From washington tonight. It's great to have you with us. Another desperate move by desperate people. Judge chutkan unseems a motion. And the libs go absolutely nuts. It's more proof that the doj has been weaponized. Just as we saw during covid, the people called experts are often wrong. Cloth masks work, socialted, it's based in science. The vaccine. Transmission. Well, they couldn't have been more wrong. Then, after january 6th, they were confident that trump was finished. Do democrats have the votes to mark the end of donald trump's political career? that could mean the definitive end of his political career. Trial. Would be enough to end political career. Laura: now, in their assessment of j. D. Vance as his vp pick they were, again, spectacularly wrong. J. D. Vance here, donald trump's running mate, having some people wondering whether he should be replaced. J. D. Vance not going to move on. I don't know if the end. We'll see. Hard for donald trump to admitted making a mistake. A lot of republicans very unhappy right now. And the antipopulist republicans also embarrassed themselves anonymously telling the hill that vance's selection by trump was the worst choice of all the options. So bad i didn't even think it was possible, one congressman said. Another republican said nine out of 10 on our side would say trump's wrong on the j. D. Pick. My personal favorite from this june story was another congressman claiming that vance is the only person who could do serious damage to trump. But, they were even preemptively blaming vance if trump fell short in november. What else? well, who fell short last night? not this guy. I knew a lot of young women who had unplanned pregnancies and decided to terminate those pregnancies because they feel like they didn't have any other options. One of them is actually very dear to me. She told me something a couple years ago that she felt like if she hadn't had that abortion that it would have destroyed her life because she was in an abusive relationship. I want us, as a republican party, to be profamily in the fullest sense of the word. I want us to support fertility treatments. I want us to make it easier for moms to have babies. Laura: from beginning to end vance not only showed mastery of the issues but art to navigate the smug bias of those cbs not der raiders that was the most impressive thing of all last night. I think that one of j. D. 's best moments was his debunking the bidenharris claim that they're letting in migrants under just a normal legal process. Thank you, senator, we have so much to get to. Margaret, i think it's important. Turn now to the economy, thank you. March grerkts the rules were. The economy. Factcheck and since you are factchecking me, i think it's important to say what is actually going on. So there's an application called the cbp 1 app. Where can you go on as an illegal migrant, apply for asylum or apply for parole and be granted legal status at the wave of a kamala harris open border wand. Laura: 100 percent right. Then they mute the mic. Literally the only way cbs could save face was to cut his mic. It was pathetic. Now, maybe do this next time. Maybe listen and learn something then maybe you will finally understand trump's growing working class appeal. Try that on for size. But, again, i think that's expecting too much of these people who apparently don't have much contact with the real world. Because, outside the beltway corridor, vance has been connecting. And not just intellectually but on a human level. He is very battle tested. Very ready you could see that he went to jail yale and is he very intelligent. He reassured people, i think. Somebody else. Strong control of the facts. He ran the show. He remained steady during the whole performance, and i was very impressed with him being very sincere and authentic. He humanized himself and actually looked like a regular guy. Laura: now, if it were a fight last night, some boxing match, the ref would have called it for vance early on. But, perhaps, the most important take away from the v. P. Showdown is how trump's judgment in picking him in the first place was totally vindicated. Now, let's be clear, no one but trump would have picked vance who was most definitely not the choice of the senate leadership. Even though when pressed by a huffington post reporter at the dnc, mitch mcconnell did call vance a great choice is i don't say that too often but mitch mcconnell was right. It was a controversial decision at the time. But trump was trump was willing to take the slings and arrows in order to name vance as his number two because it was someone who actually believed in the america first agenda and trump understood that vance could persuasively advocate for it and defend trump's record before a hostile press. Honestly, tim, i think you have got a tough job here. You have to play whackamole and pretend joe biden didn't takehome pay. He did. Lower inflation which of course he did. Samesimultaneously goth got to defend kamala harris' atrocious record made grass gas, groceries and housing unaffordable for american citizens. Laura: he kept taking it back to the cost of living, which was perfect as we see multiple crises bubbling over about biden and harris in charge? it's become more obvious than ever that trump has been more right than everyone on the issues that matter okay the economy, on keeping inflation down. On keeping russia and china on their heels. Of course, on the border. And trump is better at identifying true political talent, managerial talent. He understands what's at stake for america, for everything. It's all on the line. And, unlike kamala's pick of tim walz, trump did not select vance because he wanted a yes man or he wanted a lackey. Trump picked walz because he wanted someone who could advance his agenda for economic growth and peace through strength. So, on tuesday night. You saw the future, set in motion. By a 78yearold donald trump. There's an entirely new generation of conservatives out there. And it's not just vance. Republicans have a strong talent pool. Governors like desantis, senators like rubio, hawley and schmitd. Congressman byron donalds to name a few. Of course others like vivek ramaswamy who joins me in moments. Tulsi gabbard, they are all out there. They are all important voices. But, this is what kamala harris thought captured their future. [. [cheers] laura: he didn't do the bowing thing last night. I was very disappointed. Well, somewhere tonight, i think josh shapiro, the governor of pennsylvania, is actually breathing a sigh of relief. Better to stand so low in 2028 than with her in 2024. But, in the end, no matter how much the media tries to block and tackle for kamala and tim and no matter how many bogus totally legal attacks launched against trump and his supporters, the republican future that trump shaped, is very bright. Trump's agenda for working class people that vance championed so effectively, it's attracted new voters, even in urban america. Yeah, and even in places like philly. One home health aid who just changed his party registration told the philadelphia inquirier that democrats keep saying trump is going to bring the economy down, but, he was already president for four years and taxes were lower. We're tired of the same politics. We got a different type of guy, and the people actually love him. He went on to say the democrats haven't kept their promises to bring down prices or improve the quality of life. I almost fell over when i saw that inquirier this morning. Well, i will say though for years, the media poisoned minds against trump. Remember, even vance was a strong critic. But, press matters less these days, and now with trump, vance is helping to lead the new republican coalition. People ask me like how would you describe this new coalition? i would say optimistic and pragmatic, patriotic, and peaceseeking. American families first, america first. And that's the angle. Joining us now, vivek ramaswamy, former republican presidential candidate, vivek, you are part of this new coalition. Aimportant voice for common sene conservatism. Your take on vance's performance last night and what it said not just about this ticket, but about the credibility of the media and all those establishment types who just raked vance across the coals for several weeks after he was picked. Look, i think j. D. Did out standingly. I wasn't surprised by that he is a good friend and i'm proud of him for his performance. I felt sad and sympathetic to tim walz. Not his fault he was put in that position. I bring that up because it says something about the machine on the other side. See, there were other good possibilities as you raised for somebody that could have been a decent vice president that at least could have held their own last night. They didn't pick that for the same reason that kamala harris was picked as the vice president. For the same reason she was picked as the no, ma'am to me. On their side, they would prefer somebody who doesn't have independent thoughts because we're not up against a candidate here, laura, it's not kamala harris, it's not joe biden, it's not tim walz, we're up against a machine. And where what donald trump is going in there to do to ghagets that machine. The more we see it that way, the more the rest of it actually makes sense. It's not about republicans vs. Democrats in the 2,000s or 1990s sense. This is about the everyday citizen, we the people saying no to the democratic and managerial class the dividing line in this country. I think jihad did outstanding job laying that bear. The more we see that clearly the more successful we are going to be. Laura: when you talk to regular folks which i'm blessed to be able to do on a daily basis, they often say, you know, everything is so negative. And i like the fact that vance talked about restoring the american dream. Obviously trump does that all the time. They don't let him get very far in doing that vance was able to state that over and over and over again. He said there is no reason why it should be dying. This is an amazing country. Let's get the job done. We will have fun doing it. I think that's the kind of optimism that's drawing in a lot of these new republican voters. And i think that much more than the lawfare and all this other nonsense, that is infectious. I think it is. Populism has been a word american politics associated with negativity. I see a wide open vacuum for what i would call a positive populism in america. Positive populism not just running from something but together as a people running back to something. Running back to that american dream where, yes, with hard work and dedication can you achieve the maximum of your god given potential and by the way this is a big theme right now, too. While speaking your mind freely at every step of the way. That, too, is part of the american dream. And that's what i want to see more of in this country. I think this is the future direction of the conservative movement. It's a populist. Positive populism that has alternative vision of our own. One we can do more of in our movement and taking that to a more positive direction is to stand unapologetically for capitalism. We don't have to apologize for that we can be the party that says you know what? we don't make people apologize for success but we're actually the party that stands for lifting everybody up. Black or white. Laura: working class. Built this multi ethnic coalition. Laura: when we had wages going up as they were under donald trump for the middle class, for the blue collar workers, that's what brought this economy back. That's why people were so optimistic before the pandemic hit. Vivek, is it true that you are thinking seriously about running was it for governor of ohio i was just reading? i think a lot of people are excited about that idea. I'm going to make some decisions shortly after the election. What i will say is we see some of the events when i visited springfield people in this state pleading with me to do it. I have to take that pretty seriously. There is a lot of possibilities for the future though, laura. What i want to do is have the biggest possible impact on the country possible. We're working within a short time to save this country. Donald trump is going to do his part from the top. But it's going to be up to us to each play our own roles and make decisions for me. Shortly after, hopefully not a close election but i still see the possibility of a landslide style election that unites this country. Let's achieve that in the next 35 days and we will count our eggs after that. Laura: all right, vivek, great to see you as always, my friend. Liberal media sycophants trying to do this reputation rehab on weirdo tim walz after the debate. That's next. ♪ laura: v. P. Faceoff went down as the angle predicted. But he won the debate because he actually had substance. He was relatable. The goal is to make tim walz your neighbor. Your midwest neighbor, a nice guy, it's mission accomplished and tim walz got exactly what he needed out of this. Laura: ha ha ha ha ha. Okay. Okay so now being practiced a debater is bad thing in liberal la la land. And then apparently we're aelecting a neighbor not a president. Joining me now charlie hurt. Washington times opinion editor and fox news contributor. They watched the same debate. They know what they saw. I don't think they are that disconnected from reality. But, why was this perhaps more important at this moment in this race than other previous vp debates? well, first of all, i have to challenge you a little bit, laura, i don't know that they did watch the same debate. I think they were watching the cartoon network or something because there's no way you could have watched that debate and said the things that they said afterwards. I would defy them to find one single question that tim walz answered. I went back and watched the entire thing a second time today. And i could not find a single question he actually answered. And, it is, i think i really do think that this is so was so important last night given the state of the race. I think a lot of people are just tuning in for a lot of people they don't know j. D. Vance or tim walz. They dialed in, they paid attention to this, and they saw these two people, one who is evasive, refused to answer questions, and when he did talk about something, he seemed to know something about, he was not able to make an argument. He couldn't even defend the policies of kamala harris. J. D. Vance on the other hand was prepared, he was on point. He was able to explain his positions, explain donald trump's positions. And defend them. And i think anybody who did dial in to meet these two, walked away realizing that you had j. D. Vance as a serious, thoughtful, engaging person and tim walz is just a is a way who is incapable of making the simplest argument. Laura: but he would be a good neighbor if you want your neighborhood to burn down. That comment. I guess. Laura: charlie, it's funny, because i got some calls after the debate from old law school friends who not particularly fond of president trump. But they are going to vote republican. But they are not huge trump fans. These people were so blown away by what they saw. I have never seen a debate like this since 1980, reagan. Went on and on and on. I think trump had some great performances against hillary and the last time around. But this was this was kind of a different animal. And i think it it made people sort of sit up and say wait, what have the media been telling us and we better start paying attention a little bit now. Yeah, so i have always maintained that a big reason why you and i have been able to sort of set aside donald trump's kind of unusual political manner is because we have been around the media. We have been around washington so long. We know how evil it is. How bad it is. And you're not going to fix it with mr. Sunshine nice guy. Vance had all of the has all the policies of donald trump, a wonderful prosecutor of the trump policies, but was able to do it in that manner that is sort of a little bit more normal for politics, and a little bit easier for those people to accept and it worked. And i think it will make so many of those people so much happier about pulling the lever for donald trump. Laura: those people are stupid. I'm sorry. I will say that the inflation we have experienced over the last few years has made it harder for companies and unions to come to agreement on new contracts. Remember, this was a sixyear contract that just expired. They are trying to negotiate a new sixyear contract. And what the union is saying is, man, we lost a lot of earning power in the last years of that contract with all the inflation we have been having and we need to catch up. And then we need make sure we are protected for the next six years. I do think that inflation has been factor here. It's been cited by the boeing workers. Remember you got more than 30,000 machinists out on strike. And i think it was a factor a year ago when you had the uaw on strike. It's definitely part of what is happening here. Laura: of course we've all been focused on the big vp debate this week but there was another extremely important debate on monday that we should all pay attention to. It's a battle between incumbent democrat john tester and republican tim for the montana senate seat. Right now in montana we are failing. We will have to stop it there. What he just said about community care was total horse. Noted. My fault the senate bill didn't pass on there wasn't even a senator. Apparently i've sold our public lands and closed her hospitals. Amazing how much influence i have. You run for office, your statements matter. In the statement is secure the border. Laura: this race could be the deciding factor on which party controls the senate. Latest polls have tim up by almost six points but monday's debate showed that this race will be heated until election day. Joining me now, montana senate candidate tim sheehy. Senator tester is trying to distance himself from the bidenharris administration. You see others drawing to do that, in ohio as well. But tester has voted with the administration, 91% of the time, so what does america need to know about the fake moderate democrats out there. The number is 100% of the time because every time the bidenharris agenda was on the chopping block and as the 51st vote, he could've stopped it all but never did. Every time from the inflation reduction act, jon tester voted for it. That's a fact. He tried to define himself in the debate on monday as a libertarian which was my favorite. I love when these guys who are running in red states as big government socialists run to the libertarian label to try to say that they are small government freedom loving politicians when what they really want to do is expand big government socialist policies to all of us. We noted the wide open border, the reckless spending, at a think we came out ahead. Laura: tell us what montana is facing with the migrant issue. We don't think of montana as a state that even has to deal with it. Could use a lot more population a lot of people believe but how do you find the migrant crisis actually affecting you there? as everybody knows now, every state is a border state. Although we have a northern border, which is also a problem, that's other border greatly affects us. Even nbc news, not exactly conservative border think tank policy, they did in article highlighting how the cartels are utilizing our injury and reservations as conduits for the drug trade. Interstates have been conduits for human trafficking which is doubled or tripled in recent years. The border crisis impacting montana. Fentanyl overdoses, violent crime, human trafficking. We have a fantastic governor and great attorney general but they can only do so much. The fourthlargest it with 1 million people, that's a lot of wide open space and unfortunately cartels have been able to exploit that and we've been feeling that in every community across the state from small towns to travel communities to biggest cities, the fentanyl and crime crisis are affecting us. Laura: but tester said he led on the bipartisan fend off fentanyl act i guess. He said he led on that so are you saying he's lying? 's payment well two faced tester is graded going to d. C. And voting like a big government socialist. Wanting to and the filibuster to supporting the inflation reduction act. Then he flies to montana, walks around like a border security gun toting biblethumping conservative so he's supported the bidenharris every step of the way and we are holding him to account because montana does not want four more years of these disastrous policies. Laura: who do you think would be your closest friend in this u. S. Senate? i know you've gotten to know some of the senators because i've heard from them but who would be your friend, the kind of person you are, who would it be? i've only gotten to know a few of them and obviously as a 38yearold father of four it's hard to make a lot of connections with some of these guys in their 70s let tom cotton and i have come close. Also has a young family. His wife like mine served overseas during the war so we struck up a good relationship and he's been another kindred younger guy. Laura: a good man. All right, you've just offended all the other people you don't want to be friends with. Just kidding. Good to see you tonight, thank you so much. That's it for us tonight, make sure to follow me on instagram, remember it's american now and forever, jesse is next. Jesse: welcome to jesse watters primetime. Tonigh
