look at this guy now. come here. >> good morning, mike, president biden kept a low profile over the weekend. that low profile expected to continue this week. it has been quiet at the white house. the president and first lady have not been here over the past several days. that cadence expected to continue over the next few days as the president is at camp david in the maryland mountains with aides. he is expected to leave from camp david to go directly to the cnn debate on thursday at 9:00 p.m. eastern time. simulcast on fox news. on friday the president will hold a rally in north carolina with reporters. trump was in philadelphia at temple university with thousands of people. hitting the campaign trail hard. holding rallies and he is preparing for the debate. mike and gillian today marks two years exactly since the supreme court struck down roe v. wade and the administration plans to tout that heavily putting blame directly on donald trump. hoping even two years later that crucial decision will resonate with voters as people prepare to vote in the coming months. president biden out with a new ad this morning, watch. >> president biden: donald trump says freedom. after 50 years of failure with nobody coming close, i was able to kill roe v. wade. >> meanwhile the white house facing some tough questions about the promotion of a new press aide. someone named tyler cherry handling the president's climate change agenda. according to colleagues at fox digital he once tweeted police are the direct evolution of slave patrols and lynch mobs and made other questionable posts. he wrote yesterday past social media posts when i was younger do not reflect my current views period. i support this administration's agenda and will continue my communications work focused on climate and environmental policies. a white house spokesman said we're proud to have tyler on the team. back to you, mike. >> mike: thanks. >> gillian: katie pavlich is a fox news contributor and hans is -- so different styles this week, right as we said. biden is hunkering down presumably focusing on this debate monday, tuesday, wednesday, over the weekend. he is not out there. it is not like nobody from the campaign is. i read earlier today in "politico" there are 200 events in the state of georgia this week leading up to the debates but we won't hear from the president himself. do you think it is a missed opportunity? >> the president has not been available for questioning or just in terms of access for his presidency. normal behavior. also how he ran his previous campaign while president trump was on the campaign trail. this is not different. what i look for this week is how they are preparing to talk to certain audiences. joe biden has a big problem now keeping his base and coalition together. his campaign chair is out there doing media interviews and they can't explain why they are losing hispanic voters. what will president biden say to the people he needs to keep in the party. also to nervous democrats looking at thursday and going we hope he does a good job ahead of the convention in a month and a half for the democrats in august. trump's base is locked up and speaking to everybody, obviously but also to those independent undecided voters, which there are very few. true for biden as well. different styles. typical of both of them what they've done in the past. but we'll see how the debate goes thursday. both of them will be reined in when it comes to the rules of the microphones being turned off and seated nature of the debate. >> mike: former president trump asked how he should treat president biden? >> how should i handle him? should i be tough and nasty or should i be -- should i be tough and nasty and just say you are the worst president in history, or should i be nice and calm and let him speak? >> mike: how important is mr. trump's tone during the debate. >> i suspect one of the three or four things we'll talk about after the debate and leading up to the debate. the debate is 80 hours away. i'm glad we're doing this segment now, not in 48 hours. 48 hours inclear to me the story will change at all. we've been in this position trump is campaigning and test driving lines. look what trump is doing. do you think he likes performing? i think we all know the answer to that. he will look at this as a performance. the president's team knows it is a performance for him as well. i think the crucial thing they are looking at is making biden appear like a fighter. they want to kind of convey he is fighting not donald trump but fighting for the american people. i agree that all the come partm compart compartmentalizeed, joe biden needs to show up and is a fighter and go toe-to-toe with donald trump. 80 hours, one more number better than i am. >> biden is on defense. losing in all these swing state poll. new polling showing he may be closing the gap but he is going into this down. he has to prove he is able to punch above his weight and get back in terms of competing with trump in a lot of these places that democrats should be winning, including minnesota. >> gillian: want to hear from each of you if you had to bet money on it today who trump's v.p. pick? >> you know, if you are a realtor and you rely on home transactions to make a living, it is not a good story. if you are a seller it is a great story because near record prices. unfortunately if you are a buyer there is very little inventory to buy. some of the inventory that's out there is very sail. we see bidding wars. it's tough sledding for new home buyers. >> mike: larry kudlow's take on the housing crisis. >> existing home sales for may came in just over 4 million units, the lowest level in 30 years. during the trump years, by the way, home sales were running around 6 million. meanwhile, average home prices came in at $419,300, the average. that's a record high going all the way back to recorded data, which began in 1999. >> mike: it's getting more unaffordable to buy and rent ising up significantly as well. what are folks to do? >> a very horrible story here going onto the crime happening in philadelphia. the 31-year-old police officer was shot in the neck. he is at the hospital in philly on life support we're told trying to get more updates on his condition. this comes as we know he is a husband and a father who didn't come home from his shift. >> it is not lost on me that on today a husband, a father, and the son met his partner and went to work. he didn't expect that he would be in a fight for his life. >> police arrested and charged ramone rodriguez vazquez after investigators say he shot and critically wounded the officer. the officer not yet i deigned fight. he allegedly opened fire after a traffic stop on saturday in the kensington neighborhood. investigators say the officers walked up to the car and spotted a gun holster inside when vasquez fired his gun three times running away from the scene hitting the officer. he used the same gun to force his way into a nearby house hiding out until later arrested. the 36-year-old facing a lot of charges here including attempted murder, burglary and aggravated assault. and law enforcement in detroit grieving the loss of a sheriffs deputy shot and killed following a stolen car. oakland county sheriff's deputy leaves behind his three kids and pregnant wife. the sheriff says three suspects are in custody and called this attack an ambush. >> focus on this for us at this point obviously in addition to getting justice from the criminal justice system is how we support a family that -- and agency that has been crushed. >> just a short drive away from where this was all happening with this officer shot in philadelphia, former president trump was in town talking at temple university hitting on crime, supporting law enforcement and saying there needs to be big changes to the d.a. here. >> gillian: thank you. >> the biden administration is allowing criminals into our country purpose le. other countries are emptying their prison. the countries are getting rid of the worst of the worst and have a dramatic effect for years to come as these people are spread around the country. we'll see more people dying and random crime and goes back to joe biden allowing the people in. >> mike: anger and frustration after biden's border policies after a 12-year-old was strangled to death in houston last week. two illegal immigrants from venezuela accused with her murder. one is due in court next hour. michael mccaul serves on the homeland security committee. part of your district is houston. this hits close to home. >> very. the houston d.a.'s office is one of the finest. i believe this could be capital murder charge. they're good at this. but the point here is we're seeing this too often now. i think you will see this story repeat itself over and over and over again. a little 12-year-old girl who was raped and thrown off a bridge and killed just horrific. when you have 7.2 million that were caught and released and you have 2 million gotaways, this is what you will get. when secretary mayorkas changed the rules saying you don't have to detain aggravated felons as required under federal law, that is when all this started. you are seeing aggravated felons coming into the united states and being released into society. >> gillian: over the last few weeks, president biden has implemented a series of measures via executive action to try to tamp down some of these issues making it harder for folks from certain countries to claim asylum. is any of it having an impact you are seeing? >> obviously are not. so many are in the country now. these are little band-aid measures. we have a criminal enterprise operating in the united states right now. drug trafficking and murder and rapes and you'll see more of this. until he gets back to the poll sows that were working that lindsey graham talked about on "fox news sunday." remain in mexico. i passed it out of my committee. if we did that one thing that they had to remain in mexico pending the adjudication of their political asylum it would change everything. but they refuse to do it. >> mike: democrats blaming republicans. >> the border is in trouble and has been for the past 20 or 30 years. joe biden on day one, on day one sent a comprehensive immigration reform proposal to congress and they did nothing with it. four months ago after congress doing nothing the president met with the most conservative republicans in the country. they asked for everything in the border bill. the president gave them to them. because donald trump called and told them not to do it the border bill is still waiting. >> mike: how do you respond? >> i'm chair of the homeland security committee for six years and a federal prosecutor. immigration reform is not border security. that's what they are trying to conflate. it is not the same thing. you need to secure the border, then talk about immigration reform. not the same issue. to say that the border that republican's fault when on day one he talked about this president rescinded all the policies that were working. you will have former chair of the ice on here tom, a good friend of mine. look, remain in mexico, all the things that were working he rescinded on day one. that had a direct cause and effect on what is happening down there. don't take my word for it. the border patrol themselves tell me that all the time. >> gillian: former president trump is proposing -- he hasn't laid out the details yet but proposing mass scale deportations as a solution to the current iteration of the crisis. if there are something like 20 million people in the united states illegally, is this proposal -- i don't know, can you get behind that? it is feasible in any way or just a sort of aspirational pie in the sky idea for him? >> my recommendation as someone who has done it for a long time is prioritize your deportations. i would start with the aggravated felons. unfortunately this administration policies alejandro mayorkas said even though the law requires you to detain aggravated felons, you will tell you you can release them if you want to essentially. these are the people that have come in illegally that i think we have to prioritize to get them out of the country causing the crimes you are hearing about. >> mike: thank you for coming in. great to see you. >> gillian: thank you. there is this. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu says the current phase of the war in gaza is winding down and israel could soon shift its focus to fighting hezbollah in lebanon. the latest on that from trey yengst in tel aviv. >> all eyes are on israel's northern front as the country braces for the possibility of a broader war with hezbollah. israel launched new air strikes against the group this weekend targeting a number of positions across southern lebanon. hezbollah launched drones, rockets and anti-tank missiles into israel. it comes as israel's prime minister netanyahu announced plans to wrap up the current phase of fighting in gaza. >> after the intense phase is finished, we can move part of the forces north and we'll do this. first and foremost for defensive purposes and secondly to bring evacuated residents home. >> 262 days into the war israel is battling hamas on the ground and continuing large air strikes against targets across the strip. over the weekend dozens of people were killed in a refugee camp amid new israeli bombardment. israel continues to face criticism for the rising death toll and the military is answering after a shocking video said a palestinian van strapped to a moving army jeep. expanding tension across the middle east and right now no diplomatic solutions rising to the surface. >> gillian: trey yengst in tel aviv, thank you. [shouting] >> mike: more violence in los angeles after a group of anti-israel agitators blocked the entrance to a synagogue sending fists flying and the riot police response. jonathan hunt is live in los angeles with the latest. hello, jonathan. >> good morning, mike. they were extraordinary scenes, battles being fought between pro-palestinian protestors who targeted a synagogue and members of that synagogue and of the jewish community that surrounds it. this all taking place in the heart of los angeles in the middle of one of the city's largest jewish communities, 100 pro-palestinian protestors descended on the area sunday morning and almost immediately violence broke out as those protestors tried to block the entrance to a synagogue. jewish counter protestors tried to push them back and for some time violent fights broke out between the two sides. >> when they are screaming globalize the intifada they are screaming kill jews for being jews. not going to let that happen. >>ryiot police were there. tensions remained high for several hours. at one point at least eight officers with weapons drawn ordered two pro-palestinian protestors from their car concerned the vehicle itself could be used as a weapon. los angeles mayor bass condemned the protestors saying, quote, today's violence in the neighborhood was abhor ant. i want to be clear that los angeles will not be a harbor for anti-semitism and violence. those responsible for either will be found and held accountable. mike, i spoke to rabbi of the nearby synagogue. as violence was playing out yesterday he found it reminiscent of the nazi youth on the streets of germany in the 1930s and he said who would ever have thought we would see this on the streets of american cities. mike. >> mike: disturbing visuals. thank you very much, jonathan. >> gillian: let's bring in fox news contributor marc thiessen. marc, anti-semitic violence, attacks like this one may not make headline news every day but they are happening across america, across europe, certainly reaching to all corners of the globe. we may have heard over the weekend synagogue goers were murdered in broad daylight in russia. i don't know, i'm out of questions on this topic, to be frank. it doesn't seem to abate but getting worse systemically since october 7th. >> you are 100% right. this is being presented by many in the media as a clash of protestors. a pro-hamas mob targeted a synagogue. they didn't protest in front of the israeli embassy. we keep hearing they are not anti-jew, they are anti-israel. they didn't choose the consulate in los angeles. they chose a synagogue and didn't just protest. they shouted anti-semitic chants and beat jewish protestors. imagine if this had been done to a black church in los angeles. if a bunch of white supremacists surrounded a black church and started attacking churchgoers and beating them and using pepper spray. you think it wouldn't be front page news in every newspaper in america and the president of the united states would have issued a statement by now? but because it happens to jews, it is okay. we just let it go by, another bad day for the jews in america. >> gillian: i want to ask you about this, too. new york congressman bowman over the weekend, i don't know, spoke out, yelled out against israel, the biden administration's israel policies and ranted araved against apec. >> we are going to show [bleep]. we are not going to stand silent while u.s. tax dollars kills babies and women and children. my opponent supports genocide. cease-fire now, cease-fire now, cease-fire now. >> gillian: there are plenty of jews in washington in his district in new york who are critical of apec. this is something else. i don't know what this is. >> well also, can you imagine if a sitting congressman said stood up on a rally and said we are going to show the [bleep] naacp the power of this district. do you know -- the democratic party has not policed its movement and allowed anti-semitism to fester in the halls of congress. it is jamal bowman, the rest of the squad. if somebody had done what he did and targeted black people, they would be kicked off their committees and shunned by the democratic caucus. when representative steve king back in 2019 said i don't understand what's the problem with white supremacy he was kicked off all committees. why haven't the democratic leadership in congress done the same to bowman for this and ilhan omar and the rest of the squad?
