the rules and his programs never got in trouble. he was trying to get the best out of players. >> ainsley: he was known for his outbursts, what a coach, three national championships, five final fours and inducted into hall of fame. >> steve: legend bobby knight dead at the age of 83, god rest his soul. >> ainsley: third hour of "fox and friends" starts now. >> steve: "fox and friends first"ed, it is 2:00 in the afternoon as you look at the rafah crossing. 400 americans are still stuck in gaza. country of egypt is allowing limited number of foreign nationals and wounded to go through the crossing. >> brian: dozens killed overnight, number of israeli troops killed going up to 18. >> ainsley: at home, vice president kamala harris announces we will fight -- while antisemitism is surging. lawrence. >> lawrence: this deli was targeted with a swastika two weeks ago. let's go live to trey yingst in southern israel. trey. >> trey: good morning. i will step out of the frame, i have breaking news to discuss. as we speak israelis are using artillery unit to hammer the area along the israel/gaza border. this is active fighting taking place, likely trying to hit the tunnel entrances where soldiers have been hitting troops. bahrain says they recalled their ambassador to israel and israeli ambassador has left bahrain. this is significant. this is just coming in. we should talk about this off the top, the abraham accord that was struck under trump administration in 2020, bilateral ties between israel and this key country, bahrain said it is suspending economic ties with israel. the basis of the agreement built upon is being suspended as result of this conflict, just yet another indication the region and communication and relationships israel developed over past several years are at risk amid this conflict. inside the gaza strip, fighting continue and israeli military says 18 soldiers have been killed this week in battles with hamas militants inside the strip. that number is expected to rise. they will take heavy casualties. take are using jets to provide support to infantry troops temperature is challenging push into gaza city and that is the final goal in this. take your attention to southern rafah crossing between gaza and egypt. today for second day in row, foreign citizens are crossing into egypt after being trapped inside gaza. take a listen to one american citizen who spoke about her experience while waiting at that crossing. >> the war got escalated so fast. a lot of people are dying. a lot of people are under the rubble of buildings. this is my fifth attempt to leave. we evacuated our house about 19 days ago. right now i'm between ice and fire, i don't know if i'm ever going to see the family i left behind or the friends i left behind. >> trey: incredibly difficult time, people have been waiting in gaza trying to get out since the war erupted. there are americans among the group and working to determine how many were able to cross today. guys. >> steve: trey, i was reading that apparently the idf is using ai, artificial intelligence to identify and hit new targets. the breaking news where they are currently targeting and i just heard one there, gaza with artillery suggest different stage of the war. artillery is not precise or surgical, it is more shooting that way. >> trey: it is great point and illustrates how challenging the fight is for the israelis because they are dealing with this tunnel network that allows hamas to come out and shoot soldiers. they were hit unexpected and they are trying to operate in thisirria. it is urban battlefield with tunnels and different areas. what we understand, they are trying to hit tunnel entrances and continue operating in the area. the enemy they are up against is an enemy that is not,a frayed to die. they will continue attacks against jews. i want you to listen to a senior hamas official who spoke over the past 24 hours about his take on the situation. take a listen. >> israel is a country that has no place on our land, we muft remove that country, it constitutes political catastrophe to the arab and islamic nation. it must be finished, we are not afraid, with full force, we must teach israel a lesson again and again. the flood is first time and there will be a second, third and fourth, we have determination and capabilities to fight. >> trey: a few years ago, i interviewed hammad in gaza city and he is considered more moderate member of hamas, if you can believe that. he is from the political ring, not the military wing. i will step out of the frame and let my cameraman pan in here. there is artillery hitting behind us, you hear the pop in the distance, incoming artillery, meant to support the infantry troops. we could see individual soldiers operating there. back to am hamad, the senior hamas official. he is saying they are going to try to do this again, kill as many israelis and jews around the world as possible and shows no remorse for slaughter of the innocent and he is from the political wing. >> brian: it is important for people to point out and the white house. i watched the whole interview and watched other members of the i guess political wing of hamas interviewed. they never talk about a two-state solution. i never see a palestinian say they don't speak for us, they talk about wiping out israel and not negotiating. the days of the izel agreement, those days are ago. i don't think they should talk a two-state solution. have you heard about a two-state solution from r hamas perspective? >> trey: no and senior hamas officials are considered people who are educated among the organization, some that i met in gaza city received education at universities in europe and those are officials. we're not talking about militants and fighters in the tunnel network, they are more extreme. in terms of what thissen moos and how it is playing out around the world, there are protesters around the world echoing the c sentiment of hamas officials and israel sees that. in new york, people are saying from the river to the sea, palestine will be free. they are talking about the jordan river and mediterranean sea, in between is the state of israel. they are calling for an annihilation of the jewish state. i don't know if they understand or if they genuinely believe there should be no israel. it is a dangerous situation, what is playing out on the ground affects the entire world. when you talk with american jews, people we have been talking with getting their take, they are terrified what comes next. they see people they live next to, neighbors and students calling for destruction of the jewish state. >> ainsley: a read a story in "new york post" this morning how they were killing the babies, putting them in ovens and turning on the oven. one guy was going through and finding this. he said he lost it, for five days, he was just inconsolable. the stories are so graphic. when they are on television station in lebanon -- >> steve: there is more. >> ainsley: you can hear that in the background. when he promises to do that second time, third time, fourth time, will the israelis stay there or move to another country? >> trey: some people are terrified about what comes next, others are determined to fight and destroy hamas. you see israelis come back home and go straight to reserve duty, head straight to their bases to serve their country and fight hamas. we should note here difference in hamas and palestinian peep and he will how complicated hamas is creating the situation on the ground. there was a clip and talk about it, it is really important, a clip the bbc aired of family member, a woman inside gaza and she screams out after looking at her family member, it is the hamas dogs that did this. the hamas leadership is not fighting for the palestinian people, they are fighting for themselves and the people who are paying the highest price, it is palestinian people. there are many peaceful palestinians, we know them, have eaten with them, been to their homes during ramadan. there is real understanding especially in moderate communities, in east jerusalem, there are palestinians who work alongside israelis in factories. they understand hamas has set this back decades. >> brian: i love that clip, we need to hunt for that and see it. >> steve: lawrence, set up next talking point, the vice president is busy. >> lawrence: yeah, quickly to put a bow on what trey was just talking about, his reporting is impactful in many ways. he initially stated that what bahrain was doing, removing ambassador, when people are spewing hamas talking points and this is why the press is critical, they are giving iran what they want. iran wants to unite the muslim world. the king came out with the hospital attack from israel, he was responding to his people. the uae, jordan and bahrain, they want peace and want economics, as well. the people that are part of the muslim world don't necessarily agree with that. iran wants to unite the muslim world whchl they see hamas talking points and the video they are showing that is not necessarily true, this empowers the cause. that is why we need the press to show the real story. not just americans are watching this, it is the country and people in an international community watching all over the world. i'm so glad trey is doing what he's doing. >> steve: and he's being very careful. lawrence is at world famous second avenue deli because it was a target of antisemitism. someone had painted swastikas there. yesterday in the face, wake of fbi director coming out and talking about how we're seeing antisemitism at historically high level, same day that 21-year-old engineering student up at cornell was charged with making threats to slit people's throats, jewish people, and rape them, the vice president of the united states announced a big plan. is it about antisemitism? no. it is about muslims and protecting them. watch this. >> for years muslims in america and those perceived to be muslim have endured number of hate-fuelled attacks. as result of the hamas terrorist attack in israel and humanitarian crisis in gaza, we have seen uptick in anti-palestinian, anti-arab and is islamaphobic actions. >> steve: and that is tone deaf, a lot of people say. look at all the antisemitism and now talking about that. new poll came out from the arab united institute shows joe biden support with arab americans -- concerned democrats from state of michigan are calling the white house saying if the policy is going to be 100% behind israel, you will lose support. if that is true and the president and white house putting re-election above what is in the united states best interest, that is wrong. >> brian: lawrence. >> lawrence: yeah, now do the 60%. i find it mind-blowing there was no focus on that. are you guys considering by not taking a bold stand, you will lose jewish support who vote democrat, as well. just do the right thing. look at the cover of the "new york post," not a shed of decency. these people are ripping down posters of the hostages, we can't agree that the hostages shouldn't be released from hamas, what else will we agree on. we can't agree beheading babies is wrong. we can't agree on putting babies in ovens. >> brian: or they doubt it happens. >> lawrence: right, or just let it happen. there are things you can debate on with israel and the palestinian authority, that is one thing, i will save that for your international class. but as the fact that remains, the people that died on that day, everyone should be able to condemn that. >> ainsley: absolutely, when you read the article in "new york post," the guy finding the babies in ovens and found the woman where they ripped out her baby from her stomach, killed the baby in front of her and killed her in front of her other kids. he says these are not regular enemies or situations, i saw little kids beheaded, we didn't know which head belonged to which child. some children had grandparents who were holocaust survivors and murdered at holocaust in israel in 2023. >> lawrence: listen, family, i told this story when i spoke to a rabbi about the civil rights movement, jewish people were some of the first that stood with black americans during civil rights movement, they allowed them in stores and acknowledged them as humans. sir, your grandfather was one of the first in the south to allow black folks in his cafe in the back and not only that, he acknowledged them as humans. are you surprised you guys are not getting that same support today? >> i'm proud of my grandfather to desegregate his cafe, he was a civil rights leader and i am myself, we are upset we are not getting that same love in return from the communities we support. i love what you just said, thank you for your support. we need people like you to say, we stand with the jewish community. we are alone right now, we need your support. please, we need you now. >> lawrence: he marched with dr. king. >> he did, we are all proud of that and supported him, we support equal rights for everybody and don't approve, why can't we agree on babies being beheaded is wrong, hostages taken that are holocaust survivors and babies, that is wrong. this is a clear thing to say that all should say together. >> lawrence: do y'all feel the support here in new york city? >> not really, i feel like this war has brought out antisemitism ugly head. it was always there, it was quelled, the pandora's box of hell has been unleashed in the streets and on college campuses and people are not speaking enough. we need to stand up and speak up issue it's wrong, you can't deny it. >> lawrence: when you see posters of the hostages taken down in new york city, how do you feel? >> it is infuriating, it really is and hearing shouts of from the river to the sea, palestine will be free temperature is calling for annihilation of our people and it wrong. it is blatant threats and terrifying what is happening. they famously protect every minority group, they need to protect the jewish community. >> lawrence: guys, you look on twitter and hear people say "fox and friends" has taken a side, we have taken the side of life and i don't think that should be hard for the media to tell the facts and true story and stand with the american jews here that are being harassed every single day. >> ainsley: you're right. we do take the side of life whether israeli or innocent civilians in the gaza area. >> steve: lawrence, great conversations at the second avenue >> somebody should give him a big mirror, that is where he ought to be looking for human rights violations. united nations is a flawed institution, we need to get tougher, we paid 22% of the united nation expenses. i think we ought to pay 195th of the expenses, but other countries getting benefit of the un, let them pay for it. >> steve: ambassador, the fbi director said it is at historic levels, the reason lawrence is at second avenue deli is because somebody did a swastika on the building. what do you make of yesterday vice president talking about the new plan the administration has not to fight antisemitism but to fight islamaphobia because same time look at the president polls with arab americans and down at 17% and he needs places like michigan, a swing state, if joe biden wants to get four more years. >> it is all politics and it's a shame and should be above politics and it's not. congresswoman jayapal, she refused to join this 400 plus member resolution condemning hamas and standing with israel. she warned publicly president biden you are getting too close to israel and you are going to lose the islamic vote. two days later kamala harris made an announcement, i'm waiting on announcement about antisemitism and punch line is we will fight islamaphobia, how tone deaf can you get. jews are 2% upon population and receiving 60% of religious based hate crime. i don't support islamaphobia, but today is not about that, it is about antisemitism. >> ainsley: you are right, ambassador, thank you for joining us. jewish people across the nation are on edge as anti-israel protest taking over and antisemitism make up 60% of all religious based hate crimes, what do jewish americans think? lawrence jones is live at the kosher second avenue deli. hi, lawrence. >> lawrence: good morning, family. several elements, college campuses and jewish communities and elected leaders. start at college campus, you are at nyu, what is lifelike there now? >> right now it is terrifying to be on campus as a jewish student. what we are seeing is professors and students alike pushing this rampant antisemitism and faculty is not doing much about it at all. we are seeing just a spew of facts that are simply not true. when you have conversations with students, they don't fully understand the conflict or understand the gazan people are political pawns by hamas. they don't realize while innocent people are suffering in i ga, leaders are living in mansions in qatar and lebanon, sitting on hundreds of millions of dollars. they are calling for eradication of the jewish state which holdses 40% of our population. they are calling what israel is doing genocide temperature is misconstrued, it is pushed by professors and faculty and jewish students do not feel safe. simply. >> lawrence: wow, we got to turn this around. if i can get you to go on this side, we have a father that is anticipating sending your child to college and you just heard those words. what goes through your mind? >> we spent the last month looking at colleges issue he's a senior right now. we are making our decision based on what is happening in the daily newspapers, press releases being made and changed around some colleges we are -- that he's choosing from. i'll add i am nervous about his safety wherever he goes and nervous about him feeling like he needs to hide his jewish identity. it is important to us he feel comfortable where he is and something that is on our mindless. >> lawrence: if you listen closely and talk to the jewish community, they say this sounds like the holocaust all over again and people have not been educated about this. your mom was a survivor of the holocaust. my mother escaped nazis during the middle of the night and i have family that was lost in the holocaust. she was lucky enough she left and to this day she has nightmares. it is history repeating itself. now to be scared to walk the streets of new york city, it is absolutely horrible and it is frightening. >> lawrence: one more person i want you to hear from. harvard grad. seems like the epicenter for anti-jewish csentiment, what do you make of it?
