A Galesburg man was arrested in McDonough County Thursday for numerous charges, including Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Fleeing and Eluding, and Aggravated Assault. According to a release from McDonough County Sheriff's Department Nick Petitgout, deputies responded to Timberview Lakes Campground, near Bushnell for a disorderly subject who allegedly threatened to shoot campground management. The subject fled the area, traveling towards Macomb in a white Dodge pickup truck. A pickup truck was located near the sheriff's office and, when Macomb Police officers attempted to stop the truck, the driver pulled into an ally behind the Heritage Days carnival and refused to exit the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver as 51-year-old Jeffrey A. Griswold of Galesburg. Law enforcement says that Griswold began revving his vehicle's engine while throwing several items at officers and doing burnouts with the tires. Officers and deputies continued to negotiate with Griswold, who allegedly disobeyed commands rendered by officers. A McDonough County K9 responded to the scene to assist with getting Griswold to exit the vehicle and he was forcefully removed by officers and deputies and taken into custody. He was treated by Lifeguard Ambulance for minor injuries and transported to the McDonough County Jail. Officers were treated for minor injuries at McDonough District Hospital. Griswold also had an outstanding Knox County Warrant at the time of his arrest.
