You asked me if i had known july 11th that the operation would lead to such a war. Would i do it . I say no, absolutely not. Now, earlier today here in tel aviv, a bipartisan delegation of ten senators came here to meet their israeli counterparts, meet families of some of the hostages and see videos of the hamas mass massacre. Alabama senator katie britt said the following message to the terrorists in gaza to hamas, if youre not a coward, then give back every single hostage because you wouldnt need them. You would fight like a man. You would fight eye to eye. You wouldnt need human shields to do your job. Now, trey, last night, defense secretary lloyd austin ordered the uss Eisenhower Aircraft Carrier Strike Group to proceed to the middle east. Not the eastern mediterranean, as previously directed. And when it comes to the looming Israeli Ground assault on gaza, austin predicted it will be a tougher fight than the nine Month Campaign against isis in mosul. This may be a bit more difficult because of the underground network of tunnels and the fact that theyve had a long time to prepare for a fight. So i think youll see a fight thats characterized by a lot of ieds, a lot of booby traps, and just really grinding activity, going forward. Now, austin is also ordering that and patriot antiballistic Missile Systems to the region, a sign of the growing iranian threat. Of course, they have an arsenal of intermediate range ballistic missiles. And today the Us Embassy In Baghdad ordered all nonessential personnel to evacuate. A few days ago, the us embassy was issuing warnings for americans in lebanon to leave to make plans to leave as quickly as possible. Those warnings have become more urgent, but just today, the us embassy now saying americans should leave beirut immediately, even offering Emergency Loans to americans who want to leave the country but are unable to. This comes as israel has launched airstrikes against hezbollah positions in southern lebanon. They launched airstrikes against what they said were positions where hezbollah fighters were firing antitank missiles into israel in two days of skirmishing along israels northern border. So far, hezbollah claims to have lost 26 fighters, five Israeli Soldiers have been killed so far. And its clear israel is preparing for a possibly larger evacuation along its northern border. Theyve evacuated another 14 communities, so more than 30in all. Theyre basically asking 50,000 civilians who live in the north to move away from that border with lebanon due to concerns that there could be a much wider, more deadly second front tray. Back to you. So steve, do you really think hezbollah is interested in in a conflict with israel or are they just trying to divert assets away from gaza, trying to deplete Israeli Forces that may be headed into gaza . Youre right. Hezbollah officials themselves have said even at this stage of the low level fighting we are drawing the Israeli Forces away from any operation in hamas. They have to stay in the north to keep an eye on us. So thats certainly deliberate. But if there is a ground operation by israel, if there are a lot of casualties, hezbollah will become under increased pressure to join the fight in a bigger way. Trey thank you. Stay safe. And they became very good at it. You know, they they plan everything. And even when you look at the atrocities they committed two weeks ago in our communities, they took the time to Videotape Everything and to broadcast it live, to or to on facebook. So they know how to play with the media. We have to understand it. But i think what we have to do, we have to win in the battle ground. Maybe if they will continue to lie and we will continue to fight at the end of the day, they will not be around to message or to send anything to anyone. Ambassador, there are some in the region and frankly, there are some american politicians who have set this up as the west against arabs. Surely there are arab nations, to your point about the barbarism committed by hamas, surely there are arab nations who understand you cannot do what hamas did and not expect some kind of reprisal. So i dont accept it. I have many arab friends and they called me after they saw the barbaric behavior of the hamas isis terrorist organization. And they told me, we condemn it. This is not part of islam. This is not a part of our mentality or heritage. And i believe them because they know that those radicals will come after them, moderate muslim. They dont accept it. Those radicals. So i think we should focus on the radical cause and we should get the support from the moderate arab countries and they should be strong. They should tell their people that we cannot endorse those inhumane, barbaric who actually killed babies, raped women, kidnaped more than 200 people. No one can justify such a behavior. The ambassador, are there any arab nations that are willing if this is a humanity, korean crisis, if it is going to be a Humanity Crisis . Are there arab nations that are willing to let the Palestinian Issues cross their border and hang out there . I mean, the innocent palestinians, not hamas, but but are arab nations willing to help out and let palestinians come while this war is prosecuted. Well, we know in the past we have seen refugees. Hes moving from syria into jordan, into turkey. But you know what we have seen we have seen few countries say we will never accept palestinians. So instead of saying that they are reaching a hand to their brothers and sisters, theyre saying the opposite. We will not accept anyone from gaza. And i think that a pity. I think you know, they should look into receiving those people who wants to leave gaza. And because some of them, you know, they live under the occupation of hamas, under the hamas regime, im sure they would have been very happy to move to another place. But before ill let you go, everyone believes a Ground Offensive is imminent. The time gives hamas a chance to prepare. I guess it also builds world opinion. What what do you attribute the delay from the time of the attacks by hamas until the Ground Offensive . What do you attribute the delay to . So we are determined to eradicate hamas today. We have moved in a number of other assets, both bombers, a10s, f 35 seconds, which is our most modern stealth fighter, and 2000 troops are on standby. Thats in addition to what we already have in northern iraq, Eastern Syria and then other types of special operations. So those pieces are there. Ill tell you one thing that i am encouraged by is to hear that the eisenhower Carrier Strike group is not going to sit in the med. Its moving back around to the arabian gulf. I think that does two things. The good thing is it sends a strong message to iran that its right offshore of iran. And the thing im worried about is it could also be positioned to evacuate our embassies. While that is fine, if needed, the signal we should be sending that mike pompeo and President Trump sent was if you storm our embassy in iraq, you so much have a fingernail across that wall, we will drop all kinds of pain and hurt on you. Iranian backed militias in iraq. We dont want to be sending the signal that will cut and run because, again, that will only embolden in many of these militias. Right now. And then finally, trey, i would say, look, right now, israel can absolutely handle itself in gaza. But if they quickly find themselves in a four front war in lebanon, in the west bank, in syria, and bogged down in intense urban warfare in gaza, that could be that could be a lot of trouble. And in a real struggle for our greatest ally. And then at that point, were going to have some a National Conversation on do we step in and do we need to assist. Congressman you mentioned mike pompeo. Freezing things in place where they are now would allow hamas to remain where it is and to repeat what its done sometime in the future. And i havent seen any of them calling for a Cease Fire In in ukraine, in russia. So why only with israel one and then two, while i appreciate that, Secretary Of States blinken, Secretary Of State blinkens message, then on the one that confounds me is President Biden continuing to say that hes telling netanyahu to abide by the laws of warfare, to be sure that they that they understand and human rights. Its sending all the wrong signal to our adversaries. Are they really struggling to understand the depravity of what hamas did . I dont think they are struggling to understand the depravity they are well familiar after confronting isis and al qaeda. But what you are seeing is the hesitance of american commitment to our partners and allies especially to israel they cannot be more pro israel than the United States whether reluctance and seen as constraining israel rather than supporting them with this horrific aftermath that there is trepidation and hesitation and fear on the part of israels neighbors and that is what you are seeing. Trey what should we be saying to israel . I dont know anymore than what you know hearing the president speak so what message should be be sending to israel and to others who are watching . The same thing we wanted to hear and mostly did here in the aftermath of 9 11. We are with you 100 percent. Rather than constrain our partner we should support them wholly. In addition and make sure there is absolutely no possibility that conflict would escalate and others would be involved. To do that, we have to confront who is behind this to ensure they understand escalation cost more than they would benefit then we see more in the region than israel itself.
