Antiisrael rallies continuing to plague if College Campuses across the country. That includes protesters at the university of Southern California refusing to leave their encampments overnight. Propalestinian protesters interrupted the proceedings saturday. You could hear some people in the crowd booing them here. Not the case though at the University Of Virginia just two hours from here. 25 people were arrested over the weekend after the universitys president , jim ryan, said the protesters didnt follow policies. The demonstration was peaceful when it began on tuesday, but ryan says things took a turn friday when the protesters made a public call for others to join. Sate and local police had to step in after some demonstrate theres got physical and refused to leave. Watch here. [background sounds] reporter and in chicago 68 people were arrested on the grounds of the art institute. They were charged with criminal trespass to property. Police say they too refused to comply with requests to leave and move if to another location. Now it appears the site is clear. [inaudible conversations] all of this could create a snag for the Democratic National convention this summer. Thats because some propalestinian protesters wan to hold demonstrations outside of the event. A group of organizations are suing the city of chicago alleging their First Amendment rights are being violated. They say the city working with the Democratic National committee is exercising its authority to deny these organizations respective applications for Parade Permits within sight or sound of the convention. They argue the citys offer for an alternative parade if route 4 miles from the event is an attempt to protect President Biden from their message. If will, rachel and pete. Wanted to clarify, the protesters were not removed prosecute event, and they from the if event, and they remained for the entire duration causing a massive disruption are. It was not brief. I was seated about five rows in front of them for the vast majority of the Commencement Ceremony. They began disrupting when the secretary of the navy decided to speak p i got up on stage and then a Banner Overhead flew that said free palestine, divest from if israel. These protesters, about 100 in number, decided that they wanted to interrupt the Commencement Ceremony for 8,000 graduates and their families. Aye been a lifelong michigan fan, a supporter of the university for my entire four years and already its my dream school. And if to have this happen to me in the most important day of my four years is really troubling, and im just really speechless with what happened. Will wisconsin vinnie, im will vinnie, you look familiar. Were you also part of a viral video this week where you confronted a propalestinian protester at the University Of Michigan . I was. Theres been a large Encamp Canment on our campus for who weeks, and the University Administration as done nothing to remove it. Theyve had ban ors displayed that say long live the Intifada Calling for a violent genocide against white people. They want it systematically eliminated and, frankly, im not willing to stand for that on my campus. So i took it upon myself to remove tease genocidal posters that are do displaided against School Policy on university buildings. I are are removed one of these, and an agitator decided to confront me. Dont think it went terribly well for her considering how viral the videos gone, but i think it shows these people just hate america, they want to destroy our values and they dont believe in the free speech of everyone. Pete yeah or, benny, i think these kind of protests disrupting the graduation have a counterimpact. Rachel i do too. Pete youre ruining it. This is why we cant have mice if things. Go protest somewhere else. So the university low allowed them to stay the entire graduation . Were Hay Making Noise the whole im . That would be disruptive throughout. Absolutely. The University Made it clear at the beginning several weeks before the commencement started that no flags, no ban ors would be Permittedded Inside Stadium for this exact reason, yet a hundred of these individuals got up with their a palestinian flags, antiisrael banners and gathered in a large group and started chanting from the river to the sea, palestine will be free, long live intifada, calling for these violent uprisings against the jewish people. And yet the university did not enforce their protocol. I spoke to University Officials at the event, i spoke to police, and they condition confirmed they were violating these rules, yet they did not take the action that was necessary to remove them. The only way that i was able to listen to have the remaining half of the commencement was by having an usher move me and my friends, but that didnt help the other people seated around the protesters, and i just dont understand why the university and president isnt taking the action necessary to remove these antiamerican, antiisrael individuals from the commencement and the broader university. Rachel you know, benny, i mow it was a big day for you. It was also a big day for your parents. Were they there z well . They were. Rachel as you guys process what happened yesterday, by the way, im a parent who went to the the a graduationer is ceremony like this at a big university, and i would just be so angry as a parent. I paid, i paid for that event. I paid to be there after a so many years of paying and supporting my daughter. I would be furious. Tell me what your parents reaction is and also if they have any regrets. I mean, i attended a summer at the University Of Michigan. Its famously liberal. And so are there any regrets that they have about really in some way whether they acknowledged it when they did it or not, were all supporting, youre supporting with your financial collars an institution that did exactly what you described, did nothing. In fact, enabled people who have no respect for just being civil. Yeah. Its true. My familys been supporters of the University Of Michigan for my entire life. My parents end went to the University Of Michigan, my grandparents went to the University Of Michigan. This was our our fear for months, that this was going to happen, and yet it happened and nobody did anything about it. So i think were questioning our support for the university moving forward. Mexican authorities reportedly saying an american surfer and two australian friends who went missing last weekend may have been murdered in a a vicious carjacking. The woman was said to be in possession of one of the missing mens dr peppers, and this comes nearly cell phones, and this comes after the three men vanished during a is surfing vacation near the port city e of ensenada. Local prosecutors say the men were murdered during a violent robbery telling australias 7 moods, when they tried to get the victim, opposed the robbery and, apparently, the the victims were shot. On friday investigators discovered three bodies dumped in a 50foot deep well while searching near that site.
