Information. Millions of americans need now to brace for Hurricane Milton. This is round two during a suddenly violent hurricane season. Tampa, florida is facing unsurvivable conditions. We know from 12 days ago with helene the forecasters mean it. Now we pray that it is going to go off course but you have to be ready. The storm remains a category 4. It has been a 5 along the way and likely return to some 160 to 180 mileperhour winds being carried by the cat 5. President biden is set to speak at every moment after a briefing he is receiving by fema officials. That is critical. There is all sorts of talk about what fema can do and what it hasnt done for Hurricane Helene victims and potentially could be facing more people to help by the end of this week. Officials have ordered mandatory evacuations now for people in a Dozen Florida counties, 5 1 2 Million people in florida living along the Gulf Coast must leave the area immediately. Lets watch. We are leaving. This is the first time in 12 years well be leaving for a storm. We are evacuating 11 miles inland just cant take any chances after seeing what helene did. That was 100 miles off shore. Harris a lot of people are starting to prepare for the worst and doing it early. 4 Million people live in the six counties surrounding Tampa Bay. Some live in Mobile Homes and rvs especially vulnerable to severe weather. Florida Senator Marco Rubio posted this. Several years ago, i asked the national Hurricane Center to show me what the worst Case Storm hitting florida would look like. It will weaken a little bit as it approaches the West Coast of florida but the concern is the Storm Surge. That will stay the same. Even if we talk about a Borderline Category 3 or 4 hurricane when it makes impact the Storm Surge would be upwards of ten feet and it is not survivable in some of these areas. Thats why you are seeing language like catastrophic and please evacuate because you will not survive a ten to 15 foot Storm Surge. Well see a little more strengthening but i think that this is what well have, a category 4 or 3 making Landfall Interacting with a trough, that is steering the storm. North of the storm is where we get heavy rainfall upwards of a foot. South of it is where we see the devastating Storm Surge into areas that are extremely vulnerable to Storm Surge and that is the Tampa Bay area. Ten to 15 feet under water because you have all of this water from the Gulf Of Mexico piling into the bays and inlets and this is a worstcase scenario. Thats indeed what the track is saying. Now, we look at places like Fort Myers Up To ten feet. Thats also going to be devastating for them. Hurricaneforce winds, at least a category 3. 110 milesperhour for duration of hours as it crosses over the florida peninsula, still seeing a hurricane for orlando Up Towards Daytona Beach upwards of a foot of rainfall. The real take away here, harris, is the Tampa Bay area needs to brace for catastrophic Storm Surge. That is the push of the ocean in towards these bays and inlets, Tampa Bay is the most susceptible city in the u. S. To with stand that Storm Surge. Harris two things. From what we just saw with helene, im looking for the reason why it stayed on land and stayed so powerful for so long. Was that because it was a bigger storm when it hit . What are they looking for here . You said it will remain a cat 3 and could cross the state. It will cross the state. It will still be a hurricane. But i was listening to governor desantis earlier fox friends. The state of florida can with stand a category 3, 2, 1 hurricane winds. Well see Power Outages and over a foot of rainfall but it is the Storm Surge into the vulnerable area here along the West Coast, the Gulf Coast. That is because of the topography. Very shallow. It is not the case for whats happening up north. Our friends in lakeland, florida, where they had to wait for hours for sandbags, cars sneaking around the parking lot. He also said this morning there will be Evacuation Centers set up all along evacuation routes. We see tropicana field, have cots ready. Florida is working with hotels to keep prices low to make sure they arent price gouging. The current path is affecting the Tampa Bay Area And Cut directly across the State East to west for the potential to this storm to enter florida as a hurricane and leave florida as a hurricane on the atlantic coast. This could be the worst storm to hit florida in over a Century And God willing it wont be but thats what it is looking like right now. Immediately approved the Prelandfall Emergency declarations in florida. The second one in a week. Second time in a week. Two before that, by the way. And i sent Fema Administrator down to Florida Yesterday to work intensively with state and local partners as we prepare to put more resources. The work in North Carolina and florida in the coming days. I call on the airlines on other companies to provide services to accommodate evacuations and not to engage in price gouging. Just do it on the level. And Last Night i spoke again with the governor of florida, desantis, and Tampa Mayor castor, and i made clear to them they should reach out, including to me directly, with everything else they may need as they see the storm hits. I gave them my personal number to contact me here in the White House. Most importantly i have urged Everyone Everyone currently located in Hurricane Miltons path to listen to local officials and follow the safety instructions. You have all been reporting on the highways, shoulders being open. Everybody heading out. If you are under evacuation orders, you should evacuate now, now. You should have already evacuated. Its a matter of life and death. Thats not hyperbole. A matter of life and death. Fema has provided 300 ambulances, for people who cant move themselves out of Healthcare Facilities and while we prepare for Hurricane Milton were surging resources in North Carolina, georgia, tennessee, and others to respond to Hurricane Helene. It is real. The impact is still there. We will leave we wont leave until the job is done. It will take time and before it is all over it will take tens of billions of dollars to get it done.
