The rain haS Picked up and wind gusting a category 4 storm that means wind speeds of 130 mileS Per hour that is strong enough to knock down a Wellbuilt House to tear off the roof and tear off exterior walls as well. Along with those winds, a surge in some places could be 15 to 2. Words being used by officials in Florida Unsuburb viable. Unsurvivable Storm Surge. We talk to people here stressed out many of them after two big storms in two years simply sound a little bit beaten down. Three in the last 13 months. Thats the price you pay to live on the coast. But, you know, after a while It Kind of. Enough. It kind of gets like, okay, you know, like you said, you know, enough is enough. The state taking multiple measures to try to keep people safe, mandatory airports shut down. Schools shut down. More than 30,000 Power Workers are ready to go when needed. Also the Coast Guard deployed along with high Water Rescue vehicles. One of the particularly challenging aspects of this storm the worst of it could come well after dark. Officials have warned floridians what they can expect to hear overnight. You will hear trees snapping. Pine trees snapping sound an awful lot like fireworks or potentially gunshots. So, please make sure if you hear that aggravate immediately get Interior Portion of your home away from glass. Most likely a bathroom and stay there until you hear that sound stop. Still a powerful storm that has a little bit of room to grow little stronger. Looking at category 3 strength it is on the high end of a category 3 Storm 2 still could reach category 4 levels but in general category 3s are devastating storms. Catastrophic once you get to cat 4. We are right there on that border wall. This is going to be a powerful Storm Impacting a lot of people. This there is the center of circulation. Closest it has been to the Florida Coast so far. Ultimately Track North and make landfall there along the florida panhandle. But it is a massive storm as well. So even if you are further away from that center of circulation. Youre going to be feeling it. We have seen plenty of these, that Little Red Box that, is a tornado that has spun up currently in South Carolina. Obviously very far away from the center of this storm. That is something that is going to continue here for the next several hours anyways as you are looking at a Tornado Watch in place acrosS Places of florida, georgia, getting into South Carolina where i was showing you they currently have one on the ground. There is the center of circulation. Orange is talking about Hurricane Gusts getting. The storm is so large that itS Pretty much covering the entire state of florida. Hard to avoid at least some sort of impacts from this system. The Hurricane Warnings are in place. Ultimately where the storm will make landfall. And then it will drag to the north. So from tallahassee, running all the way up to macon, they dont usually stay that strong that long. This one is going to partially because of how big and strong it is and partially how fast it is moving. Everything In The Red is a tropical storm warning. As you can see a lot of the southeast is going to be dealing with at least a tropical storm. Again, its such a quick mover, its such a powerful one why the time you get atlanta on friday morning, we are still talking about a very strong storm here, bret. They can be dealing with a tropical storm, atlanta a tropical storm. So a lot of folks are going to be dealing with this in their own way. Breaking tonight, new York City mayor Eric Adams is scheduled to be arraigned on federal corruption charges tomorrow. Adams says he has done nothing wrong. Has no plans to resign. But several democratic colleagues are calling him on him to step aside. Following a federal indictment. Others want Due Process to play out. Correspondent c. B. Cotton has details from New York tonight. [shouting resign] growing calls for new York City democratic mayor Eric Adams to step down. Prosecutors say adams abused hiS Power in a nearly decade long criminal scheme. Adams says he didnt do it. Follow the rules, i followed the law. But many laws were broken. According to the indictment, more than 50 pages long, with prosecutors laying out a history of corruption that they say started when adams was serving as Brooklyn Burrow president and continued through adams 2021 mayoral campaign. Prosecutors say adams took bribes, sought out illegal campaign contributions, and accepted free flights, dinners at high end restaurants and upgrades at luxury hotels from wealthy foreign nationals, including at least one turkish government official. This was a multiyear scheme to buy favor with a single new York City politician on the rise. Eric adams. But that turkish official wanted the bribes repaid, according to the indictment, telling an Adams Staffer that it was adams, quote turn to support turkey. The staffer responded, quote i know. Bret chairman kelly, what did you get from today . What do you take away from it . There are a lot of people hungry for answers. When jason and i first start on this tank, one of the things we looked at early on was the blaming of local Law Enforcement for not doing what they were supposed to do. I think today was a validation not only did they do what they were supposed to, they did everything they were supposed to do. But they werent informed of everything that was expected of them. And i think that was it was a great stain that waS Put on local Law Enforcement. They were deeply wounded that day because and it still exists to this day people live in my time that said you didnt do the right job and should have been there thats not the case. One Thing Jason and i looked at when we first had this ability to work on this Task Force. Lets make sure we get the truth to the american people. You dont have to get it out quickly. But you have to realize at the end of the time the work that you did is believable, truthful, and theres no question about it. Thats what were trying to do. I dont care where at the end of the day where the blame falls, i do know this local Law Enforcement today had their chance nationally to explain what they did and they can validate everything they did. They were a tremendous asset that day. Bret yeah. To your point, your colleague, Congresswoman Houlahan had this to say. I felt like that the witnesses were enormously forthcoming and cooperative and it was clear that there was a lot going wrong there with communications. We want to make sure that were being, very grave and serious about this and talking to people that actually know w that Day Ad these guys are were clearly those people. Bret congressman crow, is there going to be some Ta Da Moment here where people say oh, this is really what the deal is . Well, bret, i think what we see here, the story thats come together is that there was a series of cascading failures. I mean, any one of those failures alone could have been catastrophic. But there were a series of them in this case. You know, im a former army ranger. I served in iraq and afghanistan. What we learned in the military is you have to have unified command and control. You need to know who is in charge, who is making decisions, who people are reporting to. You have to have communications, units and elements need to be able to communicate with each other. In butler, none of those things appear to be true, which, you know, is just catastrophic to any type of operation like this. So, the very basics werent handled. But then other things like the lack of drone conch, the lack of good perimeter. A perimeter that was too small. Lack of guidance given to local Law Enforcement. So, a lot of questions remain but certainly a lot of things were pretty astonishing to me today. Bret u. S. Secret Service Chairman kelly said about the passage of the continuing resolution that the shortterm funding will better equip the u. S. Secret service to enhance Security Measures in the months ahead. We look forward to work with congress full Year Funding additional equipment. Our workforce needs to do their jobs. Were being told that former President Trump was having a rally, an outdoor rally in wisconsin this saturday and its been moved indoors because of a shortage of Secret Service personnel to be able to protect it. It seems like they have issues because they had their hands full at the u. N. This week. I dont think there is any question about they have their hands full and they dont have enough members of the Secret Service to do. So things they are tasked with doing. And you find out that depending on who is arriving where, how did we divide up the assets that we have. Now, i know when President Trump came to butler, the First Lady was also in pittsburgh. So all of a sudden the Secret Service is trying to cover two different personalities at two different times in different places. Look, we try to address that with providing more funding, i dont know i think jason probably feels the same way about this. The answer to everything isnt always more money. Sometimes we need the personnel in the right place at the right time and make sure whatever you deploy you are deploying it to the right place for the right reasons. Bret speaking of the First Lady, she waS Pretty vocal, congressman crow, about how she feels things are talked about. She was on an interview with Fox Friends this morning. We hear the leaders from the Opposition Party and mainstream media branding him as threat to democracy, calling him vile names. They only fueling toxic Atmosphere And Power to all these people that want to do harm to him. This needs to stop. Bret this is a common Ground Segment but what do you think of that. Whats very clear to me is that i condemn political violence from any direction of any sort. And so have all of my democratic friends and my colleagues from President Biden to Vice President harris to leader jeffries, we have all unequivocally condemned political violence. We are in a very sensitive time in our country. And words matter a loot. I mean, we see this happening in springfield, ohio right now. Where that community has come under assault because of a lot of Rhetoric And Narrative in their their direction. Everybody needs to take a step back here and just be very sensitive. Americans must understand and elected officials have to be very clear when were campaigning versus what is inappropriate language. We are in a Campaign Season Everybody is going to campaign and everybody is going to have rigorous, sometimes really tough difficult debate. Nobody should shy away from that because there is a lot at stake in this Campaign Cycle for both sides. So both sides are going to make their case, have tough debate, at the same time, we have to be able to condemn political violence wherever it comes. Bret mr. Chairman, i only have a few seconds here, last word, what do you hope comes out of all of this. I think that the nation understands we sol all of these political problems with ballots, not bullets, we are america. We are not a third world country. We understand going forward that everything we say could be taken one way or the other, be careful of what you say and whom you say it to. Because sometimes what we think may be casual conversation is not taken as casual by people who are hearing us. So i think with jason, he and i from the very beginning of this Task Force decided we are going to do what is right for america and it does not have a political bent for me nor him. Were republican and democrat but at the end of the day we are u. S. Legislators and we are going to provide the right answers for the american people. Breaking tonight, Hurricane Helene has been upgraded graded to a category 4 storm that is a massive hurricane. Florida residents are feeling the evenings already of the system. Its approaching the florida panhandle, has yet to make landfall, obviously. Airlines have canceled or delayed thousands of flights as the Storm Moves northward. Brandy campbell of Fox Weather is in tampa right now feeling the early effects. Good evening, brandy. Yeah, good evening, bret. So, right now were not going to be getting the immediate or direct impact from this hurricane as it is just about 130 miles offshore from the gulf. As you can see around me we are still feeling the brunt of it. Bayshore Boulevard Tampa off in the distance see already extensive flooding occurring here. Surrounding some of the homes closer to Bayshore Boulevard. Now, this area, again, expected to see the worst impact, of course right now but going into the later hours of tonight, we can feel Hurricane Force Wind gusts between 60 and 70 mileS Per hour. What is most notable about this area, bret, is the Storm Surge. Again, can you see the flooding already happening. We could get Storm Surge up to O Locals here, they know this area, Bayshore Boulevard normally floods and they have these high tides and such. But people are telling me this is much higher than they are used to seeing just for reference, again, we are about one street into the neighborhood. Im standing on the grass right now. So i have about a foot of water im standing. In the curb is right here. Thats maybe a foot and a half. So im not sure how deep it is in the road and then that just gets deeper once you go further to the bay which is really shoppy right now. Hugh, you look at polls every day, some people glaze over as we are getting closer and closer to election day. Everybody should look at likely voters now at thiS Point in the election because these seven states, thats really where the game is. You are right and those seven states to borrow the cliche. I watched Last Night the Vice President give her fifth consecutive dull uninspiring and substancefree interview. I think the ice is freezing over, bret. Began with dana bash, brian taft, the national association of black journalists, oprah and then Last Night only a million. 8 watched her live at 7 00 p. M. Im thinking to myself she is losing the opportunity to make the sale i just dont think that clip of Barack Obama reminded me when you have sparkle, you have got it. And she hasnt got it. Its also interesting to see in that same poll where people view her more of the Change Candidate. Also an Nbc Poll had her up 10 points Change Candidate above trump. Polling a snapshot in time it is showing some movement in Heller Favor there and she is closing the gap. I do think its interesting with Georgia And Arizona being actually flipped it just goes back to show how important pennsylvania is going to be in this election. Well, bret, i will give you holistic answer and the plan thats holistic i want to emphasize its holistic like the Vice President about in her interview. Im looking at two groups. Independents and hispanic voters, both of them moving toward trump in the arizona poll. Thats national as well. That means a very good Election Night for donald trump. On the economy, harris has closed that gap a little bit. I think in these final weeks of the campaign, trump needs to stress the economy in addition to the border and he reneeds to remind voters they were better off under trump instead of the four years of biden and harris. Bret hugh, here is the former president and the Vice President on ukraine today. One meeting with zelenskyy, one scheduled to. President zelenskyy has asked to meet with me. And i will be meeting with him. Its a shame what is happening in ukraine. One of the things that are very bothersome to me is the fact that europe iS Paying only a small fraction of the money that the united states of america iS Paying. There are some in my country who would, instead, Force Ukraine to give up large parts of sovereign territory. They are proposals for surrender, which is dangerous and unacceptable. Bret we had unique thing where the ukrainian president met with not only the president but the Vice President. A separate Press Conference for the Vice President. Obviously she is the democratic nominee. Could this issue be a big issue in the campaign, hugh . It should be because it matters in Pennsylvania And Ohio and maybe in Michigan And Ukraine and american population and generally among people who like strength. Zelenskyy made a bad mistake yesterday, bret, appearing at what was a nakedly political event gratitude. 2014, obama sent blinken, and trump came into office. He sent antitank missiles. Fend off second invasion under joe biden. I think he has a lot of explaining to do to the former president and hopefully gets it done. Because there are a lot of hawks in the republican party who would like to support zelenskyy but that stunt in Pennsylvania Today was a very bad move on hiS Part. Bret you know, meghan, there are you look at the headlines, politico facing g. O. P. Attacks, zelenskyy looks to sell White House on victory. The hill, zelenskyy Visits Washington as Election Year Divide grows over ukraine war. Cnn, republicans follow trumps lead on icing out zelenskyy. Is there some political calculus here by democrats to try to get a Nikki Haley Republican Voter by really, you know, talking and forcing the issue of ukraine and supporting ukraine against russia . Yeah, i think if you go back to the debate the former President Couldnt say he support Ukraine And Nato allies and defending that democracy. I think they should be playing that messaging over and over again. I dont think this is going to be an issue people vote on. They are going to be voting on the economy and immigration and abortion. I think thats where the campaigns need to be focused. But, you know, zelenskyy is here. So i understand important and zelenskyy is going to meet with Trump Tomorrow it. Will be interesting to see what comes out of that. Bret yeah. Matthew, to meghanS Point, immigration obviously still driving it, but the economy really is. Battleground states will put up the rcp average, its essentially, again, where it has been. We havent seen much movement. Its been essentially tied. She heads to arizona tomorrow. And going to head to barred stop. How will that go . You know, will hanging the lantern there on that issue, which iS Perceived as a vulnerability, somehow solve that issue . I dont think its a smart move, bret. I think it will only remind people that she waS Put in charge of resolving the Border Crisis at the outset of this administration and it only grew worse over time. Immigration is donald trumps signature issue. Thats not where Kamala Harris should be drawing a contrast if she hopes to win so i think this will be a good day for the president only contrasting himself with harris on the border and also meeting with zelenskyy and i hope coming away convinced that america needs to continue to help ukraine resist russian aggression.
