Were so honored to have you here. Thank you for having me. Ainsley we share the same faith. What is happening amongst our youth now . You see all these stories. I dont know when it comes to faith, i can just speak for myself but i did want to write this book to encourage people to listen to that call and when you hear that call, to answer it and in answering gods call, he will give you the grace to serve and i think once you answer that call just a peace surrounds you and maybe thats what our young people are experiencing. Ainsley how do you know when god is calling you . I talk about this a lot in the book and i have lots of little behind the scenes stories at the white house and governors residence and i talk about when weve had to make decisions and how we know is god calling me to do this or is this just my own ambition . And i think when you pray a lot about it, you go to the word, and then you make that decision, i know in my life when ive answered the call, i just feel a peace and a calm settles in. Then i move forward. He gives me the grace and he has all the way through our whole political career. Ainsley i know you start evidence as an Elementary School teacher. You have seen your husband change professions from the radio show to serving in indiana and then becoming Vice President of the United States. You moved around, i think, 18 different moves, countless surprises and your faith helped navigate this journey. Did some decisions when you pray and pray, how long does it take for god to answer . Well you know, its interesting because i think a lot of it is faith. So it is stepping out. I tell one story in the book about when mike and i had to decide whether or not we were going to run for a third time. We lost the first two times we ran for congress. We had three kids and i would have to consider moving to washington and raising them there. We took a vacation to the Teddy Roosevelt National Forest and we were up on a mountain and we just sat on the side of a bluff and mike said we have to make a decision. Are we going to run or not . At that moment, these two Red Tail Hawks just lifted up, you know, on a wind current and right then i said you know what . I think we should run. But not like the first two times where we ran out of our own ambition. We should step off this cliff and make ourselves available to god and if he wants to lift us up, were available wherever he wants us to serve. And we said lets do it with no flapping. Thats kind of become our mantra. He gave us that peace then. Once we made the decision, then the calm settled in. Ainsley god took you to the edge and told you what he wanted you to do and you won.
