And they are the first group that are going to join us. The reservations are just full, guys. So they had to do two sets of reservations. So this is the first group. Steve thats cool. Lawrence they watched the debate last night. They have thoughts. They have been watching the direction of the country. We cant wait to speak to them all. I have already spoken with some of them this morning. There is a big group here this morning. Brian think about it, lawrence. If you survive iowa, then you have to survive New Hampshire and get yourself to South Carolina. There is so much pressure on the people of New Hampshire, and their 1 million plus to come up with a candidate. And governor chris sununu says by the time they get to New Hampshire, i only want one or two candidates up there. Its better for the Republican Party to do what the democrats did. Its going to be tough. We have at least seven. Last night everyone talking about being disappointed. I wasnt disappointed. I want to see how it goes. I saw seven people that desperately want to win. They said this is my moment. My donors will leave. My polls will drop. I will not be back unless i do something special. And thats what i saw. Ainsley so i love a debate and i know everyone was focused on that first debate. Always fun to watch the first debate. It was wonderful to watcher the second debate, too. The moderators did a great job trying to keep them from talking over each other. They were doing their best. What i gathered from this with all of them talking over each other throughout the night. They are all trying to get a word in. To your point, brian, they know this is crucial because, eventually, people are going to start falling off the edge of the stage. And they want to be the last man standing. So they were desperate to talk. Talking over each other. They were trying to throw out those one liners, mike pence was talking about well first of all, it was Chris Christie was talking about how biden has been in bed with the Teachers Unions, the president was sleeping with the head of the Teachers Union with Randi Weingarten. Just saying they are in bed together. Brian with jill. Ainsley i thought they were talking about it the head. I didnt mean literally i meant that Randi Weingarten is running the country when it comes to our schools and masks. Then you add mike pence who says i have been sleeping with a School Teacher for 38 years. I see him as such a christian holy man. Steve 120 minutes there was a lot of cross talk. But because there is a lot on the line Third Quarter fundraising. That number is about to come out there are and, brian, you are right. You touched on the donors and that is why people needed a breakout. You know, and throughout the morning here in about 20 minutes, were going to have lee carter with us and she is going to tell us about the people who watched it and did the dials. Ainsley did you like it. Steve the debate . I thought it was pretty good. Ultimately, once again, i think ron desantis was crisp, he was measured. He had a good debate. Nikki haley, again, once again h a really good debate. You know, the interesting thing and were going to go in do you the d duels through the night. Nikki haley and tim scott on the Campaign Trail they shook it up. He went after her about spending 50,000 on drapes when she was United Nations ambassador. Ainsley lawrence and brian and steve, shear did not buy those drapes. The New York Times did a big barrel it. Steve i saw that. Ainsley they had to retract it because it was the Obama Administration put these drapes in that first avenue apartment where the u. N. Ambassador lives. Lawrence such a good point. Steve you have got these two from South Carolina nikki haley and tim scott on the Campaign Trail they have really been cordial until last night. And the irony is and they went after each other. The irony is it was about 10, 11 years ago. Nikki haley actually appointed tim scott u. S. Senator when jim dement retired. Ainsley she prefaced it i really like you tim scott. Tim scott and i worked together allot before she blasted him. Steve boom. Brian asked by the moderators to take each other on. They did. Marco rubio was mentored by jeb bush. I cant believe you are in the race im in the race. Its my time. Not their time for anyone. You have a monitor over there, lawrence. Right . The total minutes of speaking time so far it looks like ramaswamy again for the second straight debate most time 12 minutes. Desantis right behind him. The last was doug b burgum. Greatest moment forced his way in electric cars and what we are really doing with the Auto Industry and why the people on the picket line wasting their time they have been left out to dry by this administration. Followed by scott is the third. He got the first question. Nikki haley was crisp on was strong on almost every topic ready to go. Chris christie is the most comfortable in the format. He got nine minutes plus followed by mike pence. I dont necessarily think the total time talks about how successful you were. I think it was pretty clear, ainsley, that they were upset at vivek last debate. They thought as though he got away with a lot. They were all going after him. Hence, he got the most time. Ainsley vivek, he said what i did learn and yall might have learned the same thing, not as many zingers this time. Did i learn a lot about their policy. Vivek talked about ending birthright citizenship. I have never heard him say that before. Brian 14th amendment. Ainsley if dint i can children diplomats in the United States if their children are born on u. S. Soil. Their children dont get citizenship. Why should illegal children born on u. S. Soil, why should they get citizenship . So i thought that was an interesting point. Mike pence was talking about crime. He said he wanted to pass a federal expedited Death Penalty for mass shooters and he talked he said ron desantis you got the Parkland Shooter is he still behind bars for the rest of his life. He wants a mandatory quick Death Penalty. Steve over the next three hours, we are going to be taking apart a lot of those conversations. In the meantime, our producers were up All Night Long. And part of how we win elections is reaching the next generation of Young Americans where they are. There were a few debate moments that were big. I got say there was some policy talked about. Burgum, who i dont know a lot about had some moments, if you know what . If it were a different time, this guy would have gotten more oxygen. We are in such a polarizing time right now. Donald trump obviously takes up a lot of the oxygen. You have got ron desantis who has his record as a governor. You have nikki haley who is probably the Foreign Policy establishment candidate in the race. I think what were going to see and the rnc hasnt released what the rules are going to be for the next debate. But i think that its going to be a coalescing. Theyre gonna want to see nikki haley. They are probably going to want to see moron desantis. They are probably going to want to see r Vivek Ramaswamy. Like President Trump. They want the main character so they can figure how the is going to be the trump alternative. Again, not enough time to really hear them dive into those specific policy points. Brian i think thats the point, lawrence, seven people on the stage last time at this point we had two stages. We had one and two about 14 people. We are lucky to have seven at this point. But it makes it really tough. And desperate candidates with so much on the line and obviously its their goal. They are going to go out there and they just kept talking. The thing that struck me, this is the time sometimes you cross talk and then you have to pull back. Nobody was pulling back. They were just going on and on and on until it was deafening. Ainsley last one talking, right . Brian then you say to yourself am i by not jumping inside here. You saw one side of the stage not do that. Did you notice how they went after each other. I went d. Some factchecking this morning to find out what was correct and wasnt. Chris christie said donald trump only built 52 miles of the wall mexico might have paid for it if they only known 52 miles. Mike pence said no i was there during that period we built hundreds of miles of border wall. And i negotiated the remain in mexico. Nikki haley was calling out desantis for being against fracking and if you read articles, politifact says when desantis ran in 2018, he did campaign on banning hydraulic fracking and oil drilling off of the coast of florida. He opposes fracking out there in the water off the coast but not everywhere else. He kept saying thats not true. Thats not true. Brian couple of factchecks the New York Times took that on. First off, you are right about the wall. Chris christie has to stop saying it because 52 miles of new wall. Each the New York Times says its 458 miles. Including secondary barriers. He says much is replacement barriers, its true. But there is no comparison between old Railroad Ties which you step over and 30foot high ballards. So i think thats a democratic Talking Point that Chris Christie should drop at this point because its just not true and if you talk to the Border Patrol. They are so thankful to have the 30foot barriers and they look wistfully at the piles of metal that we paid for that joe biden is selling off. Ainsley is true that trump added 7 trillion in National Debt . Brian its a little bit more. But its also kind of crazy to add in the pandemic money when you are told the first time in history for the country to stop working and we will pay you not to work. Ainsley that was a real outlier. Steve it was, indeed. Brian joe biden just over 5 trillion already and no pandemic and a recovering economy and a vaccine. Steve one of the other things, one policy. When we look at the polls, the number one issue with everybody in the United States seems to be the economy, inflation, stuff like that. And you know, bidenomics should have been a punching bag last night. It shut have been a pinata. Lawrence not a lot of talk about it. Steve there was not a lot of talk about the economy. Im sure they are popping Champagne Corks at the white house. Well, bidenomics, we got a pass last night. And, information, i read some of the comments that mark penn made. He had been Hillary Clintons pollster over on foxnews. Com. They got a pass. The winner was joe biden some have said on the political left. But, when it comes to something that we didnt see in the first debate that we saw last night, was the seven on stage last night actually went after a couple of them, went after donald trump. And that is one of the things that we have seen Chris Christie do. But we havent seen ron desantis do it. His donors, his backers have been pushing him to do it. Here are the two governors, desantis and christie. Christie, of course, former in the great state of new jersey. Going after the former president of the United States. Joe biden, hes completely missing in action from leadership. And do you know who else is missing in action . Donald trump is missing in action. He should be on this stage tonight. He should be here explaining his comments to try to say that prolife protections are somehow a terrible thing. I want him to look into the eyes and tell people who have been fighting this fight for a long time. Donald trump hides behind the walls of his golf clubs and wont show up here to answer questions like all the rest of us are up here to ena. He put 7 trillion on the debt. [applause] he should be in this room. Donald, i know you are watching, you cant help your 1678. I know you are watching, okay . You are not here tonight not because of polls and not because of your indictments. You are not here tonight because you are afraid of being on this stage and defending your record. You are ducking these things. And let me tell you what is going to happen you keep doing that, no one up here is going to call you donald trump anymore, we will call you donald duck. Steve i dont think donald trump liked the republicans on the stage criticizing him because after the debate last night, Chris Loss Individual Da who is one of trumps senior advisers he called the rnc and said you need to get from the former president , we need to cancel further debates so the party can focus on attacking President Biden not donald trump. Brian see if he shows up in alabama next, lawrence. Lawrence yeah, ron desantis actually challenged the former president on Sean Hannitys show last night at the debate 101 debate. I think thats interesting. People have been looking for that moment right there where ron desantis would start to take donald trump on. Obviously they are the two leading candidates. The question is, is it too late . I mean, i would have expected him to do this months ago. If he is the big elephant in the room, you should be going after him. If the other candidates arent really relevant. Thats what he should have done earlier. Brian, i just wonder if its too late for that strategy. It was nice to see, but is it too late . Brian you got to have a balance. You know, Chris Christie is nonstop going after trump, but, you have to know that seven out of every 10 people that you are talking to like trump. They just have to like you better. So you dont have to leave trump. You have to convince them that you are better than him. Because you agree with probably 75 of what he did. I think its a real tough subtly. If you go out too hard. People go okay, you are just one of the masses who is critical of donald trump, but if you say i like what he did and heres what i would do better, that might be the strategy. And i think last night that that looked like the old ron desantis last night. Ainsley it is interesting to watch the debates. I wish donald trump had participated. But i feel like im watching the Vice President s debate. I know they dont want to hear that they say no we are running for president. I think we are just trying to choose who donald trump is going to pick and best for our country. Waiting in the wings all these court cases something hans and he is not able to run and one of them can jump up and be able to da it. Same with the Democratic Party. Im watching gavin newsom on with sean hannity after the debate. Here is in california. Is he asking him are you going to run . Would you put your hat in the ring . No, no, no. I feel like the same thing is hang in the Democratic Party too. How about in the end dana said you have a piece of paper in front of you write down the name of the candidate you want off the stage we all kind of agreed we dont want to do this and shoot within the tent. Then she said i noticed you, Chris Christie you wrote something on your paper. I will tell you i wrote trump. I walked him off the stage. Steve ainsley, you are absolutely right. Given the fact that donald trump is so far ahead in the polls right now, it really and you got nikki and you have got ron desantis and tim scott and everybody else kind of clumped up in the mid double digits. Last night was a fight for second place. Ainsley when is the next debate . Do we know . Steve its going to be a while. Brian next month in alabama i thought. Lawrence just to put a button on this, one thing miss from the debate last night, and guy back to 2016, is to focus on the forgotten Men And Women of this country. People shouldnt be afraid of donald trump. They should be afraid of the people that support him. This is what the candidates should be afraid of. And they have to win those people over. And those people dont feel like anyone in washington or in State Government are fighting for them. So how do you win them over . Talk about the issues that matter to their hearts. I feel like the candidates have an opportunity to do that last night. They just didnt take advantage of that moment. They were so focused on each other that they forgot who the main audience was, cleanup is the forgotten Men And Women of this country. Brian lawrence, what makes it worse is it looks like they are attacking the one guy that is going to bat for them with four indictments, 91 counts, and now personally and civilly. So you are making it personal. You are dismissing me as a voter. And then you are dismissing the one person who i thought had my views and had my back. Bill good morning to you guys. You guys have it covered. There was a lot of bickering going on at the debated last night. A lot of interrupting as well. Seemed like the knives were out for Vivek Ramaswamy. He tangled with several of the candidates on stage. One of the topics of the conversation was the ongoing United Auto Workers strike. Several of the candidates critical of President Biden for going to the picket lines, visiting the picket lines. Each of the candidates were asked where do they stand on this strike . Do they side with the union or do they side with the Auto Companies . And heres what Vivek Ramaswamy had to say. People are going through real hardship in this country. If i was giving advice to those workers, i would say go picket in front of the white house in washington, d. C. Thats really where the protest needs to be. Bill north dakota governor doug burgum had a decent answer on this as well. He said the cause of this strike in the first place is because the Biden Administration has been subsidizing Electric Vehicles with batteries essentially made in china. Heres part of his answer. The batteries come from china. China controls 85 of the rare earth mineral. China is moving 100,000 pounds of earth in indonesia, in africa. They are literally destroying the planet so we can make a battery thats in a car subsidized here. Bill china was a huge topic of conversation throughout the debate last night, particularly the National Security threat. It poses to the United States. Several candidates asked how they would handle china. Nikki haley had this answer about how she says her former boss, former President Trump failed when it came to china. Take a listen. This is where President Trump went wrong. He focused on trade with china. He didnt foundation on the fact that they were buying up our farmland. He didnt foundation on the fact that they were killing americans. He didnt focus on the fact they were still billions of dollars in intellectual property. They didnt focus on the fact that drones in america are chinese. We have surveillance cells. We need to start focusing on what keeps americans safe. Bill School Choice another topic of conversation last night as it has been with the conservative base for years now propelling Glenn Youngkin to a win. Ron desantis had a great answer on this. Basically saying look what we did in florida. This should be the model for republicans all over the country. Take a listen. South carolina senator tim scott tried to keep going with his positive message about america, saying america is not a racist country. It is a beacon on the hill. Here is part of what he had to say. Bill another topic of conversation, obamacare and what to do with it. Vp mike pence asked directly would you keep it . Would you get rid of it . Would you try to give power back to the states . My intention to make the federal government smaller by returning to the states those resources and programs that are rightfully theirs under the Tenth Amendment of the constitution. That means all obamacare funding. All housing funding. All hhs funding. All of it goes back to the states. Bill and, lawrence just pointed this out a few minutes ago but i thought it was interesting as well. While Governor Ron Desantis was interviewing with sean hannity in the spin room last night after the debate, he challenged former President Trump to a oneonone debate. Asserting himself more, trying to take donald trump directly head on the Trump Campaign responded to that on twitter last night. Apparently ron desantis challenged trump to a oneonone debate. They declined that offer saying that they are not thirsty or desperate for attention, governor desantis. And then they tied him to governor gavin newsom here in california because of the debate they are going to be doing later on in november. So it was just interesting to sees a lawrence was mentioning. Governor desantis finally kind of stepping up and trying to be more assertive in taking donald trump on directly but it doesnt look like the Trump Campaign is interested in a oneonone debate with governor desantis. Steve doesnt look like it. Brian bill, must have looked good to know they were talking about your gig the border. At least its getting some attention, right . Bill yeah. Absolutely. I thought it was great we had the live drone down there in the middle of the debate. They are talking about the border and we had the drone down there showing illegal crossings and people being processed. Ainsley what was that picture people getting on a bus . Steve being processed. Bill Port Of Entry eagle pass all week long showing the images of the nonstop crossings. People crossing over illegally getting put on the Border Patrol bus and going to a processing center. Ainsley brought up a good point about desantis we heard over the last few weeks he needs to talk about its had record what he did in florida. You are right he did it with education and china. And thats why the trump team was so confident last night. Ron desantis trying to have that balance, right . He was strong. Especially that answer about i fought the big fights and i won the big fights that came later in the debate. Got a big reaction from the crowd. As you pointed out also decided to go after the former president in a new way last night. How does that bring in more support . And then rams who spoke the most. Ramaswamy who spoke the most. Last debate he said you are all bought and paid for artillery come in. This case he said you are good people. I dont want to have it out. Lets do regans 11th Commandment and the are a till y come in. Lawrence did you want the president to show up to this debate . It would have been it certainly would have made it more interesting. But i can understand his reasoning for not wanting to compete and move down in the polls. I dont blame him for not showing up.
