Gardner Board of Health Prevention Coordinator Veronika Patty raises awareness of substance abuse in the city

GARDNER — The title of “prevention coordinator” might be a new one at City Hall, but for Veronika Patty it’s simply a new name for the job she has been doing for several years in the community.
As the coalition coordinator for the Gardner Community Action Team (GCAT), it was Patty’s job to help raise awareness about substance abuse prevention and mental health in the city. But when federal grant funding for the position began to run out, officials decided to create the new position as part of the Board of Health.
