But for now, its back to mark and. Pip to look at lis. Us. Us. Yeah , right. Yeah, right. Yeah, right. Thank you very much , aaron. Thank you very much, aaron. Now, the big question , what on now, the big question, what on earth is going on with hs2 . Well, the Prime Minister has so far refused to confirm that he will scrap the birmingham to manchester leg of hs2, despite widespread speculation that he will axe the project. He has, will axe the project. He has, however, indicated that the cost of the scheme has gone far beyond what had been originally planned. Well, at the conference, of course, in manchester, its been suggested there may be an emergency Cabinet Meeting today ahead of the Prime Ministers key Conference Speech tomorrow, which may include that official announcement. Lets get more with Catherine Forster political correspondent, of course, broke the news at the conference for us yesterday. This was under consideration and, well, theyve sort of, if you pardon the expression, try to cover their tracks. Since then, it seems , catherine. Yes, i see what you did there, mark. Welcome to manchester. Welcome to manchester. It is absolutely heaving in conference, which of course, as i said yesterday , is in the i said yesterday, is in the sight of what was once a railway station. Taking trains. Yes from station. Taking trains. Yes from london to manchester. You really couldnt make it up, could you . So its super busy. As you can see, this morning, weve had the Health Secretary talking about banning women from sorry , banning women from sorry, banning women from sorry, banning trans women from single sex wards in hospitals. Weve had the levelling up secretary not talking about hs2. Well have Suella Braverman and the home secretary this afternoon soon. The government would like to talk about lots of things, but all anybody is still talking about here is , yes, hs2, not so about here is, yes, hs2, not so much. Will it or wont it ever come to manchester because despite the government still insisting that no final decision has been made , its widely has been made, its widely expected. And i was told categorically yesterday that michael gove has said its being axed. Michael gove has said its being axed. And now apparently the axed. And now apparently the money is going to be repaid , money is going to be repaid, purchased or some of the money potentially towards roads and potholes, etcetera. And transport in the north, potentially Northern Powerhouse rail that weve heard about for many, many years. But its never happened. You know, high speed rail running, connecting liverpool through manchester to leeds. Its etcetera to hull up to newcastle. But some reports to newcastle. But some reports today that that may be under threat as well. Now this is threat as well. Now this is managed to unite people pretty much from across the political spectrum. Previous Prime Minister actors Boris Johnson , minister actors Boris Johnson, David Cameron who rarely intervene as previous chancellors George Osborne been speaking today, saying what a terrible decision this would mean. The labour mayor of greater manchester, andy burnham , absolutely appalled, saying it will be a betrayal of the north if they pull the plug on this and even the conservatives lviv mayor of the West Midlands , andy mayor of the West Midlands, andy street and bear in mind this high speed rail is definitely going to birmingham , though we going to birmingham, though we dont know if its going to end in houston or old oak common, he is saying , too, that its is saying, too, that its critically important that this connect, this line is built in to full manchester and hes not going down without a fight. So lets see what happens. Lets lets see what happens. Lets see tomorrow we expect the Prime Minister to make this announcement. What will he do instead . How is he going to sweeten this very bitter pill if they pull the plug on Northern Powerhouse rail . I honestly do not think they would dare. There would be absolute uproar, but i suspect theres going to be an almighty row , whatever. But for almighty row, whatever. But for now, back to you in the studio. So sorry. Okay, catherine. And just just one more question. Actually in terms of the mps that youre talking to, is there not a lot of frustration that all this talk about hs2 is threatening to overshadow Everything Else about the conference . It is completely overshadowing the conference. The government has messaged edges that it wants to get out. Edges that it wants to get out. Theyre struggling to do that. Theyre struggling to do that. And also, of course, weve had the Prime Ministers previous Prime Ministers, liz truss, stealing a lot of Media Attention yesterday with these messages from the sidelines about what she thinks. Rishi sunak should be doing differently. Now of course they say dont they, that divided parties do not win elections. Rishi sunak needs to try to present a united front, but unfortunately , although there unfortunately, although there are some mps think , yes, they are some mps think, yes, they can still win the next election. Rishi sunaks on the right track. The polls are beginning to close. Theres many that think the elections already lost. Theyre jostling for position. People like Suella Braverman kemi badenoch, priti patel all really fancy being next leader of the conservative party and in quite a difficult time for rishi sunak yeah. And in the shorter term, catherine, we understand there may be an emergency Cabinet Meeting there in manchester rather than being held around the cabinet table at number 10. Does that indicate that there are the cabinet are concerns within the cabinet itself, not just at the decision , but the way its been presented by the government . Presented by the government . Well , certainly. Are concerns well, certainly. Are concerns within the cabinet. We have heard that mark harper , the heard that mark harper, the transport secretary, isnt very happy. Ditto michael gove, the levelling up secretary who has told an impeccable source that its not happening. But the thing is that rishi sunak does need the cabinet stamp of approval to make this announcement. Now, there were announcement. Now, there were rumours that Cabinet Meeting might be held yesterday didnt happen. It may well be held today to rubber stamp this plan, but all eyes on hs2 and the irony of standing in an old train station in manchester at a time where trains and manchester are at the centre of a very big political storm. Catherine at platform 13. 5, if we take that analogy from harry potter, thanks very much for taking us through that. I think weve got some pictures coming in just to break away from manchester because were going from manchester to cardiff , something completely different for you. Some lovely pictures here of the prince and princess of wales visiting cardiff as celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the hmt empire. Windrush to the uk. Get undennay. And it also this marks the start of black history month. Now it is the second visit of the prince and princess of wales to wales in just over a month because they were there last month to attend a service at saint davids cathedral to mark the First Anniversary of the queens passing and there they are getting a glorious welcome from youngsters in cardiff. Yes afternoon, all turning out in their best School Uniform , neatly pressed and uniform, neatly pressed and washed, of course, but just reflect cardiff very much at the centre of that post war multicultural change in britain with tiger bay in particular down on the front there in cardiff. Cardiff. But william and kate so celebrating the work of the Diverse Community groups, trying to bring about more positive change in wales. And the flags fly by the cheers and the wave there from the princess of wales , as i think thats been a bit of a hit, that visit by the sound of it, more from wales , of sound of it, more from wales, of course, as that visit continues throughout the day. Throughout the day. Lets take you back to manchester, though, and gloria shapiro, who is now joined by conservative mp for stroud. Conservative mp for stroud. Siobhan bailey , gloria will, siobhan bailey, gloria will, siobhan bailey, gloria will, siobhan , talk to you about hs2 siobhan, talk to you about hs2 and what the heck is going on . Lets look ahead to the Prime Ministers speech tomorrow with siobhan baillie. You have got a majority of less than 4000. You really need the Prime Minister to pull it out of the bag to keep stroud conservative for you at the next election. What does he need to do, siobhan . Well, listen, i do have a marginal seat. You know what thats like. You know what thats like. More marginal and it is even more marginal with boundary changes, with the boundary changes, actually. Like challenge with the boundary changes, a i ually. Like challenge with the boundary changes, ai was v. Like challenge with the boundary changes, ai was written like challenge with the boundary changes, ai was written off challenge with the boundary changes, ai was written off last1allenge with the boundary changes, ai was written off last time, ge. I was written off last time, so im really up for the fight. I local people are going i mean, local people are going to myself rishi on to have both myself and rishi on the in the election the ticket in the election whenever that come. Theyve whenever that may come. Theyve seen just really hard seen from me just really hard work, pragmatic , sent to london work, pragmatic, sent to london to change the law. Ive done to change the law. Ive done that on childcare. Ive done that on childcare. Ive done that on childcare. Ive done that on anonymous abuse, online safety, ive done that on things like Child Maintenance enforcements see enforcements so they can see that taking difficult that im taking difficult decisions to make decisions and trying to make changes and bringing that to make make things better for local people that is what ive really liked about what rishi has been doing in the last few weeks. Hes actually saying , weeks. Hes actually saying, look, i can ive got to take some really difficult decisions. Ones theyre going to be unpopular, but im going to really explain to the public why they are necessary. So i want to see more of that from him tomorrow. He see more of that from him tomorrow. He made some see more of that from him tomorrow. He made some really tomorrow. He made some really solid announcement, difficult announcements on net zero, but that will matter to absolutely thousands of people in my constituency in terms of the worries that they were having about changing cars and where theyre off grid and boilers and things. You know, i want to see some answers and some really solid proposals on what i would call the Kitchen Table politics. So what is what is bothering people on a day to day basis . Where is the state getting into their lives and them seeing its not quite working as well as we would all hope . So things like education and special educational needs. Im having a big argument about reforming the apprenticeship levy because local say that we local businesses say that we want changes , child care, want those changes, child care, lets get the childcare workforce. You know, theres so many things you can talk about, but i dont think tomorrows speech going the end of speech is going to be the end of it. I really see energy. So energy bunny from from what the pms doing at the moment. Okay. To just reflect on and to just reflect on Stephen Barclay the Health Secretarys speech this morning , he said he was challenging wokery in the health service. Now theresa may, the former Prime Minister, said she would be happy to be called woke. Are you walked . Okay, okay. Well, listen , i think theres a well, listen, i think theres a lot of selling going at lot of book selling going on at this particular conference, this this particular conference, as they will no doubt be the labour listen, labour party next week. Listen, i that that that that label means lots of Different Things to lots of different people. I think what i do reject is where if you weighed into an issue that people are worried about, for example statues being removed, we that problem in removed, we have that problem in stroud and you make a case because you passionately believe in protecting history and you just want the item explained rather than removed and you get called racists and things like that. I think that you should be able to make that case positively why you positively and explain why you want to do it without being given a label. But think given a label. But i think probably me in twitter , ive probably me in twitter, ive been called worse things than woke so far. Very good. And last question. You were a candidate. Obviously, youre a winning candidate at the last election, just 24 of tory candidates were women at the last general election. Now, your party chair , greg hands your party chair, greg hands chairman as you would describe him, he said he is concerned about the number of women being selected. He says hes looking selected. He says hes looking at different ways to do something about it. Why arent women standing and getting selected as conservative mps . Yeah, i mean, listen, im the first female mp for the stroud constituency since it was created in its current form. Created in its current form. Thats mad. That is absolutely mad. Theres great women locally, nationally that could have had the seat before me. Have had the seat before me. Women do need to come fonnard. Im glad that the Party Chairman is that the is talking about that on the floor of conference. I passionately do not agree with all women shortlists , which i all women shortlists, which i know other parties do. Ive fought two big, burly military blokes to get my seat. I beat them hands down. Theyre both mps in other seats at the moment. So i think weve got to be weve got to win our seats on on but the backroom work on merit. But the backroom work needs to be done. So the encouraging we know that women need to be asked a few times before they actually put their application in, whereas men will think, id like to be an mp and then do immediately. So then do it immediately. So thats evidenced. So i think thats evidenced. So i think that work that getting that backroom work that getting the women who the pipeline of women who are interested and, you know, actually falls to myself and people like you that have done the job to say that it is achievable, its achievable with things like families. Ive got two small kids. Its hard graft. Its in the neck. Its a pain in the neck sometimes. I love job. Sometimes. But i love the job. And it is something that id like lots of young women and women all come women of all ages to come fonnard for. Well, we always having well, we always enjoy having you on the show, siobhan, and on the fonnard you on the show, siobhan, and on the you fonnard you on the show, siobhan, and on the you to fonnard you on the show, siobhan, and on the you to hearing fonnard you on the show, siobhan, and on the you to hearing what nnard you on the show, siobhan, and on the you to hearing what the rd like you to hearing what the Prime Minister say Prime Minister has to say tomorrow. Thanks very much indeed, siobhan bailey, the conservative for stroud. Back conservative mp for stroud. Back to you in the studio for about 15 minutes. And then ill have a cabinet minister coming up for you soon. Okay, thanks very much. Well be timing you. Thank you very much. For quick coffee. We time for a quick coffee. We do. With us here on the do. Stay with us here on the live desk your coffee live desk with your coffee because live a because we will be live from a rally in manchester as the Health Secretary says that bma leadership is not on the side of change and not on the side of patients. Ulez. Patrick christys on gb news. Im gb news radio. Im gb news radio. Welcome back to the live desk where were going to take you back to manchester, not for the tory Party Conference. It is the latest in this continuing industrial action nhs consults saying they wont take any more strike action for four weeks, but only if the government gets round the table for negotiate options. However, Health Secretary Steve Barclay says the bma leadership is not on the side of change and not on the side of change and not on the side of change and not on the side of patients. Medics are urging ministers to end the deadlock and to enter talks through the Conciliation Service acas to resolve the longest ever joint action by Junior Doctors and consultants in england. Well, the bma is actually holding a rally outside the conference in manchester. Our reporter jack carson is there for us and jack, clearly weve got a huge gulf still where we had rishi sunak speaking to reporters this morning, saying that the government had tried , that the government had tried, tried time and time again to speak to the bma and that hadnt happened. And yet weve got the bma saying, look, weve been trying to get to the government to get round the table and theyre it. It seems theyre rejecting it. It seems as if they cant even agree on disagreeing. Well yeah, that disagreeing. Well yeah, that certainly seems like the case. Of course, its well over 100 days now since Steve Barclay last met officially with the British Medical Association. And of course, they very much would like him to come back to the table. And as you mentioned, rishi sunak has said that they have tried and theres been attempts, to out have tried and theres been atter or ts, to out have tried and theres been atteror how to out have tried and theres been atteror how there to out have tried and theres been atteror how there might out have tried and theres been atteror how there might be out have tried and theres been atteror how there might be a ut have tried and theres been atteror how there might be a way how or how there might be a way to these industrial to stop all of these industrial disputes. Of course, theres disputes. Of course, theres been strikes in the nhs since december. The nurses, of course , over a million of them now have accepted the governments pay have accepted the governments pay offers also. Then accepted those pay review those independent pay review bodies offer. But of course here today is this huge today there is this Huge National rally for the British Medical Association. Essentially what done is that what theyve done is that theyve told everyone that might well line across well be on a picket line across the country to get on one of the buses that theyve provided. And come here to manchester. Were surrounded , as can probably surrounded, as you can probably see by loads of see around me, by loads of hundreds, not going on a hundreds, if not going on a couple of thousand orange hats. Thats expected thats certainly the expected numbers here when the rally officially at around 1 00 officially starts at around 1 00 this were going to this afternoon. Were going to hear speeches from members , hear speeches from big members, of course, people of doctors of course, big people of doctors across the country, as well as, of course, officials within the British Association and British Medical Association. And of barclay today of course, Steve Barclay today in speech, making some in his speech, making some important announcements. One of those, course, on new medical those, of course, on new medical schools try and schools in order to try and train nhs doctors that of train more nhs doctors that of course from the picket line. I spoke at manchester royal spoke to at manchester Royal Infirmary yesterday and certainly some the certainly from some of the placards that here today as placards that are here today as well. One of the messages placards that are here today as wellthe one of the messages placards that are here today as wellthe people of the messages placards that are here today as wellthe people herele messages placards that are here today as wellthe people here in messages placards that are here today as wellthe people here in the sages that the people here in the doctors on strike worried doctors on strike are worried about. The about. Theyre worried about the future nhs and where future of the nhs and where these qualified doctors these newly qualified doctors are, theyre going to be are, whether theyre going to be retained so that retained within the nhs. So that certainly be welcome certainly might well be welcome news from the British Medical Association, well news from the british medical assonfrom 1, well news from the british medical assonfrom the well news from the british medical assonfrom the speeches well news from the british medical assonfrom the speeches today a hear from the speeches today a little bit of their little bit more of their thoughts on that. The Prime Minister jack, speaking earlier. You know , was was blaming the you know, was was blaming the length of the waiting list purely on purely on the strikes. But, of course, there was already a backlog before these strikes started happening. Strikes started happening. Yeah, of course. I mean, the that backlog has only ever increased under the last 13 years of conservative government. That that is a fact. Of course, the pandemic did increase that dramatically. But of course, rishi sunak saying that these industrial disputes are causing an increase to those waiting times. Of course, we know from the new data yesterday that million appointments that over a million appointments since to be since december have had to be rescheduled, but in new polling revealed yesterday of those, of course, waiting lists and who the blames 42 of people the public blames 42 of people blame the government for those waiting lists. Only 15 actually blame the doctors and nurses striking, although we have heard from hospitals across the country some patients have country that some patients have had to have operations cancelled, not but three cancelled, not twice, but three times. So rishi sunak certainly looking to the bma, of course, putting them as their number as the one reason why the number one reason why waiting have increased. Waiting lists have increased. But disagreeing that but the bma disagreeing that constantly. Phil banfield, of course, is the chairman constantly saying that, look, doctors dont want to be on strike and actually , you know, strike and actually, you know, they to be recognised as they want to be recognised as they want to be recognised as the skilled professionals. They are rishi sunak are and that rishi sunak shouldnt use the doctors as a scapegoat his own scapegoat for his own governments problems. Governments problems. We can hear that theyre in good voice behind you in good voice behind you there in manchester. Of outside manchester. Of course, outside the area. Youve the conference area. Youve clearly been talking to a lot of people there. Are you getting an indication that the Junior Doctors and the consultants are as one, that they speak with the same voice or is there a different appreciation of what theyre having to go through . Theyre having to go through . I think theres certainly an appreciation session with the senior consultants that theyre not necessarily that theyre patient necessarily , maybe top patient necessarily, maybe top of top of their agenda as a whole, as a whole. The united front as this very much seems to be here today. But for the be here today. But for the senior consultants , i think a senior consultants, i think a lot of their worries come down to the future of the nhs. I mean, one of the doctors i was speaking to yesterday is worried about those levels of retention for its them, for Junior Doctors. Its them, of study for of course, having to study for so long and increasing all those. Course, medical bills those. Of course, medical bills that feel that their that they feel that their salaries arent far salaries arent going far enough. Theres enough. So certainly theres different the two different issues within the two sides, but as you mentioned, the feeling that ive here feeling that ive got here is its very a united front. Okay, jack, thank you for updating us there in manchester. Fast becoming , of course, our fast becoming, of course, our health correspondent, it seems. Thanks for updating there. Thanks for updating us there. Now something completely different, a bit of light relief. And dont we all need it today . We have been expect meeting you, mr bond, or at least weve been expecting quite a your suits. What was a lot of your suits. What was that . A lot of your suits. What was that . Hundreds of items belonging to sir roger moore. Are going up for auction tomorrow in london with bond fans queuing up to see if they can buy a piece of zero seven film history and help one of sir rogers cherished charities. Well, the deputy chairman of the auctioneers, bonhams no less, allowed to spy on less, has allowed us to spy on the preparations for a celebration of a man who truly now seems to have created had a golden gun. So this year marks the 50th anniversary of sir roger playing james bond for the very first time in live and let die. James bond for the very first time in live and let die. And he time in live and let die. And he died, sadly , five years ago. And died, sadly, five years ago. And his family felt this was the right time to give his fans the world over a chance to bid on some of these lots. Well, there are so many unique items in this sale. And from james bond interest. I think for me , this interest. I think for me, this coat behind me, which is a chesterfield coat that he wore in his first film, live and let die. In fact, in the very first scene, you see him coming out of jfk airport wearing the coat and he gets in a taxi on his way to see the villain of the film, mr big, or one of the most important lots in sale is important lots in the sale is this james bond , omega this james bond, Omega Seamaster. Which is a seamaster. Watch which is a limited edition number, but its actually unique because it was given to sir roger on the 50th anniversary of the franchise by Barbara Broccoli and michael g. Wilson. And they are, of course , the producers of the bond franchise and engraved on the back of the strap actually says to roger with love from barbara and michael. Well, i think and michael. Well, i think everyone knows that sir roger moore was a very keen skier and hes involved in two of the great ski chases in bond bond history. This ski suit, i think, is just so iconic. It comes from is just so iconic. It comes from his last film , the view to a his last film, the view to a kill and its the opening sequence when he comes down the slope and hes chased by a bunch of guys on skis with guns and he skis and he snowboards and he ends up in a in a submarine at the end of it, the cabinet behind me are some really fun things from his 40th anniversary swatch watch collection in this wonderful 007 weve got his wonderful 007 case weve got his wallet with his bank cards in it and a couple of backgammon sets as well, one of which one beneath here in the red leather case, he would play on set with cubby broccoli. I understand , cubby broccoli. I understand, for high stakes. And they would sort of settle up at the end of the series. And if cubby was winning, he wouldnt let roger go back on set until theyd finished its some go back on set until theyd finish stories its some go back on set until theyd finish stories behind its some go back on set until theyd finish stories behind thats some Great Stories behind that and some games on the some great games played on the board. I imagine. Well, sir roger moore played james bond more other seven more than any other actor seven times between 1973 and 1985. And in my opinion, hes the best dressed of all the bonds and here we have one of the most iconic dinner suits that he wore. And this is from the view to a kill. He wore. And this is from the view to a kill. He wore it in the amazing scene at the eiffel tower where hes chasing after may day, played by grace jones. And they played by grace jones. And they go played by grace jones. And they 9 up played by grace jones. And they go up and then down the eiffel tower. Standing on a lift tower. Hes standing on a lift shaft and down. The Windsor Framework affecting the passage of goods from Northern Ireland to mainland britain and the eu with red and green lanes is now in place. But will it solve the post Brexit Border issues . Lets once again cross to conservative Party Conference in manchester and gloria depierro. Gloria hi pip. Im joined now by the Northern Ireland secretary , Northern Ireland secretary, chris heaton harris. Northern ireland secretary, chris heaton harris. Thanks for chris heaton harris. Thanks for your time today. Chris heaton harris. Thanks for your time today. Pleasure. Your time today. Pleasure. Theres been lots of speculation about whether theres going to be a Cabinet Meeting today to resolve this. Will they wont they . Hs2 . Question youre they . Hs2 . Question youre a cabinet minister. Are you having a meeting today . Well, its not in my diary, so either ive been fired without being told and theres a reshuffle going on. Or maybe its not happening. Or maybe its not happening. So i dont think its happening. Secretary of state , theres secretary of state, theres been a lot of good announcements that could have come out of this conference, but its been drowned you know, youve drowned out. So you know, youve had towns funding had your towns funding announcements. Youve had your increase in the minimum wage announcement. But all everyones talking is what is going talking about is what is going on with its a bit on with hs2. Its a bit unfortunate, this unfortunate, isnt it, this indecision or this of indecision or this lack of transparent rac if a decision has been made . Yeah, well, i mean, firstly, there has been a lot of good news and the, you know, the 55 towns getting to 20,000,000 million. Yeah is im giving you that but its been drowned out but you know there is a there is a conversation going on at this point in time. I mean i work with rishi sunak on the Windsor Framework stuff. I know how you know how considerate he is, how detailed stuff. I know how you know how corgoes. 1te he is, how detailed he goes. He gets the details. He gets all the details. He gets all the details. Considers everything. He considers everything. He considers everything. Thoughtful man. Hes a very thoughtful man. Hes a very thoughtful man. To make the right he wants to make the right decisions for decisions in the long term for the and so hes not the country and so hes not going to be bounced into making any on any premature decisions on anything quite sure anything. And im quite sure that if theres a conversation going on hs2, hell be considering it in the same way. And you mentioned, ed, the new Northern Ireland trade rules. You said theyd work unbelievably well today. The dup mp sammy wilson says youre talking rubbish. Talking rubbish. Yeah, well, i mean, i dont think i am. Sammy is a great man and i appreciate his views , but and i appreciate his views, but i think he might be wrong on this one. And all people have to do is actually look at all the lorries going about their normal business they head to business as they head from gb to into Northern Ireland or from Northern Ireland back into Great Britain i can britain to i think i can demonstrate point. Demonstrate my point. The left wing magazine, the political magazine, the new statesman, theyve had a list of the influential people on the most influential people on on the right in british politics, british sunak is not taken the number one spot. Hes actually been ranked as number two. The new statesman, say nigel farage is the most influential politician on the right wing politicians because othennise. Othennise. Oh, thank god for that. Well then, well, i mean, i was a member of the European Parliament with nigel farage and we campaigned on the issue. We campaigned on the same issue. Brexit conservative is the Brexit Conservative Party is the issueis Brexit Conservative Party is the issue is the is the party that delivered brexit. So as one of your fellow presenters, maybe hes just here for a party that actually gets on and does the right thing. Right thing. Liz truss is of course making a bit of a splash. She had that a bit of a splash. She had that sort of packed out meeting yesterday, 630 of your mps, conservative mps have joined in this new tory faction on on growth. Why does there need to be a separate faction , a be a separate faction, a separate conservative mp grouping on on growth . Theres Interest Groups on just about everything in all the parties. I just about everything in all the parties. I mean, im pretty sure youd have been when you were a labour mp, you were part labour mp, you were a part of, you faction or you know, a different faction or two it were. I dont even see two as it were. I dont even see them factions. Theyre just them as factions. Theyre just interest come Interest Groups that come together. We bond around Different Things. Was Different Things. And i was chairman of the European Research group , a group of research group, a group of people from all wings of my party that were interested in our relationship with the european it doesnt european union. So it doesnt mean relaxed, youre mean youre relaxed, youre relaxed, relaxed relaxed, completely relaxed about that. Yeah. Relaxed, completely relaxed abookay. T. Yeah. Relaxed, completely relaxed abookay. Giveah. Relaxed, completely relaxed abookay. Give us a sneak preview okay. Give us a sneak preview then. Prime minister then. Rishi sunak Prime Minister , hes going to wow the conference hall. The country is what how is he going what you hope. How is he going to do it . Yeah, well, i think hes going talk about his long going to talk about his long term for country that term vision for the country that hes going take tough hes going to take the tough decisions as weve demonstrated, over hes got this over net zero. And hes got this countrys best interests at the very heart of everything he is doing. And as i say, i work with him on the Windsor Framework. I know what rishi sunak can do. Know what rishi sunak can do. Hes a great politician. Hes very thoughtful. Will get very thoughtful. He will get these right for us. These decisions right for us. Heaton harris , northern chris heaton harris, Northern Ireland secretary, thanks for joining. Thank you. Joining us today. Thank you. Back you, pip and mark, back to you, pip and mark, gloria, thank you. And apologies if you spotted the idiot in the background making some rather unsavoury gestures to camera. There yeah, beyond our control. Im afraid, because obviously we have got our stage there. But clearly people are able to come and go as they please at conference. So our apologies for that intervention. There in manchester. Lets bring you some breaking news. Were getting from press Association Reporter noting that the planned strikes by underground staff due by London Underground staff due tomorrow and friday have been called off, according to the rmt union, no word yet, though, on the train action with aslef, the Train Drivers Union of course, threatening action tomorrow as well. Yeah , they are timing the yeah, they are timing the walkout to coincide with the conservative Party Conference. Maybe we hear something maybe we will hear something from them today, but so far the rmt are saying that their strikes, which are by London Underground workers tomorrow and on friday, they are not now happening. Theyve been called off. Now the prince and princess of wales are in cardiff celebrating the 75th anniversary of hmt empire. Windrush arriving in the uk and also marking the start of black history month. William and catherine are visiting cardiff to meet members of the Windrush Generation and celebrate the work of Diverse Community groups trying to bring about more positive changes in wales. Well lets get more with our royal correspondent cameron walker, joining us in the studio and reflecting that. Some pictures there we saw some pictures there with excited with some very excited school kids , lots of cheering, lots of kids, lots of cheering, lots of flags, a bit of a hit. They certainly are. Mean, they certainly are. I mean, theyre celebrities, theyre almost celebrities, really, theyre almost celebrities, reai people theyre almost celebrities, reaipeople scream and cheer when people scream and cheer when they see the and princess they see the prince and princess of indeed member of of wales or indeed any member of the family really. We do the royal family really. We do expect of course, a expect them, of course, to do a bit you can see bit of walkabout. You can see the princess. Shes got a real affinity with kids, though, isnt she . Shes got a real affinity witiyeah, though, isnt she . Shes got a real affinity witiyeah, she ugh, isnt she . Shes got a real affinity witiyeah, she certainly she . Shes got a real affinity witiyeah, she certainly does. Yeah, she certainly does. Yeah, she certainly does. Three ones. Got three young ones. Got three young ones. But three well, this is true, but three young well, this is true, but three you but also its her passion but also its her passion talking about the early years and children 0 to 5 and how that can affect your chances later on in you can see how kind of in life. You can see how kind of comfortable they chatting to comfortable they are chatting to children, but noticing children, but im noticing a pattern with the prince and princess wales over the last princess of wales over the last few and its the fact few months, and its the fact that they keep going back to wales obviously clues wales and obviously the clues in prince and in the title. Prince and princess wales. But theres princess of wales. But theres im sense from im getting the sense from kensington that there is Kensington Palace that there is a drive to really get the a real drive to really get the welsh people and different Welsh Community is to trust and engage with the future king and queen. So im told that they really want to deepen the relationship with wales by understanding different communities and want to act as ambassadors for to act as ambassadors orders for its people and communities. So over the last six months, lets say they have been to aberfan , say they have been to aberfan, where the village in wales where that tragic 1966 yeah, fell down and engulfed a school. They and engulfed a school. They visited the search and rescue teams at bannau bridgend National Park. Prince williams been to the welsh senate, of course. They chose to spend the course. They chose to spend the anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth ii in wales as well. And now theyre here celebrating the Windrush Generation. Yeah, its interesting for cardiff because weve got tiger bay, is of areas bay, which is one of those areas where that post war generation who came in from elsewhere in the commonwealth and the empire, they settled there on the waterfront in cardiff. Yeah 1948, the caribbean communities came over to britain to essentially rebuild. Its following the Second World War and the whole point of the windrush 75 is really celebrate the contribution that those communities and their descendants have made in national life, particularly in wales. Of course, youve, youve, youve mentioned that bay there, the grange pavilion , bay there, the grange pavilion, the prince and princess are visiting specifically. And its an boys club thats been an Old Boys Club thats been converted a community converted into a community centre, which which which really serves these communities in particular. Its got a cafe , but particular. Its got a cafe, but also employment and training, opportunity for young people. I understand the prince and princess will be spending time with elders who perhaps remember the Windrush Windrush happening in the 1948 and 50s, but also young people a couple of generations down the line and the kind of opportunities that those young people have in cardiff in terms of employment and training to really get on in life. So the prince and princess really shining a spotlight here on this particular community in cardiff. Lets also remember that they did live in wales , didnt they, did live in wales, didnt they, dunng did live in wales, didnt they, during the early years of his of their marriage. Yeah. And in anglesey. Yeah. And in anglesey. Thats right. In anglesey. Thats right. In anglesey. Yeah. Yeah. They we yeah. Yeah. They did. So we believe Prince George spent a bit time there, to bit of time there, did try to get away from the cameras when Prince George was very, very young away young and was just born away from london. Really enjoyed from london. They really enjoyed spending time there. Prince william was a search and rescue helicopter right in the middle of it as well. So they really do have connection with have a deep connection with anglesey. But of course , this is anglesey. But of course, this is cardiff. And they knew that one day they would the prince cardiff. And they knew that one day princess1ld the prince cardiff. And they knew that one day princess1ld wales. The prince cardiff. And they knew that one day princess1ld wales. Ande prince cardiff. And they knew that one day princess1ld wales. And this1ce cardiff. And they knew that one detheincessnld wales. And this1ce cardiff. And they knew that one dethe proof;|ld wales. And this1ce cardiff. And they knew that one dethe proof in i wales. And this1ce cardiff. And they knew that one dethe proof in i wepudding. This1ce is the proof in the pudding. They want to keep coming back and with welsh communities. Yeah, and likely see yeah, and were likely to see king and queen a little later as well. King jumping the gun or am i king jumping the gun or no . We can we can say we will hopefully see some pictures of the king. He has been out and aboutin the king. He has been out and about in aberdeenshire today. Im going reveal yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be going reveal yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be a|oing reveal yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be a bitg reveal yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be a bit furthereal yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be a bit further north. Yet about in aberdeenshire today. Im be a bit further north. Ayet but be a bit further north. A bit further north. Yeah, its understood staying at understood hes staying at birkhall. As as im birkhall. Im not as far as im aware. Were expected to see aware. Were not expected to see the today, but im sure the queen today, but im sure therell engagements. Therell be other engagements. You back in therell be other engagements. Studio you back in therell be other engagements. Studio for you back in therell be other engagements. Studio for that you back in therell be other engagements. Studio for that little back in the studio for that little later. Cameron. Thank you. A key second phase of the covid 19 Public Inquiry launches today with the chair baroness hallett saying families who lost loved ones during the covid 19 pandemic will not be ignored. For the latest we have is that rishi sunak has told the inquiry hes unable to provide his whatsapp messages from his time as chancellor during the pandemic hes failed to pandemic as hes failed to back up those messages as well. Lets speak now to charles passenger who lost both mother and wife within six weeks of each other in 2021, after they both contracted the virus. Thanks contracted the virus. Thanks very much indeed for joining contracted the virus. Thanks very much indeed forjoining us once again. I know youve shared your story with us on gb news very often, but clearly the baroness, the chair , is saying baroness, the chair, is saying that we need to learn more details for you and others about what was done at this very early stage of the pandemic. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, i think its vital that we do learn the lessons. I think an important part of thatis i think an important part of that is allowing more bereaved families and the people who suffered the worst impacts of the virus to actually have voices in the inquiry. Want your voice to say , want your voice to say, because clearly, in terms of the inquiry itself was to learn lessons and make sure, if anything, god forbid, happened again. The government would be better. Prepared yeah, better. Prepared yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I think its vital, you know, that the bereaved families voices are part of that process. Without our voices, those lessons will never be fully learned. I think its important that the inquiry listens to the families and those people infected are impacted. The most by this virus and this pandemic i lake charles, one of the things the covid inquiry will be looking at is those sporting events which took place in march, just as covid was was was running rife in in parts of italy, for example, i think theyd just started a lockdown in northern italy. And yet these huge sporting events, the rugby was taking place, there was horse racing, tens of thousands of spectators. When you look back at that period and were you stunned that those events were still going ahead. Still going ahead. I was absolutely mortified at the time. I knew that it would actually lead to more of a disaster, more deaths, more people suffering the long term effects of covid. So, yeah, it was absolutely reckless on the behalf of the government. I behalf of the government. I dont feel they took the medical medications appropriate and they didnt take the steps to protect the country or the people. And, the country or the people. And, you know, we knew social distancing was a huge part of this. And basically what they did is encourage crowds to gather in the middle of a pandemic. Its totally reckless i and is there any way that you can understand their behaviour in that they perhaps did not fully appreciate what the scientists were saying, that , scientists were saying, that, you know, you get scientists warning, but until you obviously see it taking place , its very see it taking place, its very difficult to take on board. The last few minutes i would suggest that, yeah, they didnt understand. Maybe they didnt listen to some of the scientific advice they were given. Yeah, i think there was a lot of financial concerns that come above the well being and health of the nafion well being and health of the nation , and i think thats nation, and i think thats basically led to the tragic place we are today. Place we are today. And as this inquiry goes on, charles, do you in a sort of strange sort of way, find it quite, quite a comfort, quite cathartic for you . Three years. On i think its important to find out the truth, to learn the lessons we need to learn at the end of the day, we need to do better in the future. You know, whether people like it or not, there are going to be more pandemics coming in the future. Were still the of were still in the middle of a pandemic, far as im pandemic, as far as im concerned. And, you know, the concerned. And, you know, the messaging from the government media isnt really on media still isnt really on point. It needs to be point. And it needs to be improved on hopefully thats something that the inquiry will highlight in the future and well do better in the future. Charles, i hope you dont mind me asking you another personal because personal question because obviously when we about obviously when we talk about these it becomes these things, it becomes sometimes a of an academic sometimes a bit of an academic exercise. I just wanted ask exercise. I just wanted to ask you how youre doing and how things are because you said it was a case of when. Well, ill be honest , its well, ill be honest, its frustrating. Its an uphill struggle. I hope weve planted struggle. I hope weve planted the seeds to create a Better Future for all of the uk. The seeds to create a Better Future for all of the uk. I the seeds to create a Better Future for all of the uk. I hope future for all of the uk. I hope the inquest will learn the lessons and do better in the future i still have hope and i wont stop fighting for the families that deserve the answers. And thats what keeps you and others going. I guess with some of the more draconian measures. Sorry , i guess thats what sorry, i guess thats what keeps you and others going. Pandemic would things have been better . Well, yeah, we have to do better. At the end of the day, i think the whole country deserves better weve you better than what weve seen. You know, hopefully this is a step towards a more open , honest towards a more open, honest society. Where the public gets society. Where the public gets to learn the truth. You know, we deserve the truth, charles, as even deserve the truth, charles, as ever, thanks for sharing your thoughts and your story with us on gb news once more. Thank you for your time. Our Political Editor, Christopher Hope asks rishi sunak want sunak the questions you want answering. Well you answering. Well bring you the full here on full interview right here on the livealso, the covid questions. Also, the covid questions. Just why large scale just why were large scale sporting permitted sporting events permitted as the disease across uk . Disease ran rife across the uk . Were todays crucial were live from todays crucial stage hallett. Inquiry. Were live from plus, were live from a bma rally in manchester as doctors call on ministers to end the deadlock risk walkouts deadlock or risk walkouts running into the winter. Speaking earlier, the Health Secretary bmas secretary says the bmas leadership is not on the side of patient choice. Patient choice. Good afternoon. The conservative Party Conference is being dominated by questions over the future of the northern leg of hs2. But there are other hs2. But there are other pressing issues for the Prime Minister to deal with if hes to convince voters that his party is worthy of winning another term in government. Well, earlier, the Prime Minister spoke to our Political Editor, chris hope amid , of editor, chris hope amid, of course, conference course, that conference threatened derailed by the threatened to be derailed by the issue hs2 and the reaction of issue of hs2 and the reaction of former tory Prime Ministers to. But sunak spoke on a but rishi sunak spoke on a variety of issues, including whether hed welcome nigel farage as a conservative mp. Farage as a conservative mp. What do you stand for . What do you stand for . I stand for doing the right thing for the country in the long term, not taking the easy way out. I think thats the change that people want to see in their politics. Thats the change that im to bring. In their politics. Thats the charyouhat im to bring. In their politics. Thats the charyou sawim to bring. In their politics. Thats the charyou saw that to bring. In their politics. Thats the charyou saw that with to bring. In their politics. Thats the charyou saw that with my|ring. And you saw that with my decision zero. I did decision on net zero. I did something that thought something that i thought was right. Was a big right. You know, it was a big decision. People are decision. And look, people are going for that. Going to criticise me for that. But that what were but i thought that what were doing, the path were on, is going families. Going to cost ordinary families. 5 to 10, £15,000. 5 to 10, £15,000. Didnt was i didnt think that was right. Hit our targets we can hit our targets without doing those things. Out out so i went out and set out a new realistic approach. And thats youre going to see thats what youre going to see from me. Thats the of from me. Thats the type of leadership youre to get leadership youre going to get from how from me, because thats how were change, just politics. Thats how were going to change our country for the better. You mentioned zero there. Better. Inu mentioned zero there. Better. Inu mepresszd zero there. Better. In u me press conference there. Better. Inu mepress conference last . In that press conference last week, lack week, you said that a lack of concern, risks for concern, it risks support for net zero. Why not give mps vote . Why not give mps a vote . Why not give mps a vote . They never voted before. They never voted before. Zero, have they . They never voted before. Well, ero, have they . They never voted before. Well, actually, they . Vote well, actually, mps do vote on carbon budgets on these carbon budgets which decide going to decide how much were going to reduce carbon emissions. And one the i and one of the things i pointed in my new approach pointed out in my new approach to is weve got to be to net zero is weve got to be more around that. More transparent around that. When happens in when that vote happens again in the so i very the future. So when i said very clearly, when vote on the clearly, when mps vote on the amount that amount of carbon reduction that were going alongside were to going do alongside that, they should be considering all the measures that are required that carbon required to deliver that carbon reduction. Of reduction. Thats the kind of honesty and transparency that politicians the politicians should have with the country. This kind country. I didnt like this kind of westminster consensus that all cooked of westminster consensus that all over cooked of westminster consensus that all over here. Cooked of westminster consensus that all over here. Werentzd up over here. People werent being with the country being open with the country about required. Being open with the country aboit required. Being open with the country aboi wanted required. Being open with the country aboi wanted to required. Being open with the country aboi wanted to change d. Being open with the country aboi wanted to change that and i wanted to change that and look could see there look and as you could see there were criticised were people who criticised me for made. For the decision i made. But going to do what i but im going to do what i believe is right for the long term of country. Im not term of this country. Im not going take easy way out. Going to take the easy way out. Thats approach to leadership. Time last you this time last year, you werent are werent Prime Minister. You are now. It feel to be at how does it feel to be at a conference when most members didnt vote for you . Conference. The im the conference. The spirit of conference is great. You been and spirit of conference is great. You talking been and spirit of conference is great. You talking to een and spirit of conference is great. You talking to members,d about talking to members, talking people talking to colleagues. People have spring their step. Have a spring in their step. They making they can see that were making progress. When i first became pm, out immediate pm, i sent out five immediate priorities halving priorities to focus on halving inflation. Inflation is coming down, really down, stopping the boats really important. Numbers this important. And the numbers this year down by a fifth. First year are down by a fifth. First time happened that time thats happened that someones brought the numbers down. Working down. So those plans are working and responding well and people are responding well to what were doing. New approach on net zero, increasing the National Living wage for 2 million low paid people today. Jades law making sure that all full criminals who murder their partners dont have any rights over their children. That over their children. That obviously is not common sense. Were that and were changing that and crucially, supporting people in towns. Live in towns towns. More people live in towns in than live in big in our country than live in big cities to get all the attention from westminster politicians, im changing that. Were giving people 55 towns across people in towns 55 towns across the a billion pounds long the uk a billion pounds long term funding and putting local people in charge of how to spend that so theres that money. So look, theres lots going on. Lots of good stuff going on. Is it right, good stuff is it right, though, on that nurses and though, on tax that nurses and teachers paying the teachers will be paying the higher income tax by higher rate of income tax by 2027 forecasts . 2027 on current forecasts . Look, im a conservative. 2027 on current forecasts . Everyone a conservative. 2027 on current forecasts . Everyone here nservative. 2027 on current forecasts . Everyone here nsethis ve. Everyone here at this conference taxes conference wants to see taxes come down. Of course we do. So where is the question . So where is the question . The best the best tax cut i can deliver for people is to halve inflation. Its inflation that making difficult that is making life difficult for for for nurses, for teachers, for everyone you talked everyone else that you talked about why the first about. And thats why the first of five priorities to of my five priorities is to halve inflation. You ever halve inflation. Have you ever had yourself . Of had a mortgage yourself . Of course have. And its exactly course i have. And its exactly why i want feel pain, why i want it to feel the pain, the peoples the burden on peoples mortgages. We do that . If mortgages. How do we do that . If we restrain inflation, then interest up Interest Rates can stop going up and right . And start coming down, right . Thats straightfonnard. Economics right . Thats the best way to help people. And way for me to help people. And the is working. When i came the plan is working. When i came into office, inflation at into office, inflation was at 11. Getting it down. The 11. We are getting it down. The last few numbers show that the plan is working. And just as margaret as Margaret Thatcher did, just as nigel did, those are nigel lawson did, those are proud conservatives. Im following in their tradition. Get inflation down because inflation is the evil that we must defeat. And good things will flow from that other weekend. Weekend. Cabinet ministers, your three cabinet ministers, your colleague said that echr withdrawal should be on the table. It . Well, what . Is it . Well, what . Is it . Well, what . Of us completely all of us are completely agreed on stopping the agreed on is that stopping the boats a priority. And thats boats is a priority. And thats why priorities is why one of my five priorities is to boats. Were doing to stop the boats. Were doing a lot of things bring that lot of things to bring that about. And i really want all your this. For your viewers to know this. For the First Time Since small boats become a thing, the numbers are down year. Let me just say down this year. Let me just say that again. They down. They that again. They are down. They are by a fifth. Right. That are down by a fifth. Right. That hasnt happened else in hasnt happened anywhere else in europe. Because of europe. Theyre down because of all the europe. Theyre down because of all deal the europe. Theyre down because of all deal i the europe. Theyre down because of all deal i signed the europe. Theyre down because of all deal i signed with the europe. Theyre down because of all deal i signed with albania , new deal i signed with albania, weve returned almost 3000 Illegal Migrants to albania and you know what . Theyve stopped coming. Thats why we need to coming. Thats why we need to get rwanda up and running now. I am confident that the plans weve in place will work. Weve got in place will work. They will deliver. Theyve got a lot do. Of course, weve got lot to do. Of course, weve got a do. But this is a huge a lot to do. But this is a huge priority me were making priority for me and were making a now. A difference now. Will you ever stop boats . A difference now. Asll you ever stop boats . A difference now. Asll said, ver stop boats . A difference now. Asll said, zverthep boats . A difference now. Asll said, verthe first boats . A difference now. Asll said, verthe first time s . As i said, for the first time even as i said, for the first time ever, for the first ever, ever, for the first time ever, the numbers yes, they the numbers are down. Yes, they are a fifth. They didnt are down by a fifth. They didnt happen by accident. That happened because were doing a bunch deal bunch of things and you deal with tackling crime with albania tackling crime gangsin with albania tackling crime gangs in upstream different gangs in upstream in different parts europe. Look, my view parts of europe. Look, my view on simple. It should be on this is simple. It should be the british people who decide on this is simple. It should be the british jt0 ple who decide on this is simple. It should be the british jto our who decide on this is simple. It should be the british jto our country ide on this is simple. It should be the british jto our country and not who comes to our country and not criminal gangs. And you know what . To other european what . I talk to other european leaders out and leaders a lot when im out and about. They increasingly seeing that to the conversation on this in europe has changed. When i set out my stall on this eight months again, lots of months ago, again, lots of people what people criticised me. But what youre from of youre seeing now from lots of other the other european leaders is the acknowledgement what said acknowledgement that what i said is all is right. They are all recognising that it needs be recognising that it needs to be our countries are in our countries that are in control comes to us, not control of who comes to us, not gangs. And we need to have systems that that possible. Systems that make that possible. So then, britain so as i said then, where britain leads others will follow and youre seeing that thats now happening. You may have noticed that nigel farage is wandering around your conference first time in decades. Would you have him back as a member of the tory party, the tory is a very broad tory party is a very broad church, right . Tory party is a very broad chui h, right . Tory party is a very broad chui welcome lots of people i welcome lots of people who want to subscribe to our ideals, to right . And look, want to subscribe to our ideals, to thing right . And look, want to subscribe to our ideals, to thing i right . And look, want to subscribe to our ideals, to thing i care ght . And look, want to subscribe to our ideals, to thing i care about. Nd look, the thing i care about is delivering the and delivering for the country. And the as ive seen the more people, as ive seen at this got this conference, weve got record i think record attendance. I think at this lots of energy, this conference, lots of energy, lots of engagement. People are responding well were responding well to what were doing. Were making the right responding well to what were doingterm re making the right responding well to what were doingterm decisions| the right long term decisions for the country. Bring country. We want to bring change. What im about. Change. Thats what im about. The with labour could the contrast with labour could not clearer. Youve got keir not be clearer. Youve got keir starmer, know, no one starmer, who you know, no one knows what he stands for. Flip flops left right. The flops left and right. The country can see through that. Thats not leadership. What im offering is different. Know offering is different. I know people the people want change. Im the person deliver because person to deliver it because were politics were going to do politics differently. On net differently. You saw that on net zero. Youll see that this week. Thats you from thats what you get from a conservative government. Minister, you. Prime minister, thank you. Prime minister, thank you. Very much. Thank you. Thanks very much. Thank you. Thanks very much. Did you make that . So what did you make of that . The minister claiming that so what did you make of that . Theleadershipiister claiming that so what did you make of that . Theleadership will claiming that so what did you make of that . Theleadership will beiiming that his leadership will be characterise by long term decisions and the conservative partys broad Church Approach also high on his agenda, was repeating that halving inflation is the best tax cut. Hes government could deliver. Government could deliver. But of course all eyes and ears will be on his set piece speech at the Conference Tomorrow with the news agenda being dominated by that issue of hs2 and the government may hs2 and what the government may or not do. Well, our or may not do. Well, our Political Editor Christopher Hope joins more from hope joins us once more from manchester another manchester with another interview. Christopher interview. It seems christopher ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha. Hello, mark. Hi, pippa. Yeah, that was fascinating, wasnt it . We kind of stayed away from hs2 in that chat because hes hes been endlessly that been asked endlessly about that all long. There. All morning long. No news there. Maybe tomorrow. But i maybe more tomorrow. But i thought it was fascinating to hear there about the hear him talk there about the issue and whether issue of consent and whether people, mps, should vote on this idea watering down these net idea of watering down these net zero targets. Me is zero targets. That for me is a complete the labour complete trap for the labour party if you can get a vote on the plans. He announced in number 10 downing street a few few ago, he will then force few days ago, he will then force a real dividing the a real dividing line with the labour labels. Labour labour party labels. Labour hell theyll be saying the tories will say that labour wants ban these petrol wants to ban these new petrol and diesel cars in 2030 with the tories. You can buy them until 2035 youre fascinating. New 2035 and youre fascinating. New dividing. And end dividing line. And at the end there, interestingly i, our colleague gb news nigel colleague at gb news nigel farage raj back at this Party Conference the first time in conference for the first time in 30 years, i to the 30 years, i said to the throwaway line, would you like to you allow nigel to join . Would you allow nigel farage tory party expecting farage into tory party expecting a no, he said, were a broad church. Extraordinary and with me now is that man himself. What a great question, chris. What a great question, chris. Well, i mean, before i arrived here yesterday day, people saying, would they people were saying, would they even me in through the front even let me in through the front door . Saying, would door . Now youre saying, would you the party . You let me in the party . Would you yes no . Come would you yes or no . Come on. Well, exclusive well, well. Exclusive what party . What party . You it . What . Will you join it . What . Will you join it . What . I want to join a party thats put the tax rate up to the highest over 70 years. Highest in over 70 years. Allowed net that has allowed net migration to run at over half a million year. Is million a year. That is not used. Deregulate and help brexit to deregulate and help small businesses. Knows. Youre no, no one knows. But youre here a journalist. Here as a journalist. Youre here talking about things tories things during the tories do things during the tories do things well. I tell what, things well. I tell you what, i achieved a more outside of achieved a lot more outside of the party ever could the tory party than i ever could have done from within it. And. And actually, you know what here are ideas what im seeing here are ideas that ive talked about, you know, from 2019 when net zero was passed into law without even a without a vote, crucial. A without a vote, crucial. Ive said the agenda is mad. Ive said the agenda is mad. Its unfair if youre going to do this to us, we should have a referendum on it. Ive been arguing about echr it should have been part of the brexit deal. So what saying, brexit deal. So what im saying, chris wing of the chris im saying a wing of the conservative who are now conservative party who are now basically what been basically saying what ive been saying many , thats saying for many, many, thats why want you in why they want you back in and so. So. So. Well, half the party, half the would in the the party would love me in the other would blackball me. Other half would blackball me. At moment, but look, at the moment, i, i wouldnt know what party it is. Ask him the pm i did ask him the pm personally. Want to have personally. Do you want to have a referendum on net zero two weeks ago in that press conference weve had conference and he said weve had enough mean it enough referendums. I mean it was i was so scarred by by the one part had one you were part of. Weve had 16 of people a 16 of the people having a different view to westminster. Ever i mean, would brexit ever have without have happened without a referendum . The answer is no. And we referendums net and if we had referendums on net migration figures on net zero figures, get very, very figures, we would get very, very different answers. And its different answers. And its happening in australia right now where the Australian Government have a referendum have put fonnard a referendum that to lose very, that theyre about to lose very, very the centre very heavily. The Centre Ground of Public Opinion this of Public Opinion in this country actually is a common sense view on most things and i dont think our mps or most of our Mainstream Media have ever been more detached from Public Opinion than they are of course is this Prime Minister was not voted in by the members. He was voted not to be here, but he is here. First time i had asked about that and he he asked him about that and he he said, well, its good to be here. Said it here. And he said brushed it off. Asked particularly off. I asked him particularly also about the of echr also about the issue of echr withdrawal, the European Convention now, convention of human rights. Now, three said it three qatar ministers said it would table in would be on the table in interviews weekend. That would be on the table in intervieits weekend. That would be on the table in intervieits an weekend. That would be on the table in intervieits an agreed kend. That would be on the table in intervieits an agreed line. That would be on the table in intervieits an agreed line by1at means its an agreed line by downing street. If more than one says it is agreed and theyll fudge wouldnt there. Fudge it, he wouldnt go there. He to the he he said, referred to the small and small boats issue and how theyve cut the numbers over the channel by 20. Whats your view . Will the tory party or should they they in fact fight they should they in fact fight on a policy withdrawal at on on a policy of withdrawal at the election small boats . By way, its only down by the way, its only down about weve had the worst about 18. Weve had the worst summer in its all about summer in years. Its all about whether if we as bad as last summer, the weathers been. No, because the weathers been so bad. Thats why the last few days have been calm. Weve had, days have been calm. Weve had, what, 1300 come in the last four days. So i wouldnt any of days. So i wouldnt buy any of that. For one moment. In that. Not for one moment. In fact, yesterday, 500 came on echr withdrawal on echr the big one, of course , they will put one, of course, they will put fonnard at the next election. Were to going renegotiate with the echr and give you a better deal the echr and give you a better deal. And if we dont get one, well withdraw. Thats what well withdraw. Thats what theyll tell the british public. Its rather like brexit. They wont go the whole way, but to me, to me, this should have been part of leaving the european institutions and i tell you what, if we had a referendum on that, i know the result already. Do you see it as a second the second part of that brexit vote . Much so. Very much vote very much so. Very much so. Complete. So. Brexit will not be complete. All while were under the all the while were under the auspices ridicule call auspices of that ridicule call because now were stuck with this in this rwanda case being stuck in the court. We saw this, we . One we saw this, didnt we . One judge, so called judge, an judge, one so called judge, an unknown, unknown judge unknown and not even legally and probably not even legally qualified. Dont know that. Qualified. We dont know that. Well, we do know is most well, what we do know is most people court are people on the European Court are not. Not judges. Theyre jurists. Theyre jurists. Theyre jurists. Theyre jurists. Theyre not even legally, as we understand judges in our country, is different farce and inflation. I asked them about if he had a mortgage. He has had one wasnt able to say, have you got one now . Maybe given the got one now . Maybe not given the amount homes hes got in amount of homes hes got in yorkshire he called yorkshire and london, he called inflation evil. Thats a big word in politics. Its the evil. We must, must defeat. And would you why doesnt he replace the governor of the bank of england . Replace the governor of the bank of [because some us were because when some of us were screaming halligan screaming Liam Halligan in particular, with him. Particular, i was with him. We were two years ago were screaming two years ago from the sidelines in inflation is run away. You need is about to run away. You need to Interest Rates. And to raise Interest Rates. And andrew governor of andrew bailey, the governor of the england, sole the bank of england, whose sole job half £1 million a year job for half £1 million a year is to control inflation, said inflation is not happening. Then inflation is not happening. Then it happens. Its transitory , and it happens. Its transitory, and suddenly they start to put up the Interest Rates at the very moment when we shouldnt be doing have been very doing it. We have been very badly let down by fca when badly let down by the fca when it comes to banking and by the bank england. Bank of england. Kwarteng had the kwasi Kwasi Kwarteng had the governor sights, didnt governor in his sights, didnt he, became chancellor he, when he became chancellor just ago. They just over a year ago. And they all felt went away from that. Is he sunak play safe with everything his everything you know, to his credit, hes probably got the best of any prime best intellect of any Prime Minister for decades. I dont think hes a thoroughly decent, nice man. A decent man, theres he is a decent man, theres no about that. He is a decent man, theres no but about that. He is a decent man, theres no but abo haveit. He is a decent man, theres no but abo have that killer but does he have that Killer Instinct seeing more instinct that im seeing more political stuff him . Political stuff from him . This stuff, this i think this stuff, this this vote zero will be vote on on net zero will be dividing because party dividing line because the party will to it the next will be able to do it the next election. Labour mps election. The labour mps want you not it. Election. The labour mps want you but1ot it. Election. The labour mps want you but ift it. Election. The labour mps want you but if hes it. Election. The labour mps want you but if hes got the guts to but if hes got the guts to do it, i mean, yes, i agree with you. I mean, its political, its good. I mean, the its good. I mean, even the traffic stuff over 20 mile an hour Everything Else, hour zones and Everything Else, why stop the ulez why didnt they stop the ulez extension . That. Well, in fact, the government has written to town how has written to town saying how are to with how has written to town saying how are you to with how has written to town saying how are you going to with how has written to town saying how are you going to bringnith how has written to town saying how are you going to bring down ow are you going to bring down emissions in parts of the country . So forcing almost. Country . So forcing them almost. Place so theyre all over the place. Theyre all over the place. And think whilst done and i think whilst he has done some good things, talking about traffic it looks traffic net zero, it all looks a bit reactive. Chris yeah , i bit reactive. Chris yeah, i think, i think it is. But i think we are seeing finally a bit of kind of red, red tooth and claw from a a pm whos been ten months quite operational, quite coo, not chairman, that kind of thing , chairman, that kind of thing, but to overturn a 20 point lead, right. Its down to ten now if you believe that keeping outlier whatever. But to overturn that is going to need something very bold very decisive. I just bold, very decisive. I just dont see that as being part of his personality in this big spoon. Were looking now into the speech tomorrow. Rumours of a of a on vaping throwaway a ban on vaping or the throwaway vapes. Big state bans. Vapes. More big state bans. I mean we heard liz truss yesterday didnt we saying stop banning stuff be the party of not stuff. Not banning stuff. Mean this is this is the i mean this is this is the most unconservative Party Government in history. Theyve put taxes up, the stake gets bigger. We get surveilled by cameras wherever we go. It cameras wherever we go. It doesnt reduce crime at all. They remove our choice. Im sick of nanny big state governments. This is not weve weaned onto it by this conservative government as a social democrat. They have had two big black swan events, events that werent forecast. Of course, covid 19 and the war in ukraine, neither of which were forecast at all. And thats billion more and thats £500 billion more cost country. And so they cost this country. And so they would say thats why cant do would say thats why we cant do what want to tax. Why what you want to do on tax. Why the Million People of the 5. 3 Million People of working age, not working . Figure has rocketed. And that figure has rocketed. And yeah , mark, youre still there yeah, mark, youre still there in a studio. Do you have a quick question as well . Indeed, because youre talking about red tooth and claw , politics and , you talking about politics and of hes been trying to of course, hes been trying to get the agenda from hs2 , get the agenda away from hs2, which has dominated the sort of journalistic and noises off. Now weve got jeremy hunt having spoken at a fringe event centre for policy studies , talking for policy studies, talking about the conservative mayor of West Midlands, andy street , West Midlands, andy street, whos been criticising the government now mr hunt has said hes a fan tastic mayor, but hes a fan tastic mayor, but hes speculating on what he thinks a decision might be rather than talking about what the actual decision may be. Now this brings into question the way that the governments handled this whole issue of hs2 and how its allowed really the agenda to be taken over on on on the rail line. The rail line. Whats happened . Well, as i understand it more, what happenedis understand it more, what happened is now you and i are old enough to how you deal old enough to know how you deal with these issues. If youre in government, you say its a matter fiscal matter for the next fiscal event, statement event, the autumn statement in middle november. Whats middle of november. But whats happening is because the obr, the of budget the office of budget responsibility, looking at responsibility, is looking at what they plan for the autumn statement. Now, is so statement. Right now, hs2 is so big that means the government must make clear to obe whether the northern leg goes goes ahead between birmingham , manchester between birmingham, manchester and of choice must and because of that choice must be in government that be made now in government that thats why this debate is happening, really is happening, because it really is happening, because it really is happening scenes. Happening behind the scenes. Now, the chancellor now, whilst with the chancellor last he made very clear last night he made very clear no, no choice is made this no, no choice is made on this yet. Thats can say yet. And thats why he can say today to andy street, dont do it. Music is they it. But the mood music is they want scrap it, take £10 want to scrap it, take £10 billion and link the whole liverpool manchester, get that line worked out. But for me, looking at the politics of it, the government has spent billions, billions and billions tunnelling under the south to keep the views nice for southern tories. They get to birmingham and they cant afford to link the north. It is a disgrace, frankly, to the levelling up agenda. But nigel, whats your take . Its remarkable , isnt it . Its remarkable, isnt it . Here we are in manchester. We speculation that the manchester leg not ahead. He cant leg may not go ahead. He cant answer a straight question. I wonder whether he has no answer yet. I wonder whether hell even give an answer tomorrow in his speech. And it is appalling politics to all the big politics to allow all the big stuff to save this stuff they want to save this week be overshadowed this week to be overshadowed by this person. Been against it person. Ive been against it right know, right from the start. You know, from. Why is that . From houston. Why is that . Because of capacity, not not just speed. Just speed. Its two hours, seven minutes from euston to manchester, piccadilly, right into the heart of district of the Business District is not theissue. Of the Business District is not the issue. Longer platforms, the issue. Longer platforms, more capacity. Yes. But the real more capacity. Yes. But the real problem in the north i drove once from blackpool to hull. Once from blackpool to hull. Its almost impossible. And there was no train option. Getting east west across the pennines, yorkshire to lancashire. Thats where i put a Family Member on the train to on the northern line to leeds yesterday. And its an old, its an old diesel. It wasnt what you expect in the south of england. Ive got to be honest with you. Its not fair for a fraction of the a fraction of the the money, for a fraction of the money up big money you could link up big cities in the north of england. Sense to that makes far more sense to me. Make. Me. Yeah, we make. We might see something so we. We might see something tomorrow. Think stuck tomorrow. I think they are stuck by problem. Theyve got to by this problem. Theyve got to deal obr. They are deal with the obr. They are making right and making choice right now and doing time. What a doing it in real time. What a mess. Big issues mess. Thats a mess. Big issues here, yeah here, mark. Yeah and chris, very quick question finish with. Were question to finish with. We were being told yesterday that there might be an emergency Cabinet Meeting there in manchester today. Not today. We understand thats not taking place. Your taking place. Is that your understanding there . That is it i i i think the speculation is running away with itself, as it can do in this big old railway shed at in here in mid manchester. I think thats still the case. Okay chris. And also your your team there in manchester, thanks for taking us through that well, keynote speech that we got ahead and the interview there. Thank you very much indeed. Much indeed. It really is a runaway train, isnt it . Hst blimey, i was thinking about saying, yeah, there we go. Well be shunting it back in the yard fairly soon. No doubt. Coming up, could the price of your food shop be coming down . Our economics and Business Editor will be running us through the latest food inflation figures. Youre with the live desk Patrick Christys on gb news and gb news radio. Gb news radio. Now , weve been expecting now, weve been expecting you, mr bond. Thats the line. You, mr bond. Thats the line. Of course we remember from the films, or at least expecting quite a few of his suits because hundreds of items belonging to sir moore going up for sir roger moore going up for auction tomorrow in london. So bond are queuing up to see bond fans are queuing up to see if they can own or buy a piece of seven history and of zero seven film history and help rogers help one of sir rogers cherished charities to the deputy the deputy chairman of the auctioneers bonhams has allowed us to spy on the preparations for a celebration of a man who truly now seems to have created a golden gun. So this year marks the 50th anniversary of sir roger playing james bond for the very first time in live. And let die. And he died , and let die. And he died, sadly, five years ago. And his family felt this was right family felt this was the right time to give his fans the world over a chance to bid on some of these lots. Well, there are so many unique items in this sale. And from james bond interest. I think for me , this coat behind think for me, this coat behind me, which is a chesterfield coat that he wore in his first film, live and let die and in fact, in the very first scene, you see him coming out of jfk airport wearing the coat and he gets in a taxi on his way to see the villain of the film, mr big, or one of the most important lots in is this james bond. In the sale is this james bond. Omega seamaster watch, which is a limited edition number, but its actually unique because it was given to sir roger on the 50th anniversary of the franchise by Barbara Broccoli and michael g. Wilson. And they are, of course, the producers of the bond franchise and engraved on the back of the strap, it actually says to roger, with love from barbara and michael. Well i think everyone knows that sir roger moore was a very keen skier and hes involved in two of the great ski chases in bond bond history. This ski suit, i think, is just so iconic. It comes from his last film, the view to a kill. And its the view to a kill. And its the opening sequence when he comes down the slope and hes chased by a bunch of guys on skis with guns and he skis , then he guns and he skis, then he snowboards and then he ends up in a in a submarine at the end of it, the cabinet behind me are some really fun things from his 40th anniversary swatch watch collection in this wonderful 007 case, weve got his wallet with his bank cards in it, and a couple of backgammon sets as well, one of which one beneath here in the red leather case he would play on set with cubby broccoli , i understand, for high broccoli, i understand, for high stakes and they would sort of settle up at the end of the series. And if cubby was winning, he wouldnt let roger go on set until theyd go back on set until theyd finished great finished the game. So some Great Stories that and some stories behind that and some great on the board. Great games played on the board. I imagine. Well, sir roger moore played james than any played james bond more than any other seven times between other actor seven times between 1973 and 1985. And in my opinion, hes the best dressed of all the bonds and here we have one of the most iconic dinner suits that he wore. And dinner suits that he wore. And this is from the view to a kill. He wore it in that amazing scene at the eiffel tower where hes chasing after may day, played by grace jones. And they go and grace jones. And they go up and then down the eiffel tower. Hes standing on a lift shaft going up the estimate on up and down. So the estimate on the suit is 20 to £30,000. And again , well see where this ends again, well see where this ends up on the day. We really , really up on the day. We really, really excited about the sale there has been unparalleled interest and excitement the world over. Its been on tour in the states and also in france , and its a very also in france, and its a very accessible sale because weve got lots that are about £100 for a corgi toy car up to the big lots, like his personal Omega Seamaster watch at 20 to 30,000. Of course hes wonderful. James bond suits as well. Bond suits as well. And thats what you fancy. The watch, the omega watch. Beautiful. Yeah, beautiful. Beautiful. Yeah, beautiful. Beautiful. Yeah, beautiful. Well, it should be the rolex because i actually saw the rolex he had in live and let die where, if you remember, it had a rotating bezel to cut through the rope. And the quality of the craftsmanship employed by the props pinewood just props people at pinewood is just extraordinary. Yeah. So, i mean, there really are of art. There really are works of art. A lot those things are amazing. Lot of those things are amazing. Amazing anyway. And helping out unicef, his charity amazing anyway. And helping out unicef, work his charity amazing anyway. And helping out unicef, work for. His charity that you work for. Absolutely brilliant. Brilliant cause going to brilliant cause its going to raise thousands now were going to talking own james to be talking to our own james bond a minute here at gb bond in a minute here at gb news, because that is such a bad link. The cost of your weekly shop. Its a bit of a villain myself, but there we are. That. Let me try might be that. Let me try that cost of your that again. The cost of your weekly shop might be that little bit cheaper. Youll be pleased to know. As food prices fall for the years. The first time in two years. Yeah, just groceries down by nought point 1 in terms of the inflation for september , inflation for september, according to latest figures according to the latest figures from retail from the british retail consortium. Lets speak now to our own mr big at manchester. Liam is there with all the facts and figures, as you did predict, this , that things would get this, that things would get a bit easier in terms of what we call input prices , in terms of call input prices, in terms of Raw Materials and food and so on. But its just a very small step, isnt it . I quite like yourjames bond link, actually. Pip. I thought it was very apt given that i was the next person up on the channel. I mean , come on, you just need to be wearing a better suit. Liam then youd be sorted. Oh, oh, oh, nice bit of schmutter this is crikey , right. Schmutter this is crikey, right. Get on with it. So go to food Price Inflation. Ian so youll remember pip and mark that in august inflation, the headline inflation, the headline inflation came down from 6. 8 to 6. 7. That was why the bank of england was able to hold Interest Rates at 5. 25, having raised them 14 times in a row. Raised them 14 times in a row. But those august, those official office for National Statistics numbers in august within that headune numbers in august within that headline rate of inflation, food Price Inflation was still 13. 6. So food prices were 13. 6 higher in august this year than august 2022. The numbers that are out this morning, theyre not official numbers. Theyre from the british retail consortium, which means theyre authoritative, but theyre private Sector Survey numbers. Theyre not official data. And what they show is indeed, weve seen the headline is food prices between august and september fell by 0. 1. A tiny little fall, but at least its a fall. But but at least its a fall. But but, but i hate to sound gloomy, but, but i hate to sound gloomy, but the annual figures so september compared to september last year, food Price Inflation its up by 9. 9. So theres still a lot of food Price Inflation in the system year on year. But the system year on year. But month on month we are now starting to see food prices come down from their peak. And that down from their peak. And that is good for news households. But theres a long way to go. Yeah, and another but of course, youve been concentrating on the oil price. Its dropped slightly overnight, about 2, i think. But clearly that oil and diesel price will feed directly into transport costs for food deliveries. Costs for food deliveries. You know, ive been speaking lots of fringe meetings here in manchester, mark. Thats where people get together for beyond the main hall and they debate specialised subjects. And i get invited to talk about housing, to talk about the economy, to represent gb news with delegates and activists here and this idea that the oil price could scupper this fall in inflation that weve seen in recent months and lead to inflation going up anew, thats now definitely entering mainstream debate. You and i and pip, weve been talking about it for quite a few weeks now because the oil price is up sharply from june from around 70 a barrel to above 90. Now youre right, mark. Its come down a little bit over the last couple of days, but we still have that opec exporters cartel led the saudis , helped by the led by the saudis, helped by the russians who arent an opec member, but theyre working with the theyre not pumping the saudis. Theyre not pumping as much oil onto Global Market gas as is being demanded. And that pushes prices up artificially. And thats bad news for import export , import news for import export, import energy, importing countries like the uk. So this is energy, importing countries like the uk. So this is good news on food Price Inflation, but there is that problem of a Rising Oil Price on the landscape. And if price on the landscape. And if that oil price stays high and goes even higher, it means that this inflationary episode weve been living through for the last yean been living through for the last year, this cost of living crisis, which seemed to be easing in recent weeks, it may not be over yet. And i say that, not be over yet. And i say that, of course, with huge regrets. Yeah. Liam, thanks for taking us through that there at the conference. More from you a little later. Of course. Little later. Of course. What was that . What was that . What was that . The man the man with a very golden gun. Yeah, exactly. Golden gun. Yeah, exactly. Do stay with us here on the live desk. The prince and princess of wales are in cardiff to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the rmt empire, windrush arriving in the uk and to mark the start of black history month. Well, william and kate were greeted by some very happy cheering schoolchildren when they arrived at grange pavilion, close to the city centre. Our close to the city centre. Our royal correspondent with us in the studio, cameron walker, to talk us through what were some pretty happy scenes one had to say. Yes, quite a welcome from a number of schoolchildren, children valleys and also children in the valleys and also their getting really their teachers getting really into trying to take into it as well, trying to take photos mobile them photos on mobile phones of them greeting schoolchildren. Its a running theme i think weve had recently with the prince and princess of wales of really making a point of spending time with different communities here. I just spotted there something really interesting when gets to down their when she gets to down their level. Yeah, getting down. I mean, thats quite interesting, isnt it . Mean, thats quite interesting, isnt it . Its a deliberate move to really bring them to, to a bit more relaxed sort of approach. Approach. Yeah. Every time the princess of wales has an engagements with children, she tends to bend down to their level. We know that the princess has a real passion for early years and Early Childhood development. Its ages 0 to 5, so she really thrives when talking to schoolchildren here. You can see that both of them are spending time greeting as many of them as possible. And of many of them as possible. And of course, theyre only there for just over an hour for an engagement such as this. But its really weve seen them in aberfan six months ago. We saw them spend time with search and rescue personnel in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park , if brycheiniog National Park, if i pronounce that correctly. Mark, please correct. Correct me if i havent Prince Williams been at the the welsh the welsh senate, the Welsh Parliament in cardiff as well, and chose to spend the and they chose to spend the anniversary of the queens death in wales as well. And this is the latest in a long line of engagements. But this, of course, focusing on on the Windrush Generation , 75 years Windrush Generation, 75 years this year since that first ship came across in 1948, carrying rhiannon communities, rebuilding britain post Second World War, tiger bay, being one of those First Communities in cardiff. First communities in cardiff. Theyre down at the docks. Theyre down at the docks. And this is where absolutely. And this is where the grange pavilion is, which is where they are visiting. Theyre visiting there of visiting elders there who, of course , probably remember some course, probably remember some of the Windrush Generation and what they did there, but also for the next generation, the young people who are supported and with different training and Employment Opportunities there as. So really meeting a as well. So really meeting a range and just while range of people and just while we lovely pictures we see those lovely pictures of them ive them greeting the children, ive just seen some extra detail where the children werent told until 10 00 this morning that they would be singing for the prince and princess wales prince and princess of wales can you imagine . Can you imagine . Its quite i know its quite a responsibility, isnt it . Yeah, of course. These visits are kept under security under wraps for security reasons, particularly if its a big crowd such as this. And they would have only been told very last minute, which perhaps adds to the excitement of the schoolchildren. Weve seen the prince of wales prince and princess of wales a lot the last year. Weve lot over the last year. Weve had some huge events with had some huge royal events with the Platinum Jubilee of the late queen, course , queen, her death and of course, the kings coronation as well. So theyll very familiar so theyll be very familiar faces to these children on. Interesting to look and its interesting to look at the informality perhaps is the wrong phrase, but the relaxed way that they can carry out these duties. Now, it is a different approach, isnt it . It is a different approach. They are the next generation of royals. Its a modern way of being members of the royal family. I think to be family. But i think to be honest, is Prince William honest, this is Prince William certainly taking after his father, the king, because if you nofice father, the king, because if you notice king on engagements father, the king, because if you noticwas king on engagements father, the king, because if you noticwas this,ng on engagements father, the king, because if you noticwas this, he on engagements father, the king, because if you noticwas this, he on wellgements father, the king, because if you noticwas this, he on well all|ents such as this, he as well all varieties with talking to ordinary members of the public, shaking hands and shaking hands. And even when hes perhaps slightly danger. If you slightly in danger. If you remember year york, one remember last year in york, one of first walkabouts since of his first walkabouts since becoming eggs thrown becoming king, eggs were thrown at him. You were there. Was at him. You were there. I was there. Saw those eggs being there. I saw those eggs being chucked. An hour later he chucked. But an hour later he insisted on carrying out another walkabout to show hes not afraid. And he wasnt going to disappoint the public. And he and he carried it without and he carried it out without any for things. Any aid for these things. But, you know, it does run in the because harry the family because prince harry is this sort is also excellent at this sort of thing as well. Prince is. Yes, but Prince William is. Yes, but prince harry is we saw him prince harry is too. We saw him at invictus games, probably prince harry is too. We saw him at from tus games, probably prince harry is too. We saw him at from their ames, probably prince harry is too. We saw him at from their mother. obably prince harry is too. We saw him at from their mother. Yes, ly get it from their mother. Yes, im yeah, im sure diana. Yeah, she certainly did. Yes. Certainly did. Yes. Anyway, great scenes there and just to sort of reflect that, perhaps we will see more and more of them in wales as they undertake the official duties as as prince and princess. Yes. And from my understanding, really want princess. Yes. And from my un deepen iing, really want princess. Yes. And from my un deepen the, really want princess. Yes. And from my un deepen the relationship want to deepen the relationship they have different communities have with different communities in wales, particularly under standing different standing these different communities, weve communities, which is why weve seen a diverse spread of seen such a diverse spread of engagements the nine engagements over the last nine months engagements over the last nine mo and im told want to be and im told they want to be ambassadors its people and ambassadors for its people and communities. Of course, a role communities. Of course, a role theyre always expected have theyre always expected to have. King and. When charles became king and theyre going to do so until until the time comes when they take the top job. These are the latest pictures or the live pictures were getting. It looks were getting. It looks like were waiting to emerge waiting from for them to emerge from the. Yes. Is this the so this is well, this is the prince princess prince and princess of wales visiting high school visiting Fitzalan High School in cardiff. We are expecting their cardiff. We are expecting their royal highnesses to arrive imminently , actually. Oh, imminently, actually. Oh, theyre arriving to take some time at 20 mile an hour limit. Yeah did i just say that . Did i just say that . Yes, i did. Yes yes, i did. Yes well, i think somehow they might get away with that because i very much will have a Police Escort with them. Theyre escort with them. But theyre going meeting different escort with them. But theyre goingschool meeting different escort with them. But theyre goingschool children, different escort with them. But theyre goingschool children, buterent escort with them. But theyre goingschool children, but also high school children, but also looking at the vocational courses that this School Provides , particularly different provides, particularly different training that sixth formers get, in particular to get on with employment. Cameron thanks very much indeed for taking us through that. Course, well reflect and of course, well reflect on visit as it continues. On the visit as it continues. Thank you. Right. With speculation swirling around about the Prime Ministers hs2 decision, the question everyone is asking is what will be the impact of a possible cancellation on the tories fortunes at the next election . Well, rishi sunak appears to be catching up with sir keir starmer in terms of personal polling, at least in the polls. But the net zero turnaround, is it enough to hold on to number 10 consultant and pollster frank luntz i think can join chris at manchester. Are you there . Yes, manchester. Are you there . Yes, you are, chris. And clearly , you are, chris. And clearly, obviously, the slide rule would be going across those polling figures and all the other sort of feedback that they get at the moment. Thats right. Margaret yeah. Im with frank luntz, the legendary pollster. Frank, is legendary pollster. Frank, is this big hs2 prevaricate , and this big hs2 prevaricate, and were in a train shed in manchester. Is that a problem for the tory party or is it youve seen it over the years . You know, but its still an issue. You do not want to have division in the middle of a Party Conference. Yes. If they try to spin it like this is no big deal, theyre not telling try to spin it like this is no big the. , theyre not telling try to spin it like this is no big the truth. re not telling try to spin it like this is no big the truth. Its10t telling try to spin it like this is no big the truth. Its not. Elling you the truth. Its not something thats going to be fatal to them. But theyre fatal to them. But theyre eager to northern votes. Theyre to get northern votes. Theyre eager to prove that levelling up matters and if theres not going to be hs2, they better have an alternative. Right now , the alternative. Right now, the truth theyve spent billions truth is theyve spent billions tunnelling under the south of england and spent the budget and they cant link up birmingham to manchester. Its a disgrace. Its a disgrace. Yeah, well, im screaming about in the states because about it in the states because as were going this as were going to do this between francisco and los between San Francisco and los angeles, and im saying, hell no, going happen no, its never going to happen in the end. Its not what you promised to do. Its what you actually deliver that matters. So this is not a topic that theyre appreciate theyre going to appreciate right now. The interview today of gb news with me earlier, the pm said therell be a vote on this net zero watering down of targets. Issue consent targets. The issue of consent for net zero hasnt yet been hasnt really been emerged here yet, but it will be emerging in coming weeks. But whats your take that . Zero. Coming weeks. But whats your take already zero. Coming weeks. But whats your take already exists. A it already exists. There is a consensus that britain should lead way on net zero. Lead the way on net zero. Without the consequences without doubt, the consequences of a painful transition for individuals , for families, for individuals, for families, for homeowners , flat owners in the homeowners, flat owners in the end, net zero has has almost two thirds support in this country , thirds support in this country, and people are willing to make a sacrifice, but only up to when theyre asked to pay for it. That falls down, up to certain that falls down, up to a certain point. Theyll give point. Okay. Theyll give hundreds of pounds. Theyre not going to pay thousands of pounds. Youre an academic. Ive got to ask you, guys all to ask you, these guys all behind you guys. Thats thats rally hello. Thats thats rally college. Okay. It the best college. Okay. It is the best Education Institution in the uk. And they get a chance to enjoy an entire day of the Party Conference. Up or down. Thumbs up, thumbs down. Theyre enjoying themselves. Excellent. Youre. But youre youre. But youre a pollster. You do focus groups. Pollster. You do focus groups. You saw weekend opinion poll you saw the weekend opinion poll giving the tories a 10 deficit to labour. Is giving the tories a 10 deficit to labour. Is that an giving the tories a 10 deficit to labour. Is that an outlier . To labour. Is that an outlier . Is that real . I dont believe its real. I do believe that the conservatives got the conservatives have got the message. That they message. I believe that they understand that they to do understand that they need to do more to and learn from more to listen to and learn from their constituents. In the end, their constituents. In the end, its not to going be an endorsement the prime endorsement of the Prime Minister and the party. Its going to be an endorsement of each mp, and thats each local mp, and thats absolutely if theyre absolutely necessary if theyre to keep them, you know, from the bofis to keep them, you know, from the Boris Johnson, youre in oxford with him for a bit. Yes. Isnt he . Should be yes. Isnt he . Who should be here . Sunak. Here . Not rishi sunak. This question of no. I asked this question of about maybe 250 delegates about 200, maybe 250 delegates here and they are theyre happy with whos leading them. Theyre happy with the direction, but they want to do more. They want to go further. They want to to go further. They want to demonstrate that theyve earned and deserved another opportunity. And thats why all this yelling isnt helpful to further what on tax cuts now show some leg on tax cuts. The right on side. Get the right on side. Get the right on side. Thats such a british way to ask question. Thats such a british way to ask how question. Thats such a british way to ask how would on. Thats such a british way to ask how would how would you ask it . I would say that you have to prove that youre making life more affordable. That more affordable. Okay. That pnces more affordable. Okay. That prices are coming down. The ability to buy things you want is more. Is more. But thats the inflation answer. Thats the inflation. Its a combination because in answer. Thats the inflation. End, combination because in answer. Thats the inflation. End, thenbination because in answer. Thats the inflation. End, the biggestn because in answer. Thats the inflation. End, the biggest taxecause in answer. Thats the inflation. End, the biggest tax ofuse in answer. Thats the inflation. End, the biggest tax of all in the end, the biggest tax of all is the inflation tax. And if they can address that cost of living so that people can have the they want, need and the things they want, need and deserve, that that deserve, that gives them that allows them to ask you one last thing. The pm also said today. I asked him, would you allow nigel farage back into tory party . Farage back into the tory party . He were a broad church. He said, were a broad church. Hes wise should the fox be hes out. Wise should the fox be allowed back henhouse . Allowed back into the henhouse . Saw him here yesterday , as i saw him here yesterday, he this area , he drew a he in this area, he drew a crowd. People obviously want to hear what he has to say. Everyones taking selfies with him. Um, in the end, thats a decision that an american cant make. My only advice is go on, make. My only advice is go on, make life more affordable. And that returns you to government. Okay. On that note, back to you, mark and pippa in the studio. Really interesting insight. Christopher hope, Political Editor , thank you very much for editor, thank you very much for that. Talking to frank luntz there. I think interpreting its the economy, stupid, which remember, of course, from a certain president ial those of course, from a certain presic ago al those of course, from a certain presic ago now those of course, from a certain presic ago now silent those of course, from a certain presic ago now silent protest has years ago now silent protest has been held outside the covid 19 inquiry. Today as its second phase gets undennay, the chair, baroness heather hallett, saying that families who lost loved ones during the covid 19 pandemic will not be ignored. But rishi sunak has told the inquiry that he is unable to provide whatsapp messages from his time as chancellor during the pandemic as he failed to back them up. Well lets talk to gb News National reporter Theo Chikomba, who is outside the inquiry. Theo bring us up to date then with with what the inquiry has been hearing so far today. Yes today. Yes yes. Well, a very good afternoon to you. The biggest question today has been did the government serve people well or did it fail them . There have been discussing the chronological events that took place during 2021. The decisions that the government made and its mainly been about the governance in this part of this module, about some of those key decisions made in westminster. As youve just reiterate there, the Prime Minister rishi sunak at that time was chancellor and hed had been requested to give some of his whatsapp messages and hes been unable to do that. As we understand, there was a change of handsets. So hes not been able to do that. But for families, though, some describe it as opening a wound, having to relive some of those stories. And indeed today at the beginning of this hearing, we saw a video with 14 families who lost some of their relatives dunng lost some of their relatives during the covid 19 pandemic. And we did hear from charles earlier on today , and this is earlier on today, and this is what he had to say about some of those decisions made by the government. I was absolutely mortified at the time. I knew that it would actually lead to more of a disaster, more deaths, more people the long term people suffering the long term effects of covid. Yeah, it was absolutely reckless on the behalf of the government. I behalf of the government. I dont feel they took the medication medications appropriately and they didnt take the steps to protect the country or the people. You know, country or the people. You know, we knew social distancing was a huge part of this. And basically huge part of this. And basically what they did is an encouraged crowds to gather in the middle of a pandemic. Its crowds to gather in the middle of a pandemic. Its totally of a pandemic. Its totally reckless. Reckless. Well, today, most of whats been heard through this hearing has been led by the lead counsel to the enquirer , hugh hugo keith to the enquirer, hugh hugo keith , and hes been mentioning some of those submissions this morning. And we understand that theyre going to continue that this afternoon, just after 2 pm. But he was raising a number p. M. But he was raising a number of questions about should certain departments should have been should have been involved in the governments processes at the time. Should the government the time. Should the government have taken more steps within their powers to ensure that they made the decisions at the right time . Weve heard about sporting events, weve heard about closures in schools and previous modules and of course some expertise from science, science experts across the country. And experts across the country. And we also saw some of those numbers around 230,000 people who have the have covid as a reason for death during that time. And of course, its all time. And of course, its all the families that are having to rehear for some of these scenarios again. But what they say they want is more answers from those who are in power at that time. And of course, that time. And of course, perhaps the government in power at the moment can learn should something happen like this in the future, in this country and across the world over the next nine weeks, there will be ministers and other government officials giving evidence. Do we have any idea of who is going to be there or. Yes. So we are we do understand. Well hear some evidence from the current Prime Minister, rishi sunak, and the former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, alongside a number of scientific experts who were either working during that time and provided some support during that time and advice to the current government and there will be a number of people alongside them over the next couple of weeks. This is due to continue. Until the 14th of continue. Until the 14th of december. In this particular module , Theo Chikomba gb news, module, Theo Chikomba gb news, National Reporter, thanks very much for that update from the start of the second phase, crucial phase of the covid inquiry coming up in the next hour. She added it is british life. She added it is her job to be fearless in calling that out. Calling that out. If we have a great Multiethnic Society and many Multiethnic Society and in many parts of our country, integration has worked. But there are also many towns and cities around the United Kingdom where it hasnt. And communities are living parallel lives. They are living parallel lives. They are living parallel lives. They are coming from abroad. They are not learning the language. Theyre not embracing British Values and theyre not taking part in british life. And that needs to be identified. We need to be fearless in calling that out. And thats my job. We are live across the uk on tv , on digital across the uk on tv, on Digital Radio and on your Smart Speaker to just say play gb news thats it for me. Now back to mark and. Pip thank you. Well, the conservative Party Conference has been dominated by questions over the future of the northern leg of hs2. But there are other leg of hs2. But there are other pressing issues for the Prime Minister to deal with if hes to convince voters that his party is worthy of winning another term in government. Term in government. Well, earlier the Prime Minister spoke our political minister spoke to our Political Editor, hope , with editor, chris hope, with a conference still threatened Conference Call still threatened to be derailed by that issue of hs2 indeed, reaction of hs2 and indeed, the reaction of even former tory Prime Ministers to it. But rishi sunak spoken of variety of issues, including whether hed welcome a certain nigel farage as a conservative mp. Prime minister , what do you mp. Prime minister, what do you stand for . I stand for doing the right thing for the country in the long term, not taking the easy way out. I think thats the change people want to see change that people want to see in thats the in their politics. Thats the change that im going to bring. And with my and you saw that with my decision zero. I did decision on net zero. I did something that i thought was right. Was a big right. You know, it was a big decision. Can decision. And look, people can criticise that, but criticise me for that, but i thought, what were doing, the path were going cost path were on, is going to cost ordinary families five, ten, £15,000. Think was £15,000. I didnt think that was right. We can hit our targets without doing those things. So i went and set out a new went out and set out a new realistic approach. And thats what going from what youre going to see from me. Thats the type of leadership going get leadership youre going to get from thats how were from me because thats how were going not just going to change, not just politics. Its how were going to the to change our country for the better. Net zero better. You mentioned net zero there press conference there in that press conference last you said that lack last week, you said that a lack of consent risks support for net zero. Why not give mps a vote . They never net zero, never voted before. Net zero, have they . Actually, vote well, actually, mps do vote on budgets which on these carbon budgets which decide to decide how much were going to reduce carbon emissions. One decide how much were going to retthe carbon emissions. One decide how much were going to retthe carboriemissions. One decide how much were going to retthe carbori pointedls. One decide how much were going to retthe carbori pointed out one of the things i pointed out in my approach to net zero is my new approach to net zero is weve be more weve got to be more transparency around that. When weve got to be more transvotency around that. When weve got to be more transvote happensid that. When weve got to be more transvote happens again. When weve got to be more transvote happens again. Vthei that vote happens again in the future. Very future. So when i said very clearly, vote on the clearly, when mps vote on the amount reduction that amount of carbon reduction that were going to do alongside that, they should be considering all that all the measures that are required carbon required to deliver that carbon reduction. Thats the kind of honesty that honesty and transparency that politicians the politicians should have with the country. Like this kind politicians should have with the Co Westminster like this kind politicians should have with the Co Westminster consensus conference, spirit i the conference, the spirit of you of conference is great. You know, out about know, ive been out and about talking members, talking to talking to members, talking to colleagues. Spring colleagues. People have a spring in their step. They see that in their step. They can see that were i were making progress. When i first became pm, i set out five immediate priorities to focus on halving inflation. Inflation is coming stopping the boats coming down, stopping the boats really important. And the numbers year are down by numbers this year are down by a fifth first time. Thats happened that someones brought the numbers down. So those plans are working and people are responding what were responding well to what were doing. Zero, doing. New approach on net zero, increasing the National Living wage for 2 million low paid people today. Jades law making sure that criminals who sure that awful criminals who murder their partners dont have any rights over their children. That obviously is not common sense. That obviously is not common sense. Were changing that. And sense. Were changing that. And crucially , supporting in crucially, supporting people in towns live in towns towns more people live in towns in our country than live in big cities. All attention cities. To get all the attention from westminster politicians, im were giving im changing that. Were giving people 55 towns across people in towns, 55 towns across the uk , £1 billion, long term the uk, £1 billion, long term funding and putting local people in charge of how to spend that money. So look, theres lots of good stuff going on. It right, good stuff. Is it right, though, that nurses though, on tax that nurses and teachers paying the teachers will be paying the higher income by higher rate of income tax by 2027 . Look, 2027 . On current forecast . Look, im a conservative. Everyone here at this conference wants to taxes conference wants to see taxes come down. Course we do. Come down. Of course we do. Where is the question, so where is the question, Prime Minister . Best the tax cut the best the best tax cut i can people is to can deliver for people is to halve inflation. Its inflation that life difficult halve inflation. Its inflation tha nurses, life difficult halve inflation. Its inflation tha nurses, teachers, ult halve inflation. Its inflation tha nurses, teachers, for for nurses, for teachers, for everyone talked everyone else that you talked about. Everyone else that you talked about. And why the first about. And thats why the first of priorities of my five priorities is to halve inflation. Have you ever had a yourself . Of had a mortgage yourself . Of course its exactly course i have. And its exactly why it. Feel the why i want it. You feel the burden on peoples mortgages. How that . If we how do we do that . If we restrain inflation, then interest going up Interest Rates can stop going up and coming down, right . And start coming down, right . Thats straightfonnard economics, thats the economics, right . Thats the best to people. Best way for me to help people. And the plan working. When i and the plan is working. When i came inflation was came into office, inflation was at are getting it at 11. Well, we are getting it down. The last few numbers show that the plan is working and just as Margaret Thatcher did, just as Margaret Thatcher did, just as Margaret Thatcher did, just as nigel lawson those just as nigel lawson did, those are proud conservatives im following tradition to following in their tradition to get down because get inflation down because inflation is the evil that we must defeat and good things will flow from that other weekend, three cabinet ministers. That echr your colleague said that echr withdrawal on the withdrawal should be on the table. Is it . Table. Is it . Well, what all of us are completely agreed on is that stopping the boats is a priority. Thats why one of my five priorities is to stop boats. Priorities is to stop the boats. Were doing lot of things to were doing a lot of things to bnng were doing a lot of things to bring about. And i really bring that about. And i really want viewers to know want all your viewers to know this for the First Time Since small become a thing, the small boats become a thing, the numbers down this year. Let numbers are down this year. Let me that again. They are me just say that again. They are down. Are down by a fifth. Down. They are down by a fifth. Right. Happened right. That hasnt happened anywhere theyre anywhere else in europe. Theyre down the things down because of all the things were new were doing. The new deal i signed with albania, weve returned almost 3000 Illegal Migrants and you know migrants to albania and you know what . Theyve stopped coming. What . Theyve stopped coming. Thats why need to get rwanda thats why we need to get rwanda up running am up and running now. I am confident plans weve confident that the plans weve got in place will work. They will deliver. Theyve lot will deliver. Theyve got a lot to , weve a to do. Of course, weve got a lot do. This is a huge lot to do. But this is a huge priority for me and were making a difference. You ever stop boats . Asi . As i said, for the first time even as i said, for the first time ever, for first time ever, ever, for the first time ever, the down. Yes they the numbers are down. Yes they are down by fifth. They didnt are down by a fifth. They didnt happen by accident. That happened doing happened because were doing a bunch deal with bunch of things. New deal with albania gangs in albania tackling crime gangs in upstream different parts of upstream in different parts of europe. Look, view this is europe. Look, my view on this is simple. Should be british simple. It should be the british people decide who comes to people who decide who comes to our and not criminal our country and not criminal gangs. Know what . Talk gangs. And you know what . I talk to leaders a lot to other european leaders a lot when and about. Theyre when im out and about. Theyre increasingly seeing that, too. The conversation on this in europe has changed. When i set out on eight out my stall on this eight months again, lots of months ago, again, lots of people me. But what people criticised me. But what youre from lots of youre seeing now from lots of other european leaders the other european leaders is the acknowledgement that what i said is. They are all is right. They are all recognising that needs be recognising that it needs to be our countries are in our countries that are in control of comes to us, not control of who comes to us, not gangs. And we need to have systems possible. Systems that make that possible. So then where britain systems that make that possible. So others hen where britain systems that make that possible. So others will where britain systems that make that possible. So others will follow britain systems that make that possible. So others will follow. 3ritain systems that make that possible. So others will follow. Andin leads, others will follow. And youre seeing that that is now happening. You noticed happening. You may have noticed that farage wandering that nigel farage is wandering around conference first around your conference first time decades. Time in decades. Have him as would you have him back as a member of tory party, the member of the tory party, the tory party is a very broad church tory party is a very broad chur welcome lots people i welcome lots of people who want subscribe to our ideals, want to subscribe to our ideals, to right. And look, to our values. Right. And look, the thing about the thing i care about is delivering country. And delivering for the country. And the people, as ive seen at the more people, as ive seen at this conference, weve got record , i at record attendance, i think at this lots energy, this conference, lots of energy, lots engagement. Are lots of engagement. People are responding were responding well to what were doing. The right responding well to what were doingterm the right responding well to what were doingterm decisions the right responding well to what were doingterm decisions fore right responding well to what were doingterm decisions for the|ht long term decisions for the country bring change country. We want to bring change thats what im about. The contrast with labour could not be youve got keir be clearer. Youve got keir starmer who no one knows what he stands for. Flip flops left and right. The country can see through thats not through that. Thats not leadership im offering is leadership. What im offering is different. I know people want change. Person to change. Im the person to deliver it because were going to politics differently. You to do politics differently. You saw zero. See saw that on net zero. Youll see that this week. Thats what you get from a conservative government. Thank you. Thank you. Thanks much. Thank you. So thanks much. Thank you. So the thanks much. Thank you. So the prime1anks much. Thank you. So the Prime Minister much. Thank you. So the Prime Minister trying h. So the Prime Minister trying to the and political to get the policy and political agenda track. But while agenda back on track. But while he speaking there to chris he was speaking there to chris hope, then the chancellor hope, we had then the chancellor at a fringe meeting criticising andy street, the West Midlands tory mayor, for his comments on hs2, andy street , then hs2, andy street, then indicating that hes not ruling out resigning over the issue , out resigning over the issue, making an impassioned last ditch appeal to the Prime Minister not to cancel the link. Well, lets get more with catherine foster, who is in manchester for us. Catherine, this just wont go away. Despite the Prime Minister trying to sort of shunt it into the sidings, if you like. Yes exactly. This row is going on and on. And despite the government saying no decision has been made. Saying no decision has been made , we are expecting it to be cancelled. I was told that it was to be cancelled yesterday. Were expecting the announcement tomorrow. But before we talk about hs2, pip, specially for you for and all the animal lovers watching, ibnng all the animal lovers watching, i bring you some very lovely guide dogs on the right we have diamond beautiful behaved along with colin. Colin. Thank you. And on the left we have inca having a lie down. I think theyll probably be a lot of people here could do with a lie down. Thank you so much. Okay, lets go for a walk. So, yes, lets go for a walk. So, yes, the row is continuing, as youve just mentioned. Just mentioned. And the mayor of the West Midlands and of course, hs2 is definitely going to birmingham. Hes a concert live mayor, normally a big supporter of the government, but he is absolutely furious. Hes been speaking out. Furious. Hes been speaking out. Hes saying this is not going to happen without a big fight. And jeremy hunt has been criticising him. So there is a lot of anger within the conservative party itself about what seems likely to happen, which is that this hs2 line that the north was promised that was going to go to leeds until 2021 when it was killed and now wont go to manchester either. But meanwhile , rishi sunak that interview with chris hope really trying to get the narrative back on to what the Prime Minister wants to talk about. And he sounded pretty positive , didnt he . Yes, pretty positive, didnt he . Yes, he was trotting out his five pledges, as he likes to do at any opportunity, but hes having any opportunity, but hes having a little bit more luck than he was just a couple of months ago because Inflation Inflation is going down. The government is confident theyll get it to half what was by the end of the what it was by the end of the year. What it was by the end of the year. Hes saying inflation is year. Hes saying inflation is evil , that a drop in inflation evil, that a drop in inflation is the biggest tax cut that they can give. Well, sure , its not can give. Well, sure, its not a tax cut, but obviously inflation goes down. That is a massive help to people. Hes also saying about the small boats, okay, they havent stopped the boats. Theres a lot of crossings some 25,000 this year. But of course, they are down about 20. So hes hailing that as an achievement as well. Also theres a big focus now on were in a disused train station where it was a train station where it was a train station where it was a train station until 1969, but but a big focus now from the conservatives on drivers. Rishi conservatives on drivers. Rishi sunak said the other day this war on the motorist, as he puts it, is going to end. So theres it, is going to end. So theres a lot of focus from mark harper on drivers. They see this as on drivers. They see this as a real vote winner and talking about this softening of the green targets. They want to paint themselves as the party out there for hard working families hoping to save them money, saying, no, were not rowing back on net zero, but we want it to be affordable for people. And quite a clever ruse people. And quite a clever ruse in that theyre going to have a vote on these softening of these net zero targets and labour will have to vote on that too. And i have to vote on that too. And i suspect that will then be used against labour in the forthcoming general election. Forthcoming general election. Catherine, thank you very much. You should have asked those dogs what they thought of hs2. They might have made more hs2. They might have made more sense than what were hearing from the Prime Minister at the moment about it. But thank you very much. Rough deal. Director its a rough deal. Director general at the institute of export and International Trade, Marco Forgione joins us now from manchester. Thank you very much indeed for your time. Infrastructure, of course, key to all these decisions. I would just like to bowl a question to hs2, even though the Prime Minister doesnt want to talk about it, how important is it that these decisions are made and that particularly investors get some certainty before coming in inward investment . So yesterday evening i was with a group of Business Leaders from manchester and it was very clear that they are exceptionally concerned about the fact that hs2 seems like its going to be cancelled and hs2 isnt just about passenger numbers , its also about freight numbers, its also about freight connectivity. Connectivity. Right. Right. And when the government had made the commitment, both businesses in the uk and International Investors made decisions on their investments in the uk and i think a decision at this stage to not complete the manchester leg of hs2 does cause significant problems for the uk and internationally. It calls into question the uks ability to both plan and deliver these major Infrastructure Projects. Projects. And mark, theres a key point here where jeremy hunt himself has been asking how come that the french can deliver their network, the tgv, for instance . We cant. What is your analysis of that . Why is it theyd be able to do it on the continent and we cant do it here . Well, the issues of housing and wise, i think, are pretty complex and intricate. I think the reality is we have to the government will have to review whats happened in this instance if they are going to scrap it and really ask some tough questions of what that means for the future and what needs to be done to ensure that the uk is an attractive place for inward investment. And theres a real imperative that we get these sorts of things right, whether its rail or road or broadband , its rail or road or broadband, and we have to invest it to develop world class Infrastructure Projects. The Infrastructure Projects. The institute of export and International Trade carried out a piece of research on trade in services, which is 80 of the uk economy and some of the key drivers for the growth in trade in services is infrastructure. Proximity to airports, access to rail and access to high Speed Broadband and for the uk to continue to be a world leading centre for services, weve got to get these things right. To get these things right. The problem is marco , is this the problem is marco, is this issue of hs2 is straddling the whole political divide, isnt it . Youve got former Prime Ministers saying its a mistake to axe this manchester leg. Youve got the former chancellor, George Osborne, urging rishi sunak to reconsider. He says it would be a tragedy to cancel it. A tragedy to cancel it. Im not going to get into Party Politics or the internal conversations, discussions within the conservative party looking as an organisation which exists purely to support and encourage International Trade and to ensure that the uk economy seizes all the tremendous opportunities that International Trade brings for businesses. Our role is to highlight where things need to change and what the key drivers of International Trade are. And of International Trade are. And the imperative is that all the Research Shows that businesses which trade internationally are more sustainable, more resilient, they are more innovative , they employ more innovative, they employ more people and are more profitable. So getting this right is really important. So getting this right is really important. Right . Marco, thank you very much for bringing us that perspective there at manchester. As of course, you know, with the export International Trade association. Thank you very much indeed. Stay with us here on the live desk. Stay with us here on the live desk. Well be staying in desk. Well be staying in manchester, but this time at a bma rally as the Health Secretary says, the Association Plan is not on the side of patients. Youre with the live desk. Patrick christys on gb news. Im gb news radio. Gb news radio. Welcome back to the live desk. Lets take you straight live to new york. Live to new york. Yes, Donald Trumps most motorcade is making its way through the streets back to court as his civil trial continues in manhattan. And it continues in manhattan. And it is a case that could dismantle a few parts of the us. The former us president s massive Business Empire and really affect his ability to do business in new york because donald trump, along with his two sons and nearly a dozen business associates, is accused of inflating the value of his assets by billions of dollars to secure more favourable loans and insurance terms. The judge , arthur engoron, the judge, arthur engoron, last week had already ruled that the Trump Organisation overvalued assets by between 800 and 12 and 2. 2 billion, referring to the tax assessment of the mar a lago complex down in florida at 18 million as asking how is that possible . So the state of new york declaring that trump had done this to get better loan terms saving, they allege at least 100 million as he has denied any wrongdoing. His lawyers say they will appeal. He was in court for the first day yesterday. They expect first day yesterday. They expect him to enter the courtroom again with that trademark glower we see so often. These days. Also, plenty of secret Service Agents as well. That is the courtroom that you are looking at where he will be arriving shortly. Yesterday, he was sat at the defendants table, occasionally speaking to his lawyers as an attorney, accused him of lying year after year in his Financial Statements. Yeah, yesterday , clearing on yeah, yesterday, clearing on his social media platform , he his social media platform, he would come to fight for my name and reputation and he said that the state attorney general, letitia james, was corrupt and racist and that the judge was unfair and unhinged and vicious in his pursuit of me. And then outside this Supreme Court in lower manhattan, calling the case a sham, he said, my Financial Statements are phenomenal , Financial Statements are phenomenal, which maybe is not quite the right phrase. One might use, because clearly, i think the state is saying, yes, they are phenomenal but in the wrong direction. Of this is affecting but none of this is affecting his commanding lead over his rivals in the race for the republican president ial nomination. That is according to the latest polls. This is one of many cases he is facing because hes also facing criminal charges in washington and in georgia. And in florida. Hes also denied wrongdoing over those cases relating to trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election and handling classified documents upon leaving office. He has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. In wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. In all four wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty. In all four cases. There guilty. In all four cases. There and apart from that, of course, hes running for president of the united states. Son is shining in new york. We have to tell you that the son apparently is going to be shining in the uk. Im just looking at latest were looking at the latest were getting met office, getting from the met office, which is expecting the uk to be as hot as abitha. This weekend. This just coming in. They say the south of england could be as hot as athens at 25 c celsius hotter than barcelona, which is predicted to have 24 celsius temperatures could hit 26 celsius in some places of the south east, says the met office, making it as hot as the med. The last hottest temperature recorded in october 2011 at gravesend when it reached 29. 9 c not quite there yet. This is not right. Not when the leaves are falling off the trees. Bring it on. Bring it on. Bring it on. The Health Secretary has claimed the bma leadership is not on the side of change and not on the side of change and not on the side of patients. It comes his comments as nhs consults say they will not take any more strike action for four weeks if and if the government gets round the table for negotiations. Well of course we had the assertion earlier too from rishi sunak, the Prime Minister. They tried a time or multiple times. He said , to meet the bma over he said, to meet the bma over the strike action, but they hadnt been able to do so. The bma holding rally in bma now holding a rally in manchester, course, where the manchester, of course, where the conference is taking place. Our News Reporter jack is News Reporter jack carson is there us been there for us and has been speaking to those doctors. And what the response to what whats been the response to the governments assertion that theyve to to theyve been trying to speak to theyve been trying to speak to the bma has the bma when the bma has indicated theyve not had discussions for 100 days . I think. Yeah, thats now since think. Yeah, thats now since Steve Barclay last formally sat around the table negotiating, of course, the issue of pay with the British Medical Association and from the speakers that have been here at the rally today, it feels like a united feeling that actually the government arent going coming back to the table and arent reaching out to them of course, that is different, as you said, to what rishi sunak mentioned , that mentioned this morning, that they attempted to make they have attempted to make contact they have attempted to make conthey they have attempted to make con they the stage they have attempted to make conthey the stage and this and they the stage and this and this position , unless there is, this position, unless there is, of course, that around the table and actually negotiate rather than just have a conversation but bring reopen the negotiations. The British Medical Association are, of course, reluctant to possibly do that. But of course, the message very much here from the rally this afternoon, as you can see from people with from the people behind me with their theyre their placards, which theyre bnght their placards, which theyre bright bma hats on has bright orange bma hats on has been all about pay restoration, about recognising the work that these doctors did throughout the pandemic and the effort and the levels of pay restoration. Therefore, they feel like they deserve. Phil banfield is the chair. Of course , of the of the chair. Of course, of the of the bma council says they want to be valued the same as their expertise as it was back in 2008. Now, of course, we know for the Junior Doctors , who of for the Junior Doctors, who of course, are a part of this joint strike with the senior consultants that means a 35 pay increase. But of course, the government say thats unsustainable. Thats unfeasible. Steve barclay saying, of course that the bma are not are not on the public side. Course that the bma are not are not on the public side. And so not on the public side. And so yeah, where that kind of pay restoration comes from, its certainly not of course what what the government are looking to from their to do because from their position accepted. The position theyre accepted. The independent review bodies independent pay review bodies recommend an recommend nations. That was an average of 8. 8 rise this year for the Junior Doctors and 6 for the Junior Doctors and 6 for those more senior consultants. And even under. Gb consultants. And even under. Gb news john cleese , were just news john cleese, were just going to interrupt you. Were getting a break up on the signal , were getting a break up on the signal, so apologies for that. Battle lines are being drawn with the Prime Minister telling gb news hes the person to deliver change to britain. Rishi sunak has also defended his record on illegal immigration, saying for the first time ever, the number of small boats crossing the channel is down by a fifth. He also reiterated his plan to halve inflation and accused the labour leader of being weak on his policies. Youve got keir starmer who no one knows what he stands for, flip flops left and right. The country can see through that. Thats not leadership. What im offering different. Know offering is different. I know people want change. Im the person to deliver it because were do politics were going to do politics differently. Net differently. You saw that on net zero. See that this week. Zero. Youll see that this week. Thats get a thats what you get from a conservative government. The government plans to ban trans women from female hospital wards i Health Secretary Steve Barclay told his partys conference the changes would protect the privacy, dignity and safety all patients while safety of all patients while pushing back against wokery in the nhs. The Campaign Group stonewall says the plans are unworkable and will make health care for trans women humiliating and dangerous. The prime and dangerous. The Prime Minister, meanwhile, is yet to confirm the governments position on the future of the northern leg of the hs2 rail project. Businesses are project. Businesses are demanding immediate clarity following reports. Rishi sunak is to scrap the line from birmingham to manchester. Its understood the Prime Minister will soften the blow by announcing spending on other Infrastructure Projects for the north. A speech tomorrow. North. In a speech tomorrow. More on all of our stories as always on our website. Gb news. Com always on our website. Gbnews. Com. Patrick christys on gb news. Im gb news radio. Gb news radio. Welcome back to the live desk and lets mark a key second phase of the covid 19 Public Inquiry today with the chain baroness heather hallett, saying that families who lost loved ones during that pandemic will not ignored. Not be ignored. But rishi sunak has told the inquiry that hes unable to provide whatsapp messages from his time as chancellor during the pandemic. As he failed to back them up. Back them up. Lets get more from outside that inquiry now with our National Reporter Theo Chikomba and thea. We know that the whole intent is to try learn intent is to try and learn lessons rather than apportion blame. But clearly what they are looking at now is this stage at what decisions were made by the government and the government and what the consequences were. Thats right. Consequences were. Thats right. Well, the big question today has been, did the government fail to help people during that time or did it serve people well dunng time or did it serve people well during that beginning . Part of the pandemic . This afternoon in the pandemic . This afternoon in the hearing has just resumed and theyve been looking into some of those restrictions which were put in different places at different times across the country. Did that help the National Picture for example, some other places will be told you cant go to different places , cant meet with family and friends and others. They had friends and others. They had a completely full lockdowns in their areas. And now, of course, their areas. And now, of course, families who are affected. We saw a formal video this morning where they were sharing some of the impact its had, some who lost their children, their grandmothers , their wives, grandmothers, their wives, husbands during that period at care homes and some in hospital. There werent too many ideas about whats happening at that time. We did hear about what was happening in wuhan , but here in happening in wuhan, but here in this country, there have been questions about what the government should have done dunng government should have done during that time. Did they act quickly enough . Did seek quickly enough . Did they seek the what the right advice . And what lessons can they learn from that penod . Lessons can they learn from that period . Should Something Like this happen again in the future . We did speak to one man called charles earlier, whos spoke about whats happened in his family. Hes lost his wife and also his mother during 2021. And he had this to say about the inquiry so far. Yeah, it was absolutely reckless on the behalf of the government. I reckless on the behalf of the government. I dont reckless on the behalf of the government. I dont feel they government. I dont feel they took the medication, medications appropriately and they didnt take the steps to protect the country or the people. You know, we knew social distancing was a huge part of this. And basically what they did is encourage crowds to gather in the middle of a pandemic. Its totally reckless. Reckless. Well, its been described by mps by some of them as one of the countrys worst Public Health failures. Can lessons be health failures. Can lessons be learned during this inquiry . We understand the hearings will take place until 2026, although there isnt a formal deadline of when they will publish some of those findings in the next few weeks. Well hear from the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and from him the current Prime Minister, rishi sunak, who was the chancellor at that time alongside some of those medical experts who were advising them and helping them dunng advising them and helping them during that time. But of course, for families, theyll be hoping that the current government and the further into the future can learn lessons from this pandemic. Yeah. Yeah thank you very much indeed for updating us there. Of course, as we continue to monitor what they look at and find out for all those families and relatives, weve been expecting you, mr bond, or at least weve been expecting quite a lot of your suits. Hundreds of items belonging to sir roger moore are going up hundreds of items belonging to sauctionr moore are going up hundreds of items belonging to sauction tomorrowe going up hundreds of items belonging to sauction tomorrow injoing up hundreds of items belonging to sauction tomorrow in londonw for auction tomorrow in london with bond fans queuing up to see if they can buy a piece of zero seven film history and help one of sir rogers cherished charities. Yes, of course. He worked very closely with unicef. Well, the chairman the the deputy chairman of the auctioneers, bonhams allowed us to spy on the preparations for a celebration of a man who truly now seems to have created did a golden gun. Golden gun. So this year marks the 50th anniversary of sir roger playing james bond for the very first time in live and let die. And he died, sadly, five years ago, and his family felt this was the right time to give his fans the world over a chance to bid on some of these lots. There are so some of these lots. There are so many unique items in this sale and from james bond interest, i think for me, this coat behind me , which is a chesterfield coat me, which is a chesterfield coat that he wore in his first film, live and let die. And in fact , live and let die. And in fact, in the very first scene, you see him coming out of jfk airport wearing the coat and he gets in a taxi on his way to see the villain of the film, mr big. Well, one of the most important lots in the sale is this james bond amiga seamaster watch, which a limited edition which is a limited edition number, but its actually unique because it was given to sir roger on the 50th anniversary of the franchise by Barbara Broccoli michael g. Wilson. Broccoli and michael g. Wilson. And are, of course , the and they are, of course, the producers of the bond franchise and engraved on the back of the strap actually says to roger, with love from barbara and michael. Well i think everyone knows that sir roger moore was a very keen skier and hes involved in two of the great ski chasesin involved in two of the great ski chases in bond bond history. This ski suit, i think, is just so iconic. It comes from his so iconic. It comes from his last film , the view to a kill last film, the view to a kill andits last film, the view to a kill and its the opening sequence when he comes down the slope and hes chased by a bunch of guys on skis with guns and he skis, then he snowboards and then he ends up in a in a submarine at the end of it, the cabinet behind me are some really fun things from his 40th anniversary swatch collection in this swatch watch collection in this wonderful 007 case. Weve got his wallet with his bank cards in it, and a couple of backgammon sets as well, one of which the one beneath here in the red leather case as he would play the red leather case as he would play on set with cubby broccoli. I understand , for high stakes. I understand, for high stakes. And they would sort of settle up at the end of the series. And if cubby he wouldnt cubby was winning, he wouldnt let back on set until let roger go back on set until theyd finished the game. So its stories behind its some Great Stories behind that and some great games played on imagine. Well, on the board. I imagine. Well, sir roger moore played james bond than any other actor bond more than any other actor seven times between 1973 and 1985. And in my opinion , hes 1985. And in my opinion, hes the best dressed of all the bonds. And here we have one of the most iconic dinner suits that he wore. And this is from the view to a kill. He wore it in that amazing scene at the eiffel tower where hes chasing after may day, played by grace jones. After may day, played by grace jones. And they go up and then jones. And they go up and then down the eiffel tower. Hes standing on a lift shaft going up the estimate on up and down. So the estimate on the suit is 20 to £30,000. And again, well see where this ends up on the day. Well, were up on the day. Well, were really, really excited about the sale. There has been unparalleled into rest and excitement the world over. Its been on tour in the states and also in france, and its a very accessible sale because weve got lots that are about £100 for a corgi toy car up to the big lots like his personal amiga car , oyster watch at 20 to 30,000. Of course , hes wonderful. James of course, hes wonderful. James bond suits as well. So bond suits as well. So well lets get the views now of the chairman of the james bond International Fan club, david black. David, thank you david black. David, thank you very much indeed for joining david black. David, thank you very much indeed forjoining us. Pips fancied this seamaster watch. I quite like the lamborghini skis. I just wonder what took your fancy. What took your fancy. To be fair, my wifes banned me from buying any more rubbish. Unfortunately, ive collected so many things over the years that shes told me ive forbidden him from looking. But there are some great things for sale there. Yeah. Someones going to enjoy going around this winter with the ski suit on and keep the warmth in and yeah, dinner jacket. Maybe keep the warmth in and yeah, dinnerjacket. Maybe i could dinnerjacket. Maybe i could have had that on today rather than i could have smartened up a bit for your fine program. What what seems astonishing. David is that. Is that roger moore actually had all this stuff in boxes for years , you know, and boxes for years, you know, and it was only recently that his family decided to do something with it. With it. I think its the case, isnt it , that when youre in that it, that when youre in that position, it probably means less to him than it would to us. You know, to the fans. They think thats great to him. Its just thats great to him. Its just another of clothing or another bit of clothing or a watch. I mean, watch that watch. I mean, the watch that would great thing, would be a great thing, wouldnt it . Happy that. It . Id be happy with that. Reflect, yeah. Although we reflect, i think, know , fleming issued yeah. Although we reflect, i think, a now , fleming issued yeah. Although we reflect, i think, a rolex fleming issued yeah. Although we reflect, i think, a rolex submarinersued him with a rolex submariner originally, which he could use as a knuckle duster. But i mean, its interesting that theres been, i think, probably a reassessment of the roger moore films and his position as bond, where he was treated perhaps, you know, as a bit of an imposter after all the sean connery films originally , i connery films originally, i think, yeah, people i grew up with, the roger moore films. With, the roger moore films. I loved them. I loved them. You know, i think it depends what era youre in. Sean connery was always a hard act to follow. Has favourites. Everyone has their favourites. Theres people swear seans theres people swear that seans the best. Others, like daniel craig. Et cetera. But roger, he held his own. He did a great job. Times were easier then, you know. It was a less complicated world, maybe. And i still , when world, maybe. And i still, when i go back and watch some of those films, i think theyre great, you know, live and let die. Classic film. Die. Thats a classic film. And were just looking at pictures of the of the white pictures now of the of the white ski suit and actually standing next to that is roger moores son. I think its two sons, geoffrey and christian, that was geoffrey, who looks astonishingly like his dad. Astonishingly like his dad. Its funny, i stood in the queue for the premiere. Im not dropping names. I stood in the queue for the premiere for about half hour, talking to half an hour, talking to geoffrey and it was only when i got to the front i realised who he was. But. But, he was. But. But, but. But. But, but. And i said to him, i said, what the hell are you standing here for . Us said, surely here with for . Us i said, surely you could have got he says, you could have got in. He says, yeah, stood the wrong yeah, i stood in the wrong queue, to use. Anyway, queue, wanted to use. Anyway, that just story that was just a little story about uh, you about geoffrey. But yes, uh, you know, all great. And ive got to say, we all miss roger. Yeah. And obviously, i mean, the family a bit of a the family is having a bit of a clear but the other aspect clear out, but the other aspect is much this will go is that much of this will go to, i think, unicef, which was one of sir rogers Favourite Charities , in fact, he worked charities, in fact, he worked tirelessly, didnt he, to help children the world. Children across the world. He did. He did an amazing amount of work. And he never wanted people. He didnt go bragging about. Yeah, he did a lot of yeah, he just did a lot of work for unicef and they i think they definitely miss his contribution. So this again, this will. Yes, just one more late. Donate isnt it . When you look at all the different items , david and different items, david and theyre all fabulous. What do you think will attract the most the largest bids . Yes, i think the largest bids . Yes, i think to be fair, things like the watch, thats unique. No ones going to get a watch like that. Thats going to go well. Um i think its all great things like the dinner suit, though. I dont know. And someone might get it and enjoy Walking Around the house on their own in it. Yeah, the problem is theyve still got flared trousers, still got the flared trousers, havent they, given the age of when films came out. When the films came out. Yeah. Always say things yeah. They always say things come back into fashion. Maybe it will. Harry styles is well into flared trousers. Well yeah thats right but i mean thats i guess thats the other aspect that he was , you other aspect that he was, you know, impeccably dressed wasnt he, in real life as well as in terms of his film appearances. Terms of his film appearances. Yes. And that was part of the roger moore sort of stamp. Roger moore sort of stamp. Yeah. Even. In his days as yeah. Even. In his days as a saint, he was always well dressed, wasnt very smart. So im not sure it would fit me, but david, its so interesting to get your thoughts on this and im sure its going to raise tens upon thousands of pounds for unicef, isnt it . So thank you. Thank you for talking us through it. And giving us giving us your favourites. Favourites. You have a sneaky well let you have a sneaky bid telling so. Bid without telling you wife so. Right. Wont notice. Right. No, she wont notice. Dont tell her, david. Dont tell her, david. Thanks very much indeed. Thanks very much indeed. Thanks very much indeed. Want to show you some we want to show you some incredible pictures now. You might have seen this on the news earlier. Its the aftermath of earlier. Its the aftermath of a fire last night which was caused by a Lightning Strike which broke out at a processing facility in oxfordshire. Yeah, you can see the aerial shots there showing the extent of the damage, the smoke still well, this is what happened last night with the videos showing this the sky and this fireball in the sky and then bang, almost like some kind of explosion that we see from a war zone and a huge plume of flame and smoke high into the air in the oxfordshire night time time. And it kept pulsing away as, of course, the aftermath of other units there, catching fire as well. But if you were a resident living in the area or a motorist heading down the a34 near oxford, you must have been wondering what on earth was going on. Well, Stuart Hoskin is Business Owner and former big brother contestant. You stuart, were an eye witness. So what did you make of it when you first saw it . My goodness me. Yeah , it was quite yeah, it was quite interesting as we were. Hello , by the way. Hello, by the way. Hello, by the way. So we were we were sat in the house. Firstly , the lights firstly, the lights flickered, which is no no surprise with the storm that was going off around us. And then there was this, this like huge Lightning Strike and being a responsible pet owner, my dog was running around outside, so i thought id better get him in. And as i opened up the door, there was just like a massive, just a huge boom like like thunder, but like a single single explosion. And i then looked outside and thought, well, thats funny because theres a theres a very interesting sunset happening. Obviously realised and then obviously realised that there wasnt a sunset and the illuminated like you the sky was illuminated like you can in that picture, i mean, can see in that picture, i mean, literally where are the seven trent green plant is in yarnton. Its no more than half a mile from the back of our house. So it was it was quite an impressive sight, to be fair. And it seemed to keep going as well. Thats the thing as well. Thats the other thing i mean, obviously a i mean, obviously with a lightning you Lightning Strike, you know, you get the big flash and its over. But this continued. Get the big flash and its over. Butyeah, his continued. Get the big flash and its over. Butyeah, its continued. Get the big flash and its over. Butyeah, it was1tinued. Get the big flash and its over. Butyeah, it was theied. Get the big flash and its over. Butyeah, it was the pulsating, i yeah, it was the pulsating, i think i think someone described it is. It as you can see where it is. Pulsing. And thats what it as you can see where it is. was pulsing. And thats what it as you can see where it is. was doing. |g. And thats what it was doing. It was you know, no, no heat intensity or anything, but you could in the sky very could just see in the sky very its very much pulsing in the red sky. And you look it, red sky. And if you look at it, it like a sunset right. It looks like a sunset right. And but its obviously in the wrong place for the sun. Then sort of doing but then it was sort of doing this very sort of weird, illuminating on and off, almost like light effect. So like a Northern Light effect. So it was was impressive. It was it was it was impressive. But a sort of slightly worrying time. Worrying at the same time. And importantly, yeah. And most importantly, there no one there was, we understand no one injured in the incident. Injured in the incident. Emergency services, of course, were called. It did cause some traffic issues. But but nobody was hurt. Was hurt. Yeah, thank goodness. Yeah, thank goodness. I think , you know, when you i think, you know, when you look at Something Like that and fortunately time fortunately i think the time of night, it was, you know, 7 10, you they said, put you know, as they said, they put a very quick announcement up because i posted onto onto onto the social media around does anybody else seen this . And then the statement came back from the company. Yes. You know, yes. Its you know, everyones fine. Um just just, just a very bizarre event. Right. You can see, you know, those things. We take our dog for a walk very close to those. They are huge. They are huge. And when i, you know, when you see extent actually you see the extent of actually whats quite whats gone on, its quite horrific, really. And i think people were still being that area. And i think people were still beinwmorning. That area. And i think people were still beinwmorning. And that area. And i think people were still beinwmorning. And we that area. And i think people were still beinwmorning. And we can area. And i think people were still beinwmorning. And we can stilli. This morning. And we can still see there. See the smoke rising there. Clearly, bit clearly, there were a bit worried about what sort of gases and other things would have been emanating that yeah, emanating from that. Yeah, i think was biofuels. Think it was only biofuels. I dont think was anything i dont think it was anything particularly. Coming out and no one was coming out and evacuate village. Evacuate the village. For sure. So you that was for sure. So you know, any excuse to be locked into im sure. Into the local pub, im sure. But didnt didnt happen. But they didnt didnt happen. You sound disappointed. Okay you sound disappointed. Okay well, we got to the pub and lock you in there. Oh, really . Thats such shame. Yeah. So have you actually got your own video of this now that youll be paying for your sort of grandkids and so on in years to come . Years to come . Do you know how stupid am i . So i walk outside, you know, in the excitement i take one single picture because, you know, im not im obviously im looking live in the real event. You know, im not one of these people that goes to a concert and it. I concert and videos it. I actually it. Concert and videos it. I act|so. Y it. Concert and videos it. I act|so thereforet. Concert and videos it. I act|so therefore i do oh i think so therefore i do oh i think weve lost you. But thank you very much, stuart, for updating us with your eyewitness reports. And as your eyewitness reports. And as pip says, glad to report no one injured, but clearly a huge event which theyre still coping with in terms of damping down and cleaning up. Absolutely incredible. Well thank you for your company this afternoon on the live desk. That is it from us for there is it from us for today.
