Finland's Wihuri Sibelius prize, worth 150,000 Euros, has chosen Tristan Murail, 76, as its next recipient. A Messiaen student who worked with Boulez at Ircam, he was professor of composition at Columbia until his retirement in 2011. The prize will relieve any concern he might have about pension values.
