Garda unions are concerned at how new rules around mandatory quarantine will be policed.
The government plans to introduce new regulations allowing Gardaí to call to people’s homes to check they’re self-isolating.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors is concerned about the health implications, for its members in checking on people self-isolating at home or in a quarantine hotel to ensure they are following rules.
The group say there’s been no consultation or instructions to its members, while also noting there will be serious operational and logistical challenges to implementing of the potential regulations.
