CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Gasoline retailers are spotty on supplies as the shortage from the Colonial Pipeline cyberattack continues. Tiger Fuel President Gordon Sutton told Charlottesville Right Now Tuesday afternoon this is a situation that has not happened in the company’s 39-year history. He said they were not expecting to get deliveries to any of their area stations until Friday, though a tanker truck pulled up to the Market at Preston shortly before 1 Wednesday afternoon to cheers from loyal customers on the scene.
Gas lines are back in Charlottesville for the first time since the ’70s as stations that get fuel become very popular. Many stations have lines out to the main roads, and some of those have employees directing traffic around their parking lots to the pumps. An hour after the truck made its delivery to Preston, a line of vehicles was backed onto Harris Street with people waiting their turn.
