. They have described it as isis style butchery and a level of violence, really unprecedented for the region. Now, earlier for the region. Now, earlier last night, i spoke with danielle, who fled from her kibbutz in southern israel on saturday. Did you see anything in the street when you drove through . Did you see bodies and. Yeah , mostly bodies. Some of yeah, mostly bodies. Some of them were burned, so we didnt recognise people. Some of them were terrorists bodies. Later on were terrorists bodies. Later on i found out that i have a few of my friends in the party in the rave that was raging at that morning. Some of them were morning. Some of them were kidnapped, some of them were raped and taken under hostage to the gaza strip. It was really horrible. Horrible. Well, us armaments arrived in israel last night as the Israeli Armed forces prepare for that likely ground assault into gaza. Civilians are heading north, but the military, it seems, the only direction for them is south. Charlie, thanks very much indeed. Lets speak now to freelance journalist yotam confino. Good morning to you. Thanks for joining us. The reports coming out of the aftermath of what happened when hamas came in on saturday are now emerging. This saturday are now emerging. This is not a war. Its genocide. The is not a war. Its genocide. The idf are saying talking about those massacres, including babies and children, found dead. Whats the mood on the ground there now in the aftermath of this atrocity . This atrocity . Shocked and anger , i would shocked and anger, i would say. Im not sure if people are so shocked about what hamas is capable of. We do know that they were were behind suicide attacks in tel aviv during the second intifada, but still, there is theres something about the beheading and the babies that just makes it puts it into a different category. And like Prime Minister netanyahu said , Prime Minister netanyahu said, like us President Joe Biden says theyre comparing it to daesh, to Islamic State. I would have to Islamic State. I would have to mention the numbers that a lot of media are going with right now for the babies, which came from one report from an israeli tv channel. I reached out to the military to ask them to verify this number because ive seen it everywhere. Now its spreading like wildfire. And they say we cannot and i says we cannot confirm that number. What we can confirm is that elderly women and toddlers were massacred in an Islamic State style. And we know what state style. And we know what that means. And i also have that means. And i also have spoken to someone whose husband is right now there, and he is with his own eyes, seeing the beheadings. But as far as the beheadings. But as far as the number goes, its important that we remember to verify the information to get it correct out because we are being flood with information during this war. Ive never seen anything like it. Yeah joe, a really, really important point to make. And we obviously also havent been able to independently verify that. But certainly reuters were quoting the israeli Major General tavarov, who was reporting seeing babies, mothers, parents in their bedrooms, many of them having been involved in the massacre and describing the mode of death as being brutal , as you say, as being brutal, as you say, like isis style decapitations and the like. But the numbers of and the like. But the numbers of those involved , highly emotive, those involved, highly emotive, has the potential to be inflammatory. And its really important that all of this is very carefully detailed and reported. So thank you for stressing that. Nevertheless i mean, we did speak to our defence secretary about the reports that weve been hearing coming out of these kibbutz, and he that there absolutely he says that there is absolutely no equivocation on any of no moral equivocation on any of this equivalence to this or moral equivalence to whats been going on in gaza. No whats been going on in gaza. No absolutely not. You cant compare the atrocities committed around the gaza border communities by hamas and what israel is trying to do. If it was up to israel to a point well, probably to point 1 million gazans would leave gaza. They would leave gaza just in one big cage with islamic and jihad. And then they will then they would eradicate that israel doesnt have an interest in slaughtering civilians. In fact, its very, very bad for israel every time civilians are killed in gaza, israel is blamed, and rightfully so, because sometimes they are killed and they arent being taken. They arent being taken proper precautions. At least thats the criticism that they get. So israel has no interest in this. Its a very, very bad image for israel thats coming out from gaza right now with flattened neighbourhood goods. But again, israel right now says we have to defend ourselves. This was an abnormal atrocity committed against us and we have to defend ourselves now. Okay, joe, time. It seems now going from the defensive on to the offensive if were to believe reports of the mass gathering of israeli troops near the gaza border ready to execute the gaza border ready to execute the mission we have been given , the mission we have been given, and how does that play out . Youre in tel aviv now. The youre in tel aviv now. The prospect of boots on the ground, a large scale invasion , an looks a large scale invasion, an looks likely. This is taking things to the next stage now, isnt it . Absolutely. And the kind absolutely. And the kind woman that lives next to me who opens her shelter for me every time the rockets fired her son was, for example, drafted. I think most people in israel know somebody whos been drafted are the sons, brothers, friends , all the sons, brothers, friends, all young, capable men are now drafted and they are ready. And we all know what that means. It means that we will likely see a Ground Invasion, but its something that has to be agreed upon the security cabinet. Something that has to be agreed uporalso he security cabinet. Something that has to be agreed uporalso rightcurity cabinet. Something that has to be agreed uporalso right now, cabinet. Something that has to be agreed uporalso right now, cthave and also right now, we have a whole political turmoil with prime netanyahu trying whole political turmoil with pri reach netanyahu trying whole political turmoil with pri reach to netanyahu trying whole political turmoil with pri reach to establish|yahu trying whole political turmoil with pri reach to establish aihu trying whole political turmoil with pri reach to establish a unity ing to reach to establish a unity emergency government with some of the more centrist parties in israel, some of whom have former defence minister and former idf generals in them, instead of having just his own coalition with a lot of people who never served a day in the army, who are extreme, deeply racist and extreme right wing and national mystic. So hes trying to have more of like a broad and responsible National Emergency government. And its something that hes been criticised harshly for not being able to establish until now. We are more were on day five now. This should have happened within 24 hours. Hes being attacked for playing politics here. So its a really, really bad situation on that front also. Yeah, absolutely. And the eyes of the world on it with the eu. And indeed, President Biden reminding funding israel of its duty to operate within the confines of International Law, which of course is hugely difficult when were talking about a place where you can hardly separate out terrorists from civilians. An ongoing nightmare situation. Jo confino, thank you very much indeed for bringing us up to date this morning. And here there are worries the conflict could lead to a rise of anti semitism in the uk i yes, jewish schools have had to increase security and communities are supporting one another they to hear if another as they wait to hear if Friends Family have been friends and family have been caught up in the tragedy. Gb News Reporter lisa hartle has more. More. There are concerns of a rise in anti semitism in the uk since hamas launched its attack on israel. Community Security Trust is a charity that arranges security personnel for jewish schools across the nation. Ceo Mark Gardiner says security was already extremely tight, but more measures are being put in place. Place. We have real proper fencing, we have the school built a long way back from the road in case of a car bomb. You have protective film on the windows, you have cctvs that feed into our own 24 seven control centre. You have infrared mechanisms that detect any movement breaking through perimeters. You have guards on the site, but whatever else we can add on top, we will do so. Theres certainly an increase in the regularity of Police Patrols past jewish schools and past places , reduced schools and past places, reduced schools and past places, reduced School Children wait for buses and come to trains, etcetera, etcetera. And there are some etcetera. And there are some schools where they will now be a Police Presence at opening and closing times. Closing times. Since the conflict began this weekend , jewish communities weekend, jewish communities across london have been supporting each other as people wait to hear for news of their loved ones. Eric elbaz has cousins serving in the Israeli Military. My cousin who sends me regular texts , he said. Im regular texts, he said. Im happy to share my information. He goes , my childhood friend he goes, my childhood friend amit and his brother were killed in Nazeef Hassan , the son of our in Nazeef Hassan, the son of our good friend and neighbour, was killed as a combat fighter in the battle in kissoff, where my son is now with his team , a son is now with his team, a sister of one of my soldiers from team oz who was seriously injured in lebanon. Her husband , little girl were murdered in their home in kafr , which is their home in kafr, which is a kibbutz in gaza. So he keeps sending me updates. But its a sending me updates. But its a true reflection on of whats going on firsthand. You do feel going on firsthand. You do feel on high alert because there are things that are going on on our doorstep. And a friend of mine who was walking home from synagogue was spat at by a just a random person. I myself, synagogue was spat at by a just a random person. I myself , when a random person. I myself, when i was walking from synagogue and i was walking from synagogue and i was walking from synagogue and i was crossing the road , a car i was crossing the road, a car opened their window and shouted obscenities about jews. So it is obscenities about jews. So it is it is on our doorstep. Rabbi meir schindler says the Jewish Community in north london is feeling helpless. Yeah, there may be great distance, but in terms of our hearts, were very close and you know, as. Just simply to find know, as. Just simply to find something that we can do, whether it to be to donate to a good cause, Emergency Services, voluntary services, there suppues voluntary services, there supplies to soldiers , the supplies to soldiers, the reservists whove been called up without , you know, without any without, you know, without any sort of preparation an and just theres not enough food and dnnk theres not enough food and drink for them. Soto theres not enough food and drink for them. So to donate to drink for them. Soto donate to those causes and to pray thats really as much as we could do with the conflict escalating. More civilians on both sides are losing their lives whilst communities in the uk pray that their loved ones survive. Lisa their loved ones survive. Lisa hartle gb news london on a diet and sir keir starmer took to the stage to pitch for power yesterday, joined the Labour Party Conference with a protester covering the Opposition Leader with glitter ahead of his speech , starmer ahead of his speech, starmer promised a decade of renewal under labour and said he aims to create a britain that built create a britain that is built to last. Joining is our deputy joining us now is our deputy political editor, tom hannood. Joining us now is our deputy polit goinintor, tom hannood. Joining us now is our deputy polit going strongwm hannood. Joining us now is our deputy polit going strong uphannood. Joining us now is our deputy polit going strong up innnood. Still going strong up in liverpool. Tom, it feels like Conference Season is so nearly oven Conference Season is so nearly over. Last day, i think today just give us a sense of what we can expect and what the mood is following on from the leaders speech yesterday. Speech yesterday. Isabel i have to say the mood was pretty jubilant last night. The labour party putting out emails to its supporters saying the words sparkle with starmer. The words sparkle with starmer. Theyre really leaning into the glitter now. I saw keir starmer last night at one of the evening events that go on at this conference and he also made light of the fact saying he got himself glittered up specially for the evening. But clearly for the evening. But clearly what the labour party see is beyond the stunt that this is a labour party that is very different to the labour party. That was conductor of these conferences, just three or so years ago. Starmer made the years ago. Starmer made the allusion himself to the idea that the party is no longer a party of protest. Its a party prospective about power. Now and its a party now. Subject to protest rather than being the party that partakes in that protest, he says. Thats an indication of how much the party has changed. But i have to say, isabel, there are a few sore throats this morning after the mirror Party Karaoke last night where labour Party Stalwarts from John Ashworth to lisa nandy wes streeting and others got up there on the stage to sing a utany there on the stage to sing a litany of hits, not least Common People dreams. Things can only people dreams. Things can only get better and dont look back in anger as well with with lucy powell, the manchester mp getting really into the swing of things. I getting really into the swing of things. I have to say getting really into the swing of things. I have to say that we things. I have to say that we are looking fonnard to a couple of speeches this morning. Im not sure how wes streeting will handle his speech after some pretty enthusiastic dancing last night on the floor of that party. But hes speaking a little bit later today and just, you know, due impartiality and all that, just checking that you were partaking in some of these parties. And i know gb news also hosted some drinks at these conferences very conferences after our very successful last week in Successful Party last week in manchester for tory Party Conference. Just give us a flavour. Well, we hosted we hosted a drinks do just a couple of days ago that was fairly attended by was fairly well attended by labour here at in labour mps here good at in liverpool at the Labour Party Conference. But yes, of course i was on the dance floor last night so im not sure if you can hearit night so im not sure if you can hear it in my voice. I wonder if actually we can get this program to maybe play a clip or two of some of these of some of these sing bit later in sing songs a little bit later in the program. Well we can the program. Well see if we can sort out. But no, generally sort that out. But no, generally what weve seen a pretty what weve seen is a pretty jubilant here at the labour jubilant mood here at the Labour Party Conference. Like Party Conference. It feels like activists and indeed parliamentarians here have to pinch now and pinch themselves every now and again sure theyre again just to make sure theyre not too triumphal not getting too triumphal list ahead of they assume is ahead of what they assume is going a pretty sizeable going to be a pretty sizeable victory at next election. Victory at the next election. Challenge accepted. Tom we will to that on will endeavour to get that on before come off air in just before we come off air in just over time. And you over an hours time. And you know we endorse you know what . We endorse you dancing and singing till the small hours, because know that small hours, because i know that some absolutely critical journalistic scoops are acquired that way. Long may it continue. Thanks very much, tom. Thats where all the hard work gets done. Is it interesting how theyre still playing things to playing dream things going to get better . Of course, was get better . That, of course, was tony anthem. And tony blairs anthem. And actually, all about tony blairs anthem. And actually, peoplell about tony blairs anthem. And actually, people dontut tony blairs anthem. And actually, people dont look back common. People dont look back in britpop. Its in anger. Its the britpop. Its back to the 90s. They always go on. They always go on. Theyre playing the sound track to blair. Yeah, yeah, right now. Yeah. Well, its kind of a rerun, isnt it . And the parallels are interesting. I always find it quite an interesting angle to not just conferences, but elections music and the elections and the music and the involvement. We it a lot involvement. And we see it a lot involvement. And we see it a lot in states, and we see in the states, and then we see all artists coming out all the artists coming out going, whoa, whoa, whoa. I wasnt consulted. I dont want trump my music trump playing my music or whoever be. So i wonder whoever it might be. So i wonder if they had to consult people in order music at the conference. Its always thought they got the clearance, but not like the Rolling Stones want to Rolling Stones dont want to play rally. Play at a trump rally. There we go. Right. Well, there we go. Right. Lets attention and lets turn our attention and stay with entertainment matters this presenter holly this morning. Presenter Holly Willoughby as well. Were reflecting she reflecting on it after she sensationally quit the itv show after 14 years. Yeah, this comes after a man was charged with soliciting to commit murder over an alleged plot to kidnap the star. Yeah, well, she is, of course, a mother of three. She took to social media to express her sorrow about leaving the show, said the show, but said that the difficult been difficult decision had been made for her her family. For her and for her family. And were joined the and were joined now in the studio by Showbiz Reporter steph takyi. This decision takyi. So, steph, this decision , its felt like its been coming for while. Was this inevitable . It was, martin unfortunately, you know, hollys really tried to persevere through the last yean to persevere through the last year, through the q gate scandal, the Phillip Schofield scandal. She really wanted to be at the forefront of the new chapter for this morning and unfortunate last weeks incident seems like it was the final straw for her. She is a mother of three and it is family first for her as the public. We dont know the full details of this horrific alleged kidnap plot, but she does. And from what she knows about it, her and her family have been left absolutely petrified. As you can know, working in Live Television, you cannot be put in a front that everythings okay. If you know at the back of your mind, this is what could have happened to you, you and your family. So she is putting her safety first. Its not the end of the road for her and itv. Its just the end of the road with her. And this morning, i do feel she will come back and work on other shows. But i dont see holly doing Live Television soon. Its really interesting because, in terms because, you know, just in terms of brand stepping away of hollys brand stepping away at the point that Phillip Schofield left under a bit of a cloud of scandal , lets be cloud of scandal, lets be honest, wouldnt have done her any good because in some ways shed be implicated. So shed be implicated. And so although this clearly although this is clearly a highly traumatic, the allegations of a kidnap plot in some ways, do you think it might have given her an opportunity to part ways from a show when she might have been feeling like, you know, her time was done anyway . Definitely. Anyway . Yeah, definitely. The show for 14 shes been on the show for 14 years. I think for both holly and they didnt envision and phil, they didnt envision leaving show this way. Leaving the show in this way. The viewers been waning the viewers has been waning people. Lost popularity people. Its lost popularity with. But i think for with people. But i think for holly, did not want holly, she did not want to leave. Philip left, she leave. When philip left, she wanted on going. And wanted to keep on going. And theres light that itv bosses theres no light that itv bosses want to change the show and change it into something different. January was when they were going to relaunch it into something with holly and something new with holly and maybe shephard her maybe ben shephard as her co presenter. Now itv bosses co presenter. But now itv bosses are to have be looking are going to have to be looking for a new phil and a new holly. An interesting point. A its an interesting point. A few days ago, we were talking about top gear and the fact that what freddie what happened with Freddie Flintoff, just flintoff, that show just naturally end of the naturally reached the end of the road, to speak. Do you think road, so to speak. Do you think that show itself now is so that the show itself now is so tainted the scandals or the tainted by the scandals or the presenters it presenters that actually it needs thrown in the needs to be just thrown in the bin completely again bin and completely start again with fresh with a fresh slate . As eamonn has always said, or as eamonn has always said, its bigger, bigger than the hosts will on, as we say hosts and will go on, as we say in showbiz, must always in showbiz, the show must always go and you know, been there and you know, its been there for 35 years. So this morning as a brand go on. But i think a brand will go on. But i think with holly there, it was dwindling. Was losing dwindling. It was losing popularity. So now actually is a chance for itv bosses to create something new with hopefully with faces. Okay steph, with fresh faces. Okay steph, thanks very much indeed for that update. Update. Still to come, well be okay. Still to come, well be debating whether labour can lead the country to a better britain. But first, heres your. Weather welcome back. Thanks for your company. Its just gone 8 30. Were reflecting on labour conference. Its ongoing up north in liverpool. And yesterday big day for sir keir starmer. He promised a decade of renewal and National Renewal under what he says would be a government for the next, well, ten years. Hes hoping hes not only thinks hes going to win the next election, but the one after that. And he said he would build a generation of new towns and total of 1. 5 million and a total of 1. 5 million additional homes. And a total of 1. 5 million addition he 1omes. And a total of 1. 5 million additionhe also as. And a total of 1. 5 million additionhe also said that labour and he also said that labour will reform nhs, of course, will reform the nhs, of course, and recruit more police officers. Will we see officers. But will we see a better britain if starmer becomes our next Prime Minister . Well, joining now is deputy well, joining us now is Deputy Editor conservative home, editor of conservative home, henry who says labour will henry hill, who says labour will destroy britain and the former editor at the labour list, peter edwards, who says will edwards, who says labour will make britain great again. Good morning to you both. Ill start with you, peter, if i could, and a comment here has come in from dave who says this even covered in sir keir starmer in glitter, sir keir starmer couldnt light up the strictly dance floor on a saturday night. So despite all the razzmatazz , so despite all the razzmatazz, quite a few people still unconvinced by sir keir starmer. Well, i wouldnt say im convinced at all, and i dont think hell bothered about think hell be bothered about what looks like on the dance what he looks like on the dance floor. The whole point of keir starmer is after chaos and starmer is after the chaos and melodrama conservative melodrama of the conservative prime that hes not Prime Ministers that hes not bringing hes bringing razzmatazz, hes bringing razzmatazz, hes bringing that bringing substance and that house pledge you House Building pledge you alluded trying up alluded to of trying to get up to million over five years to 1. 5 million over five years is proof of that point. Is exactly proof of that point. Hes trying to be a serious Prime Minister and get elected and restore the trust of people in politics by getting stuff done. Do you think then those discussions about whether or not he is the man for the he is the right man for the party are kind of going away . Party are kind of going away . Because , sir keir because frankly, sir keir starmer is doing so well in the polls because there was a stage and a of people just, you and a lot of people just, you know, couldnt warm him. Know, couldnt warm to him. A lot of the unions didnt like him. And a lot of labour voters him. And a lot of labour voters just is he best we just saying, is he the best we can up with . But it sounds can come up with . But it sounds as debate is kind of as though that debate is kind of going away and people are happy with to be the labour with him to be the next labour Prime Minister they win the Prime Minister if they win the next election. Think that debate well, i think that debate went a long time ago. He went away a long time ago. He won leadership fairly easy, won the leadership fairly easy, easily. About easily. But if you think about it, hes looked at it in it, hes always looked at it in 2 or 3 stages of reforming the labour it for labour party, making it fit for government a stable government again, and a stable place to be a member holding the mirror up conservatives, mirror up to conservatives, showing doing showing what theyre doing wrong. More of what wrong. And then more of what we saw yesterday this week, saw yesterday and this week, which out what a which is setting out what a Labour Government would look like. Think well on like. So i think hes well on the and actually the the way and actually the atmosphere and ive been to, you know, 11, 12 labour know, ten, 11, 12 labour conferences, atmosphere was know, ten, 11, 12 labour conf different. Atmosphere was know, ten, 11, 12 labour conf different. It atmosphere was know, ten, 11, 12 labour conf different. It was jsphere was know, ten, 11, 12 labour conf different. It was busiere was very different. It was busier not members in a fairly not just members in a fairly good place, but also more journalists, more chief executive, lobbyists , executive, more lobbyists, because keir starmer as because they see keir starmer as a be prime a credible candidate to be Prime Minister and also that wasnt the case under the previous leader. Okay. Henry hill in the blue corner. Lets go over to you now. Starmer also had a pop at the conservative party saying that youve become a murky world of populism and concern. Rac of populism and concern. Rac what do you make of that . What do you make of that . Uh, i mean, its nonsense. Its this really weird need on parts of the and parts of all sides of british politics to pretend were the United States and the Republican Party in the United States and indeed american politics in general has got extremely ugly. And lot of got extremely ugly. And a lot of people watch too much people who watch too much west wing were younger, um, wing when they were younger, um, kind need to photoshop kind of need to photoshop themselves into that so, themselves into that battle. So, you rishi sunak at you know, rishi sunak speech at party was deeply Party Conference was was deeply uninspiring many but it uninspiring in many ways, but it was boring, technocratic was quite boring, technocratic speech. I was quite boring, technocratic speech. I just want to come back when we thing, i havent when we said thing, i havent said sir keir starmer will said that sir keir starmer will destroy anything like destroy britain or anything like that. They were going that. Think that they were going to have a very difficult in to have a very difficult time in office if they win office if they if they do win next year because as they are going extremely going to inherit an extremely difficult fiscal situation and that will be very difficult to manage. But havent that manage. But i havent said that theyll the theyll destroy destroy the country. Enough. Country. So fair enough. Thank for clarifying and thank you for clarifying that. I just want to push that. But i just want to push on, know, his sort of on, you know, his sort of appeal on, you know, his sort of appeal, suppose, to voters on appeal, i suppose, to voters on the right. But kind of centre right because , you know, you right because, you know, you talk about the american ization of but there are a lot of debate, but there are a lot of debate, but there are a lot of tory voters and i think of rory stewart posting last week about the tory Party Conference saying he almost felt as though it designed alienate the it was designed to alienate the last moderates in the last remaining moderates in the party. Certainly keir party. And certainly keir starmer was identifying those in his speech yesterday, wasnt he, and say , come and trying to say, look, come and trying to say, look, come and us, unprecedented and join us, which unprecedented really, this idea of labour stealing votes from from the blue wall. Well yeah. Well the well yeah. Well the conservatives have really built this rod for their own backs. If you look at the blue wall demographically, the average age thats sorry , the blue wall is thats sorry, the blue wall is a load of conservative seats in the south of england, which have been traditionally safe but are now risk. The analogue now at risk. Its the analogue of wall. The average age of the red wall. The average age in going down, in those seats is going down, despite fact that we live in despite the fact that we live in an ageing country because london has got so unaffordable that has got so unaffordable now that it voters it is radiating angry voters into those old shire heartlands. We saw canterbury go a few years ago and there are many other seats going that way and also the brexit debate, the fallout since brexit has seen a realignment and the same movement which has seen the conservative lose at least a few years ago, become more attractive working attractive to working class voters in some of the voters in some parts of the country has alienate country has seen it alienate middle voters in its middle class voters in its traditional heartlands, and that does up new opportunities does open up new opportunities for the labour party. The unfortunate for the unfortunate thing for the tories, is that by, tories, of course, is that by, you the over the you know, the chaos over the last years means that they last few years means that they now going an election now risk going into an election where neither side is happy with them. Know, have them. You know, they have alienated those class alienated those middle class voters, havent done voters, but they havent done enough those voters who enough to make those voters who back for the first time back them for the first time in 2019, them again. 2019, back them again. Henry hill, peter okay, henry hill, peter edwards, were going to have to leave it there. It seems the jury is still out on keir starmer. Thank you very much indeed. Lets through all sports lets go through all the sports news morning. Coity in house. Hello. Ive got a few things to get through. Ill get through them as quickly as possible. Firstly, euros. Think firstly, euros. I think we all know euros are now know that the euros are now coming 2028. They made the coming back. 2028. They made the announcement yesterday. Aleksander ceferin, who is the president uefa, has to do the president of uefa, has to do the announcement. And often you announcement. And often when you have situations , its like have these situations, its like with world you have with the world cup, you have lots so theyre all lots of bidders. So theyre all sitting the room waiting. Sitting in the room waiting. Its oscars and its its like the oscars and its like the oscars where only the winner is there because nobody else we were else turns up, because we were the only ones that were actually in for it. So it is announced that it going to be at uk and that it is going to be at uk and ireland 2028. Isnt an interesting isnt that an interesting point though . Bit point though . Its a bit like has tournament become has the euro tournament become a bit elephant . Nobody bit of a White Elephant . Nobody really it. It costs a really wants it. It costs a fortune to put on you. Dont get your money back and all the other countries have just dropped so have just dropped out. So have we just inherited because no other inherited this because no other one wants said i mean one country wants said i mean without chatting with my Liam Halligan hat on the £26 billion boost to the economy , he once it boost to the economy, he once it actually comes, how that is going to work, im not exactly sure how they work that out, but this is the. Yeah, thats just beer alone but but anyway, thats going to happen so you know its still great to have a tournament here. You know, we embrace sporting you know, we do embrace sporting occasions. I honestly believe this more than any other country in the world where weve had the athletics here, you know, you get the athletics world championships, its around championships, its been around the , very well the world, not very, very well attended. Have it here. Attended. We have it here. Everybodys there. Even bazball was here completely sold out. So its always great to have a sporting occasion. The Labour Party Conference, theyve things can theyve been singing things can only back only get better. Dont look back in Common People. Harry in anger. Common people. Harry kane out and i can kane is coming out and i can hear a decent rendition of its coming home beginning because hes england hes saying that england are going the tournament on going to win the tournament on home rid of the home soil to get rid of the ghosts 96 and 2021. What he ghosts of 96 and 2021. What he would say that, wouldnt he . He dont need a new song. The Mandy Rice Davies of hes the Mandy Rice Davies of the side. The england football side. I mean, thing is, is the mean, the thing is, he is the skipper, though, he going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say r, though, he going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say that, ugh, he going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say that, of1, he going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say that, of course1e going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say that, of course hes going mean, the thing is, he is the sk say that, of course hes not1g to say that, of course hes not going to go. So, harry, what do you think . Euro 28 . Well i think we may get knocked out in the group stage. Its not to group stage. Its not going to happen. Course, hes going happen. So of course, hes going to that. Weve got to say that. But weve got plenty of time. Um, this an plenty of time. Um, this is an interesting may be interesting one. The may be interested in uefa. The other thing had in are thing that they had in there are meetings or announcements is that announce that that they did announce that they are going allow russia to are not going to allow russia to play under 17 tournament, play in under 17 tournament, whereas that yes, whereas fifa said that the yes, they this was going to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, this was going to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, that this was going to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, that its was going to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, that its goodgoing to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, that its good for|g to whereas fifa said that the yes, theokay, that its good for the be okay, that its good for the future. Its nonsense. So finally, through pressure , finally, through pressure, through every other country, uefa the right. Okay. Uefa have made the right. Okay. Course, were to of course, were going to have to leave it there. Thank you. Cheers. Thank you. Have to leave it there. Thank youi cheers. Thank you. Have to leave it there. Thank youi justers. Thank you. Have to leave it there. Thank youi just want|ank you. Have to leave it there. Thank youi just want to k you. Have to leave it there. Thank youi just want to bring. Have to leave it there. Thank youi just want to bring you up i just want to bring you up to date on some breaking news that from the that were getting from the israel conflict. But this israel Hamas Conflict. But this time relation to lebanon in time in relation to lebanon in the few moments, weve been the last few moments, weve been heanng the last few moments, weve been hearing the reuters news hearing via the Reuters News Agency that Israeli Military have anti tank have experience massed anti tank fire one of their fire against one of their northern positions. Say northern positions. They say this come from lebanon. Now, this has come from lebanon. Now, of there have been of course, there have been concerns about the spread of this conflict into a wider regional crisis. Lebanon, of course , very much with hezbollah course, very much with hezbollah there and their sort of philosophic links to hamas and obviously links with iran as well. And could this indeed well. And could this indeed become something of a proxy war . There will be concern about these reports israeli these reports of Israeli Military me saying anti tank fire has been experienced against one of their northern positions, this time coming in from lebanon. Were keeping a close eye on all of the images. Youre seeing pictures there, though, gaza overnight though, of gaza and overnight and this morning, you can see the smoke billow going out there and the fire continues, has to be said on both sides and serious questions this morning from the eu and the president of the United States over night about what this means for civilians caught up in all of this. As i say, more later on the program on that. And still to come, according to a new study, the stress of renting a ages you quicker than being jobless. Thats next on headune well welcome back. And joining us to go through some of the days headlines now is journalist and broadcaster andy jones and former editor of the daily star and regular on this channel, fantastic dawn. Nice top of the morning to you. So going through the papers, andy, shall with a reflection shall we start with a reflection on of the manifest front on some of the manifest front pages today of the unfolding horror , the emerging horror of horror, the emerging horror of whats happening on the ground in israel . In israel . Yeah, you know, the videos , yeah, you know, the videos, the stories, the social media thats coming in is absolutely horrifying. Stories of beheaded children, people dying in their beds, 260 revellers killed at a festival that was happening in the desert, a peace festival thats happening on the gaza border. People in a kibbutz who are absolutely defenceless being killed. And again, this wasnt a political act by hamas. This wasnt a military action. This wasnt a military action. This was this was a desecration of innocent lives. This was an act of terror. And netanyahu, as has left no doubt at all about the pain for hamas , has only just pain for hamas, has only just begun. They will endure terrible things. And the people of things. And the people of palestine also caught in the middle, caught in the middle. There are 2 Million People under siege with dwindling food, fuel and supplies. And there and medical supplies. And there is talk in times as well is talk in the times as well about hamas leaders , about how hamas leaders, wherever they are, a lot of them arent even based in palestine, which is quite bizarre which is quite a bizarre thing. Already the kidnap of already regretting the kidnap of elderly women and children for the bad pr its caused hamas , the bad pr its caused hamas, which im not sure that that was any surprise to anyone, that they would get such bad. Pr yeah i okay. Well, lets turn our attention to other stories doing the rounds and this is inside the rounds and this is inside the mail. Dawn, youve chosen a Climate Change story and how it could actually end up ruining the taste of beer. This is actually the Climate Change story that makes everyone sit up and take notice. Get serious. Just me. Exactly that. Suddenly its a thing to martin serious now really all need to be doing much more about Climate Change. Is theres nothing like this is theres nothing like a cold beer on a warm day. But as Climate Change gathers pace , as Climate Change gathers pace, the temperatures as Climate Change gathers pace, the mean temperatures as Climate Change gathers pace, the mean your temperatures as Climate Change gathers pace, the mean your favouritetures as Climate Change gathers pace, the mean your favourite pilsner may mean your favourite Pilsner Lager or pale ale becomes more expensive less tasty. Expensive and less tasty. Why . Well, because the hops. Why . Well, because the hops. Because. Yeah, because its affecting the crops. I mean, beeris affecting the crops. I mean, beer is the worlds third most widely consumed beverage after water and tea. Yeah. Which i didnt know. Yeah. Thats just didnt know. Yeah. Thats just martin and the way. Martin and me, by the way. I didnt that at all and yeah didnt know that at all and yeah but the hop yield era is, is basically not doing well because of the climate. It and the yield of the climate. It and the yield is going down and the hops arent as tasty. But the good news is Climate Change is making wine growing. In the uk. It is even better. Yeah. And as a non beer drinking wine lover, this is one Climate Change story that doesnt worry me. Well, theres the other. Well, theres the other. Not all bad. Not all bad. Not all bad. Not that were obsessed with alcohol, but i think. Come on, sometimes we need a drink, dont we . Yeah. The other story going. Revenge for you not liking in revenge for you not liking their wine, andy, story do their wine, andy, this story do their wine, andy, this story do the bond story. I the james bond story. Well, i was thinking the renting story first, well come to james was thinking the renting story first, latervell come to james was thinking the renting story first, later on, come to james was thinking the renting story first, later on, ifome to james was thinking the renting story first, later on, if thatsy james was thinking the renting story first, later on, if thats allnes right. And this is the idea, the stress of renting is actually biologically i mean, biologically ageing us. I mean, i know if theres a bit of i dont know if theres a bit of a correlate in there or if its just kind of conflating it. But anyway, tell us, you were a home owner. This is why youve got good skin im sort of half skin and im sort of half renting, half buying at the moment. And why im moment. And this is why im craggy. Study of 1500 craggy. So a study of 1500 people bods university of people by bods at university of adelaide says renters are cumulate damage on cumulate biological damage on their body , a faster rate than their body, a faster rate than people who own their own homes and this is things like because of the stress, cortisol , of the stress, cortisol, etcetera and because of things like rent increases, no fault evictions, having to rely on your landlord to repair anything and not being anything from not being able to put your own pictures up because youre not allowed damage the walls. Allowed to damage the walls. This and state of flux allowed to damage the walls. This renters and state of flux allowed to damage the walls. This renters are state of flux allowed to damage the walls. This renters are in. State of flux allowed to damage the walls. This renters are in. 9;tate of flux allowed to damage the walls. This renters are in. 9 million flux that renters are in. 9 Million People rent in the uk, which is, i think, a record weve ever had. Means they had. It means that they are acquiring buying logical damage. They paper a faster they say in the paper a faster rate who their rate than people who own their own house. Rate than people who own their 0er house. Rate than people who own their 0er wonder doing this might i wonder doing this might come as something as a surprise to people who own their homes, who their mortgage go who are seeing their mortgage go through theyre through the roof and theyre worried their homes. Mean, some of us are saying i mean, some of us are saying my rate about them my Interest Rate about them going you know, a lot of going up and, you know, a lot of people who are renting who are having their increases having seen their rent increases are of the very are because most of the very small in this country, small landlords in this country, they or 2 properties. They only own 1 or 2 properties. Theyre to the rent theyre having to put the rent up because their mortgage has gone as well. Its pretty gone up as well. Its pretty stressful at the moment, stressful around at the moment, isnt it . Living nightmare. Cost of living nightmare. Yeah. But idea that yeah. Yeah. But the idea that stress some sort of stress has some sort of biological ageing is biological ageing element is kind interesting i kind of interesting to hear. I definitely got my first grey hairs having children. Im hairs after having children. Im pretty jobs a pretty sure this jobs taken a few me. Few years off me. Actually only 28. Say im actually only 28. Its work thats ageing me i but you know, its not to be sniffed at really. I mean we, we gloss over it, but actually, you know, young people are know, the young people are predominantly renters we predominantly renters and we talk the astronomical talk about the astronomical increase in rents, not just in london, not just in cities, but in a lot of the towns around the country, up 25 on this time last year. And the percentage of peoples salary thats being spent on rental , the insecurity spent on rental, the insecurity that comes with that , it is a that comes with that, it is a worry. Its not just the money either. Its the complete lack of control, the ability , the of control, the ability, the inability to be able to plan for the future. If youve been hit by Mortgage Rates or rent increases, you letter from increases, you get a letter from your get a letter your landlord. You get a letter from your mortgage broker, mortgage lender, and suddenly youre terrified. Youre absolutely terrified. Interesting how before its interesting how before the the show were the end of the show were talking some time talking 90s. Some first time voters, no voters, some young people, no doubt the stress of doubt housing and the stress of that will be a huge issue for them. But andy, this story i wanted to cover in wanted to cover everything in the world will be hokey if the world will be hokey cokey if we only had a black or a woman. Dawn story 007. Oh, sorry. There were two stories you just actually seamlessly combined. Two stories. Lets have a hokey cokey. First on james bond, weve heard it for ages. Idris elba should be the next bond. Lets have a bond. A jane bond. This have a bond. Ajane bond. This story has been around forever. Why cant we just stick with the original fella . Yeah well, daniel obviously Daniel Craigs obviously departing as bond and john taylor, who used to. Whos been speaking at a festival. John taylor used to work British Government work for the British Government in moscow. He says black or in moscow. He says a black or female would boost female 007 would boost recruitment mi6. I dont recruitment for mi6. I dont think intelligent or intelligent people of colour who would be applying for these kind of jobs are seduced, particularly because of whether bond is because of whether james bond is black white. I think what is black or white. I think what is more seductive having more seductive is having brilliant dramas like idris brilliant new dramas like idris elbas luther, which was brilliant him in that lead role, things like killing eve. He had women in the roles as sort of assassin and thief catcher or whichever brilliant women of colour, brilliant actors of colour, brilliant actors of colour in new spy specific dramas, rather than just getting fusty old bond and changing the lead actor daniel craig, fusty old bond. Old bond. I dont know whether really young people who might be the mi6 young people who might be the m16 star of the future mi6 star of the future particularly seduced by james bond anymore. I think look at the figures of people going, its people of my age. My age. I dont think it matters what colour james i dont think it matters what colourjames bond is, but as long as hes got to be a bloke, hes got to be a proper alpha male bloke. Sorry, i dont male bloke. Im sorry, i dont think he can be a woman, but are we reading into this there we reading into this that there is a recruitment into mi6 . Are they struggling to are they struggling to attract people to be spies . And if why . You isnt it if so, why . You know, isnt it the ultimate of a lot the ultimate dream of a lot of the ultimate dream of a lot of the brightest and in this the brightest and best in this country to go out and spy volunteer . I wouldnt include myself but, myself in that bracket. But but, you , its sort of supposed you know, its sort of supposed to be a glamorous role, isnt it . It never entered my mind. But, you know, from a working class east end background, they werent recruiting from group werent recruiting from my group of were regrouping of kids. They were regrouping from from oxbridge, from recruiting from oxbridge, werent dont think they are any so i dont think they are any more necessarily, but they are. Its just interesting. Isnt its just interesting. But isnt that pay your entry level, is a pay your entry level, is that great . Also, i think that great . And also, i think a lot of the jobs are desk bound data trawling and trawling on social media and internet social media and the internet rather than flying into rather than sort of flying into glamorous five star hotels, one is undercover in cabana or is going undercover in cabana or whatever it might be. Its interesting that its interesting point that you dawn, because you raised, dawn, because theres james bond theres never been a james bond like, know, where i come like, you know, where i come from in nottinghamshire, the east bothered me from in nottinghamshire, the ea i bothered me from in nottinghamshire, the eai need bothered me from in nottinghamshire, the eai need a bothered me from in nottinghamshire, the eai need a working bothered me from in nottinghamshire, the eai need a working classered me from in nottinghamshire, the eai need a working class bond. Ie or i need a working class bond. No, dont. James bond is no, we dont. James bond is a sophisticated, debonair, upper crust. No, no, no. Muscular in crust. No, no, no. Muscular in womanising, hard drinking legend and surely actually making the job sound very attractive to me now. But no, it it leaves a character alone. Whats wrong with it . Nothing why should we rewrite it all . Why should we rewrite it all . Now . We do have the wokeist cokey. Now the hokey cokey. Now the hokey cokey. This is another one of those crazy stories. A group of morris dancers. Dancers. Yeah, this is. I love this story. This is men. Page seven of the sun. Its very funny. So this is the Brighton Morris Dancing Group that used to be called the Brighton Morris men, but theyve had a vote on the change of the name, so they dropped the word men in so they can, you know whats coming, dont you . So they can be more inclusive include trans men inclusive and include trans men and non binary dancers into their largely male, presenting space. Right. Theres still no room for women, though. You cant be a woman and can dance for this morris Dancing Group. But i could identify as a man and get in there. Evidently ive seen loads of really good female morris dancers , but evidently superb ones. Its a very male , male its a very male, male dominated thing. Its meant to be about blokes and women arent meant to do it. Do women want to do it . Is my question. I mean, i was at a country, whatever you call it, village fete over the summer talking about fusty, fusty old people. I mean, there were you know, it was a particular type of person. And i thought they look a bit sorry, im going to be offending some morris dancers at home. But did think, all at home. But i did think, all right, go watch this. Its a traditional its a lovely tradition, but ive got no, no desire involved. No, no desire to get involved. Actually, i can actually see you with those bells in your ankle dancing around a funny hat on. No offence. Its a great no offence. Its a great tradition. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Dropping whatsoever. But i mean, dropping the word men to be more inclusive. But youre still not including women. I mean. Sorry if you are a woman and you would like to. Morris dance and you are offended by the title of men in it, us i personally am it, let us know. I personally am not many not convinced that many women are bothered about being included not the stage included or not to the stage where words men and where the words men and women are now offensive. I think is. Yeah, i think it is. Yeah, i think it is. And idea of having what and this idea of having what morris trans dancers i mean, in terms like a niche within a terms of like a niche within a niche within niche, how many niche within a niche, how many trans morris dancers even trans morris dancers do you even well get . Trans morris dancers do you even welwell, trans morris dancers do you even welwell, yeah, i mean, how many well, yeah, i mean, how many trans people want to go be trans people want to go and be morris dancers . I mean, it doesnt i mean, really, it doesnt sound like the point. British population sound like the point. As British Population sound like the point. As trans, tish population sound like the point. As trans, sor population sound like the point. As trans, so whatjlation identify as trans, so what percentage of that then wants to be morris which be a morris dancer, which is already very tiny minority of already a very tiny minority of the population . Cant imagine brighton i cant imagine this Brighton Morris group their morris Dancers Group their websites with no , no, websites crashing with no, no, maybe. Well, you never know. A gb news investigation. And isabel undercover in isabel should go undercover in her local fete. Morris dancing troupe. How to be ostracised from my new local community. I think youve never invited back. I think youve already got the morris dancing fraternity out there, ringing their bells and anger. No, im actually a bit afraid to look at the gb views in boxing. Im really sorry. Im really sorry. Im really sorry. I do love morris dancing, and ill sad to it go. I just ill be sad to see it go. I just personally am not bothered about signing up to morris dancing personally am not bothered about signirthis to morris dancing personally am not bothered about signirthis iso morris dancing personally am not bothered about signirthis is what ris dancing personally am not bothered about signirthis is what combinerg all bond this is what combine it all that a proper spy role that would be a proper spy role because you know suave will because you know the suave will give himself undercover because of bells. Give himself undercover because of he bells. Give himself undercover because of he wont able creep up he wont be able to creep up on anybody. A dancer of colour a morris dancer of colour whos also in the secret service. There you go. Every box tick with an aston martin. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, listen, we have to say goodbye. Dawn neesom on that note. And andy jones, thank you for reviewing our papers morning whats papers this morning and whats been news day. I been a pretty heavy news day. I able of levity as able to find a bit of levity as well. Absolutely. Very well. Absolutely. Thanks very much, were going much, indeed. Look, were going to keep a close eye on all of those developments coming of those developments coming out of israel getting israel this morning, getting that of shots being fired israel this morning, getting that lebanon. Hots being fired israel this morning, getting that lebanon. Welleing fired israel this morning, getting that lebanon. Well havefired israel this morning, getting that lebanon. Well have more from lebanon. Well have more detail amassing of detail also on the amassing of troops the gaza border being troops on the gaza border being confirmed morning the confirmed this morning by the idf. A very good morning to you. It is coming up to 9 00 on wednesday. The 11th of october. Welcome to breakfast. This morning with Isabel Webster and martin daubney. And these are stories have and these are stories we have been this with been covering this morning with the and conflict the israel and Hamas Conflict dominating, course , the dominating, of course, the program about a massacre Program Details about a massacre by hamas have emerged. Reporters being shown the scene at israeli village scene at an israeli village where the bodies of men, women , where the bodies of men, women, children and babies have been found. According to the Israeli Military. This is the reaction military. This is the reaction of the defence secretary, grant shapps on our program this morning. Behaviour and we morning. Hamas behaviour and we talked about these reports coming out of babies being butchered, people being the bodies being beheaded, that has no place in the 21st century. That is at a different and completely different moral scale to a country defending itself. To a country defending itself. And were hearing that hundreds of thousands of israeli troops near the gaza border are now ready to launch a major ground offensive on the gaza strip. Gb News Reporter Charlie Peters is in tel aviv. Peters is in tel aviv. Tel aviv is now israels shelter as hundreds of thousands of troops head south to prepare for the next phase of their war with hamas. Well all of that as the European Union condemns israels blockade of gaza, saying the denial of food, water and electricity is illegal under International Law. And meanwhile, the home secretary ramps up security across the uk to protect jewish communities from hate crime. Communities from hate crime. Elsewhere, sir keir starmer took to the stage at the Labour Party Conference in his pitch for power, promising to get britains future back. This comes as a protester sprinkled the with glitter during the leader with glitter during his speech. His speech. And just how did the labour leaders speech go down with our panel of first time voters . Well be getting their views on labours policies later in the show. And of course well be heanng and of course well be hearing from Aidan Mcgivern from the met office with your weather. Its a reversal of fortunes for much of the uk in todays weather. Brighter skies for scotland , brighter skies for scotland, but wetter conditions for wales and central england. Full details in the forecast. Details in the forecast. Well, as always, we love to hear from you throughout the course of the program. Keep your thoughts coming in. You can join those discussions by emailing gbviews gbnews. Com or you can tweet at. Tweet us at. Gb news. On day five of israels war on hamas, shocking details have emerged of a massacre during the terror groups assault on israeli communities. Reporters have been shown the scene of a massacre at a village close to gaza. Just a warning. First of all, you may find many of the images were about to show you disturbing. This is the village of kfar aza. Its a kibbutz where the military told reporters yesterday that men, women children had been shot women and children had been shot dead by Hamas Terrorists. And the military told reporters that entire families were found dead in their homes, including babies. While israels Bombing Campaign on gaza has continued this morning and hamas have also been firing rockets into israel , more than 200 buildings were destroyed overnight. The United Nations reports 260,000 civilians have been displaced and that entire neighbourhoods have been destroyed. Meanwhile hamas has continued to fire rockets into israel. Well, casualty numbers are mounting on both sides, as israel put their death toll at 1200. And the Gaza Health Ministry have reported at least 900 people have been killed in the airstrikes. And a palestinian official has said gazas sole power plant has said gazas sole power plant has fuelled for just another 12 hours left. Now after a european meeting last night, the eu Foreign Policy chief said he opposed the blockade of gaza. Opposed the blockade of gaza. Where has the right to defend but but it has to be done accordingly with International Law, humanitarian law and some decisions are contrary. This decisions are contrary. This International Law, the palestinian authorities, our partner, we dont deal with hamas. But yes , we support and hamas. But yes, we support and we deal and we Work Together with the Palestinian Authority and not all the Palestinian People are terrorists. So a collective punishment against all palestinians will be unfair. And unproductive. And unproductive. Well, we were the first broadcasters this morning to speak to the defence secretary grant shapps about the escalations in the israel Hamas Conflict. And start by asking conflict. And we start by asking how concerned he is about the Palestinian Civilians in gaza. Hamas behaviour. And i dont think there should be any question of trying to make sort of moral equivalence between israel trying to defend itself and the way that hamas have gone around butchering people and the Israeli Military says hundreds of thousands of troops are near the gaza border and are now ready to begin their mission. Well, israels expected to launch a ground offensive on the gaza strip soon. And this morning, the Israeli Defence force spokesperson, Jonathan Conroy , aukus, issued his daily conroy, aukus, issued his daily update. Update. But what were also doing in these areas close to the gaza strip is that we have deployed or actually we have sent our infantry armoured soldiers, our artillery corps and many other soldiers from the reserves, 300,000 in numbers in different brigades and divisions , and they brigades and divisions, and they are now close to the gaza strip getting ready to execute the mission that they have been given, that we have been given by the israeli government, and thatis by the israeli government, and that is to make sure that hamas , at the end of this war wont have any military capabilities by which they can threaten or kill israeli civilians. That is our military aim. And the uk and the United States have offered their full support to israel to contain hamas, the first plane out of ammunition from america has just landed in israel. Well, lets speak to gb News Reporter Charlie Peters, whos in tel aviv for us. Charlie, is it fair to say that theres a real concern that this could spread into a much wider conflict . Not only are we heanng conflict . Not only are we hearing about the troops, possibly a land invasion already, israelis calling already, the israelis calling this a war. But this morning the idf reporting that theyd had anti tank fire coming into their northern positions in from lebanon, which, of course , lebanon, which, of course, suggestions that could involve hezbollah, a widening of the conflict there. And then this morning, just in the last few moments, were hearing, for example, that the netherlands have their citizens to have advised their citizens to avoid essential travel avoid all but essential travel to lebanon. So it seems like regional insecurity is certainly spreading. Thats right. Spreading. Thats right. And there is an atmosphere of terror among the civilians ive spoken to this morning in tel aviv. And when they talk about how they feel about this situation, they do refer to the fact that this war is complex, that it has multiple fronts. Ive used just referenced the missile coming in from lebanon this morning that follows several border clashes with what is likely to be lebanese hezbollah, but also the Palestinian Islamic jihad forces in southern lebanon. And overnight, we had reports of shelling coming in from syria. A new front into this conflict. The israeli side fired back with artillery. Now, this morning, the Us National Security adviser, Jake Sullivan , said adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that the us was working hard to secure safe passage with gaza into egypt so that gazans currently being hit by israeli airstrikes in the gaza strip could escape from the israelis targeting hamas militants and terrorists in the area. However, last night, as you said, the americans did support their first supply of advanced munitions to the israeli Defence Forces. And the israelis accept forces. And the israelis accept these munitions, saying that they would be vital in the next phase of their mission. This is phase of their mission. This is likely to be the decisive phase and we will see what is almost certain to be the first invasion of the gaza strip since 2014. Significantly more amounts of bloodshed to come after what has already been a devastating war. And just five days. Okay, Charlie Peters, thanks for that update. And news in that the us is now trying to negotiate with israel and gaza to get a humanitarian corridor for civilians out of gaza, possibly into egypt. These talks are still undennay. This is not are still undennay. This is not confirmed, but hope in sight that there may be some form, maybe some form of evacuation from the area. And these are the latest pictures coming into us again from the Reuters News Agency this morning of the civilian implications , frankly, in gaza implications, frankly, in gaza and thats why a lot of the International Community have been renewing their concerns about that humanitarian corridor potentially out of the country. President biden echoing and we heard just a few moments ago real worries about about the siege and the implications there to cut off supplies, especially as were hearing that energy suppues as were hearing that Energy Supplies are running loose. But just to explain what were seeing there in terms the seeing there in terms of the pictures a father is carrying his daughter into an ambulance andits his daughter into an ambulance and its understood that he has been saying to her, dont not be scared. And hes comforting her following on from an israeli airstrike, the defence secretary grant shapps talking about this knock and drop drop system that they have in the country, which enables civilians in theory, to get out before before those bombs land on the ground. But in practise, in such a small space thatis practise, in such a small space that is obviously incredibly difficult to achieve. And with difficult to achieve. And with 900 civilians having lost their lives so far, it is a nightmare situation on both sides. Situation on both sides. With the major ground offensive on the way that can only get worse. Okay. Well, here there are worries the conflict could lead to a rise of anti semitism. Back here in the uk, jewish schools are increasing security and communities are supporting one another as they wait to hear if friends and family caught up in the conflict are safe. Lets speak to the chief executive of the campaign against anti semitism, gideon falter. Anti semitism, gideon falter. Thanks for joining anti semitism, gideon falter. Thanks forjoining us anti semitism, gideon falter. Thanks for joining us this morning. Gideon on gb news. So weve seen what appeared to be very pro hamas, quite blatant protests or celebrations happening across the uk. Lots of them in london. Weve seen businesses targeted, vandalised in Golders Green graffiti on the streets. How do you feel in terms of the safety of the Jewish Community in britain and the alarming rise in anti semitism , a Campaign Anti semitism, a campaign against anti semitism . Its a little bit like a fire hose has suddenly been trained on us. Weve got this vast number of reports of incidents and particularly, as you mentioned , there are people on mentioned, there are people on the streets of britain who are openly praising a banned terrorist group and to everyone who does that, a reminder that thatis who does that, a reminder that that is a criminal offence. Its that is a criminal offence. Its a terrorist offence, but so far we need to see action being taken, including these people who are praising hamas on social media and we arent seeing so far the prosecutions emerging and we need to see those come through very urgently. Othennise these people are just going to get bolder and bolder. Many jewish citizens so many jewish citizens living in the uk in some way feel affected by whats happened, whether theyve got people who have been called up as whether they have as reservists, whether they have family or friends, whether they were visiting, because know were visiting, because we know there religious holiday there was a religious holiday going important sorry, i going on. How important sorry, i seem have sound. Oh, seem to have lost sound. Oh, okay. A problem. We were okay. Thats a problem. We were just hoping to ask you a little bit about the support that weve seen minister for seen from the Prime Minister for the Jewish Community in this country. Can re establish country. If we can re establish that we will try and come that link, we will try and come back him just soon as we back to him just as soon as we can. And in the meantime, its worth just reflecting really what talking about, what he was talking about, the scenes israeli scenes outside the Israeli Embassy last couple of embassy over the last couple of days where theyre having to board it up in light of those protests. Theory, they were protests. In theory, they were protests. In theory, they were protests of protests in support of palestinians, it sort of was palestinians, but it sort of was a very fine line between self liberation for the attacks on israel and indeed for the terrorist organisation hamas. Terrorist organisation hamas. Either way, it was felt to be highly inappropriate in the wake of what has frankly been massacres of innocents in the region. I think we have gideon back now. Gideon, can you hear us . Have we re established comms with you . You have. We have you back. Okay. So you were just outlining the fact even outlining the fact that even though it is illegal to protest in favour of groups like hamas and weve seen actually in france, the police going in and breaking up such protests in the uk , there doesnt seem to be any uk, there doesnt seem to be any firm action, just lots of talk. Firm action, just lots of talk. Yeah, and thats the thing. You know, we always get as the Jewish Community, we always end up with reassurances from politicians and Police Forces and they have good and no doubt they have good intentions and no doubt they have good intentiowhen it comes to actually but when it comes to actually deaung but when it comes to actually dealing with these things, weve learned from experience learned from long experience that unfortunately , those that unfortunately, those reassurances come through reassurances dont come through. And just imagine what its like be in the jewish like to be in the Jewish Community just youve just Community Just now. Youve just had largest loss of had the single largest loss of jewish since the jewish life on a day since the holocaust. Everybody in the community and there arent that many world. There many jews in the world. There are 15 million of us. Are about 14, 15 million of us. And Everybody Knows somebody who is in some way affected by this. Its a deeply shocking thing thats happened to not just israeli jews, but jews right around the world. And were seeing people outside on our streets dancing and clapping and waving and these people need to be dealt with by the police, particularly if theyre committing terrorism offences. Whats the point in having terrorism legislation if we just bother to enforce it . Gideon i have to ask you this because you know, some of those that perhaps were taking to the may were taking to the streets may be related this country to be related in this country to civilians have been caught civilians that have been caught up horrendous up since saturdays horrendous terrorist atrocities. And there will be hurt on both sides. Do you recognise both sides. Do you recognise a tool . Will any of those , you tool . Will any of those, you know, feelings on the other side and do you support the calls for and do you support the calls for a humanitarian corridor for civilians that are being used very often as human shields in the gaza strip so that they can get to safety if they choose to do so . Okay so first of all, im here from campaign against anti semitism. Im not here from the israeli government. And ive got no its wrong to ask me about what . Well, no, the reason i ask you is that because there might be people taking to the streets in those protests, which you were commenting on. So if there are people who are coming out in the uk personally being affected in you say many in the way that you say many jews have personally jews have been personally affected, people affected, there will be people in think of the in this country, i think of the leader of the snp has family leader of the snp who has family in palestine. You know, there are on both in this are people on both sides in this country. Hear what are people on both sides in this countrsaying hear what are people on both sides in this countrsaying. Hear what are people on both sides in this countrsaying. Youre ear what are people on both sides in this countrsaying. Youre notwhat youre saying. Youre not representing the israeli government, but you recognise government, but do you recognise that there is a need for civilians to be given an exit route from the gaza strip . Its just a general question right . Well, the general question is do i recognise that there are civilians affected on both sides . Of course i do. I think sides . Of course i do. I think whats very important to recognise is that the civilians affected on the israeli side weve babies beheaded, we weve seen babies beheaded, we have people in the most have seen people in the most gruesome way attacked by a terrorist organisation and israel as a sovereign country obviously has to defend its population and unfortunately when war is invited, if you just think a week back there were negotiations happening about, i dont know, more and more work permits for people exiting gaza. This was not a fierce situation of war. This was a situation of war. This was a situation of war. This was a situation of relative calm. Hamas has unleashed an absolutely horrendous terrorist assault and im afraid to say that the people who are on the streets in london, no matter what personal connections they might have anywhere in the world to any civilians being harmed anywhere, there is absolutely not a thing in the world, not a thing in the world that can justify the kind of barbarity that we have seen from hamas and anybody celebrating that or promoting hamas or supporting or glorifying hamas belongs in a pnson glorifying hamas belongs in a prison cell. The law must be prison cell. The law must be enforced. Enforced. Okay, gideon, falter. Were going to have to leave it there. Thanks for joining going to have to leave it there. Thanks forjoining us going to have to leave it there. Thanks for joining us this morning on breakfast. Stay with us. After the break, well be speaking to our first time voters. We spoke to them after the them last week after the conservative conference. Them last week after the cons rishi ive conference. Them last week after the consrishi sunaks conference. Them last week after the consrishi sunaks big1ference. Them last week after the consrishi sunaks big speech. And rishi sunaks big speech. Well what they well be finding out what they made sir keir starmer made of sir keir starmer yesterday everything thats yesterday and everything thats been liverpool been happening in liverpool this week. Sec welcome back. Were going to take you straight to our first time voters panel. We had some of them in last week reflecting on what the conservative party was saying. And this morning, we was saying. And this morning, we welcome ricardo , izzy and amber welcome ricardo, izzy and amber to reflect on what youve been heanng to reflect on what youve been hearing liverpool and hearing from liverpool and ricardo old timer. Now, ricardo as an old timer. Now, having done this once before, first your thoughts then first of all, your thoughts then on what youve been hearing and if it resonated with you, if any of it resonated with you, because you raised because last week you raised your to say nothing you your hand to say nothing you heard from the conservatives would persuade you vote for would persuade you to vote for them last week . Them after last week . Look, the have well, look, the labour have put some points, but put in some good points, but i do feel like theyre the alternative to the conservatives lives. Everyones just voting for them because they want to get them because they want to get the conservatives out. So they in terms of home ownership, for example , they say they want to example, they say they want to build 1. 5 million new homes, but they havent really said how theyre going to do it. So i would like to hear more on the actual strategy. And because i dont think its enough right now. And do you think that that point of being able to own your own home is something thats key . Because we had a reporter that that renting is bad for your mental health. It actually is ageing. So what about is ageing. So what about yourself . Is that yourself . Do you is that prospect of being able to own a home something that keir starmer that appeals to you . I think important yeah, i think its important to because renting it to own a home because renting it causes so much pressure young causes so much pressure on young people up with it and to people to keep up with it and to make sure that they pay the right amount they to pay. Right amount they need to pay. So a home will do them justice. And is it youre 17. You havent yet been eligible to vote potentially by the end of next year, you would be the right age for it. Do you feel as though the labour party is the party then that will possibly make ownership Reality Party then that will possibly ma you ownership Reality Party then that will possibly ma you . Ownership Reality Party then that will possibly ma you . Based |ership Reality Party then that will possibly mayou . Based on hip Reality Party then that will possibly ma you . Based on what Reality Party then that will possibly mayou . Based on what youve for you . Based on what youve heard the last few days . Or do you think its just perhaps, you know, going to be know, never going to be achievable . And do you feel despondent about that . Think can i do think it can be achievable. Do. But i do think achievable. I do. But i do think that the conservative party have made it quite difficult for them to do that. And your moms a nurse . I believe she is, yeah. Just give us a sense of how she has felt life has been through this cost of crisis through the of living crisis through the pandemic. Under the pandemic. But under the stewardship of the conservatives , i think it was quite difficult for her and the pandemic to deal with all that stress. And she had to take in a lot of information. Ian and my dad of information. Ian and my dad helped her through all of it, but it was very difficult for her in that time. Im sure. Yeah. Yeah. Amber, when i come on to you now, one thing that was spoken about at the conference was misogyny. I think we have a clip of Angela Rayner talking about that and come back to your take on sure on that. Could we . Sure honour to stand here its an honour to stand here today as your deputy leader and look at so inspiring look out at so many inspiring women. And lets face it, sometimes its tiring being a woman in this world, especially under a tory government. But under a tory government. But thatis under a tory government. But that is why it falls upon us to continue the work of the last Labour Government standing side by side. So that all of us succeed in battling inequality together. Either labour will together. Either labour will properly tackle Sexual Harassment at work. A shocking two thirds of young women have been sexually harassed at work. This must change and thats why the next Labour Government will amend the equalities act to introduce a legal duty for employers to take all reasonable steps to stop Sexual Harassment before it starts. But thats not all we will make. So. So, amber, when you hear Angela Rayner talk like that about misogyny and a country fit for women, how does that make you feel . Is that the sort of language you want to hear from . Labour yeah, i would say it is like i think Sexual Harassment and that kind of thing is like very big issue and like what she was mentioning about trying to like prevent that, like in, in like working environments and stuff. I think thats really important. Youre 23. Youve never voted in an election before, which will, you know, a lot of people will, you know, a lot of people will to that. Do you will be sad to hear that. Do you feel inspired to vote next time, like vote might count . Like your vote might count . I think so, yeah. I feel um, i think so, yeah. I feel like based on what heard , i like based on what ive heard, i think is inspiring and think it is inspiring and i think it is inspiring and i think definitely that are think definitely that we are getting to that point where like there needs to be a change, like there needs to be a change, like there needs to be, you know, like , yeah, well theres always like, yeah, well theres always the about whether the big question about whether politicians people politicians turn people off politics and the young in particular. And i just want to show you some karaoke from conference last night where one of the shadow cabinet was dancing. Lets first of. All lets take a look. First of. All i keir mather. Rose sarira you i keir mather. Rose sarira you sing in liverpool . Sing in liverpool . Come on, sally. The way she come on, sally. The way she knows its too late. Never. Knows its too late. Never. Seven on my time. Never speak seven on my time. Never speak for me. I give seven on my time. Never speak for me. I give it my. I was looking for tom hannood in there but couldnt see him. We know he was there burning the midnight oil. I have to just do a show of hands because thats how we wrapped up the Peoples Panel anything that panel last week. Anything that youve over last three youve seen over the last three days persuade you days that could persuade you three to vote for the labour party . If raise hands. Party . If so, raise your hands. Okay. One sort of one and a half. Good point. But they thats good point. But they still need to do so much work. They definitely kind of a lot of young people are definitely interested more in the labor party. Thats how i feel. But even after that singing, yes , even after that singing, yes, its terrible. Well, listen , ricardo, izzy, well, listen, ricardo, izzy, amber. Fascinating to get your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time in and review time to come in and review Labour Party Conference with us. Thank for joining Labour Party Conference with us.
