You know, The New York Times editorial, one of their editorial writers was on Morning Joe the other day talking about how you shouldnt compare them similarly and that the trump should get so much more scrutiny than Kamala Harris. Will theres got to be a political word within political teams, theres got to be a word of accusing a team of what rachel projection. Will well, i think i actually think this is a tricky debate for Donald Trump in a lot of ways, and i think, clearly, i think the strategy for Kamala Harris campaign is to have this be a feeling and Vibes Debate Meaning they would prefer this come out like, oh, Donald Trump was so mean to Kamala Harris, and thats why they wanted the mics open. There was an agreement that the mics would be muted when the other person is talking. What i think is tricky is Donald Trump has to the try to press her, try to expose her without offending the casual, noncommitted voters who can see him as abrasive. And thats hard with a woman. Bottom Line Truth is that is hard for anyone if who ever does public speaking. Dont interrupt women, its hard to be tough with women, you come off as the bad guy. I guess skeptical politicians in every way, when, for example, governor Josh Shapiro goes on The View and he says, hey, Donald Trump is actually good at this, i think hes setting the expectations bar. Rachel of course. Will and many people need to be or careful not to set the bar too low, because i think thats whats happening with shapiro when he raises the bar for trump. As for the debate, listen [laughter] as much as we want to to criticize Donald Trump, hes a liar, hes all these things, i think you said it before, people know Donald Trump. He is a skilled debater. He is a guy whos willing to Say Anything at anytime just to get through a question. And hes a showman. Hes been on tv before. So dont underestimate Donald Trump. Now, ive known Kamala Harris 20 years. She is tough as nails, shes a prosecutor, shell be preparedded as was said before. Be ready to go. But this is the going to be a tough debate. Rachel you know, i think one of the tricks shes going to try is to really talk about her or strong what she perceives as her strong suit. Shes going to want to talk about abortion. And i think its going to be the really important for Donald Trump, if i was advising him, to say, hey, that issue is now up for the states, lets talk about the issues about the economy. Lets talk about the american peel. People who have been hurt by your biden policies, your bidenharris policies on the economy. I think thats going to be the another tactic shes going to use. Charlie right. Well, Donald Trump will Say Anything that he believes, and thats whats made him such a great candidate. He will say whatever it is that he believes, and hes been saying the same thing over and over again. So Josh Shapiro can try and use that against him, but i think its trumps greatest gift. The problem is that josh. Shapiros candidate, Kamala Harris, will Say Anything she has to say regardless of whether its remotely true or not in order to win over a voter, and i do think that as stilted as everything is against trump, i do think that that breaks through even this kind of level of propaganda. Will one of the issues you would anticipate would come un, lets hope, is illegal immigration. And one of the things that should be pressed when it comes to Kamala Harris is what have your Border Policies created. We know in aurora, colorado, a Venezuelan Gang, Tren De Aragua, has taken over apartment complexes. Theyre collecting money from the people that live there. A congressional candidate in colorado had this to say about whats happening with this Venezuelan Gang. We are pushing back. The aurora city council, Aurora Councilwoman has been on the forefront of this pushing constantly. And, look, the leaders of this community, the Police Department needs to do something. Theres a definite problem. We know that there is. We know that tda is committing assaults, extortion, strong Arm And Child prostitution. Something needs to be done. They need to get in the community, and they need to make some arrests. We really have no idea whos in this country right now as many unvetted young men, and this is a symptom of the problem that were seeing. Were seeing these crimes start to be on the uprise and, look, poem have to connect this to the bidenharris people have to connect this to the bidenharris administration. The last three and a half years has been pure chaos at the border. Again, these men who were arrested, two of them, these Tren De Aragua Gang Members, they were apprehended in eagle pass, they were let go. If they were told given papers that you should come back, Gang Members, just make sure you come back for your court date. They werent evented, they didnt, obviously, come back to the their court date. They went to aurora, colorado, and theyre doing this. And, i mean, this is unbelievable because this state has literally rolled out the red carpet. Will i think everyone has acknowledged most objective, rational people have acknowledged the weakness of the initial conviction of Donald Trump, and then that was confirmed somewhat with the Supreme Court saying he has president ial immunity on so many as aspects that would have ended up undermining the new york conviction. But do you think judge merchan, professor if who i think has been fairly obstinate in not worrying about the law and pursuing what looks like a political case do you think he was impacted by the political fallout should he have sentenced Donald Trump . Oh, i think so. He might actually have been sort of sub consciously or or to consciously aware that if he hit trump with a jail sentence, he very well could have reelected him. I mean, every time the public saw what was happening in manhattan, trump went up in the polls. And and i think merchan knew that that he could very well have have proved the catalyst to reelect the president. This president has been fairly hostile towards President Trump many all of his rulings, i was in that. Courtroom, and i was shocked by many of his rulings which, in my view, were manifestly wrong. And also this sudden epiphany that were in an election seems rather belated or, you know . This is the same judge that refused to curtail his, in my view, unconstitutional gag order, kept the president in that courtroom during the campaign and never indicated any concern over the fact that the this was in the middle of a campaign. Will right. Yeah, by process of elimination, professor, thats why i keep coming back to this, he didnt care about true precedent or legal justification, he didnt care about the impact on an election when he thought the it might help to the point of the gag order. The only thing thats changed now is i think he cared that the it might help Donald Trump, actually, if if he had sentenced him. [laughter] another political case, well, another case that touches on politics is Hunter Biden. And so now Hunter Biden has pled guiltying to filing false tax returns, two counts. Now, Joe Biden Concern is asked recently, by The Way, Karine Jeanpierre doubled down, tripled down that there will be no pardon for Hunter Biden. Do you believe that . That is still a real chance. By setting the calendar as it has been, this puts the Decision Right in the Sweet Spot for the Hunter Biden team where they would want this decision to be made. After the election with weeks before the inauguration. Thats when weve seen the greatest abuse of the Pardon Power occur. Thats when Bill Clinton waited until the very last day to pardon his brother which was just a manifestly improper act in the use of his authority, but it was a legal act. Also a, if the judge hands down a particularly harsh sentence, its going to increase the pressure on Joe Biden to reverse his promise.
