FRAMINGHAM — Turning 13 is a major milestone for many children of Jewish faith. It signifies a young person’s coming of age, when they will start being seen as a adult who is responsible for their actions.
Boys have a ceremony known as a bar mitzvah and for girls the rite is called a bat mitzvah.
Like millions of others, Framingham resident Gabriel Liftman turned 13 during a year when the world is dealing with a pandemic. That has forced synagogues to cut down on the number of people at their gatherings, which limited Gabriel’s chance of having a proper ceremony with friends and family.
