This is not survivorable the urgent warning we got from Central Florida officials to all the people living in Hurricane Miltons path. The Evacuation Zone involves Six Million people. And this storm is hours away now from colliding with floridas gulf coast. The impact has the potential to change the coastline. Our Meteorologist Janice Dean was saying it will do that. President biden and Vicepresident Kamala Harris are getting briefed were told on preparations. Officials are bracing for extreme winds and the windshield on this has grown exponentially so its going to affect far many more people than we thought at first. The winds could cause widespread power outages, like we just saw less than two weeks ago across six states in the southeast, including florida. Helene hit florida first. This is the second punch. 15 feet of lifethreatening Storm Surge expected, and time is running short for people who actually want to get out of the way. And you might have to go a little bit farther away than you thought. Orlando, Places North of where we were first watching for could see A Hundred mile an hour winds now with that windshield growing wider and wider. The footprint of the storm is getting bigger. Mighty Hurricane Milton is turning toward a potentially catastrophic collision with floridas West Coast. And i just explained the East Coast of floridas going to hit it, too. Going to feel it as well. They already have confirmed touchdown of tornados and a tornadic Super Cell now that has been spun off by milton. The wind is powerful enough just to do that. That tornado that whipped across inner state 75 confirmed, the national Weather Service is now warning people to seek shelter. Fox News Meteorologist Adam klotz has the latest from Hurricane Milton enter the Fox Weather center. Adam. Hey there harris, unfortunately more tornados are continuing to spin up even as we speak but heres where that hurricane currently spins, winds at 145 miles an hour, still a category 4 hurricane and you talked about the size of the storm growing, were watching it right in front of our eyes, this is becoming a larger storm. The winds might slow down just a little bit but as those winds slow down, theyll still be deadly and the storm will continue to grow. Every one of these boxes, this is a Tornadoworn Storm currently on the ground, youre seeing several of those. You see the pinching is a confirmed tornado on the ground, it means someone has seen it actually with their eyes and were looking at some Tornadoworn Storms there over Fort Myers. So tornados continue to spin up and will continue to spin up as we have all the conditions if place across the southern half of the state for those tornados. This is not unheard of when you see a hurricane like this, although they typically dont become as powerful as weve seen so far. Heres the Forecast Track as we get into the overnight hours, winds continue to die down just a little bit. I dont want to say theyre dying down because 125 miles an hour is still a major category 3 hurricane and then it stays a hurricane as it drags across the entire state through the overnight hours into early thursday morning. So as you mentioned, the East Coast is still likely going to see a hurricane moving across it. Heres the size of the storm, even though its still well out to sea. Were beginning to see those initial winds getting up to tropical storm level, getting close to the coast or approaching the coast. Weve seen some Wind Gusts there up to 40 miles an hour down in Key West 55 miles an hour as we head through the rest of this afternoon into the evening were just going to continue to watch this spread out. Again everything in the yellow, those are tropical Storm Force winds, you see the Hurricane Force gusts starting to arrive by 5 00 p. M. Right along the coast in places like sarasota and then you continue through the evening hours and you suddenly see those consistent hurricaneforce winds, Thats Everything there in the red. But a huge swath of the state is dealing with at least some of these winds and then of course this drags itself across the state. One of the biggest concerns with this entire Storm System continues to be Storm Surge. Were looking at 12 feet of Storm Surge just a wall of water with this system acrosss the Tampa Bay area. The 15 feet is now settled a little further south. It does include places like siesta key, venice, these are very popular destinations where there are a ton of buildings right along the coast, 15 feet of water will be devastating, 12 feet of water will also be devastating taking you down to Fort Myers beach. Here are those winds and i will leave you with this harris but these are the winds, 110 miles an hour plus, right, so youre talking 125, 130 there across sarasota, Cape Corral and orlando as you mentioned still included in this area where you could see 75 to 110 mile an hour winds. This is going to be widespread and devastating. And again the East Coast is still going to be dealing with it into early Tomorrow Morning. So whats it like obviously the winds are pick up since the last time i saw you. Yeah, last time we were on the Beach Weve come inland not that far inland about a block and a half from the gulf, the gulf is starting to get a little rougher, 23 foot swells but the big issue with the Search And Wind is whats left from helene harris. We have piles and piles of damage. Yes yesterday they were able to get it off Gulf Boulevard at least in eyesight but all these neighborhoods miles and miles of neighborhood streets on the Barrier Islands look like this. Talked to someone in the Southwest Florida area, they still have damage out there on their front porch, front driveway. But all you see here, mattresses, some of these roberts heavier, but when the surge comes in later this afternoon and this evening, this stuff is going to start floating and then you bring in Wind Gusts in excess of A Hundred miles an hour and then youre talking about flying projectiles. So you have the surge destructive waves super imposed on top is a real nightmare. The one thing we dont have is additional debris or items coming out of homes because everything in the houses that was impacted is out on the sidewalk. So i have been told and long Boat Key where people tend to hunker down and say weve got this, it is now a ghost town. Tampa where my parents left last night is a ghost town. These places are ghost towns. And the one hope that everyone has, my mom said as im taking pictures upstairs, i hear The Voice of Governor Desantis and i hear steady leadership and i hear results and it gives me comfort and i think theres a lot of floridians that feel that way. Carley i was speaking to Somebody Yesterday who lives in Treasure Island and he said he lost the first floor of his house during helene and he says he knows by friday hes not going to have a house at all. So people are leaving but the emotional toll will stay. Harris emily. Emily and i think about who i brought up yesterday, those that the infirm, the elderly, those in living assisted facilities, incarcerated, the zoos, theres a lot of people who arent able bodied or arent easy to leave or require the hospitals, hospitals requiring a lot of equipment. So those just chasing the storm and refusing to leave for their own sort of satisfaction, i imlooker them to leave too. All it does is risk the lives of the emergency medical personal that he will then are brought in to save them with the frightening debris and the projectiles that we can anticipate dr. Well, florida, as you know, just experienced a destructive hurricane in less than two weeks were on the heels of Hurricane Helene and i can tell you, standing with Law Enforcement officials, in the aftermath of that destructive hurricane, seeing a Concrete Slab where a house once stood or looking at a home that is crumbled and talking to a sheriff that said we had A Thousand calls for help, we knew where to go because there comes a point where we cant get out there and rescue people we take down where that calls coming from we go straight there and thats when we see what happened when someone chose to stay in one of these areas that weve asked folks to evacuate. So i think coming off helene, many of us are imploring, based on what weve seen and witnessed, you know, please think over that natural human instinct, and we know that its there, to protect your home. They know what theyre doing and if you are told to evacuate, please evacuate immediately. Do not wait until it is too late. And in the hours and days ahead, President Biden and i and our administration will continue to do everything we can to protect the people who have been in the path of this storm. And once the storm has passed, we will be there to help folks recover and rebuild. As we continue to do for those communities in florida, georgia, north and South Carolina and across the southeast who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. Mr. President, Madam Vicepresident , you will now receive a briefing on the latest forecast for Hurricane Milton and actions that we have taken to prepare for it and be ready to respond to it you will hear from administrator of fema deanne criswell, the director mike brennan, the director of the national Weather Service ken graham, secretary of Homeland Security mayorkas and the Come Endan of the Coast Guard Admiral linda fagan. Well begin with Administrator Criswell. Over to you deanne. Thank you, liz. Mr. President, Madam Vicepresident , i just want to assure you, we are taking this storm very seriously. As you will hear from dr. Brennan shortly, milton is currently a category 4 storm and will remain a hurricane as it crosses over florida. At your direction, mr. President, i will be traveling down to Tallahassee Tonight to meet with my team as well as our State Partners and i will be there to assess the damages and the impacts immediately following the storm. Working in close coordination with the state to ensure that they have everything that they need to support their priorities. As you have always directed me to do, i am leaning forward to make sure that we are strategically placing our resources and our teams to be able to rapidly respond in florida. There are currently over A Thousand federal personnel on the ground in florida supporting the efforts from Hurricane Helene, as well as the previous storms that have happened over the last few years. And i have directed, at your direction, an additional 1200 Search And Rescue personnel from fema, the Coast Guard and the department of defense, to stage in florida so they are ready to take action as soon as milton makes Land Fall. This also includes 30 highwater vehicles, helicopters, as well as boats, to be able to go in and support the counties and the states as needed. Ive also moved over 500 ambulances to help assist with the response, 6 Incident Management Assistance teams into one specifically into tampa and others throughout the region, multiple Power Assessment teams and dozen of medical Facility Asment teams so they can go in and check on the health and medical facilities as soon as the storm passes. And, mr. President and Madam Vicepresident , i have also moved millions of meals and liters of water into florida to support any of those immediate needs. I real appreciate, mr. President and Madam Vicepresident , your continuous effort to help lift up the warnings and the guidance that you just gave about what people need to do in the path of Hurricane Milton. This is an extremely dangerous storm and we need all of the residents that are in the path of the storm to listen to their local officials. They will tell you if theres still time to evacuate or what you need to do if you are still where youre at. They will give you the right information about what you need to do to protect yourself where you are at right now. Sometimes just traveling a few miles inland can mean the difference between Life And Death and nobody has to lose their life as a result of this storm. Much so, in short mr. President and Madam Vicepresident , i assure you we are taking this storm extremely seriously. We are focused and we are ready to support the people of florida. Deanne, youre doing a hell of a job. You always have. Weve been through a lot of this together, all three of us, including the vicepresident. And i have one question right now, though. What are you most worried about today and into tomorrow, and what messaging can we do to help people in the hours before it makes Land Fall . Mr. President, the biggest concern is making sure people have gotten out of harms way. Over the next 24 hours, we are going to see significant winds, we are going to see Storm Surge, we are going to see flooding from the rain. People need to be able to take this storm seriously. They need to move, if they still have time to move, out of harms way. And we are prepared to support florida with additional Search And Rescue assets to help save lives. Thats our immediate concern, mr. President, is saving lives over the next 24 hours. Have you ever seen a storm like this one since youve been in charge . I think this is going to be one of the biggest ones we have seen after it makes Land Fall. We saw a lot of impact from Hurricane Ian, but this one is different. This one just looks different and i think were going to have a lot of impacts and people that are going to need our help, sir. Thank you very much. Administrator criswell . Yes, maam. Are we concerned about any Misinformation Or Disinformation regarding evacuations that we need to clear up at this point . Theres been a lot of misinformation out there, Madam Vicepresident , thats for sure. But i have not heard anything specific to the evacuations. I think that the local officials, the state officials, have been very strong in getting that message out there and getting people to move out of harms way. I was in florida on monday, i met with the mayor of tampa as well as the mayor of st. Petersburg and we saw people evacuating and so they are listening to their local officials and that is encouraging. Thats great. Thank you. I think well move on then thank you Administrator Criswell. Well move to Director Brennan from the national hurricane center. Thank you, liz. Mr. President, Madam Vicepresident , good afternoon. As Administrator Criswell mentioned, we are just hours away from seeing a potentially catastrophic hurricane Land Fall along the West Coast of florida with the center of milton expected to cross the coast late this evening or very early Tomorrow Morning as a powerful major hurricane and a large hurricane at that. We are already seeing multiple life threatening hazards playing out across florida, multiple Tornado Warnings in effect across portions of southern florida, winds increasing, heavy rainfall spreading across much of the state and conditions are going to rapidly deteriorate over the next few hours, especially where Land Fall is going to occur along the West Coast. Thats where were expecting that devastating Storm Surge of as much as 1015 feet aboveground level from somewhere near the Tampa Bay region southward to Port Charlotte with significant Storm Surge extending hundreds of miles even farther south to the Fort Myers and Naples Area and that is why we have been supporting so many Evacuation Decisions to get people away from that devastating Storm Surge. Time is running out now for people to leave along the West Coast before conditions deteriorate further. Additionally milton is going to be a powerful hurricane when it makes Land Fall and move quickly across the state and remain at Hurricane Intensity as it moves across Florida Tonight and as it enters the Western Atlantic during the day tomorrow. So that is going to bring the risk of Hurricane Conditions to much of the central portion of the state. We have Hurricane Warnings in effect from Fort Myers up through tampa to Cedar Key along the West Coast all the way through the i four corridor across orlando to Daytona Beach up to Saint Augustine including Cape Canaveral area and the East Coast down to port saint lucie. So a large area is at risk of seeing devastating wind impacts widespread power outages, structural damage and that can lead to a very unsafe environment after the storm where we tend to see a lot of poststorm fatalities in this very dangerous environment thats left. Additionally, we are expecting very heavy rainfall, 612 inches, amounts as high as 18 inches across the heavy populated i four corridor from tampa to orlando to Daytona Beach which could lead to widespread catastrophic and life threatening Flash Flooding and urban Flooding Tonight and into thursday in that area, and that a area where we lost about 16 people in Hurricane Ian to that same type of flooding. So there is a a tremendous risk to both Life And Property there. I do want to thank the Administrator And Fema and her for her teams support and our coordination on thatten a i finally want to thank the Noah And Hurricane Air Force hunters flying into milton for days now providing us tremendously valuable direct data that has helped inform our lifesaving forecast and warnings. So thank you mr. President, Madam Vicepresident. Mike i know youre tired of hearing from me ive been talking to you so much lately but i appreciate your constant Input Youve given me and letting me know whats going on. What more can you tell us about how the location of this storms going to affect the Storm Surge in florida . I mean, because thats pretty consequential, right . The surge . Is that what youre focusing on . Yes, mr. President. Just a shift of a few miles in the Land Fall location will make a big difference in what area sees that very worst Storm Surge. So a track of the center to the north of Tampa Bay would push the highest Storm Surge into Tampa Bay itself, a track five or ten or 20 miles south would push that higher Storm Surge to the sarasota Port Charlotte area. Even as close as we are to Land Fall its not really possible to tell exactly where that worst surge will occur. Its one wobble away from shifting ten or 20 miles. So thats why weve conveyed that risk across such a large area to help support the evacuation of much of that west central coast of florida. But Tampa Bay is particularly vulnerable, correct . Correct, yes, mr. President. Its one of the most vulnerable locations along the entire West Coast of florida because water gets funneled up into the bay. If you were to see a worst Case Scenario there you could see Storm Surge as much as twice as high as they saw during helene where it got up to seven or eight feet in the bay it could potentially get up above thanks a lot, i appreciate it. Joe. And might, it is good to see you again and thank you for all your work. For the folks living in florida long time and experiencing these storms, many times you are talking with them about how th
