United states is not in a declared war against a major foe like the vietnam war, the korean war, the second world war. So, to that extent we dont have troops in combat in a declashed war. But, of course, any day of the week, we have troops deployed all around the world. And one of the things about our being in a dangerous world, and having an important role in supporting our partners and allies around the world, is that any time one of those members of the american Armed Forces could be targeted. President trump, when he was in charge, when he waS President , un destabilized and weakened our critical global alliances by being unpredictable. Disrespectful, and in some cases, actually picking fights with our closest partners and allies. Whether in the indopacific nor nato and in europe. Bret right. I think President Biden nato and strengthened our alliances and Vice President harris will continue. And i dont think that Donald Trump has changed in the last four years. I think Liz Cheney has changed. I know Kamala Harris hasnt changed. You just mentioned that she served on the senate Intelligence Committee with Senator Coons. I served with her there for four years. Can i tell you she was just as naive and reckless in private on that committee as she is as the Vice President and as a president ial candidate. At every turn, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have made the world more dangerous. Bret you listened to Senator Coons, there defending the harris record, how they are handling the Middle East, whats your reaction to that . Well, what Senator Coons is not a record im familiar with, bret, from the very beginning of israels fight against bloodthirsty iranian backed terrorists a year ago, President Biden and Vice President harris haS Put more pressure on israel than they have put on hamas or hezbollah or iran. You know, Senator Coons said that they or they celebrated the killing of Hassan Nasrallah, hezbollahs Terrorist Master Mind mind. That was the same day they both called for a ceasefire against hezbollah. Once again, they are putting pressure on israel not to mount a vigorous retaliatory strike against iran after tehran has launched almost 200 ballistic missiles at innocent civilian populations in israel. They imposed a De Facto Arms Embargo on many categories of weapons earlier this year. They have insisted that they are not helping israel with Intelligence Sharing against hezbollah. Even today, the biden administration took the side of the antiantisemitic united nations over israel. One of the delegates saying that the Ila Union notified all workers an agreement has been reached and that Port Workers must report back to work tomorrow. Were being told that a final deal will have to be struck by January 15th. Giving a lot of time here. Otherwise, the proposal for a 62 Wage Increase goes off the table. But it seems like for the interim, that this standoff, will ships off the coast of these ports will come to an end, which is a big deal for the economy. Because i think this was this was shaping up, this longshoremans strike, which could easily have lasted until election day, as a really major disruptive force. And a Sense Something that gives the voters a sense of chaos under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who, by the way, were on the side of the strikers. So, in addition to this terrible sort of slow Motion Tragedy Unfolding after hurricane he had lane and the administrations sluggish response to that, a devastating strike would just be about the worst thing politically that could happen and now it looks like its just gone away. Bret yeah. Julia, thoughts on this . Politically, really . Yeah. Look, i mean im sure that democrats are somewhat breathing a sigh of relief. Had you republicans, including former President Trump really tying Vice President Kamala Harris to this strike and, of course, this was happening as we saw the devastation across much of the southeast from Hurricane Helene, so there was a lot of anxiety, obviously, as to how that could impact Recovery Efforts or if this strike and the devastation caused in the southeast could cause more of an economic impact. But, certainly a sigh of relief forever democrats, you know, a lot of republicans i have chatted to really in the runup to tonights Breaking News, bret have essentially said they were confused. Why did President Biden sort of not get involved in this or get involved at least publicly for political purposes . Bret all right. Lets head to the campaign trail. Some sights and sound from that. If Lyin Kamala gets four more years instead of a golden age, america will instead be plunged into a dark age. Character matters. Kamala harris has it. Her vision is about bringing us together. People are being reminded about the danger that Donald Trump poses to our country. Kamala harris First Day was 1400 days ago and look at the results. The world is on fire. But the polls are exactly where they have been, if you look at the real clear politics average head to head, its basically where its been. You know, within the margin of error here. 2 points and as you look at the battleground states, its, you know, Swings Day to day one way or another. But, for the most part, it is really really tight, especially in the seven states. Byron, tonight, we took live In Ripen wisconsin, Liz Cheney, former congresswoman, conservative, endorsing Kamala Harris, largely she said in her speech about January 6th and the former president s behavior during that day. Does that move the needle on republicans or disaffected republicans at all . No, i think the one thing we can say is that given all the things that have happened in this campaign, Liz Cheneys endorsement of Kamala Harris iS Probably not going to move the needle at all because, as you were saying, what has been remarkable about this, is that all of these things that have happened, both conventions, an assassination attempt, all of these things that have happened have not really changed this race too much. You have these two really big dugin sides on either the democratic and the republican side and you have a small layer of voters in the middle who stem apparently havent decided to which way to go. And thats what the whole next 33 Days Fight is about. Bret i want to play a soundbite from the former First Lady, julia, about the issue of abortion. Its a full screen, im sorry. Sorry about that. I thought it was a soundbite. And this is former First Lady melania trump, why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body. A womans fundamental right of individual liberty to her own Life Grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy as she wishes. Former president was asked about that by Bill Melugin. He said she has her own thoughts. I told her to say what she believes. How do you think that effects the issue of abortion when it comes to former President Trump, republicans . Does it . I think it does. Because these comments are coming on the heels of comments from senator j. D. Vance, President Trumps Running Mate at the excuse me the Vice President ial debate where he essentially said that republicans have to regain the trust of voters on this issue and during that debate we also saw former President Trump himself post to truth social that he would absolutely veto a national Abortion Ban which democrats say, you know, he would, you know, pass the national Abortion Ban so, him pushing back on those claims. Look, i think what you are seeing here and although the former First Lady certainly went farther than Trump And Vance did, but you are seeing the Trump Campaign and republicans trying to run to the senator on this issue or trying to soften their stance on this issue. Look, this has been an issue that has, you know, negatively impacted republicans in past elections in 2022, obviously, in the aftermath of overturning roe v. Wade. We saw that this, you know, the Red Wave we were supposed to see was in a way blunted because democrats were focusing so much on abortion. We saw it, also last year in virginias off year, 2023, legislative election. So, republicans very cognizant of the fact that this is a tough issue for them. Polling also reflects that there was a Kaiser Family Foundation poll released last month that showed 54 of or 53 of americans said they trust Kamala Harris more on that issue. 34 say the same thing about trump. So a tough issue. This is them trying to regain their footing on it. Bret byron, q quickly i heard say hurts the former president. If anything, it seems like it softens and maybe shores up that he wouldnt pass or sign a national Abortion Ban. Well, you know, those are both kind of persuasive arguments, listen, i think the Bottom Line is, what mrs. Trump said right there sounds a lot more like Kamala Harris than it does the republican ticket. And this is something that Donald Trump has had just a lot of trouble dealing with and its not really going to get any better. Because he did provide the judges and the energy and the president ial power that led to the repeal of roe v. Wade. And, when he says well, we wanted to give it to the states, thats what everybody wanted, actually, its not what everybody wanted, it was what conservative constitutionalists wanted. But that is not that does not satisfy the majority of americans who feel that abortion should be legal in some cases, at least. So, what mrs.
