The woman found dead Tuesday in her Framingham apartment suffered a significant slash wound to the back of her neck, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan revealed Thursday morning. Jasmyn Beatty, 28, was found dead at Halstead Apartments on Worcester Road.Ryan said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not issued an official ruling on the cause and manner of Beatty's death yet, but the case is being investigated as an "apparent homicide.""Right now, unfortunately, we are not able to say in these early stages whether this was a random attack or was committed by someone known to Jasmyn," Ryan said. Ryan and Mayor Yvonne Spicer on Thursday urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activity. They also promised extra patrols by Framingham Police."When an act of violence is perpetrated in this city, it scares us. It shakes us," said Spicer. "As a community, we will not tolerate violence in Framingham. Solving this case is a top priority.""We want to be there for those residents, specifically, at this time," said Deputy Chief Sean Riley.Officials are encouraging anyone who saw or heard anything unusual early Tuesday morning in the area of 1640 Worcester Road, specifically the Halstead Apartment property complex, to call Framingham police at 508-532-5911 or 508-872-1212."If you have a piece of information, no matter how small, it may be helpful to us," said Ryan.Staples confirmed Wednesday that Beatty was a senior financial analyst with the company since March 1, 2021.Nervous neighbors said they want answers about what happened to the woman."I feel scared. I live here. We spent the whole day yesterday trying to figure out what was happening," resident Wellington Santos said.Residents said police blocked off the trash room and dumpsters outside while they were investigating.Ryan said there were no surveillance cameras in the complex but noted the investigation will seek footage from other sources nearby.
