Residents of Rose Place, on Tuesday morning blocked the main road through the community with household garbage and other debris, which they said were left unattended, i.e. undisposed since before Christmas Day.
However, following quick postings of the action on social media platforms, health officials and the Solid Waste Management Unit responded swiftly to have the garbage removed and the throughway reopened.
Some angry and frustrated residents of the West Kingstown community, which is earmarked to undergo transformation with the construction of a New Kingstown Port, said that the community had become a dumping ground for garbage from business places in Kingstown, as well as coconut vendors.
