First of all, most of us, if not all, have immune memory from previous infections or from vaccinations we have had. Subvariant you are talking about eg. 5 by all estimates more severe and not even more contagious than previous variants. But it may cause a resurgence of some kind. We are seeing 13 increase in hospitalizations. Up to about 9,000 a week. But to give you an idea, thats about one fifth of where we were last year. And the cases are about one fifth of where we were last year. I dont think we are heading back in that direction. I dont think theres any place for fearmongering. And as far as masks are concerned, they are not a panacea. If you want to wear them in close quarters. I wear them in the doctors office. There are places high risk people might wear them. The idea hauling them back out is going to make this go away or way of showing you are loyal to some idea is really not good medicine. Bret we have this chart that shows the increase in hospitalizations. You are right. While you do see more masks out there, its tough to listen to the experts tell you that you have got to do this or you should do this after all we have been through. Children as young as 6 coming in often talking about suicide. So sad but we have talked to a number of Health Officials that this Mental Health issue with kids is really a huge deal. This is a huge deal. I agree. I talk to deb howard the officer last week increasing suicide rate. Its still going up. The problem with kids is a lot of them got disassociated during the pandemic. They didnt have the usual people to play with. They may feel stigmatized. They will may be too connected to social media. There is a lot of anxiety and depression. We talked about shortages of medication. Psychiatric medications. What to do about it, the American American academy of pes is saying we need more pediatric Mental Health experts in the e. R. We need more in the community. There is shortage of people like that with this expertise. Can you come up with all the protocols how to approach this and all for increasing awareness. The role is with the family. Family awareness. Connect with your children. Ask them the tough questions and then if you find the answers disturbed get your physician involved. Five School Districts in the commonwealth are refusing to comply with a new state policy which requires students use a bathroom which correspondence to their sex assigned at birth as opposed to a gender they may currently identify with. Governor Glenn Youngkin supports the changes. A spokesperson tells fox those districts not complying perpetuate a false notion that they know what is better for a child than a childs parent. The schools refusing to comply with virginias policy on gender say they are able to ignore the orders coming out of richmond so they can comply with antidiscrimination laws. Homes are just at record levels of affordability. Prices are up. Interest rates are up. That comes together to make it very difficult for gen z to be able to buy a home. Thats the highest we have seen in two decades. Its making homeowners reluctant to sell. According to Keller Williams reality, 59 of current homeowners have a Mortgage Rate of 3. 5 or lower. If they sell, that means getting stuck with a much higher rate. Creating a gridlock in the home market. Its also made people more reluctant to list their home because they dont want to give up that 3 mortgage. The sellers are not selling. The buyers are not buying. Prices are holding up because inventory is still very low. So sales volume is going to be extremely low through the second half of 2023 and probably into the beginning of 2024. There is No End In Sight for Interest Rates low inventory making it so only be people selling right now are those that absolutely have to. You are only really going to be selling if you have a major life event, job, divorce, Something Like that will cause you to sell. You are not selling to go down the road and get a new backyard. Its not just Interest Rates on the rise. Low inventory creates higher demand. That means higher prices. Take, for example, this house. The sellers purchased it in 2021 for just over 360,000. You cant run for president in the way that doesnt create embarrassing Process Stories, you know, multiple times a week. You certainly cant run the white house and run the federal government or be trusted to sit across from president xi or Vladimir Putin or kim jong un. So getting ready. You never know with former president trump. But those are the indications he is giving off. Byron, does that change the dynamic in your mindset . Absolutely. I mean, a debate with donald trump is wildly different from a debate without donald trump. And i think each candidate, if the president , former president is not there, each candidate is going to have to decide well, how am i going to handle the trump issue . Its gonna come up. Chris christie wants to attack trump whether he is there or not. But i think what you are going to see is a lot of the other ones trying to tip toe around the trump issue because they know how many republicans who are watching them support trump and all of the cattle call events we have had up until now, most of them tried to avoid talking too much about donald trump. Yeah. It is interesting. Leslie, you know, we also saw that the former president canceled this News Conference he was going to have in which he was going to lay out, he said, all of this compelling information from georgia election. He says that his lawyers say that they are going to put it in filings. Somebody who is not running for president , at least not yet, is the georgia governor brian kemp. He was down in atlanta with Erick Erickson. Take a listen. You can believe whatever you want about the 2020 election. That is your right i understand that. They want to move on from 2020 and they want to move on from donald trump. Interestingly enough, i agree with both you and byron 100 percent of what they said so far. I wanted to add to what byron said as well. When you look at all of these candidates with the exception of Chris Christie. Mike pence and ron desantis. The rest are running for Vice President so they are going to be careful Add Tiptoeing on top of the. Donald trump there, you really can see it here more of the agenda, if you will, from each of these candidates because when trump is on stage, they are going to be defending themselves, largely. Bret yeah. Its not official, official. We are just getting inclinations. He hasnt officially given us one way or another. We expect to hear. The Wall Street Journal editorial board, hugh, calling the republican president ial any announced candidate who hasnt qualified for the debate based on the Republican National committees criteria isnt likely to strike political lightning from the sidelines, staying in longer is essentially a Vanity Project or audition to be a talk show host. With that, were going to take an early trip down to a place that we call candidate casino. But its a little different. We have 100 in chips. You have got to bet on who you think is going to have the breakout moment at the debate wednesday in milwaukee. Hugh, you have got 100 bucks in chips. Im going to put 30 on govern desantis. 20 each on christie and nikki haley. Im going to come along with 10 each On Senators Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy. And then 5 each on burgum and Vice President pence. Because you cant count anybody out. But im also, i am just not persuaded the former president isnt going to show up. Its like mike phelps saying he has too many gold medals. This is the best thing he does dominate a stage with eight people on it. Giving your opponents in that opportunity to beat desantis with the momentum or somebody else with the momentum, it doesnt make political sense to me. He has surprised us before. But right now thats where im putting my chips. Bret okay. Byron, 100 in chips. Big breakout moment in milwaukee. Im putting a lot of money, 60 on Vivek Ramaswamy. Because i think its going to have a huge audience. There will be a significant number of people who really havent heard him very much. And i think they are going to be pretty impressed. The rest of it, tim scott, everybody seems to like tim scott. And i think the new people who see him will like him too. The other is ron desantis. Some eyes on him conventional wisdom now that his campaign is a mess. He has a chance to really come out and impress viewers. Bret okay. Big moments. 100 in chips. Leslie . Im going to put 25 on Governor Desantis because i do think this is his opportunity to shine, and he has got to do it really right now if never before. Im going to take 15 and put it on the remaining top 5 and that would be pence and christie, haley, scott, and ramaswamy. But im going to say even though i didnt put all my money and chips on this guy, i think Chris Christie is going to have a breakout moment because he already has broken away from the rest of these people in speaking so opposite of them regarding donald trump, the former president and i think thats going to make him break out in a sense get ahead of the fray.
