facing off again in iowa. former president donald trump said to take the stage in cedar rapids as he continues to hold commanding lead in state polls. 100 miles west in newton, iowa, ron desantis completes his to work of all 99 state counties open to close the gap. with six weeks until the first in the nation iowa caucuses, it's going down. welcome to a brand-new hour of fox news live, i am arthel neville. >> a lot going on, i am bill melugin, and for, he's going to take the hawkeye state, he got the endorsement of i will cover kim level may not be his biggest challenge right now. desantis is trying to fend off former un ambassador nikki haley starting to gain steam in early voting states. >> for now the former president appeare republican party's topic dominating the national polls. we have live coverage from the rallies when they get underway? first go to alexis mcadams following the campaign in newton, iowa. >> a busy day for candidates on the ground in iowa including ron desantis about to take the stage behind me in a few minutes to talk about what he says is a huge accomplishment ending all 99 counties in the state. he spent a lot of time in the hawkeye state says he's talked one-on-one with people and made important connections he says will put him on top and iowa. >> you hit 99 counties here in the state, how do you feel? >> is a lot of good work but it's important, you shall people you expect to have to earn their vote, not entitled to vote and you get to talk to people from all walks of life. we hear about things through the filter of media, social media, this is talking to real people every day and you get good feedback and questions and they have good suggestions so that something valuable and it reminds us you are a servant, not a ruler in this country and going to these places shows that i believe in that servant model, is important in this day and a age. >> even with all the time he spent in iowa, trump is ahead in the polls. according to a poll by the des moines register, 43% of likely republican caucus door say they picked trump the president. the former ambassador to the un nikki haley, tied for second sitting at 16%. another live look, desantis will stand side-by-side with iva, kim reynolds, supra popular she will be on the stage after she endorsed him and iowa evangelical leader bob, a kingmaker in the state will be after super pop money flooded the race. earlier this week nikki haley received the endorsement from the network called americans for prosperity. there are still some things happen, i will step back and will keep here on the ground but governor desantis says he believes he's been performing very well talking about the debate, he said he's had a lot of people talking to him how he did a great job, thinks he's doing well in iowa and we will see what happens, it's six weeks out. >> ninety-nine counties in iowa makes me think of 99 bottles of beer on the wall. if you don't know the reference, i'll tell you when you are back in new york. you know it? >> i don't know, i think i do but maybe i don't. [laughter] >> you don't need to know, alexis mcadams, thank you. >> i want to know what that's about. [laughter] >> former president trump outpacing host contenders from other hopefuls starting to run out of time to catch up. ron desantis and nikki haley training from trump in the multiples by a wide margin making it urgent for both to get report if they want a shot at becoming the 2024 nominee. washington examiner selena joins me now. >> i know what the 99 bottles of beer on the wall means. >> i think i know but we will leave that for another time. for these non- trump candidates, a little over 40 days from the iowa caucuses. do they still have runway toolpusher or do you think voters minds are essentially made up by now? >> absolutely they have plenty of time to catch up and you look at the numbers and trump's numbers and you say how can that be? it happens every time. iowa, new hampshire and south carolina, those voters tend to expect you to show up not just in the county but their living room and expect you to earn their vote and talk about real issues, not issues that are across twitter social media but issues impacting their lives. in particular, the economy, if inflation and the border crisis and national security so i think there's a lot of room for people to grow. i think nikki haley will benefit from the afp, an amazing grassroots network but i think desantis is doing the right thing, reminds me of mike huckabee 2008 when -- and rick in 2012 where these guys were on the ground working, they underscored the voters and want despite no one seen them coming at the time so i think there is plenty of time and room for things to change. >> let's talk about desantis, he's made himself a contest between him and other republican candidates essentially saying republicans have been losing elections since 2016 when donald trump won. 2018, 2020, 2022, he says he's a winner in florida and keeps heading back home. >> we had the biggest republican victory we've ever had in the state of florida and the governor's race but that's because we lead and delivered big results that didn't happen in the rest of the country so winning is what we need to be doing. i am tired of losing, i want to put points on the board. [applause] >> he turned florida pretty red in the process and coming off a debate night with governor gavin newsom the other night by most accounts, conservatives feel he did well. do think the debate will move him up in the polls in the coming days and weeks? >> i'm interested to see what happens, he came across very well. he was able to come back solid policy answers but also fun equipped and jabbed at newsom so voters are looking for that. conservative or republican voters are looking for someone who can govern, who can win but also someone not afraid to give it back when conservatives get attacked and i think desantis embraces those qualities and voters have not solidly decided and i think that debate probably helps them, i'm interested to see the polling numbers. >> let's talk about donald trump because he's been searching recently. if we could pull up this recent polling of his biggest gains over joe biden recently. i think this is wrong but this is donald trump sizable lead over nikki haley and ron desantis but donald trump has been surging in the polls and keep battleground states, picking up steam with independence, hispanic voters, people he would need, a coalition he would have to build if he wants to win in 2024 if he ends up being the nominee, what do the numbers say to you? >> the conservative populist coalition is not only intact from 2016 even though they suffered losses in 2018 and 2020 and 2022, the coalition is intact and growing. people talk about working-class a lot but there's hispanic working class and black working-class who share a lot of the same cultural values as a white working class and that's where trump and conservatives, republicans have been gaining voters. the problem for biden in the polling is he's shutting young voters and they are not interested. it doesn't mean he will vote republican, probably just won't vote at all or third-party but they are unhappy because they are further left than the rest of the coalition. his coalition is frank and that's his challenge. >> thank you for your time today, appreciate your insight. >> thanks, bill. >> we law live coverage once they get underway, stay tuned for that. >> israel bombarding seven because after seven days misfire ended yesterday. israeli strikes today reportedly hitting houses and destroying three mosques. idf ordering neighborhoods in gaza to evacuate ahead of further strikes. meanwhile israel and hezbollah continue to exchange fire across the lebanon border and that's where we find nate foy standing by with the latest. >> in the past hour, hamas terrorists fired ten rockets out of gaza to southern and central israel including tel aviv where israel's iron dome intercepted six of the middle and they landed in areas like open areas where nobody was injured. this will shortly after a rally in tel aviv for hostages who have come home and 130 hostages remain in hamas captivity but what you are watching right now is what we see on the northern front of the war, hezbollah and israel exchanging fire. this is a precision strike taking out hezbollah infrastructure, second straight day we seen this and we are seeing artillery. hezbollah claims 11th largest into israel over the past two days, israel response by targeting the positions where the attacks come from. lebanese media reports israeli shells killed three people but you mentioned it, the focus of today's military operations is in gaza. the idf took out a senior hamas commander who helped plan october 7 attacks with this strike you see in gaza city. the southern city hit hard today as idf soldiers are going door-to-door in the northern gaza strip fighting hamas terrorists and close combat. israel found hamas weapons hidden in northern gaza including rockets, missiles, grenades and benjamin netanyahu reiterated israel will not stop until hamas is eradicated. >> how do you argue for murder, rape and dismembered women, children and babies, human life has no value? >> israel pulled out of talks and qatar to negotiate another cause in the fighting so with just seeing this recent rocket attack out of gaza into southern central israel is an indication the war continues. >> nate foy, thank you. >> president biden spending the weekend at the white house while keeping a close eye on the idf forces and renewed bombardment and gaza. lucas tomlinson joining us with the latest. we know what the president is up to? [laughter] when i am reelected, i will cancel executive order and banned the use of ai to censor speech of american citizens on day one. [cheering and applauding] all of these biden attacks and democracy and freedom are happening because the radical left democrats know that in a fair fight they are going to lose in a landslide. all of the things they do, who would vote for these policies, open borders, mental institutions pouring into our country under the trump administration mark we built the greatest economy in the history of the world, never an economy like we have. we are having soaring and comes from a household net worth hitting the highest level ever recorded by far greater than now and greater than any other time. when i was your president, author 30 year mortgage rate reached an all-time low of 2. 2.65%. doesn't that sound good? [cheering and applauding] doesn't that sound good? you can't get them money no matter what you want to pay now and you can't buy a house. inflation was basically zero and we had gasoline down to a dollar 87 cents a gallon. the american dream is alive and well like never before in our country, people were thrilled, they want to get jobs, best jobs in the market, nobody has ever seen an economy like we had but thanks to crooked joe biden and his goons that surround him, today the american dream is dead, a dead dream. in the past three years -- thank you very much. love you, too, actually. [cheering and applauding] in the past three years, biden and radical left cracks and $12 trillion wasting colossal amount of your money on socialist scams that cause cumulative inflation over 20%, think of that. as a result, average 30 year mortgage rate is 7.8% but you can't get it so it doesn't matter. the typical family lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in purchasing power when buying a home and thanks to biden's insane green new deal, families can't afford to buy a car, you can't afford to buy a car, who would like to buy a car? you might get one electric one, very expensive but they can't sell them. people want to be able to drive about 45 minutes but while biden crossed the american dream, we will revive the american dream and bring it back bigger, better, stronger than ever before and we are going to bring it back fast. [cheering and applauding] it will happen very quickly. we are going to drill, drill, baby, drill. we are going to seal up the borders so tight and have the largest deportation very back. ever in our country's history, i will quickly and joe biden's inflation, we built the greatest economy on record and i will not rest until your family can afford a beautiful home and brand-new beautiful car of your choice. [cheering and applauding] i think 2025 is a chance to be one of the strongest and most prosperous years in our country. we will do this fast. drilling goes fast, those guys know how to drill but they stopped them from drilling. i was proud. biggest oil bill, probably in the world, probably bigger than saudi arabia but very big and they close it up for 60 years, reagan tried and everybody tried, bush probably tried, who knows? i got it. i doubt it. reagan tried to get -- i got it done and the first week in august they knocked out the pipeline. they knocked out our pipeline of the keystone pipeline, keystone xl, they knocked up, 48000 jobs in the pipeline workers, they should fire the union people because union people endorsed biden and the following day after the election he terminated 48000 jobs and those people went bankrupt all those people suffered greatly. it's no wonder crooked joe biden did the far left lunatics, desperate to stop us by any means possible, they don't care how, they don't have them. they are weapon icing law enforcement for high-level election interference because we are eating them so badly and you look at the washington post had is up 11 and they apologized, can you believe it? he said there must be something, he is up 11 and the following day and asked we are up 12. [laughter] the polls just came out, a brand-new one. they are leaving with 67, desantis atlas 29 she said i will never run against you, sir. i will never run. the lieutenant governor in south carolina, henrik mcmaster, did anybody here? is great. he backed me, she backed another, he's a friend of mine now but she backed somebody e else. i wish she backed me because i was always nice but sometimes nice and politics doesn't matter. henrik mcmaster was right, lieutenant governor, i moved to over there and he became governor, he's done a fantastic job and she was fine. birdbrain, there's a reason for that name. the other guy, i got him elected, he was elected because of me and he forgot very qui quickly. i got him the nomination and i got passed a hot politician of the time, now a couple of years later a crackhead but at the time he was a hot politician and said he's going to be president someday and i said -- ron said i don't think i can beat him is that you become, you got the nomination, thank you very much. he just got the nomination, very interesting. he was losing by so much, i say to everybody, if george washington and abraham lincoln came back to endorse him, he had no chance and i endorsed him he went up like 40 or 50 points, almost immediately and ended up winning the people he was running against, a good person, i didn't feel guilty, i didn't know him. somebody said he was a rhino, it makes me feel better. [laughter] the person who is running against was up by numbers that were not beatable and when i came out and endorsed him, it was a different ballgame and then i got past, we did two or three rallies, the lowest was 45, 48000 people, tremendous rallies for ron desantis, that's why i call him sanctimonious. i should take the d out but i want a little relationship to his name. he tried to change his name, do you remember? he tried to change his name to ron desantis -- i sent a note to him, never change her name in the middle of a campaign, never a good thing but what we did was amazing, we got him elected and four years later the president was screaming at him, will you run against the president? he said i have no comment. he has no, that means he's running, we've got to hit this guy and my is backstage, they get paid they said sir, don't bother talking because people don't care about royalty. i said i think they do care, i think they do. i think they care a lot about royalty and we hit very hard, he's been falling out of the air like a seriously wounded bird to the ground and it's a pleasant see thing to see. we never want to say, got to get this finished. on television today for said primaries are over and i said don't listen to that. nothing is over i've seen things that are over and bad things can happen. you've got to get to the polls, get to the caucus and do your job, who got to win and focus on november and beat this crooked guy in office and i never spoke about him this way, i was respectful. how can you be respectful? he doesn't know anything, he can't put two sentences together and he is negotiating our nuclear package with kim jong un, who won't talk to him by the way, he won't even talk to him but he likes me. for four years, he had no trouble with north korea, no trouble. started a little rough, little rocket man, he said with got a red button on my desk, he said. i said i have a red button also but mine is bigger and better and it works. [laughter] [cheering] and then -- >> former president got around to campaign promises amid lots of cheering as you heard. many untruths, the 2020 election was not raped, not stolen but still, trump is way ahead in the polls and now to the man desperately trying to catch him, but listen to governor ron desantis. >> ninety minutes on national television to articulate conservative principles to show how freedom works and articulate a path forward for this country, i will take that opportunity and i will tell you this. [applause] i will tell you, we have had a number of debates and other things but the fact of the matter is, sean hannity deserves credit, that was the most substantive debate this country has had this entire political season because you saw the stakes. i want to take the opportunity and i think it was good and then it is the fact that as republican's, we choose our candidate, we cannot assume they are going to run biden a lot of democrats, higher ups, i think obama, bill clinton, all of these guys, the powerbrokers, i think they want biden out because ac is not up to the job and i think there is going to be a move and it's tricky how they do it but somebody like newsom would be waiting in the wings, maybe he's not considered a good option after that debate but who knows? we got to be prepared what whatever they throw at us and i want to show you as republicans that i can stand on stage not just with an 82-year-old president pass as prime but their most coveted rising star in the prime and known as a great debater so we show you put me on the stage next fall and i'm going to be able to do the job against all comers on the democratic party, bring whoever they want. [cheering and applauding] but the final reason i wanted to do it was because if you look, california is really the petri dish for american leftism. whatever biden and harris and these folks are cooking up in d.c. as bad as it is, i can get a lot worse and they look to california and the leftists there for guidance about what they want to do for this country so i was on a situation to be able to debate someone has had a hand in the collapse of very significant state and our country, mayor of san francisco, that city has collapsed and applied the same model to california, that's collapsing, losing population. if they want to take the model, they want to apply the nationally and that will destroy this country if we let it happen so those are the stakes we have coming forward in front of us. it's a time for choosing, do we want to choose the model we've shown works in florida and kim reynolds has shown works in iowa where you stand for conservative principles, where you are improving quality of life and standing for freedom? or are they going to double down on what we seen out of joe biden and lead us down a bad path? we need to choose freedom of or failure in this country and that was very clear in that debate. [applause] and one thing i think it's like with the left trying to do to this country what people in the media are helping them do is they are trying to lie to the public about almost everything going on. when the white house press secretary goes to the podium and tells you the border is secure, they think you are stupid. they are willing to say anything. when he was on the stage with me saying biden is a great president and clicking on all cylinders, that was a lie. we know it was all i. when he says california has lower taxes than florida, not only is that alive, even the people who like what's going on in california acknowledge one of the prices you pay living there is you pay higher taxes than elsewhere. we are not going to be ghastly by people who think we are done we are not going to be lied to and just take it. we are going to stand for the truth and ultimately we need truth in this country. [applause] i promised i would do the full, we delivered on the promise, i promised i would do all things in florida conservatives who want to see it done for years and years and almost never got done and still haven't gotten done outside of iowa, florida and a couple of other public and states yet we have done that so whenever i tell you i will do, i don't say that because i want your vote and forget about. if i tell you i'm going to do something, i not only intend to do it, i have a plan to get it done so what can you expect from me? kim mentioned, bob mentioned, we need somebody, a president who can serve two full terms. [applause] i've been break with my views on president trump campaign where he is campaigning on things he promised to do and 16 and didn't deliver and doing the same promises, build the wall, drain the swamp, special counsel for democrats, i have been friends but also acknowledged the things done that a lot things were done. the problem is, almost everything good that was done was reversed by biden on day o one. it great we had that and obviously it was better than a democrat what they would have done but literally, it evaporated with the stroke of a pen and that's because one term isn't enough to get the changes to stick. he got to be someone who can work with congress and get things in legislation. you need somebody like president reagan when he came in serving two terms and his legacy fart outlasted those eight years. the democrats weren't able to reverse what he was doing and his philosophy was the dominant philosophy or a quarter of a century. we got to have a president who can come in and not just be a caretaker for four years but a change agent for eight years that will fundamentally put this country on a different path. [cheering and applauding] so i will do that. after those eight years, what am i going to tell you we accomplished? i'm not running for a title, i thought a great state, great family, i've accomplished everything i said i what is governor, there's always more you try to do but we have had an outstanding run unlike anybody's has seen, especially for republican so i'm not running for a title, i'm running to deliver results this country needs to get back on track so after eight years, leave office in january of 2033 and handcuffed the reins hopefully to a worthy successor and what are you going to tell the american people you've accomplished? there is what i can tell you. one, we restore the american dream in this country. people are going to be able to get ahead who work hard and play by the rules and get the most out of their god given ability, not held back by government induced inflation, high interest rates, excessive spending, excessive bureaucracy and regulation, get rid of all that and give people the wrong way to succeed again and that includes having energy independence, security and opening up energy resources so we can be dominant in energy and pay less for gas and the other stuff and it's important we get it done. the other thing is we have restored the sovereignty of the united states of america. mexican drug cartels do not run our border anymore. [cheering and applauding] people are being poisoned by the tens of thousands, the invasion has ended and people have been sent back to their home country. we will also be able to say we revitalize our nation's mil military, we are the dominant power in this country and we have successfully fended off threat posed by the chinese communist party. twenty-first century is an american century and in short it remains an american century. [cheering and applauding] we are going to be able to say schools in this country are for educating kids, not indoctrinating kids. the rights of parents are respected. the welcome agenda is put in the dustbin of history and we teach kids to understand our constitution and founding principles and what it means to be an american so they can preserve our public for future generations. we will be able to say whether you live in a blue state or criminal held responsible for their crimes. we are not letting inmates run the asylum prosecutors will be held accountable and rule of law will have been restored throughout the land. we will be able to say we have restored the united states constitution to its rightful place as the center of our national political life. we'll have a government, limited government that works alongside us, not unaccountable, unlimited bureaucracy that imposes its will on us or what a nice against us. we have reconstitution left the federal government, we will have returned this government to its rightful owners, we the american people. [applause] if we can just say that, we've accomplished all that, that means we will have restored america to what reagan called the shining city on a hill. we will have in short we are not the first generation of americans to turn over to our kids and grandkids in america less prosperous and less free than the one we inherited. we will have risen up and have met the challenge of the day. our founding fathers understood this when they went to the constitutional convention in 1787 -- >> we will have more -- >> ron desantis wrapping up his blitz of the state of iowa. he was a all of iowa's 99 counties, the final one happening today. arthel, we are now six weeks away from the iowa caucuses. we will find out soon here is all that work from aldo's visit pay off with the iowa voters. ♪ >> we will find out more on this 6:00 p.m. fox report with jon scott. stay tuned, right here on fox news
