GALESBURG — Galesburg City Council member Lindsay Hillery was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery in a public place Wednesday evening, her third arrest of 2021.
Officers were called to Monkey Business, 72 S. Cherry St., at 7:38 p.m. for a report of a fight in progress.
Upon arrival, officers were told Hillery, 42, had struck a 31-year-old Galesburg woman in the face. Hillery was no longer at the scene.
The victim stated she was with Hillery’s ex-husband at the tavern when Hillery began to call her names from across the bar. She stated Hillery then came over to her, continuing to insult her and call her names. The victim stated Hillery was upset because the victim is in a dating relationship with Hillery’s ex-husband.
