see how that goes. we've got the beginning of 8 full hours today and tomorrow. we start with this. a major shakeup on capitol hill. congress voting to expel george santos after house investigation. rachel: kathy hochul looking to hold a special election to fill his seat. will: alexandria hoff has the latest. >> reporter: the governor declared some confusion on this. up the party leaders in new york to choose the candidates will be part of the swing district special election. some thought governor hochul's statement said that she alone would choose santos's replacement stating, quote, i am prepared to undertake the solemn responsibility of filling the vacancy in new york's their district by scheduling a special election. the people of queens deserve nothing less. there will be scheduling for the third district seat, likely to place mid to late february. after that vote, 311 in favor, 114 nos and two present votes. santos flipped out before voting concluded. it was embarrassing and house ethics investigation found he used campaign funds for personal purposes and engaged in fraudulent conduct. within hours the house changed the locks to his office and removed his nameplate. he becomes the sixth member of the house and the first republican never to be expelled. santos said he expected it but it sets a dangerous precedent. >> it but their choice to change precedent, and blue me and with 3 confederate turncoats expelled for treason and two convicted members convicted in a court of law, i will be the first to get expelled from congress without a conviction, without committing treason. sets a dangerous precedent for the future, the demise of this body eventually. >> the republicans and john fetterman are saying democratic senator bob menand as of new jersey should be expelled next, he is charged with being a foreign agent and menand as's son who was a house member voted yesterday to expel santos. pete: shocking statement coming from senator john fetterman. has there been -- you would be forgiven because he is making a lot of sense, showing integrity. >> whatever drugs they are giving this guy get him to joe. rachel: this is a tweet from sean davis from the federalist. we will have the speaker of the house on later on the show, the priorities of the republican house in terms of trying to get rid of santos when they have so many other things to worry about including they have such a slim majority in the house why this was prioritized. this is from sean davis, he says hunter biden showed up on the house floor and smoked a blunt, rolled with chinese notes he got as a bribe forgetting his dad to the try cons while at the same time eric asked double wallwell did the same and he goes on to talk about rashida tlaib and all the other things, house republicans would respond by sending another one hundred $50 billion to ukraine and launching an investigation into matt gaetz and marjorie taylor greene. a lot of people feel like this. what the heck are your priorities. pete: he was a reliable vote for republicans. she's not running for reelection. it was the democrats that brought it forward but ultimately it was a lot of republican votes that voted to expel him. he was formerly known as the rebels billion drag queen. he's a joker. rachel: they injected a brazilian drag green from the white house is the headline. is a joke. pete: the point is the process. is not convicted of anything. he is only -- if we are going to go down, this is the path anyone accused, indictments brought against, let's get going, got a lot to go. pete: a man who brought since to this issue on the view, a deadly combination here, senator john fetterman, democrat from pennsylvania is talking about somebody else. watch. >> we have a colleague in the senate that actually did much more sinister and serious kinds of things, senator menand as. he needs to go and if you are going to expel santos, how can you allow somebody like menendez to remain in the senate. santos is almost funny. he landed on the moon and whereas, menand does is really a senator for egypt in new jersey. i really think he needs to go. will: we were talking about santos, not great stuff but kind of a dirty guy. will: saying his lies were so ridiculous and over-the-top. >> there was something fun about it. and fun. it is not exactly like what you see with menand is where you have a foreign government, we don't know how many bribes. menand as's track record goes back all the way to prostitutes in the dominican republic. this is not a small thing. pete: if you want to get one of the cooks in congress, you go with swallwell and shift and rashida tlaib, go down the list, there's plenty of people that could be due for that kind of treatment. pete: i don't feel like it sets a precedent. very rarely will you get members of your own party to expel. >> mayorkas is not being held accountable for lies that actually impact this country. that's not the priority. they can't get themselves together to get him impeached but they find time for santos. will: he's out because he's embarrassing. do it the way everybody does it. do were to drop out of the race. do you think that's a good strategy not to have plan b? >> he is the president. i fully expect him to be our nominee. >> is also the oldest president ever. the obvious question, if something were to happen, should democrats put a plan in place if something were to happen? >> did ronald reagan he was the oldest president? i don't think that's how elections happen. these are president, he is our nominee, and he is fully going to run a vigorous campaign. >> they do have a plan b. officially it is kamala harris. that's what they have to sell to the american people. it is like i'm trying to on the fly come up with a good analogy. if i'm going in a store and buying something that has an insurance policy i take at face value you are selling me the insurance policy. the insurance policy for president biden is kamala harris. rachel: does not. i think for one, having president biden not be with that and declined a little bit for them is not a problem. obama is in charge, the worst biden gets, the lesson charges, the more in charge obama is but they know they can't win if something does happen with president biden, with kamala harris. so gavin newsom appears to be stepping into that role and i think they have as i call the trump card which is michelle obama. >> it shows the power of the obama biden world. they have access to power. they are not going to give it up. joseph strong had a guy who got to the top. he may be old and may have lost his fastball but i don't see the plan b. i don't -- it is joe as long as humanly possible with her -- not communicating correctly. president biden is a broken down lawnchair that's about to the ground that anyone with eyes can see it. i'm not talking whether he is an investment for obama but physically he is 80 something years old and the likelihood of him dying on the job is much greater than 0. then it is kamala harris. you can tell me they are still going to control her behind-the-scenes but when you go to the voters and any real person thinking goes that dude i don't think he will make it through a second term and you have to consider that, than the plan b you are selling me is kamala so -- >> that the argument republicans will have to make. will: the voter has to see that. or voting for kamala harris. that's what you are voting for. pete: unless you live 5 more years and you are not. pete: there are three powerful people who want president obama -- joe biden doesn't want to give up our and jill biden who is really -- they are going to do it as long as they can because this is how the entire obama cabal, susan rice, valerie jarrett, all of them, this is the easiest way to keep control, you put newsom in, he may not -- >> how much of this is chaos behind-the-scenes. we talk about plan or whatever it is, we like to think there's an architect back there but probably a lot of handwringing, a lot of speculation, what do we do. relationships with different political camps matter. i don't know how connected the obama/biden team is to gavin newsom. do they not like him? do they like the fact that he defend them tepidly in public, in that debate? who knows? pete: they don't want the american people voting is a referendum on harris. they don't want that to be acknowledged as plan b, she got one% in a democratic primary. she would be rejected. that's why gavin newsom worked. he would like to be plan b. he may just well be. pete: we have a clip of that debate between desantis and gavin newsom where he has that idea. watch. >> i was talking to a fellow who made the move from california to florida telling me that florida is better governed, safer, better budget, lower taxes, all the stuff, he's really happy with the quality of life, that he paused and said by the way, i am gavin newsom's father in law. so we do count gavin's in-laws as people who have fled california. >> were nothing but a bully. understand that. intimidating and humiliate people. california does have freedoms some people don't -- other states don't, the freedom to defecate in public in california, you have the freedom to pitch a tent on the sunset boulevard, the freedom to create a homeless encampment under a freeway and light it on fire. >> there's one thing in closing we have in common, neither of us will be the nominee for our party in 2024. >> we have to get real and understand biden has no business running for president. gavin newsom agrees with that, he won't say that, that's why he's running a shadow campaign. >> i will take joe biden at one california. it is a home of 13,000 residents. most people think about famous movie stars like cher who lives near this site and already promised to leave the country should a particular person be elected president of the united states. this is also a community that is a sanctuary city in a declared sanctuary state with very very woke politics that is overwhelmingly voted for people like gavin newsom and joe biden. the politics going to happen against the reality of what an open unsecured border brought to you by biden/harris is doing to what is a very affluent community on the beach. will: i went to pepperdine. there are parents across the country sending their 18-year-old to be on those beaches at that time of the night, hoping to go to school in that town. in this instance you see a boat full of illegal immigrants unloading on the beach. do you think it was accidental? was it purposeful? why did this boat landed malibu? >> i think it is brazen, calculated and shows, human smugglers of these individual are -- individuals coming across work on landscaping, housing, it is an open market essentially. it is very calculated. there is an understanding of the impacts of woke politics and it is a danger overall to young people, the elderly, many people think that is only an issue that affects eagle pass. san diego, this is not only los angeles where it is easy to become absorbed in the la population but suddenly you are going even further. this is the martha's vineyard and it is showing people take a look at your politics. all these signs around malibu proclaiming love and beauty and nobody is illegal, i want to see the response from very woke city leaders and state officials as to how they intend to deal with an open border at this point that is causing havoc. pete: was this boat of illegal immigrants caught? i heard you on what they are going to do, we don't know, they could be from china, iran, do we know? >> there is a desire not to know because it really does highlight high profile, this is a serious crisis and failure to secure a border. i wouldn't be surprised if we don't get the information. there is desire not to know, to keep it quiet and do you think president biden cares? he cares about the climate agenda. >> he has to put the brakes on it. the supply is backing up, 3,000 dealers, it keeps growing on a daily basis, talking about all brands, chrysler, ford, general motors, historically dealerships carry 30 to 90 day supply of inventory. the evs, we have one year of inventory, consumers are not buying into. it doesn't matter if the manufacturers, some had $15,000 incentives along with $7500 tax credit, you are talking a $22,000 credit and the consumers are afraid of rage anxiety, these vehicles only go so far. if they are in cold climates the range gets reduced, there's no infrastructure or chargers to charge these vehicles. jason: 30% of the charging stations don't work, we are not ready for this transition. a lot of people like their cars the way they are. so what now?
