hello, i am griff jenkins along with lauren, charlie hurt and lisa boothe, welcome to the big weekend to show. the big story tonight. could tik tok take on president biden's reelection campaign in 2024? gen z influencers are using tik tok more and more to complain about high cost of living and what they call the silent depression. >> silent depression when you compare the great depression to today, this is going to blow your mind. 1930 during the great depress depression, the average homeowner in america was 3900 dollars. the average car was $600 and average rent was $18 orc to $16 a year. >> right now the average annual salary is $56000 a year. we currently are making less than the height of the great depression. in 1930 gas was on average 10 cents a gallon, that's about dollars .73 in case you haven't filled up early, average is $3.55. >> new houses are unaffordable cost to move to a place in rent somewhere else is unaffordable, terrible what's going on. >> preach but it's not just all gen z. bill maher, self-described liberal and prominent voice in our culture says biden is going to lose. >> i want to try a theory, why trump is killing it not just within the party but bidding biden handling, i've done many jokes as many comedians have about stepping and poop in san francisco, it's a city that needs to be put under control. they did because xi jinping was coming. the only clean up when company is coming over? [laughter] got the bit the guy sent us fentanyl sees somebody on fentanyl says why trump is winning because he talks about going to open up mental hospitals but he talks i will put people in camps, immigrants, all this stuff and people see a place for my country especially in the cities that looks out of control and the fact that democrats could control it for three days, how about make it permanent. >> a lot to unpack, let's go around the table, lisa, this notion in full disclosure, i have $2, i'm on tik tok. it's like a company and you are selling a product from the when the market is so i want to know what they are doing, i have no idea who chooses what to put on my tik tok. >> you know how to defend yourself back the venting of these young people buying a ho home, the opportunities, it is remarkable and unclear the white house is paying attention or can do anything about it. >> you live by the sword, die by the sword. the biden administration lied on tik tok stars to push his administration on things like ukraine and rising energy costs and use them to push the vaccine on young people as well, recent reports of his campaign team they think about joining tik tok so you live by the sword, die by the sword, tik tok has something like 150 million monthly users, majority are young. that's where they get their news, he's strongly with younger voters right now so it's mark politically. i remember obama in 2015 catching flak for sitting down with you to burst including the woman who bathes cereal and i guess drinks the milk up, everyone is like he's crazy, it's beneath the office, it is but smart politically because combined those people have more viewers than cable tv. >> it was smart and trump beat hillary, facebook folks to both campaigns and set will take people under campaigns and they said no thanks, trump said come on in and it was a big difference maker so one of the most predictable headlines i've ever read in recent weeks is this one, a scoop from axios, biden team joining tik tok to court young voters. there is -- the administration, federal government says you cannot have tik tok because of the obvious chinese spy apparatus, cannot have it on government fund but it can be campaign people, upbeat people outside to connect a man 81 years old on monday, it would take for gen z because they are about 20, four of them to equal one biden. >> it seems like a big mismatch. there's a major disconnect because on tik tok the young people who biden is trying to court meeting them where they are on tik tok, a platform they use and where they get their news from but they are anti- his brand. his bread is like not, it's not going well for anybody. if you are the biden administration campaigning in 2024, even young people are telling you -- the depression. >> on tik tok economics. >> is in trouble, you heard it from bill maher, it's not just this is not for biden, it good for trump fox polls this week came outside trump is up among young voters, among hispanic voters, black voters. this is back. >> it is bad. i want to play for you, charlie, a montage we hear because i know you put stockton celebrities. >> i have friends -- thank you. a good check because that's important. >> they support the democrat party. >> i have friends oil to the democrat party. >> you lost gen z on tik tok, assess this for us. >> this is where trump is at his best talking about what is obviously true to everybody but everybody refuses to say it, admit what is real and why he goes after political correctness but listen to trump, is always solving problems. he ran as america's mayor, he's going to solve this problem will build a wall, everything he talks about he talks about in terms of holding problems, he doesn't talk about ideological stuff and it's people like joe biden talks about, ideological stuff. trump saw through that and if you look back at the 2016 election, 2016 election was the most issue oriented election, about the issues and hillary clinton was talking about ideology stuff and trump was like i'm going to fix this and this and this and it resonated. this is what is particularly good news, the fact that trump derangement syndrome is like a virus, like pandemic, a virus that went full pandemic and went after everybody but if you let the pandemic run its course, it goes away because people buildup immunity, people who don't get, it lessens over time and i honestly think trump derangement syndrome is doing that, we are in the latter stages, people have been lied to about this evil stuff trump is in there like wait a minute, he's really right about taking mentally ill people off the streets, he's right about the border, he's really right about not needing to get into war and because her party and they are like actually, he is a take whatever, i could hear. >> it's not safe, i'll tell you that much. >> you jog my thought process you mentioned the pandemic and tik tok took off during the pandemic because no one had anything to do with these hours of being locked up and we got for you. search numbers, this is overall number of people, everybody who gets news from tik tok and mentioned this, the start of the pandemic from 3% today call on. 14%, everybody. now go to young adult who get news from tik tok went from 9% to 32% so nearly a third of people, young people are getting their news from tik tok last time i checked runs the gamut of all sorts of possibly not accurate news reporting. >> that's right i'm on the fence about tik tok, obviously it's the devil, china poisoning the minds of the youth if you want to destroy a country, would you do anything different than they are doing? you have to win over young voters to win or at least the numbers a little bit so to some extent a be you have to get on deck to reach the voting demographic and democrats have been taking advantage. i don't think it's going to get banned because you got joe biden thinking about it, democrats, they needed to feed the beast to get young people out so you can't beat them, join them. >> the algorithm is what's concerning. every media company or tech company that is a media company, they hide behind that. china is in charge of the algorithm on tik tok and they cannot afford to lose the u.s. marshall. >> if you are joe biden and clearly losing what should be an easy gettable block which is the young people get you got the china problem, do you give in and go out and? >> you promise student debt -- >> if tik tok skills information and giving them to the chinese communist, why not arrest the people who run tik tok? one important thing about tik tok taking off, it was the one place that didn't have all of these censorship controls, the one social media think where you could go and find all the stuff on these other apps. >> way to take us home. >> coming up, anti- israel protesters letting the streets from new york to nashville calling for israel's annihilation and notable celebrity joining. that's next. ♪ in order for small businesses to thrive, they need to be smart, efficient, savvy. making the most of every opportunity. that's why comcast business is introducing the small business bonus. for a limited time you can get up to a $1000 prepaid card with qualifying internet. yep, $1000. so switch to business internet from the company with the largest fastest reliable network and that powers more businesses than anyone else. learn how you can get $1000 back for your business today. comcast business. powering possibilities. ♪ >> welcome back to the the "big weekend show", thousands of protesters marching in solidarity with families of hamas hostages in jerusalem demanding israeli government do more to bring their loved ones home and here at home on israel to nashville. stephen has the update people wait watch until and gaza calls for cease-fire continues throughout metropolitan cities with pro- palestinian demonstrators turning out on almost a weekly basis in these places. check out god, more than a dozen social justice by look coalitions coming together to organize the rally called flood brooklyn for gaza. some chanting from the river to the sea which has been condemned by many as anti-semitic and some believe it call for israel to be wiped off the map entirely. >> all the people watching insane free palestine, i have a suggestion, it's old mind. if the palestinians would lay down their weapons and stop killing jews, they would have estate. if we lay down our weapons, we will be killed into last one of us and this is why we are protecting ourselves. >> look at this sign that says honor the mars, palestine you can see police presence keeping people out of the intersection and to nashville where we heard this.
