new development center and the israel hamas warp it is really forces closing in on a major hospital in gaza city which they believe conceals a terrorist command post. power is out at the al-shifa hospital there is no fuel to run the generators. good evening i am jon scott and this is the fox report. also tonight we are learning american warplanes have carried out another pair of airstrikes on a facility in eastern syria. it's used by iranian proxies are finding about more about the fatal crash of the u.s. blackhawk helicopter in the mediterranean we now know by the special ops forces were killed. many military officials reiterate aircraft is on a training mission was not brought down by hostile fire. we have team coverage on the situation in israel. lucas tomlinson is standing fight with the white house response to growing attacks on american bases in the middle east. alex hogan is on the ground in northern israel as the fighting continues with hezbollah forces just over the border and lebanon. let's begin with alex what is the latest there tonight. >> major escalation and the north this has been the most active day since the start of the war what was already the deadliest conflict here at the border of israel 2006 as many as 21 people have been wounded today alone print that includes soldiers and civilians. those who have not left this area ever take a look at this footage but it is the aftermath of antitank missiles that struck earlier today. hezbollah has claimed responsibility for some these tax with hamas operating in 11 and also claiming responsibility for other strikes. rocket attack taken place in northern israel in a city near the coast. hezbollah this weakens that it is using new weapons and ammunition. this is the second time that we have seen rockets from lebanon hit this deep into the country for the idea of retaliating today by launching airstrikes on a military imilitary infrastrucn lebanon. looking at the south that gaza the military there is that it is taking 20 members of hamas into custody for questioning per the pressure is building here in israel from the families of the hostages calling on the government to find them. today the u.s. state department says the u.s. and qatar are holding more tax to secure the release of those hostages. meanwhile today for civilians in gaza the health system there is a crumbling. two of the largest hospital stop taking patients because of the overcrowding. the lack of fuel on the fighting outside of those facilities were the largest hospital al-shifa the health ministry there which is run by hamas says there are 1500 patients the same number of medical staff as many as 20000 people seeking shelter. a mosque today it said it is suspending hostage negotiations over the conditions at that hospital. throughout military release video of its forces bringing fuel they placed about 80 gallons of fuel at the entrance to the hospital but claim hamas blocked his delivery. israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu this weekend said israel plans to take control of the security in gaza for an indefinite amount of time. worth noting we have heard from u.s. secretary of state entity blinken saying the u.s. doesn't support israel's right to defend itself but it does not support israel controlling or occupying gaza. seasick interesting video of the soldiers carrying fuel cans into the hospital. the israelis say that if you give fuel to gaza hamas appropriates it and uses it for a military or terrorist purposes. the fact that it went to the hospital is interesting. >> it is. we do note these hospitals are working and r in really dire conditions with international organizations like w.h.o., the red crescent, doctors without borders, sounding the alarm these hospital simply can no longer function we are continually hearing hamas is taking this to fu fuel and not g it to the hospitals, the patients who need it desperately especially when we know how many residents are in there including patients who are extremely sick including babies who need to get out. israel said they will come in they will try to rescue some of those babies bringing them to safety but there's a lot of questions realistically of how that would work given it was about a week ago when israel did strike an ambulance outside of a hospital the idf did say that ambulance wasn't being used by hamas but there is a very real question of what should be done to help the patients in those hospitals tonight is claiming they did not receive that fuel that is despite of course the footage that we have the idf delivering it. interesting, alex hogan in the israel lebanon border. president biden spent his weekend in delaware as iran backed proxies attacked even more military bases in the middle east. his high-stakes meeting chinese president xi jinping later this week looms large. ihis live in wilmington, delawae with more for us. >> jon, we their aircraft crashed in the mediterranean sea during a routine training mission for our service members for their lives on the line for our country every day. they literally take risks to keep the american people safe and secure but "fox news sunday" earlier shannon bream asked senator mark warner if i want has been deterred this was before the airstrikes earlier today this is how senator warner replied. >> by placing both the carrier group in the red sea we never normally announce that. bombing some of the facilities outside of iran is terribly important iran is very aware of the military presence. >> before the strikes to that u.s. force the middle east of an attack nearly 50 times in less than a month iran has proxy forces that continued trouncing loans targeting the 2500 american troops in iraq 900 and neighboring syria there in six attacks since wednesday after the pair of u.s. f-15 strike eagle's at the warehouse in eastern syria on wednesday used to store weapons months we have been having different conversations and we have rates the bar of expectation between the city, the county and the state. >> we will see how long things stay clean. critics question whether this massive cleanup job is just a band-aid for a problem that is a plague the city for decades. >> for years at san francisco residents have had to put up with rampant homelessness, open air drug use, assaults, and feces lined the streets all in the name of the twisted notion of equity. quest california has spent billions of dollars over the years to try to reduce homelessness but it is still a huge huge problem. this democrat run state. >> the good people of san francisco do not deserve a cleanup but a communist leader and a few other leaders they get it, right? at least it will be let's bring in retired navy rear admiral jon palmer author from bluegrass to bluewater lessons in farm and leadership. admiral thanks very much for being here. we were just talking about china and this upcoming meeting in san francisco. china has its fingers in what is going on in israel and gaza right now, doesn't it? >> they do and they have. thanks for having me on. i will tell you they are involved in the middle east predates the belt and rode a strategy they've been doing for 10 years. the fact of the matter is china's been involved in the middle east going away back it's involved with palestinians building relationships and subsequently they built a lot of good relationships with many arab nations. point of fact they now do a lot of economic business with israel over a billion dollars a year. a quarter of their oil imported oil comes from the middle east so they have a vested interest in this conflict not expanding. but they also have a powerful interest in bolstering their reputation and may be diminishing hours. this is a situation well defined strategy and sharp diplomacy is key and critical to leading our way through this problem. in fighting peace in the region. >> we don't see them fermenting more trouble they want to keep a lid on it but they also want to burnish the reputation. >> that nicely i look at it. they have too much at stake in the region right now. they would surely take an opportunity to sideswipe up if they could. jon: israel is the one that was attacked first on october 7 that horrific terrorist attack was hamas swarmed across the border. and yet israel is taking so much criticism now from mobs and protesters in the street in the united states and elsewhere. and even from leaders in other countries and some leaders in this country, why? >> i will tell you first, we have to keep in mind some of the factions involved in the backlash believe our ally israel has no right to exist as a state. that should temper our view of the backlash from my observation i think israel has done a credible job taking measures to get the word out in mitigate harm. this is tough sledding. this is urban warfare and unfortunately civilian tragedies are a consequence that is where the hostages are and that is where hamas is operating out for them. i do not see israel israel as ma choice. >> the united states is not only supporting israel but supporting the government of ukraine. can we continue to do that? do we have enough material to keep supplying both? >> let's assume congress and the president are intent on supporting israel and ukraine i
