republican rival former president donald trump. the former present hold a sizable lead in five key battleground states the same states president biden defeated trump on the 2020 election. this comments voters are expressing concern over biden's age the ability to serve another term. the biden team dismisses the pole #the poll that counts is election day that is far away and they say mr. biden will win. hello this is a brand-new hour of "fox news live" i'm eric shawn. arthel: i am arthel neville knew polling from the "new york times" and siena college is calling trouble for president biden will mr. trump's momentum showing no signs of slowing down. the other recent polls has the closest competitor trailing by dozens of points. this all comes as republican ron desantis is expected to score a key endorsement. reports the isle governor kim reynolds will announce her support for desantis at a rally into one tomorrow. fox news caught up with the florida government yesterday. >> wwe have got a job to do. we have a country we have to fight for. we have a winds at we not need to do it not just electorally but getting all of the stuff we need somebody is going to be able to lead the country to a great comeback. arthel: a bryan llenas' life and freedom summit in kissimmee, florida it with more. arthel and eric "new york times" siena college poll not only find 71% of registered voters believe it president biden is too old for the job, it also find they believe desmet also finds for president trump is beating present biden and five of six key battleground states waiting with on average 48 percentage over biden's 44 percentage points among registered voters. trump takes nevada, arizona, pennsylvania, georgia, and michigan biden's only win is in wisconsin by just two points of study lead trump has cut biden's lead with a black and hispanic voters in half the presidents favorability among non- white voters under 40 5a plummeting by 33-point since 2020 support from non- white voters over 45 is down 13 points. the poll posters for up trump's frfrontrunner status the gop primary. yesterday trump was a fan favorite at the florida freedom summit he touted endorsement ens imported senator rick scott and seven florida state legislatures including five who flipped their support from governor desantis. >> my people said sir don't hit him he has a republic i said i don't care if he is a republican we hit him hard and now he is like a wounded falling bird from the sky. ask today the desantis campaign struck back announcing i was a popular influential public and governor kim reynolds will endorse desantis monday night at a rally in a des moines, iowa right now governor desantis is trailing trump of the polls in iowa ahead of the january caucuses yesterday i asked desantis to be personal and often crude jabs as of late between him and trump would continue? quick signed of the trivialities it's not something we need to be concerned about we need to be concerned about looking forward proving to be concerned about winning and leading. correct the state in hialeah in. arthel: okay bryan llenas thank you. before the former president trump would win with more than 300 electoral votes so what could these polls predict question what sp spring and blue stack strategies founder mark gillespie the forces are nevada, georgia, arizona, and michigan. what do you make of the poll that shows a former president is leading mr. biden? >> is not surprising given right now president biden's leadership is a pretty weak that's evident given our economy, our border, and the stance as being not really take it as far as supporting our allies. but i would say about the polls is what is it tells about politics right now that posters, journalists are only assuming its trump versus biden. these are 77-year-old and 80 -year-olds that quite frankly have not given us much to look forward to prepare trump is talking backwards providing's something much at all. is this the best that we have to offer the country? now i'm not giving up yet at the republican nominee is going to be donald trump as a party we have to move forward it is time to move forward. eric: all the polls seem to show the photo president way out ahead that has not been shipped down at all. why do you have that position you think there could be somebody else? >> these polls are showing up trump versus biden match up it's not equating to what would be an matchup with nikki haley a month ago there polls and said she would be well ahead more ahead of bit biden than trump would b. but obviously it's pretty evident it's an opportunity for republicans. the harris biden ticket and unfortunate regarding backwards by looking at trump who lost in 2020 we have continued to lose with him at the helm as a party we really need to take advantage of the opportunity before us here but got a debate coming up this week coming up this is going to be really important few months for us to really think about what to be what our future to look like? what's your three close in age but 51% of democrats believe the president, president biden is too old to serve. there are some of the numbers up there. 59% of the democrats or 51% say they are. what you make of the fact the majority of the democrats think he's too old? >> to me it makes me sad this is the best we have to offer? they kanawha with someone better? congress men from minnesota just jumped into the very last minute most people left leaning commentators are sort of ignoring him quite frankly the biden team is doing so as well. he is a candidate as republicans will be an interesting head to head match up there. the factor sticking with president biden is to me again an opportunity for republicans to put somebody forward to his forward thinking and more well-rounded as a candidate. eric: when you think it is with president biden some of the voters who talked about the economy at the outset of our interview. but the white house is look unemployment is the lowest like it has been for 50 years. they knew projects, is it some people think he's too left? the progressives have captured the party too much they look at the border or they see potential causes being called for in gaza, the sort of thing? what do they see that is not working for the president now? >> i would say the weakness of leadership. the people are giving it the biggest case for why americans should be supporting ukraine and supporting our allies in israel is not coming from present biden it's coming from netanyahu in israel's coming from zelensky in ukraine. that to me shows weak leadership the fact of the matter is what is happening overseas impacts us at home. tpresent biden does not stand firm against the protesters that are not protesting for humanitarian efforts are protesting against israel. he is a failure to shoot into equivocal police stand up and be more vocal and more postal with his support there are times that leadership is so important some mike pence stand up against his own voters the people who protested were looking to kill him for his decision to stand by the constitution and certify the 2020 election. there protesters now coming out in attacking our white house vandalizing our buildings. in the president of the united states needs to stand up and unequivocally say we stand with israel stamped the people are hurting right now who are hostages by terrorist organization the unequivocal and unequivocablythat support. the weakness of leadership is telling the american people whether sport republicans are not going to go towards republicans they want strength, they want security. eric: the president certainly said the united states stands behind israel and israel has a right to defend itself. but at the bottom line do you see you remember jimmy carter, a general sense of uneasiness coming out of the pandemic the crime situation that we have had in the past people do look at the economy they see the migrants of the southern border. they see the instability in the world from ukraine to what is happening in israel. they put all of that together and say something is not exact the right. >> write fear plays a big part in how we votes. our bank account takes a big part to the economy plays a central we want to feel safe and secure here we want to be sure our kids can walk to school and feel safe. that to some think we should all want to make it to have here as americans they need to be protected and again republicans tend to draw people in as far as voters they believe republicans are best on the economy best on security and safety. this election coming up i think unless something changes dramatically in the next 13 months is going to be an important republicans are going to take the win. eric: those are the issues being focused on it right now those are the ones that do play to the republican strengths according to the polls. good to see you i know this will be the last poll we will be talking about. [laughter] until we get to the final one which is on election day. good to see you thank you. arthel? arthel: 's secretary of state antony blinken making surprise stops in the west bank and baghdad meeting with the palestinian authority president and iraq's prime minister. right now mr. blanket is currently in turkey for a meeting with top officials there. this comes as arab leaders are pushing harder for a complete cease-fire in gaza. alex hogan is life in southern israel with more. >> hi arthel the idf promised significant strikes on gaza tonight and we here at the board have been hearing those repeated sounds of artillery. idf also says it managed to push all the way toward the mediterranean. it is day 30 since the war began and in that time of these ground incursions as many as 30 israeli military soldiers have been killed in the battle they've also taken out 2500 hamas targets israel today is once again calling on residents in northern gaza to flee releasing this video the forces dropping more than 1 million pamphlets over gaza urging residents to go south now israeli forces have surrounded gaza comic gaza city may have made all the way to the mediterranean the idf says it will hold this line. >> are still allowing a corridor for residents of the northern to go down south. this is a one-word core door to go down south. we will continue to attack furiously and intensify underground operation. in the south and new problems for civilians in gaza trying to flee evacuations through the rafah crossing were suspended on satsaid after friday's israeli airstrike on an ambulance the idf claims hamas was using that vehicle as covered tonight qatar is warning these continued strikes will only prevent the possibility for more hostage negotiations any chance of a cease fire is something israeli officials say it simply is not on the table especially as attacks continue on israeli territory even where we are standing we were able to see as many as six rockets launched from gaza behind me in that direction that was giving a signal those rockets specifically were targeted toward the central israel. arthel: alex hogan it so complicated thank you so much for breaking it down. eric: senior defense official revealing this weekend there have been 31 so far attempted drone or rocket attacks targeting u.s. military bases in the middle east recently. the latest happened yesterday at the base in eastern syria. thankfully no damage or injuries were reported it's an ongoing threat from the iranian backed militias and others. mark meredith at the pentagon with the very latest on that. >> eric, good afternoon to the bibite of menstruation putting officials where the pentagon say they need congress to quickly approve a new military aid package not only to assist in israel what's happening in the middle east about ukraine as well. officials stressed the u.s. is providing military assistance there also warning there are limits given current funding levels. >> right now our immediate focus is supplemental getting that pass through congress. what we went to see is a supplemental past that funds are support for ukraine, for israel to meet our pacing challenges in the indo pacific, and of course the border. >> meantime u.s. officials remain on high alert for any potential attack against u.s. or coalition forces serving in the middle east as you mention since mid-october the u.s. is tracked 31 attempted drone and rocket attacks most happening and bases in syria and iraq. to protect u.s. forces pentagon continues to move military assets including drones into the region uss eisenhower arrived in the red sea recently after passing through the suez canal the eisenhower was just wrapping up some military exercises down in the mediterranean. this week and lawmakers are using the pentagon to his knowledge and expertise on to assist israel but to help israeli military leaders limit civilian casualties. senator jack reed says preventing civilian deaths could go a long way to preventing this conflict from getting any larger than it already is. >> we are trying, as i have said, to help israel focus and refocus efforts to be more precise in its targeting and to give less of eight rationale for some people who would attack israel on political grounds. >> lawmakers continuing to get briefings on what is happening on the ground in israel the pentagon says it is also no longer going to be able to provide security for lawmakers who want to be able to visit israel to get up close look at the situation the pentagon is also placing limits on which officials from here than the u.s. military can go over there right now because of course the situation is evolving quite quickly. seaport met mark, thank you. [background noises] pro- palestinian demonstrators trying to storm a military base housing u.s. troops in turkey. outrage grows over the conflict in the middle east we will have details on that up next. ur goal. wow... we can make this work. it can help you reach them with confidence. no wonder more than 9 out of 10 of our clients are likely to recommend us. ameriprise financial. advice worth talking about. with the freestyle libre 2 system know your glucose level and where it's headed without fingersticks. manage your diabetes with more confidence and lower your a1c. it's covered by medicare for those who qualify. ask your doctor about the freestyle libre 2 system. when moderate to severe ulcerative colitis takes you off course. put it in check with rinvoq, a once-daily pill. when i wanted to see results fast, rinvoq delivered rapid symptom relief and helped leave bathroom urgency behind. check. when uc tried to slow me down... i got lasting, steroid-free remission with rinvoq. check. and when uc caused damage rinvoq came through by visibly repairing my colon lining. check. rapid symptom relief... lasting steroid-free remission... ...and the chance to visibly repair the colon lining. check, check, and check. rinvoq can lower your ability to fight infections, including tb. serious infections and blood clots, some fatal; cancers, including lymphoma and skin cancer; death, heart attack, stroke, and tears in the stomach or intestines occurred. people 50 and older with at least 1 heart disease risk factor have higher risks. don't take if allergic to rinvoq as serious reactions can occur. tell your doctor if you are or may become pregnant. put uc in check and keep it there with rinvoq. ask your gastroenterologist about rinvoq and learn how abbvie can help you save. eric: turkish police as you can see using tear gas and water cannons to protesters from storming the airbase that houses u.s. troops in the country. regional tensions are building and nations in the middle east calling for a cease-fire as israel moves deeper into gaza but no indication hamas would honor any type of cease-fire. with more global reaction hi jeff. >> eric we are monitoring all of thesethese protested reforming l across the world. many of these demonstrations are entering their fourth straight weekend. we will start in germany thousands of demonstrators showed up to protest the israel hamas war this is a burly and some were carrying signs with the slogan stop the genocide in gaza others were worn by police that would break up the demonstration if they started chanting anti-semitic and anti- israel slogans which they say happened in previous weeks. two there's a huge protest that got under way got out of hand in turkey police had used tear gas as well as smoke grenades and water cannons as you see there to break up demonstrations outside the main u.s. base in southern turkey the group was reportedly trying to get inside the base ahead of u.s. secretary of state antony blinken's upcoming visit to turkey. >> our rage is huge we cannot hold it in but turkey is doing what it can. >> back here in london roughly 30,000 packed into the square on saturday for april palestinian raleigh. twenty-nine people were reportedly arrested for various offenses including inciting racial hatred other racially motivated crimes as well as assaulting a police officer appeared or been told the local transit police here in the uk is investigating footage of reporty shows a group of protesters chanting anti-semitic slogans on a train. >> alrall right jeff, and london thank you. palestine will be free. arthel: meanwhile anti-semitism is on the rise in college campuses across america with mounting pressure for universities to do more to protect their jewish students. some major donors even withholding funds over soft statements and lack of action by college presidents over anti-semitic speech at campus protests. and on college internet forms but let's bring you now danny is the associate professor of international public affairs at the watson institute at brown university. professor, thank you for joining us. i want to ask you this first, how can universities foster freedom of expression and protect students from being attacked or feeling unsafe on campus? >> me start by saying they have to, they must. freedom of speech is an important right it's a crucial right in democracy but it comes with accountability. i think perhaps for many decades we or society had some way of exerting freedom of speech without hurting there always cases and people were hurting others but what we have seen over the past few weeks all the lines are being blurred. it seems like administrators and universities don't really have a good pl plan it's urgent it cant waits. the speech we have seen it very close to all of us can easily convert into violence and very horrible things with him vulnerable minorities have suffered for many years. arthel: can professors address this anti-semitic crisis at the classroom level? >> look, in my classroom i do the biggest effort i can to make it inclusive to hear everybody's views. to make sure everybody can say what they think respecting everyone else. that's the way inside of the classroom and that is good on the outside of the clas classroy colleagues, faculty many places across the u.s. have gone into the speech they should stop it. they can take whichever side they want on the conflict even if it's far away from them if it doesn't relate to them they can take whatever side they have to condemn anti- terrorism and terror but they are not part of the solution they are part of the problem that is what we are seeing unfortunately on many college campuses and even among faculty. arthel: do you feel you can still teach history, refresh knowledge about history without appearing to formulate a narrative? >> you know i think it is important in my classroom to hear everybody's a penny every bit of different backgrounds have a different point of view the point here is to look for the truth universities doing research that are looking for the truth and i think we can achieve that with diversity but as long as we respect each other as angst means freedom of speech in a way that will move us forward not backward. and that freedom of speech comes with accountability prison whether it's converting the freedom of speech into hate speech should be accounted for that is something we need to figure out a way of doing it. very soon because otherwise it's going to be too late. arthel: let's hope not. let me read ace statement from a harvard alumnus disses open letter to the university universitypresident at harvard i do not believe anti-semitism is widespread among the student body and faculty at harvard rather i believe a small minority of students, faculty and staff are anti- somatic the administration in action and confronting the problem head on having them bold in this anti-semitic subset of the community to escalate their anti-semitic actions because there's not been any consequences for doing so. so first i would like to get your reaction to that. and also would you tell me if you think some of this is done by potentially or possibly done by outside organize agitators stoking violence on college campuses? >> absolutely. i want to believe so too that it is a very small minority but a very vocal minority. and for all others other students were not part of this minority other faculty are not part of the minority and administrators to step up and tell them to stop it stop immediately your words have consequences we have seen in previous audit cornell university students calling for killing jews. we saw jewish students were confined to a library when attackers were outside. these words are translating into physical violence. whoever is not part of the minority has to stand up and call against anti-semitism now it is the only way to do it if we don't do it now which is what wewere seeing over the past few days a lot of these speeches by the administration were very mild it's a snowball this becoming bigger and bigger. five if i could get a short answer on this at the big question though, what about expelling students who are out protesting and verbally chanting witthe killing of jewish studen? >> like i said before freedom of speech is an important is a core value it is perhaps the most central value of democracy but i do think it comes with accountability ever university has codes of ethics in every university has revelations those in these extreme cases you are mentioning have to be enforced i think students who are willingly calling for incitement and physical violence against minors like jews or any other minority people of color or muslims or any other minority religion they should be accounted for according to the university rules absolutely. arthel: understood. professor, these are trying times. thank you very much we appreciate your perspective through thank you. eric: there are new warnings that iran could strike here in our country right now targeting u.s. officials that chilling warning from the fbi director so how can we stop by ron from a terror attack in our country? >> eric, the united states has a variety of options. i would say number one would be to rid this world of the islamic republic of regime that's occupying my home country since the 1978 radical revolution which took power over there. let's not forget the united states as a world number one superpower and we have the ability to set back the islamic republic regime whether we want to bring an end to this regime once and for all and really allow peace to take hold across the middle east and north africa or whether we want to just bring their regime officials to justice. the variety of actions the united states can take is many fold meat are the world's number one superpower is just a question of whether the bite administration has the political will and i would say certainly if the regime would have the outrageous nerve to actually cause harm to a former or current u.s. government official whether it is john bolton or secretary pompeo whom they've also threatened many times or the former iran envoy for the trump administration those would clearly be redlines a bite administration would free the world of this evil that has taken over the iranian country and the iranian people. >> what would you suggest? what specific actions can we take? clamp down and the oil stop any sanctions the bite administration has lifted on them? can the 6 billion-dollar deal? >> eric, i think the question is what is at the iranians will have done question work if they will have done something like harming a u.s. official that i think that's the point where we would again take the regime a down strike their oil fields, strike their nuclear sites that is a declaration of war for them to try to harm an american government official. but in terms of escalation of this war i think what we need to see is again joe biden delineating a very clear redline to the islamic republic letting them know if any american is under harm or if they choose to escalate this into a regional war with expanding hezbollah participation in the islamic republic of iran themselves will feel america's retribution. to this date we have had the iranians hit american targets 90 times the u.s. is only retaliated five times we need to see the bite administration really draw that redline and enforce action against the islamic republic regime. eric: strong words against tehran to give them a warning and know it could be coming if they act improperly. thank you for joining us and thank you for your insight as always. >> thank you eric. >> of course. arthel: both political parties make a final pitch to voters before tuesday's elections. we'll take a closer look at the key issues at stake. ♪ if you're on medicare, remember, the annual enrollment period is here. the time to choose your coverage ends december 7th. so talk to unitedhealthcare about getting more of what matters, with our broad range of plans including an aarp medicare advantage plan from unitedhealthcare. it can combine your hospital and doctor coverage with prescription drug coverage, and more, all in one simple plan. you'll have $0 annual physical exams and lab tests. plus get more for your medicare dollar with $0 copays on most covered dental services a $0 eye exam with an eyewear allowance and $0 copays on hundreds of prescriptions. call unitedhealthcare today and let us help find a plan for your needs. ask about the all-in-one member ucard, too. and how it opens doors to a simpler healthcare experience. now's the time to get to know america's most chosen medicare advantage plans. call or go online today.
